Posted February 5, 2017 Having embarrassed herself for most of the day she wasn't about to let Gene go unscathed "Is that a euphemism Mr Smith?" Ryver finishes her first slice and take another-he has tapped into her second favourite thing to do in this world... Eat.
Posted February 5, 2017 "I guess so if you heard it as one" He chuckles and takes a bite from his pizza. "But I suppose it's whatever you want it to be." After taking a few bites he sets it down and leans back in his seat. "So, when do you wanna leave?"
Posted February 5, 2017 "I'm more or less trying to get away from the waitress. She doesn't seem too friendly. And I wanna see your vinyls. Haven't ever seen one before." He smiles at Ryver.
Posted February 5, 2017 "Ok, well i'm going for a smoke, are you happy to settle up here?" Ryver takes one more bite at her slice, finishes her drink a sure sign of her upbringing being more or less impoverish. Collecting her things she heads outside, lights up and is instantaneously approached by a strange man enquiring as to whether she was Ryver Lemonelle, and had been at the courthouse today. He was steaming drunk and becoming very intimidating, he had clearly been on the prosecution side who failed to put her client away today. "I'm sorry sir, I was just doing my job" Ryver stuttered
Posted February 5, 2017 Gene walks out with his coat in hand. He gently wraps his arm around Ryver and escorts her to his car. He opens the door for her and lets her in. He walks around to the other side and buckles his seatbelt. "Are you alright?"
Posted February 5, 2017 Ryver thanks Gene for his kindness. "Please, i'd very much like to go home now"
Posted February 5, 2017 "No problem." The car starts up and the drive to Ryver's house is a quiet one.
Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) "thank you for a wonderful day Gene, I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming election" She leans in and places an ever so delicate kiss on Gene cheek before leaving the car and climbing the steps to her apartment block. She briefly glances back before heading through the lobby door. Posted February 6, 2017 Kevin finishes connecting the spark plug leads in the engine bay of his '99 Nissan Skyline GTR when he notices the time on the clock on the wall of his shop. "Christ, its damn near supper time" He gives his hands a quick wash before getting into the drivers seat of his car. Kevin closes his eyes and turns the key in the ignition. After stuttering for a second the engine roars to life.He revs the engine several times, each time he lets off a loud noise comes from the turbo blow off valve. Happy that everything seems in order he shuts the engine off and gets out, patting the roof of the car. "Don't worry girl, I'll have you back on the road in no time" Kevin turns his hat right way round, grabs his red plaid jacket and his sunglasses from the office and heads out into the rain. He tosses his jacket on and hooks his glasses onto the front of his t-shirts collar. He gets into his Impreza WRX STI and heads of into town. He parks outside of a small pub located near some apartment buildings. Kevin flips down the visor and opens the mirror. He runs his hand through his short sandy brown beard before trying to rub the fatigue out of his gunmetal blue eyes. After a few moments he flips the visor up and steps out. Kevin stops outside of the door and pulls out a pack of cigarettes and knocks one out of the pack, grabbing it with his lips. He replaces the pack into the breast pocket on his coat while grabbing a zippo out. After lighting the smoke he takes a long drag, enjoying the storm for a few moments.
Posted February 6, 2017 Jason sits in his empty apartment trying to gain inspiration for his music. He remembers his very old friend and turns on some music. Looking down at the CD it's the cover of Nirvana: Nevermind. He pops the CD and turns it to track 6. He sits back down and turns to a small cigar box, as he opens it he has a small tube, baggies and a dozen guitar picks. He picks a pick up and start playing with the song.
Posted February 6, 2017 The apartment is silent, but outside a storm is stirring, the walls a wash with grey as the window pains chill under the dropping temperature. Ryver loved evenings like this. Stirring from her nap after a more than eventful day, she unstuck her eyes with a few defiant blinks, stretched out her arms til a few creeks ricocheted down her spine. Turning over on her side, she clicked the button on her phone and as to be expected 0 messages/notifications. She huffed and laid on her back, twiddling a loose thread on her sleeve. Thunder rolled through the clouds outside, bringing Ryver to the window pane to watch and wait. She pushed it open just enough to feel the fresh cool breeze brush against her face. Patting at her pocket for her cigarettes, she lit one and imagined herself in a noir film. Waiting for a detectives silhouette to appear at her apartment door and deliver some tantalising news. But life just isn't like that. CRASH! the lighting struck just a few streets away-the refraction bouncing off Ryvers iris; pupils widening at the excitement the untameable weather brings with it.
Posted February 6, 2017 Gene calmly takes out his phone. Noticing there aren't any notifications on them he decides to text Ryver before getting dressed. "Ryver, I was wondering if I could take you up on your offer to check out those vinyls. Anyways, get back to me whenever you can." Gene sets his phone down and puts on his dark red dress shirt and black suit pants.
Posted February 6, 2017 Ryver almost didn't hear her phone vibrate over the rumbling and crackling of the evening sky- all she could think about was being able to see the star that night. She was very lucky to have the top floor apartment with roof top terrace, where she had placed a fire pit and canopy for summer parties. Her ear almost hitched at hearing her phone vibrate. Casting it off as 'probably work' for a moment, she threw what was left of her cigarette out the window, but left it open. She took a cup from the cupboard and placed it in the coffee machine installed in her kitchen, tapping at the buttons for her selection, her phone gave a second reminder vibration. As the machine spurted and gargled into her cup, she pondered over to her phone, hardly taking notice of the name on the screen, but as the text sank in like an icicle melting on a spring morning, she sprang into action, vainly putting items away in the apartment. She replies [Sure come on over]
Posted February 6, 2017 Gene quickly finishes getting dressed and grabs his jacket. The heavey rain bouncing up from the ground beneath him. He turns on his engine and drives to Ryver's apartment. As he parks his car he walks over to the front door. He looks for her name so he can be buzzed in. Pushing the button he says "Ryver it's Gene. The rain is coming down hard so I'll be soaking when I come in." He closes his eyes and sighs because of how he worded it.
Posted February 6, 2017 Ryver frantically gets dressed, her bedroom resembling a jumble sale; dress down casual, pyjama's, cocktail dress, a whole multitude of outfits were tried and discounted til the buzzer sounds and she is wearing what can only be described as one step away from gym clothes. She shrugs to herself in the mirror and jets to the door, tripping on the corner of her rug as she did every day but refused to remove it. Clutching at the phone for the intercom she breathlessly gasps "Come on up!" as she buzzes the door. She looks in the mirror at her reflection, attempting to fix her hair. Posted February 6, 2017 Gene walks up and tries fixing his hair, hoping that he may look presentable. He knocks at the door and practices what he would say in his head. As she opens the door, lounge clothes from head to toe he couldn't be happier to see her. "Well, it looks like I dressed for the wrong occasion. I feel like the odd one out." Ge let's off a slight chuckle before rolling up his sleeves on his shirt. "Should I take my shoes off? I don't want to ruin your floor."
Posted February 6, 2017 Ryver stands on the other side of the door and lefts out a breath through pursed lips (when her lips look their best) as she composes herself, she opens the door and beams cheekbone to cheekbone. She looks him up and down, realising the scaling difference in their attire. She bears it no further attention as she extends a dainty hand to sweep a stray hair back from his face. Bashfully glimpsing at his eyes. "Come on in, I don't want you catching your cold out there!" As Gene enters and questions his footwear, Ryver jokes "As long as you don't have 6 toes" but just incase he had she quickly continued "Uh..Coffee?"
Posted February 6, 2017 "Um.. Yes please. That would be great." Gene places his shoes neatly by the door and hangs his coat up before walking over to Ryver's couch and sitting down. "Fortunately for you I only have five toes on each foot." He quickly checks just reassure himself, already knowing the answer. "I like your apartment, it's a very good location. Especially for days like this. You get to see the whole city getting rain." Posted February 6, 2017 "yeah..it's a nice little place...I only rent, the neighbours aren't too much of a..." She continues rambling hastily about nothing all that important, intermittently looking at Gene, when he wasn't looking at her as she made the coffee in the little nook of a kitchen. She wraps up her monologue by asking, "So.. twice in one day? to what do I owe the pleasure?" She brings over the coffee on a tray, with sugar lumps and milk and sets it down on the coffee table. Wrapping her cardigan around her like a kimono and perching close enough to Gene, the open window carrying the scent on her perfume in his direction.
Posted February 6, 2017 "Well, I didn't think today should've ended the way it did. It seemed like we should've at least ended it on a high note." The smell of her perfumes hypnotized him while he pours a small bit of milk in. As he stirs he looks at her. "I hope you don't mind that I came over. I don't want to be intrusive." He continues to stir his coffee awaiting her answer.
Posted February 6, 2017 Ryver nods agreeable to his take on the situation. "Don't get me wrong today has been hectic to say the least, but I've slept it off and I suppose I did offer to show you my vinyls" she pauses briefly for comedic affect, before pointing to her record collection. She assembles her coffee intricately, choosing the smallest sugar cube to hand and adding enough milk to make it questionable that there was even coffee in the cup. "It looks to be clearing outside, shall I put the fire pit on, on the terrace and we can watch the stars?"
Posted February 6, 2017 "That would be nice Ryver, I'd like that." Gene sets down his cup and gets up to grab the vinyls. As he sets back down he gets closer to Ryver so they can both view them on the table. "So where did you get these? I've been looking everywhere to find authentic vinyls but they're always sold out or faded into obscurity." His cologne and her perfume seemed to be fighting a war between them with both scents mixing together seamlessly.
Posted February 6, 2017 Ryver leaves briefly to set up the terrace, accessed through sliding doors in her bedroom, not only to set the fire pit up but to lay out an array of fur, sheepskin and woollen blankets. With the intentions of making it cosy. Coming back in, shivering slightly, she sits down with Gene following suit shortly after, she turns into him, her knee touching his. "I suppose you could call them family heirlooms, we didn't have a lot growing up, but we always enjoyed music. We would spend out last few dollars on flea market vinyls. Chose anything you like, I've got the sound system rigged up to play on the terrace, so maybe something easy listening as to not disturb the neighbours" Her nostrils filled with the smell of his cologne, inside it was driving her wild..to be truthful, she wasn't hiding it very well on the outside either.
Posted February 6, 2017 Gene picks her Elvis Presley vinyls first and puts it on. "Well, music in the one language everybody understands. It connects no matter who we are or what we do." Gene noticing Ryver shivering from the cold gets up and grabs his jacket. He wraps it around her trying to warm her up from the near fridgid temperatures. "Hopefully this help. It's cold out there, so you gotta be careful." Gene chuckles as he starts looking at the back of the album.
