I think that is the point that @misterff1 is trying to make about transparency is that they try too hard to make themselves look proficient that when they fail, the video, it comes to bite them in the bud and makes things worst rather then better. If they were honest about how the game development, including that they are having difficulties and not making any significant estimates or promises, they could avoid almost all of the PR and community problems they have now. I'm not saying that they need to create videos day in and day out, that's just dumb and will take away people from working on the more important thing, the game. If they were to show more things about the workplace they have or show things that are actually in Town Square instead of things not coming for many years because they wanted to have the ability to say those arguments of "placeholders" and "Everything will be different" instead of maybe showing us things that don't look to good for the development of Town Square. I think with many others including myself, if we saw a town square video that was quirky from early development and without the earlier promises of releases, would enjoy that more then a video trying to take itself seriously, but fail miserably.

Welcome along, glad to have you. BTW, nice pic.

I think after all the drama we could use a good thinking.

With any new company comes trial and error when learning occurs. My only hope is that the Asylum team learns from this and fixes up the PR problems they are beginning to be known for. They still have a chance to change that perspective and I hope they grab it.

gameplay video Sad to Admit I Am Dissapointed
NanoSpace replied to JoelKeys's topic in The Town Square
Well put, I've stated in a couple of other posts my thoughts about this issue, especially from a PR standpoint. What I want people who defend the game to understand is that our criticism dosen't come from a place of hate, if anything it comes from a place of wanting the game to succeed because we see the potential of the game. I hope the devs continue to learn and get better, but we have to wait and see those results and hope that the devs learn and grow instead of making the same PR mistake over and over again. -
The way I see it, most mainstream people will see the videos first (First Impressions) instead of the module. The module is supposed to be used for people already interested in the game to have motivation to support the game and to see how the progress of the game is going. The fact that some people say that the videos don't matter doesn't know how PR works and doesn't realize that most consumers only give about 10 seconds to anything to see if its interesting, you got to get someone hooked in that time and then the video has to be decently done to keep them hooked and interested. While the original trailer was very good at that, it did well because the game at the time was manly a concept, but now that the game is more then that, the trailers have to follow to keep interest. This is what needs to be done to keep momentum and continue the growth of users in the game, or risk not getting people interested and even worst, losing people who are.

Wait a minute, wasn't one of the whole points that the video got delayed another 4 weeks was because the guy doing the animations wasn't getting back to the devs........

Thanks for your hard work @HairyGrenade -
Honestly I'm a little surprised to see the first question results to be like that, 50/50, damn. I would think more people would want them to focus on the game rather then videos.
-
Agree with you on most points, but I'm willing to give them leeway on the animations if they are improved in future videos. Most of us don't have any idea what goes on in the background, many things could have happened to cause this to happen and they probably felt pressured to release something sooner rather then later, which is sad to see because these types of things can easily help to sway mainstream appeal for the game away.
-
Probably would have liked to see more of the working of the UI, probably didn't see much of it because of that whole thing with their original UI builder being discontinued. Probably priority #1 would be those animations since that's what everyone will be seeing in the mass market.

The wait begins again

Honestly I haven't seen any of the really bad stuff that people have mentioned, probably just goes to show the efficiency of the mods on these forums, so I have no personal place to talk about these attacks on the devs, but I understand the place of the people who are actually concerned about the game and aren't just trolls. Considering this is the first big mainstream gaming adventure for this gaming company they could have done a lot worst, but they are still learning, sadly mostly through mistakes but still learning. I just hope that what the devs get from this is that if they aren't sure about a date or and estimate it's just better to stay quiet in the long run.

Yo, can a mod close this up for me please @LuckyDuck

First off, congratulations to @Motown for finally being able to work in the great mystical land of Canada! I think I speak for everyone when I say I wish you luck there and happy to see you finally with the project physically. VIDEO: Sad to see that the video is delayed by a couple days, but I'm still happy to see it coming out soon and can't wait to see what it contains! Here's the photo that was the sneak peak if you haven't seen it yet: U.I: The new U.I looks really clean and really can't wait to see what the other parts of it look like! Here it is if you haven't seen it already: STEAM: Interesting to see the full on integration with Steam that is happening and really happy about it. Will make playing the game and playing with other people much easier. Tell me what you guys think off all this information, let's start a discussion!

That's sad to hear, but hopefully the wait is worth it.

Hey guys, So I was wondering what you guys think would be a good idea for a live stream from the Identity Devs. Personally I think it would be cool for them to do a tournament together with a face cam and the winner receives the best award, The Beach Ball, a container of sand with a tiny beach ball inside........ Anyway, what ideas do you guys have for something they could do in the future.

I didn't forget those points, in fact I brought them up in my original post.
-
Most people that I've seen complaining about the delays are people who are more upset about the fact that they keep making the same PR mistake over and over again instead of just working on it and not being pressured to answer a question they might not be able to fulfill. While it may be frustrating to see people complain and be impatient, it's not bad for developers to be put accountable for things they said. I know some may be trolls, but through them there are people who are generally concern about the devs making promises instead of just working on the projects and just releasing it when they can. I don't necessarily see people who are concern about the development as not being "true" supporters, they are just people who are excited to see the game to be completed and are upset with continuously being let on by the devs about promised and what they see as expected dates. Honestly posts like these are unnecessary because they just stir up the pot even more and cause even more people to be upset, let the people who have paid for the game be concern.
-
Honestly they should stop saying dates and just get it done and surprise us with it randomly. Would definitely be less trouble then this.
-
Not sure, but that's probably a great question for ether @Paratus or @Beach_Ball

I believe they've said in the past sometime this month, but at this point who knows.

Any updates on the video?
NanoSpace posted a question in Tourism (Q&A)
Hey sorry, I've been gone for the past month or so, was wondering if any information has come out from the dev's about the upcoming video. Thought it was coming out by the end of 2017? -

Hey there, so I've been looking around the forums for answers about the upcoming gameplay video that's supposed to happen before the year is out, does anyone happen to know how that is coming along and whether we will still be getting it by New Years?
