Pretty much. Though people in Identity want to be "the boss" so badly, that they will give up very lucrative opportunities to work together. So maybe not.

You could in theory have private insurance companies, though it Asylum Life EMS were just paid out of pocket.

If you really need to practice your RP or you just can't wait to play Identity you should check out Sub Rosa. It's a multiplayer RPG, and the setting is basically Pulp Fiction. Different "Corporations" have to broker deals between each other. You could just murder the other corporation, but then you might die in the process. When it works it creates very tense amazing RP scenarios. However, the graphics are minimalist, and the controls are a bit weird. It is a very unique game, and I' recommend it if you like to RP.

No i mean physically talking over VOIP to deliver a speech. -
My point is that no one wants to start at the bottom. People don't want the game to be a job. Everyone wants to be the boss, (hence why you see people STILL starting more private security corps). If you can actually find people who are willing going to grind for your profit, that's great, however those people are few and far between. You don't know that people will start selling equity. We don't even know if people are assigning equity in their companies. As far as I'm aware, every company founder holds 100% of the equity and everyone else is just working for a % of profits. I think if it does happen this is a great idea, however, I think that investment bureau's acting as angel investors is incredibly risky, and I fear for the people who's money you are investing.

All Saturdays? This event probably won't happen for at least another few weeks in order to give everyone time to their speeches, as well as all the scheduling that needs to be done. -
Ah, I actually didn't see that. But I was more so thinking about lawyers than people running for election.

I think your biggest problem here is that you are not starting small. You have a huge chain of command in place, yet no one to fill it. No one wants to start at the bottom of a small company. If you want anyone to partner with you, at least at the start, you will have to treat (and pay) them as equals. You are also attempting to start an investment firm when there is little to no investment market. People are not selling equity in their companies as of this moment. Stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are also not being sold at this moment. Not to mention you haven't named a source of initial capital for your business. When the game is more developed, this could be a great idea, at the moment however, I think you're going to have a difficult time finding companies to invest into.

Should add politics/law. Those are too big to miss imo

Most people in Identity are freelance workers anyway (no one is actually getting a job). As such, there isn't really a downside to joining an existing company except for the fact you won't get to literally run everything.

I'd hope to avoid the use of vigilante justice. -
Coastal Metro Emergency Medical Services (CMEMS)
uncannierlink replied to RunninCode's topic in Board Room
EMS is a hard coded profession in the game. I don't think it would be appropriate to start a private EMS company (would be similar to starting a private police precinct. Just doesn't compute) As an alternative, what about a Union? -
There aren't any insurance companies. You can't tax something that doesn't exist. Though that doesn't mean someone couldn't start one.
-
Hyped for the spatial OS partnership. That's going to be huge. We could literally have 1000 player servers.

If people refuse to pay, I would either have to either have the police ticket them with the payments they owe or have to contact their employer and extract it from their paycheck (with a court order of course) -
This all seems a bit childish...

I know. I'm saying people misunderstood the title on your thread because they were so quick to want to advertise.
-
No, it's just because people like to advertise.
-
Again, I see no reason to artificially limit the "types" of companies that can be in the game. This game will be so much greater if people are willing to RP beyond the mechanics that are hard coded into the game.

Is there a limit on the amount of Corporations a player can own?
uncannierlink replied to MoMann's question in Tourism (Q&A)
@Motown That's very limiting. It forces unnecessary specialization and locks off sections of the game. I hope the devs aren't implementing it in that way. It really doesn't make sense as there's no reason a manufacturing corporation shouldn't also be able to transport some of their own product. -
What would a scientist even do in the context of the game? Like specifically. What would your core gameplay loop be?

Why not just make 1 corporation that does both things you want it to?
