  3. A day in the life: Mike Jackson

6:15 am- Alarm goes off. I slowly open my eyes and sit up on my bed. The brittle early morning sun is peeking through my curtains. I stretch out my arms and yawn. I draw the curtains and make my bed swiftly. I hop into the shower and get dressed. Today i am choosing to wear my simple black jeans, Harley Davidson t-shirt and my River Island Leather jacket. 6:45 am- i jog down the stairs into the kitchen where i grab my favorite cereal out of the cupboard and a carton of milk out of the fridge. Mix them both in a small bowl and enjoy. As that didn't satisfy my hunger i get two slices of bread and made toast with strawberry jam as my spread. 7:10 am- I brush my teeth and comb my hair one last time. I'd put on my a pair of Chuck Taylor All stars and fetch my car keys. i would grab my work bag and give the house a quick scan on my way out. I walk toward my manual navy blue Chevrolet Colorado Pick-up and start the engine, put her in reverse and back onto the street. First gear is engaged and off to home depot! 7:25 am- Currently just got onto the freeway going west on I76 at about 70 mph. Home depot is 25 minutes away, ETA 7:50. 7:52 am- I pull into the employees parking lot at home depot and walk in. I exchange greetings with co-workers and head to the briefing room. My boss and 5 other drivers are already in and chatting. We discuss the deliveries that have to be made today and their exact details. Time, load type, weight, destination...etc. 8:10 am- I do a pre-trip around my truck, No.004, and inspect every element, gauge and trailer condition. {BTW we haul 53 footers] 8.15 am- I start the Cummins X15 670 hp, 2500 nm of torque engine in my Peterbilt , turn on my marker lights plus primary lights and pull out of the yard to pick up my first load, farm produce in the south of the island. Its a 30 minute drive from home depot. 8:47 am- I arrive on the farm and back into the loading area. I meat tthe owner and have a quick chat before i go and help load the trailer up. 8.59 am- a few minutes later, we've loaded the trailer about 22%, i lock the trailer doors, get into the cab, put the truck in gear and honked goodbye. It will be a 35 minute drive to the next pick up point in the south south west mountain region. 9:37 am- I arrive at the the second pick up point which is at a garment factory. There we fill another 37% with clothes to be taken to the east of the island. Now to the last pick up point just around the corner from the garment factory is a brewery where the remaining 41% of the trailer was filled with can of beer. Now to haul a fully loaded 53 foot trailer totaling 45500 lbs. Its now a 2hr 20 min drive to the main city . I join the freeway and set cruise control for 55 mph and enjoy the drive. Thick, grey clouds have started gathering 12:05 pm- I arrive in the main city from the south with some light traffic but heavy rain. The drop-off will be in tight spaces so i have to be extremely cautious. i make a total of 3 stops in the city. I leave the city with an empty trailer and go do a trailer swap with another fellow driver. 12:35 pm- I pull into a truck stop to buy myself by lunch. Fresh take away for today. With a Sprite and Salt and Vinegar chips to last a while. 12:52 pm- I leave the truck stop and head to my last drop off before i return to depot for a shift swap. 01:30 pm- I pull into the truck parking at home depot and back into a space alongside other drivers. I walk into the depot and register my hours on the road and i hand the keys over to another driver. I am now assigned paper work for the rest of the day until 04:45 pm. Its tedious work but i had breaks to chat and socialize with co-workers. 04:50 pm- I log-off from my work PC, grab my bag and walk out to my pick-up and drive home to some classical music. 05:12 pm- i pull into my drive way, shut the car off and get inside. I get my shoes off, hand my jacket up and toss my bag onto the couch. I grab a beer and turn the TV on and enjoy my favorite show, Top Gear. 05:50 pm- I go upstairs and get myself a hot shower. 06:15 pm- I come downstairs to make myself some dinner. Rice, vegetables and fried meatballs with Gravy. Sooooo good! As i eat i watch the news and text co-workers/friends. 07: 30 pm- I clear my plates and wash the dishes. 08:00 pm- I walk into my bedroom and tuck myself in, ready for another day with DLI! @Rick_Anderson , @Motown,@Siren

  5. Freight Brokerage

I have searched through the forums and I have seen a lot of talk about transportation jobs. Trucking is a huge genre of awesome, people love trucking simulators. What they take for granted is the person that actually brokers the load or freight going from one place or another. I am a CDL Carrier, I am also a CDL Instructor. What people focus on mainly in transportation is the physical carrying of the freight but never actually the office jobs associated with how the load is picked up, and how the load is received. What I propose is a Logistics Broker career. This individual will find, sell and assign loads to truckers in need of finding a load from one point to another. This person, much like in real life, gains a percentage (Usually 10%) of each load he or she assigns to a driver. This is one of those idle jobs but it can be quite lucrative. There are essentially 3 stages to becoming a full broker: 1. Hire on with a trucking company - as a trainee - Or a Dispatcher (Dispatchers are not paid percentage of loads, rather an hourly rate. They work for the Broker and the Company.) 2. Become an Agent - this person works for the Broker (Think Assistant or Secretary) 3. Obtain a Broker License - Broker loads on your own. Seeing is that most of the careers are already leveled careers with different job titles, this should be easy to do. Now, I will stop explaining and open it up for questions. Ask Me Anything, I am a Trucker.
  6. Trucking

Has anyone suggested the idea of trucking/transportation companies being a job option? Or Moving companies for citizens that want to move?
  7. Trucking company

I would love to have my own trucking company and be able to by a shop garage to park all of my trucks and trailers. I want to be able to buy a property like that and buy a few trucks and trailers to store at my shop and my shop would have its own garage to repair the trucks and fuel up. I would also love to have Peterbuilt, Kenworth, and Freightliner trucks to buy. I would like to be able to buy a refer trailer-for food and produce, a dump trailer-for the rock, stone, sand etc. a grain hopper trailer- for grain at the farms, a livestock trailer- for animals at the farms, a tanker trailer- for diesel, gas, oil, and water and a flatbed trailer- for hauling cars, trucks, lumber, crates etc. It would be like American Truck Simulator. But I would want it in this game because its like real life and I could own a one room log cabin in the woods as my house and live there and own my trucking company and everything would be wonderful. link to American Truck Simulator ( )
  8. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to have a look around. Welcome to CORE Transport, we are a Bus, trucking and Delivery corporation, focusing to become your main and #1 in public transport. Trucking and driving coaches is a specialty for us, all of us at Core Transport are enthusiasts of the road ahead, we make promises that we will keep and ensure our service is of the highest quality and wont be beaten. We are already hiring staff which will eventually begin work in the proper application number in-game. I hope you enjoy this comprehensive description of my corporation. Core Transport is a corporation who's main focus will be to become your #1 in transport. Not everyone will afford vehicles in Identity, so we want to give people the opportunity to travel with ease across the Island, the system below is a beta prototype and we will be trying a lot of new things to see what brings more satisfaction to possible future customers. We are happy to be the first announced transport corporation on the old forums, and we had the pleasure of having the first business post in this section of the forums. We are dedicated to our community and we hope to co-work with you all so that you too can build a transit system you would like to see. I started Core Transport because i have a passion in all things moving. A lot of my family are in the logistics and public transport business. Core transport is based on real world collected data, we have several written documents describing how our logistical and public transport system will work on identity based on the information that we have right now, and a special thanks to @Motown for answering a lot of private messages on the site which in turn helped shape Core Transport. We have some exciting news and updates coming shortly, so keep an eye on this section of the forums to be the first to find out new and exclusive information about Core Transport The following is a prototype of our system and how we would like to start off in Identity. ------Description of our Coach / City bus price lists and description of our system------ Once in the game I am planning on making the tickets BASED around these prices: ((CITY / CITY OUTSKIRTS BUS LINES)) - City service -Regular [$3.50]* (The ticket price may vary depending from where to where you are travelling) -Return [$6.50] (This ticket allows you to travel to your destination, and be able to travel back without buying another ticket, the price may also vary) -Day Saver [$25.00] (This ticket allows you to travel as much times as you want PER DAY in a specific ZONE, such as city, or countryside. The price may also vary) -Collaborative [$15.00] (If you are staff or part of a company that are partners with CORE Transport, you will get this ticket, with a discount instead of the Day Saver) -Weekly Bus Pass [$150.00]* (If you do the calculations -per day- this ticket will save you money if you travel with us a lot, the price may also vary.) -Event Pass [$450.00]* (Hosting an event? need transportation for ALL your guests? hire a CORE Bus with one of our bus drivers, and make as much trips as you want, from anywhere to anywhere in ONE day, this deal may have discounts) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ((INTER CITY/COACH LINES)) - Inter City service -Inter City One way [$39.00] (Priority boarding = extra [$5.50]* -Inter City Two way [45.00] (Priority boarding = extra [$10.00]* -Inter City Worker pass [$100.00] (Unlimited trips for TWO Days.) (Priority boarding = extra [$10.00] -Inter City Collaborative [$26.00]* (Priority boarding = extra [$10.00]) (This is the city worker pass, at a discounted price for Co. Partners) One baggage = [$4.50]* Two baggage's = [$8.50]* Three baggage's = [$12.00]* (Prices may vary from time to time) (Special offers will be held for ALL of the above*) On-board meals will be served free of charge if travelling over 80km2* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (DAILY SPECIAL DEALS, OFFERS, AND MILES) If you travel daily with CORE Transport, for every mile you earn on your membership card, you earn points, point can later be redeemed to have free bus trips, free meals, free priority boarding or free baggage's. Every week, CORE Transport has a Friday and Sunday special which offers you a TWO WAY trips with any Inter city coach, for only $35.00, price includes vat, baggage and parking (if any) -----------Description of our Logistics system and how it works----------- Logistics - Deliveries and their cost: The way we will be calculating our deliveries cost is not by weight or type of goods but rather by how much room it will take in the truck trailer / van. Space in the truck trailer and van are divided into 6 zones, the costs would be as followed: SPACES 1 = 50$ | 4 = 400 2 = 150$ | 5 = 750 3 = 250$ | 6 = 1,000 Prices will be negotiable, and this is all a prototype. all feedback is much appreciated. Roles and procedures of the Logistical Driver. (1) The Depot: Drivers will collect their asset (vehicle) belonging to the C.T. Corporation at the start of their shift after the yard master / secretary* gives them their Driver Reference Nr and permission to depart from the Yard, once the driver receives his/her instructions then departure is permitted by the Security Guard. (2) The warehouse: The warehouse operators would be loading the truck before the driver arrives. Small vans or other truck drivers would be assigned to bring smaller goods to a company owned warehouse where the customers goods would be distributed to their final location. But it is possible to deliver directly from Factory > Destination if the payment reaches minimum for that process to occur. Its an important job to ensure that goods are loaded efficiently and effectively. (3) Secure Driver Procedure: When any driver enters a yard or distribution centre a driver number must be given, along with the vehicles registration plates and what kind of cargo is being transported. Core Transport is a 100% legal company and it is up to the Security Officer to ensure that no illegal contraband is ever transported. Heavy fines would apply for any contraband that would be attempted to transport. When trucks arrive and depart they are heavily checked by security officers to ensure the safety of the driver and compliance with the law. Dockets would be printed out for drivers with ALL the information they need to take off. This is not the finalized version of the C.T. system description. a logo and the full description will be uploaded in weeks to come.
