Multiple Careers (Crime & Business)
Honeybadger replied to RemingtonVanderbilit's topic in Ideas & Suggestions
I believe that most crimes will be accessible to everyone at anytime, at least the most basic ones that don't require "experience" anyways. You just have to remember that as a business owner, or policemen wanting to commit a crime - this could potentially harm the efficiency of your company while you sit in jail, cost hefty fines, and perhaps even go on some sort of permanent record that may damage your reputation within the "straight edge" community. These are all just my opinions of how it MAY work though. It has been stated that players can only have 1 career at a time, but are able to switch (with possible penalties of job hopping depending on the profession) but there will be several odd-jobs or basic NPC run companies that you can possibly do multiple jobs for. -
I find the idea of a 4 hour day and 2 hour night cycle more appealing. This is 4 segments of a 24 hour cycle that provide 4 days and 4 nights as im sure there will be different things you can only do at night, or during the day - and this method would allow people who can only login at certain times every day to be able to experience both night and day. If someone can only get on at 6 pm but thats when day time starts and will be day for 6 hours then its midnight for them and they have to go to bed before they can do any of the in game night activities. Making it slightly shorter but still long enough to accomplish what you want to do would be more beneficial I think.

Farms will probably be needed to supply grocery stores, as well as possibly certain fabrics. I imagine hunting to be an odd-job type perhaps they will even have competitions for hunting where you can make some side money. I don't imagine food and water and stuff will be as important in Identity as it is in real life so the value of those things may not be very high, but fun nonetheless - Especially if you happened to capitalize on the farming market early and cornered the market! I want to be a business owner of sorts, I will decide closer to when I get more information about all of the jobs available so I can determine which one is most profitable - but also most beneficial for the conglomerate that I'm forming right now which will basically consist of mostly business oriented players and investors, who all invest in each other for continued profits and rapid expansion. The idea is better explained in my thread which you can find a link to in my signature titled "The Neighborhood - Recruiting!"

transportation Transport company for all shapes and sizes!
Honeybadger replied to Touff97's topic in Job Bank
Hey! I enjoy the presentation of your business model. I was a truck driver for 3 years shortly after exiting the Army so I know quite a bit about the industry! I was hoping to expand on your business with an idea of my own - take a look at this thread I created titled "The Neighborhood - Recruiting" I think you will get most of the answers to your questions from the post. But the immediate benefits for you that I can think of off the top would be that because we control so many different business on every avenue of valuable trade that you would receive priority funding for expansion and growth over other rival trucking companies, reliable flow of income being our primary transport, strategic placement of truck stops, warehouses, and hub's dependent on the decided locations for our most profitable and trade oriented businesses. The neighborhood functions as a sort of self-operating small town. We will have a mine, a bank, factories, and stores - preferably one of every profession so that we can build it up to be the best in its class all of which would require priority and reliable transport. As our businesses grow and citizen count rises we will be needing to acquire more trucks and more trucking companies - in which case as our director of transportation you would receive a share in profits and management of. Throwing in your support and representing the neighborhood would be a win-win situation. I see that you've already come to some agreements with a Gun Shop and Gang Family. Ideally, if my idea is something you believe in then I would ask you to also urge them to consider joining us, unifying would surely benefit all. But if they do not share our view or wish to operate under our structure then I won't stop you from doing business with them (if they still decide to come to the same server as you / us) I'm just saying I think it would be more beneficial for you to sign on as a representative of us as a priority. -
Hello, I am Honeybadger - and I don't give a .... Well, you know it goes. I have been a part of the gaming community for over a decade across every genre of game there is. I tend to focus mainly on the competitive scene and team-oriented play so I know what it takes to participate in, and lead, a large group to a successful outcome. My current job allows me to play at work, so I will be able to play around 60+ hours a week or at the very least be available when needed. This provides me an excellent opportunity to not only take on a leadership role, but to also stay in the top % of players that you don't want to mess with. I have about 7 friends (so far) confirmed that will be joining me in this game from previous ones, with more to come closer to launch I'm sure. We will go in with a solid foundation and are looking for other similarly minded and skilled players to hop on board now to help drive this massive engine! With that being said - what I would like to attempt in this game is to form a sort of conglomerate that is advantageous to everyone involved. Our goals and mission will likely change on a monthly basis contingent on our biggest needs at that time, for example ; We have multiple store owners but not enough trucking companies to provide cheap and timely services so our mission for that month will be to absorb / buyout trucking companies that will operate within our conglomerate. Obviously I can not build and direct this massive engine on my own, so advisers will be appointed to help guide and discuss the appropriate paths for the "clan" to take that will be beneficial to everyone as a whole. An idea like this is too massive to explain in one sitting, so I will attempt to give brief descriptions of how every role will function within the conglomerate, as well as benefit from it. The current projected server capacity is 300 people. Our goal is to achieve at least 150 members of various occupations (mostly consisting of large businesses) thus allowing us to control the flow of the environment around us. Having server majority would enable us to appoint politicians of our choosing as well as secure a larger safety blanket for those operating somewhat outside of the law within our organization. What we are looking for - Advisers (Clan Officers) - Advisers will likely be players interested in the business owner and political career paths. People who are savvy at seeing the big picture and able to collectively discuss the appropriate paths and decisions the clan should make. This role will function as our own mini-government carving out the direction of our conglomerate as a group. Other jobs will include things such as organizing events, recruiting, keeping people in line etc, deciding which businesses to start / absorb. They will be respected members of our society. Please apply with me in private message if you think this is right up your alley. (Yes we will also need war adviser(s) this role will likely consist of Private Military or Police Captain, perhaps even a Godfather). Players interested in Business - I expect this to be the bread and butter of our conglomerate. Business owners can expect to receive startup loans with little to no interest rates, the advantages provided from receiving discounted materials and services from other businesses within our conglomerate, and the security of our private military if / when need be. Players who wish to be a business owner within our conglomerate will be thoroughly interviewed by myself and fellow advisers so that we may determine where and how to place the best leaders (We don't want corrupt business owners or people who can't keep their employees) This will help to ensure that The Neighborhood profits from it, the business thrives, and the jobs provided / salaries are of exceptional quality particularly for members of our organization. I want to have 1 possibly no more than 2 large companies in one area of expertise at a time that we can focus our efforts and resources to so that our companies don't end up rivaling themselves in terms of profit. We want to build and manage the "Go To" companies as it were. This would apply to such things as Technology companies, banks, casinos, clothing stores. So getting in line early to be the company we endorse would be beneficial to you. Other companies such as trucking companies or mining companies we could afford to have more of as those are general production and revenue streams that don't necessarily need to worry about rivals as the discounts and profits can be shared by all. Equally important to us as business owners, are the employees. Perhaps you just want to lead a casual life with good pay minus the hassle of running a company yourself, even if undecided - our conglomerate will potentially be able to offer a large variety of jobs for you to work at exceptionally higher pay rates and advantages than you can expect almost anywhere else. Players interested in Politics - Do you want to be a Governor? Perhaps a judge, or a conglomerate Lawyer? Our massive engine will allow us the numbers to appoint the appropriate people into these positions. You can expect this role to earn an extra "clan salary" on top of what the job provides. Job functions will include things such as forming and passing laws that benefit The Neighborhood, giving leniency to players in our organization as well as condemning rivals and keeping our players out of jail whenever possible. This may sound sort of, uhh.. Corrupt-ish, but outside of the advantages you receive from our business discounts, extra salary, and our numbers provided to appoint you - It's just kind of the way of the world. We will definitely take care of our loyal Politicians. Players interested in Police - Do you want to rise up the ranks, potentially even be a Chief of Police? We will have the numbers, and the juicy intel to make this happen. You can expect this position to be provided a "clan salary" on top of what the job provides. We will expect you to "look the other way" in clan related crimes, as well as put a stop to rival gang activity, but we will not require you to do anything that penalizes you or your careers progression. You can expect business discounts, cheap weapons, and plenty of access to intel for on-going crimes and receive promotions. Not to mention free donuts! I will personally fund your own donut shops. Players interested in Private Military / Gang Activities - Do you want to be our Godfather? The Neighborhood will accept applications for gangs and gang members who wish to operate cheaply and safely on our (very efficient / high traffic) store fronts. Gangs can expect to benefit from our business discounts as well as operate under our safety net of paid off politicians and policemen as well as aid in the riddance of rival gangs for total dominance. Private Military - What is a small town without it's own small Army? I'm not entirely sure how this role will function yet, but you can expect this position to be an extra salary on top of your current job and current clan role. Members of our private military will receive priority access to cheap weapons, and any combat gear / training provided in the game to form a stronger military. They will function as our protection blanket to protect our businesses if / when need be and fend off rival gangs etc. The best explanation I can give is to think of it as the largest HOA community in town, except on a larger scale. It's a conglomerate of multiple large companies working together and providing the advantages that each one has to offer such as discounts, efficient trade, large pool of combined resources while also providing the cooperation of politicians and security of private military and possibly even gang turf. At the start we will want 1 company of a different profitable trade (1 bank, 1 mine, 1 casino, 1 trucking company so on and so forth) so that we may build them up to be the biggest game in town as well as shut down opposing factions if / when need be, just through sheer numbers and a proper support system. If you feel like The Neighborhood is a proper fit for you, please apply via a private message or in the thread below after filling out these few questions. If you feel like The Neighborhood is a proper fit for you, please apply via a private message or in the thread below after filling out these few questions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Age? 2) Location? 3) How long have you been gaming? 4) Which role do you currently prefer? (Undecided is fine) 5) PvE, PvP, or Hybrid? 6) How many hours per week do you plan on playing? 6) What is the reason why you want to join? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's all! More information will be added as changes are made and information is obtained. Welcome to - The Neighborhood!

Sounds great, welcome to The Neighborhood! I will add you to my list of current members that will be shortly edited into the original post to serve as a head count. I'm also working on an intricate business model to exemplify how such a conglomerate would operate for easier understanding. I sense that both a Politician or Paramedic would be a valuable asset with plenty to do inside of a large organization such as this, and look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together! I would suggest copying my signature and placing your own role (If still undecided can just say citizen of The Neighborhood for now) so that members of the forums will know who you represent and be encouraged to join alongside us.

Take your time! It may not seem like much at first, but once we become a larger entity and start nailing down numbers and ideas all of the companies will thrive off of each other's well-being and essentially act as "investors" receiving profits from every company and form of revenue that we control. Getting in early would not only enable you to carve your own path in our organization, but to the world and environment that we as a collective group will choose to create.

The link is somewhat hard to see because its a light grey font on white background but its at the top of the "sample post" you see in my signature. It says "The Neighborhood - Recruiting!" Unfortunately I can't give you a direct link because when I do that's the format it pops up in. I feel like reading that may answer a lot of your questions about the mission of my organization - But the best explanation I can give is to think of it as the largest HOA community in town, except on a larger scale. In your case, we would likely be able to find "the best" mining locations early on in the game, and pool a % of resources to building your mine straight away so that nobody can claim it and we capitalize on the market earlier. The sooner our large companies start funneling in cash we can use it towards furthering our empire by applying them to loans for other members in our organization (provided a thorough interview) or even to afford acquisitions in which we buy out other smaller but decently sized businesses to further capitalize on cornering the market ; such as a mine. In which case you would also seize partnership / management of furthering your profits and contribution to the organizations progress. Having a large neighborhood like this would be beneficial for you in other ways such as cheap and reliable transport companies that we own. A reliable amount of return customers from within the organization, which even at a discounted price, would supply you with enough revenue to be effectively profitable. And of course there's the ability to advertise your company through our brand as well as accelerate recruitment rates from other members in the organization who may be undecided as to their career path, or even players who join along the way needing a job.

It would be interesting to see if this career path gets incorporated into the game - however I highly doubt many people will have cars right away, at least not fast ones they're willing to destroy. So this job may not be profitable for quite awhile. I also don't think we have very much information on how cars will be impacted by collisions and completely being totaled. I would expect to some extent the cars can be repaired at a car shop, but they may even go so far as to say that if you completely destroy your car it may just be gone forever with the option of having some parts salvaged. They could even make the tow truck service automatically generated by having to call a tow truck on your cellphone but it be NPC based. It will be interesting to see how they move forward indeed, but I'm sure even the developers haven't gotten that far yet to hammer out the fine details considering vehicles will come in the last module before release.

Feel free to head on over to my thread and show your support! This will aid in recruitment rates the more people that show their interest. If running a casino is your thing, you should throw your hat in the ring for wanting own / work at whichever casino we decide to endorse. I want to have 1 possibly no more than 2 large companies in one area of expertise at a time that we can focus our efforts and resources to so that our companies don't end up rivaling themselves in terms of profit. We want to build and manage the "Go To" companies as it were, so I don't expect to own and supply more than one casino. But once we're large enough and have the resources and advertisement I think a casino would be a great source of revenue for the conglomerate. If casinos cant be player owned, then perhaps you could organize poker events within our community and go from there At any rate I'm sure you will find plenty of career opportunities within our organization that you'll find appealing outside of casino life if that isn't an option!

Thanks for clarifying! I hadn't come across that segment of information yet. Will be interesting to see how a lot of these ideas come to fruition and even get changed over time. Perhaps later on when security is more easily accessible the game will allow some form of breaking and entering via hacking alarm systems or navigating guard rotations etc, who knows!?
-
I see you have Arma experience, you'll probably enjoy the community here as well then. What ideas have you come up with so far on what you want to do etc?
-
Haha, or at least a better one - for us every day average working people. Have you given any thought on what direction you'd like to go in Identity?

I enjoy casinos in my personal time as well, black jack and texas hold 'em are a hobby of mine. I would love to see casinos thrive in this game! I'm not sure if they've announced a casino option or not, but I can't imagine that they wouldn't. I think the only question would be is would they be able to be player built and run - or would they build NPC operated casinos and perhaps allow players to work basic jobs there until they find something better - or maybe not work there at all and have it simply for entertainment? Have you considered owning a casino yourself? Or perhaps another business venture? Regardless of which path you choose, check out the idea I posted in my signature and perhaps we can benefit from each other.

This is just my opinion from playing games similar to this one - Just being online / Doing minimal daily tasks for your company will increase it's efficiency. If you're offline for multiple days at a time (I suggest incorporating having to login at least to collect your paycheck every day - employees not logging in to collect their pay etc will show managers who's not producing for their companies) and obviously you would probably get fired by that person for not showing up to work, per logic. However I imagine there will also be separate NPC jobs and companies that you can work for that pay you based on how often you work for them - Example if you're a police officer you're only gonna get paid when you go there put on the uniform and do the duties. This would enable players to not get fired, since they only gain what they do and there's no real penalty to not performing the job. Also, players can not enter houses without being invited. Whether you only have to be invited once, and can then return later on when they're not there to rob them (since you've already been invited) is yet unexplained - at least to my knowledge. Hope this helps!

Let me ask you - If brokerage firms are not going to be in the game. Or if they won't be announced until much, much later (When stocks are developed and people actually have money to spend on them in a profitable yet expendable manner) what sort of business would you consider reforming into? With my idea I think something that may be up your alley is the management of a Casino since it largely deals with %'s and large amounts of money coming in and out. This would be something I would also look forward to really having in my community.

Real life experience and passion will inherently make you good at this profession in Identity I imagine. I think my empire will have great use for guns and ammunition. Perhaps you may be interested in working together in a more favorable arrangement? Take a look at this link for an idea I've posted and see if you'd be willing to sign on as an early representative, and potentially an accelerated recruiting rate?

Take a look at this link for an idea I've posted and see if you'd be willing to sign on as an early representative, and potentially an accelerated recruiting rate? Being the dedicated brokerage firm of a large and respected community will inevitably provide you lots of return customers as well as word of mouth to potentially be the only game in town. Take a look and work out the math in your head, let me know if you think it's a good investment for you.

I have an idea that could hasten the production of this bank as well as keep it busy and profitable, I plan on owning many businesses which may or may not consist of loans but will also help ensure the safety of all funds and the loyalty of our members in doing business with solely your bank. Perhaps you may be interested in working together in a more favorable arrangement? Take a look at this link for an idea I've posted and see if you'd be willing to sign on as an early representative, and potentially an accelerated recruiting rate? Let me know what you think.

I haven't seen many technology companies how is your recruiting progress coming along? I imagine that businesses will need software and hardware to function - and I plan on having a lot of them. I may consider being an investor. Perhaps you may be interested in working together in a more favorable arrangement? Take a look at this link for an idea I've posted and see if you'd be willing to sign on as an early representative, and potentially an accelerated recruiting rate? My idea will require lots of delivery / trucking services as well as secure trade routes which I think we could all profit from.

I agree that by establishing such a diverse company early you can potentially control the market of such things. I see a lot of potential ideas that could be incorporated as well with a larger support system. Perhaps you may be interested in working together in a more favorable arrangement? Having manpower and prestigious backers would also sway off unwanted threats and theft.

Sounds like a very nice company, and well thought out idea! I will also consider being a hefty investor. Perhaps you may be interested in working together in a more favorable arrangement? Thanks! I'm pretty excited for this game, it reminds me of the browser game Torn City that I played for a few years, except with graphics and more content and the such. I'm bringing a few buddies from there as well as some competitive friends I've played with over the years. So we've already got a rough idea of what we want to do, this is just what I was able to type up at work today. Hopefully other players will like the idea and help us grow even more!
