I am hoping to set up a chain of high end Jewellery and fashion stores in identity. Will there be the ability to design jewellery in the game?

Cool idea! There wont be an ability to design jewelry in Identity. But you can design your own clothing line.

Ah thanks for your reply.would have been cool to produce rings,necklaces etc to sell as engagement or wedding rings etc by buying in precious metal and jewels from miners etc so I may change direction slightly and may look at producing wedding clothing alongside a clothing line

Yes, if open a storefront you can sell clothing and accessories, rings for example.
