Facepunch studies (The rust team) is composed of 25 full time workers. From (Dec 2013–2014) they made 55 million USD. Not really a fair comparison. I think we should be satisfied with he fact the devs posted a reasonable explanation as to why they haven't really been updating us, and told us exactly what they were working on.

Anyone who claims to be the best at a game before it even comes out is.... let's hope for their sake just a bad liar. However, there is a difference between being the best, and being the biggest (IE most members).

I want to get into the beta (Buy a pass) But im put off.
uncannierlink replied to CurtisLee19941's topic in The Town Square
I would absolutely NOT buy a Beta pass atm. Wait until at least the first module is released before you put any money into the game. -
I wouldn't mind seeing some untextured models that are barely animated just moving around in a server and using VOIP...

When Will The Town Square Module Be Finished?

This reaction of "just leave this community" is honestly one of the most stupid and ignorant things I've seen. It's a mute point. Telling someone to leave the forum if they disagree with you/think you're wrong Is the equivilant of telling them to shut up, covering your ears, and saying "lalallala I can't hear you!" Not to mention as a financial backer of the game, me and many other people are a part of the community whether we want to be or not.

My problem, and I'm sure the problem many other have, is that the devs are being completely secretive about any sort of progress. I'd be fine if they had to cut features or delay the launch or whatever they have to do, but they could at least TELL US if they need more time. Every time you ask for a date they always say Oh early 2017. They've said that date for the beta and the first module. It seems common sense that if they are having a setback or some aspect of the game is giving them trouble, they would tell us right? We don't even know what they're working on rn. Is it just artwork? Is it networking? Who knows? Plus my biggest concern is that there is absolutely NO proof that they have a playable game. All we've seen is some unreal engine walking sim footage. Come to think of it the blueprints in unreal should take care of most of the difficult stuff... Probably almost anyone could write the code required just for a simple social sim, because most of it is already in the UE blueprints. Anyway, if they just sent out a tweet like every week or whatever saying, oh this week we're working on coding in jobs and next week we're working on net-code, at least they would be saying SOMETHING, but they aren't.

When Will The Town Square Module Be Finished?

I thought the beta was supposed to be done by early 2017? Not just the first module. When was that stated? -
IDK how many times I've said this, but the AI run banks aren't really banks. They're piggy banks. You put money in and it stays there, and then you take their money out. I'm going to be running a REAL bank. I will use the money my clients put in their accounts to administer loans are make a profit. In exchange I will make interest payments to everyone who stores their money in an account at my bank.

Let me preface this by saying, that from what I have read from the devs, they don't want the economy to be like in Altis life. That is to say, essentially a huge grind fest with very little destruction of wealth, fixed prices of goods, and very little movement of money from player to player. In this state money is more like a score than a currency. However there is one major pitfall they are going to have to avoid if they want to do an open market economy right. This pitfall isn't actually inflation, but deflation. Let me give an example to visualize how dangerous this is. In this example there are a group of people, a buyer named Tom and a Seller named Joe. First we have the group of people put their money in a player owned bank instead of just keeping it under their mattress. This is good because it allows this money to move around instead of just being useless like in Altis life. Then Tom wants to start his Taxi company. So instead of having to grind up enough money to afford a taxi. he goes to the bank and takes out a loan to be able to afford the taxi. Kickstarting his business in infinitesimally less time than it would take in Altis life. This is why banks are so great. So now the money that was the group of people's is now loaned to Tom. Again moving the money around instead of having it build up under people's mattresses. Here is where the problem of deflation arises. If Joe, the taxi salesperson, is a player, then everything is fine. The money stays in circulation and Joe will put that money back into the bank. However, If Joe is an AI, and the taxi selling shop is an AI business, the money is gone. It's deleted from the universe. It doesn't remain in circulation and people have to grind more to make that money exist again. I hope the devs can see why this would be such a major problem. So any questions?

I agree with this entirely. It allows allows for more civil discussion of politics instead of everyone on the server gathering and yelling at each other.

SORRY! At least in my bank I want to make people feel comfortable they're getting the best deal that suits them. That means lots of different options for lots of different people. Of course any of our employees will be able to explain these options to you and help you decide which option best suits you.

One of the biggest signs of maturity is patience. Be patient and eventually you will be older and people will consider you immature. You can't make your voice change and you can't change the internet's reaction to your voice. If you want people to respect you, you're going to have to earn it. It will be harder because you have a higher pitched voice but not impossible. Instead of complaining about things you cannot change, take pride in who you are. No one will stop you from playing the game, and (Hopefully/ in a perfect world) no one will break RP to call you out on your voice. Knowing these two things, what could you possibly have to complain about? Take pride in yourself and your voice. Be the one squeaker on the internet that everyone respects.

Neither was @NickyB. Ironic how you said "I don't know why you're so mad" When he wasn't.

It's only, it's only game.... Why you heff to me med?
-
1. Some people want realism in the game and "Squeakers break emersion" 2. While online interaction isn't rated by ESRB the devs are designing the game to be very mature. 3. Don't complain about people judging you. People are going to judge you for everything. If you want them to think you are mature: act mature.

So whose putting there names down for elections
uncannierlink replied to DanDud88's topic in The Podium
So you want to play god? You want to try this big crazy idea and you just brush over the consequences? If it fails millions are left without support from the government. Millions will be unable to pay medical bills. Millions more will be unable to afford food. Millions of people will die. "If it fails we will admit defeat and try again" forgetting the fact that we will also weep over the graves of the millions who died for your failure. -
This is a completely irrational worry. I'm sure that money will be stored server side. You'd have to hack into their serves to change that value.

I don't think they'll release the full game for a while, at least another year and a half. As far as Beta is concerned, I would say the end of this year is very optimistic. Also, the modules ARE the game. The Beta won't release until all (or most) of the modules are done.
-
I believe they said this would be added after release though, but it is on their roadmap.

I will be working with @Chuc and @Sicario in order to be successful entrepreneurs. I plan on starting the first bank of Identity and will pay out interest and give out loans. Here is my character's backstory if anyone is interested: After completing his studies at Oxford, Carpe, of the highly respected Pecuniam bloodline, was simply screwed out of his inheritance. Expecting up to this point to live a life of luxury and be a respected member of wealthy society, this simply would not do. It was time to put his Oxford education to the test. With several degrees including Finance, Economics, Gentry and, Business, Carpe decided to move to the island in order to make his fortune. Although he would never be the old money respectable man he thought, perhaps he could be something greater.

I plan on running a bank. I'll give interest payments to people who keep their money at the bank (our motto is that there is a way to make money by doing nothing!) and give out loans to companies and individuals. P.S. I'm hiring.

With his partner knocked unconscious the masked man runs to her aid. "Honey are you alright? Please say something!" Jack uses this as his opportunity to exit the restaurant. As he passes by Stewart he says, "Thanks for being a hero, the world needs more men like you. Here's my card, we'll keep in touch." As he exits, Stewart notices he left his glowing briefcase. (The briefcase is extremely hot to the touch, enough to burn someone) (Jack immediately slips away as he exits the restaurant i.e. no one can follow him)
