What Will Resource Gathering Be Like?

So I was thinking and this question came across my head, What will resource gathering be like?. I was thinking about making a supply company gathering resources and selling them to who ever wants to buy them. But then I realize this might not be the way the game is going to work. Is everything going to be crafted like guns, cars, clothing etc where players have to acquire the materials to craft a certain item or can you just buy them from a NPC or something like that. If anyone knows anything about this I would appreciate if you would let me know

I believe if you want to say create furniture, then the materials are delivered to you from a supply hub. At that point you can create the furniture and deliver it to the supply hub or the customer. I may be wrong, or off on some of this information.
