Posted August 29, 2017 Greetings all, I have been awaiting the release of identity for quite some time and I know that I shouldn't assume that it will be the best MMORPG of all time. I am here to ask the simple question: Will there be trains and/or metros? I know delivery trucks is a community favorite and all, however, bigger shipments that are being sent to large factories might take too long for large profits to be possible. Also, I know it is against RP and all, but highway bandits can be a thing. They can just shoot the driver, steal the supplies and sell them to the highest bidder. Metros are less of a problem, but it should still make an appearance if trains are implemented. I am not trying to overhype the game or put holes into the developer's plans, it is merely a question. Hi, @gwion524, to answer your question; trains will be implemented into the game and will be entirely rideable. These trains will be AI-operated and won't be available for player driving, however, once boarding at one of the many stops the trains will pick up and departure from across the island, you will be able to interact, socialise with others on the train and potentially move around but that's for the future, one thing at a time, y'know? Delivery vehicles will also be implemented. There will be cars, vans and lorries (or "trucks", "trailers", y'get the idea) so robbing these will definitely be a possibility if you're wishing to play the criminal path (however, for legal reasons as I'm running for Governor I have to advise completely against doing that). Trains and deliveries have all been spoken about before in the Q&A videos and other places around the community so please be sure to search for content before making a post since it's most likely been answered before like this time Vote Hamilton.

I wish they would allow players to become train drivers/operators as a career/job choice, it could be similar to train simulator except a lot more fun. Also somewhat unrelated to this thread but in case the developers are reading this the game REALLY needs to have air travel included at some point in the future. I know the devs have already said they don't plan on it for now but the game will simply not be complete without some sort of air travel option, even if it's just prop plane/helicopter/small private jet. The Developers have already said they won't be adding it in not even for Emergency Services as they feel it would break the immersion and I agree. Everybody would ignore the other jobs unless they could get an aircraft from it and before you know it, nobody is on the ground and the entire sky is filled with helicopters, planes and people Kamikazying into the ground below. It would be too chaotic and would just ruin the game entirely. You will be able to get a job as a Taxi or Bus driver and can own your own bus company. Just a tiny thing left at the end of my posts. Like a signature outside of a Signature. I'm stopping this though, been doing it enough lately ? This way there will always be trains running but the option of running a train would still be available to any player who's interested.

Some people have said they'd enjoy being a cashier and processing transactions, face-face, working in a store but the Developers have said that most people wouldn't enjoy standing behind a register all day and it'd be much more fun and enjoyable to manage what you sell and how much for, etc. and really run the business itself. Vote Hamilton A solution to the problem you mentioned is to have small airports where only one or two daily scheduled flights are allowed. A player pilot could be flying a small private jet or helicopter and take player passengers from one side of the map to another really quickly. The airports could have their own NPC flights going in and out for the realism aspect but player operated flights could be limited to a small number per day and only by licensed pilots. See, indestructible NPC-flown aircraft would be an entirely different story and might be helpful for cross-island transport, but it would be INSANE to code and program, especially with it being so open-world and multiplayer, there might be a bit of lag. However, I entirely stick with my earlier statement about player-flown aircraft; it would be too chaotic and people would just troll, even if they required licenses. It's like with the Police. You have to apply, go to the college/tutorial stuff and then go on-duty, but there would still be people who abused it and trolled. It would be too much. However, I do enjoy the idea of NPC-flown aircraft but I feel that it would still ruin the immersion and would be much more fun to go on a road trip, stopping stores on the way there or services (gas stations near highways with Bed & Breakfasts). With trains, it is more about the trains are on a set schedule and so they would always be late if a player was the driver and so it is better kept AI controlled. Think of it as a un-manned train which are in real life, just with no guard or someone there. 4 hours ago, BobbyL said: A solution to the problem you mentioned is to have small airports where only one or two daily scheduled flights are allowed. The main reason for no aircraft is so that players won't miss any interactions on the ground while also so there is not a way for a player to fly past everything and be on the other side of the map as that is too fast. They want the interactions not to be avoided and so no aircraft, player or ai controlled.
Posted September 1, 2017 look i'm getting annoyed at seeing suggestions about aircraft, helicopters and planes will never be a thing because the first thing people will do is troll and grief, just like the same reason why sniper rifles and other forms of weaponry aren't being added, this game has to be realistic and in reality people have a much bigger chance of getting into politics or the emergency services etc rather than becoming a pilot
