Concerts and Instrument Playing

Does anyone know how playing instruments (e.g. guitar) will work in the concert hall? I love to play guitar, so would I need to plug my electric into my PC and then link it to the game somehow?

I don't see how it could work otherwise as it'd be quite hard to play using a mouse + keyboard configuration.

No, you don't need to link your guitar to your PC and in-fact you will use keys likely on your keyboard to play notes etc.
