  1. SHOULD I

  2. SHOULD I

Should you do what the thread votes or your own will? ;-)
  3. why isnt the progress going up??

Based on how they update the funding page (see here), I think they may be making progress without updating the progress page. I would suggest the team that it's better to remove the information you are not keeping updated, but that's not a big deal either. I'm sure we are about to see either an increase of the update or even something delivered soon.
  4. Hi all. During the las month or so, I've been monitoring this page in a weekly basis: https://www.identityrpg.com/shop/ I have seen no changes in the last three weeks, so I'm wondering if this page is being updated, and if it is the case, figuring out if it is an automatic or a manual update. My point on figuring this out is just to find out if it is worth it to keep monitoring, but if the updates are not reliable, no point on keep looking at it. Now, I see more than one coming, so let me clearly state that I'm asking what I'm asking. This is NOT a "Hey look! no money is entering Identity! We are doomed!"... only to determine if it makes sense to keep looking at the page, same as with that progress that 'seems' stuck at 76% about the first module progress. There may be so many reasons why there haven't been changes, such as: - They are too busy to keep updating the page. - The number and quantity of pledges obviously go up right after a youtube video has shown some footage or some . - The last three weeks are right after Chrismas. Wallets are probably not quite full these days. - Maybe they only update the numbers once per month. etc. So, can anyone confirm to have pledged since January 22nd? If so, I can already conclude that the page is not being updated in a short basis. Thank you.
  5. Has anyone pledged during the last 3 weeks?

Just an update. As I check every weekend, today I have seen quite a significant step updards in the number of new citicens and no less impressive increase in the raised money. While not the same date in last month, this has happend around the same date, which makes me think this update is done more or less monthly. If anyone is interested, numbers have gone from last weekend report to today like this: 9,431 -> 10,798 citizens 371,507 -> 432,517 dollars raised Of course we are talking thousands. The 'coma' separator is because we are talking about USD. This increase is noticeabely higher than the previous month. I will probably start making some graphic, as there's really not much more to do until we get the first module, hopefully soon
  6. members reputation

Thank god, reputation and number of posts are not related. I think that all internet forums would be infinitely better if posts count was completely removed. I can't think of anything possitive about this number, but I can easily think of a number of bad side effects. People make a competition of anything that has numbers, and that is bad for a forum, like all that single-word-posts that clutters threads, like that stupid sense of entitlement feeling like "I've written three gazillion posts, therefore I'm right and you are wrong", and I could probably go on. On the contrary, I would leave the 'likes'. Only likes but no reference to total posts count. That would encourage members to write quality and and try at least to come up with help or to bring something new to the conversation.
  7. Will my beard or hairstyle get thicker over time?

Just opinion here, not that I know. But I doubt we're getting that level of detail. Growing hair means much, much more than you probably think it does at first...
  8. Where does everyone want to LIVE?

Not saying you are wrong, but there's something that doesn't quite 'fit' about saving your game when you sleep. Does such thing as 'saving' make any sense in an MMO? I will have my apartment in the 'big crowded' city. I don't remember the names, but I think there's one that resembles NY.
  9. Has anyone pledged during the last 3 weeks?

Thank you all for the helpful input. Based on the answers, I think I'll continue monitoring, but it probably makes more sense to do it perhaps in a monthly basis instead of weekly, and let's see how it goes.
  10. We have a Huge problem!

I may have misinterpreted you. This being the case as you state above, I agree for the most part. I mean, it's easy to be in the side of what we are after. Personally I think mostly every developer who does a good job, it is as a result of a mix of passion and money. We can think Identity developers are really after their dream game, but that's probably what I would say if I was in the team. Maybe they are trully 100% passionate about the game itself, but I can't help being halfway doubtful. Yet I give them my money because I want to contribute to their motivation. The paragraph you mention wasn't particuarly aimed to you. I obviously didn't do a good job separating it enough from the rest of the text where I was replying, and in that paragraph I expressed an impression I got about the majority of the thread. Turns out we are mostly in the same side on this one.
  11. We have a Huge problem!

Sorry, I don't buy this. I could equally think that the Identity devs, after having done Altis Life mod, said "Hey, you know we could make actual money from this?", and so they started Identity. Now, I'm NOT saying the Identity devs just want to make money or that they don't have passion. That would be unfair. As it is thinking that way about Everywhere. I don't know if they put any passion in making GTA, but they made a damn great thing of it. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with aiming to make money. Want to make lots of money? Then create an awesome game. Everyone happy. So you first say that they are not Rockstar, but then you assume this will be a P2W because "that's what they have been creating". This doesn't sound fair to me either. Moreover, we should give some thought about to what extent the gifts we backers are getting are purely cosmetic... I'm an Identity backer and want it to become the game I want to play, as much as you do, but I don't see why this means we should be against Everywhere. Besides, most of what I read here against Everywhere doesn't have very strong foundations.
  12. We have a Huge problem!

There is an evident interest in this new kind of RPG MMO, so it was a question of time someone else would start something. We, as gamers, should be happy about it. A bit of competition is what encourages speed, quality and fresh ideas in development. And that doesn't mean we'll lose Identity. It means we'll have more to choose from. Better yet, we don't need to decide. As long as we have some room in the hard drive and the money you spend on some beers, we can have it all.
  13. Analysis about the age of users

I was going to suggest additional split. 40+ really should be something more like: 40 - 50 50 - 60 60 - 70 70+ But out of the results it doesn't really seem to make much sense so far. It also tells something about how far is still OP from his forties (who I admit not having checked in his profile) But I'll tell you something: age doesn't necessarily pulls you out of gaming. Looks like this particular genre is not that attractive for this age though, while we have other genres certainly crowded. Just a curiosity.
  14. Life has passed so quiclky that, in my forties, I no longer have the energy nor the motivation to build a great empire. It's time for me to enjoy whatever I got, and I legitimately deserve now to make the most of my time. Yet I still have quite a few years until retirement. I still need to care about money. But just to cover my needs. So I will not found a company. I won't be hiring staff or make a business plan. I will be taking what the market has for me to earn my meals and my pizza with a six-pack for dinner while I enjoy a good film on TV. Need a quick errand? Don't have a car and need a ride? Need some furniture or appliance fixed? You forgot to buy your wife some flowers for your anniversary? How about a friend you can tell your problems for a small fee? Call me.
  15. Growing excitement?

There are also some full time devs on it according to this (bold font for emphasis done by me): EG: How would you guys describe a typical day in the office while working on Identity? AE: [...] We only have a few dedicated employees on salary, and a lot of freelance artists that we tend to return to for the quality for their work.[...] But for those of us who work full-time on Identity start our day at 9:00 AM EST, and end at 5:00 PM EST, but spend the last hour of work playing games as a group to ensure the comradery, communication, and morale stays strong. At least to some extent it gives an idea of a certain continuity. It definitely doesn't sound the same as being some developers that only make progress in their free time.
  16. question about starting a business

To put the topics you can read in this section a bit in context, I'd say there is some mixture of initiatives based on what we know and some of them including a bit of hype on top of it, so the end result may or may not be 100% what you can actually expect in the final game. Let's not forget that, so far, we know that there will be lots of possible activities the player can take, jobs and careers, and some of them have been more defined than others. There are business the player can own, such as stores, but some others the players cannot own, such as night clubs. Even if you own a shop, there is probably an NPC taking care of it, since you are not expected to sit in your shop all day waiting for people to come in. Other kind of activities allow us to begin establishing our business, such as lawyers, truck drivers, furniture manufacturers... the details how each of these businesses will work is not yet so clear. Finally there is also the emergent gameplay. Guns will be rare, but maybe a dedicated gang can try and get them and organize their group, then offer their services in a wide variety of ways. Those may not be a business in game 'per se', but nothing stops you from actually making it work. That said, you don't need to announce your business here and, depending on what business you are thinking of, you certainly could open one similar to another and compete. I have only seen that servers will have a cap in the number of government players and cops, but saw nothing about businesses cap.
  17. The Neighborhood - Recruiting!

After a bit of time, I sort of know that my role within The Neighborhood will fall into the 'Business owner' category, so I can be switched there from the current 'undecided' status. My business is a Jack-of-all-trades kind. I know it doesn't really give much detail, but that's because there's simply not much detail to give.
  18. Will Police/Cities have speed radars?

Will detectives be an actual thing? Not saying it won't, just that I haven't seen anything about a detective mechanic. To my understanding, out of the box, you can be civil or cop, and crime will automatically set a wanted status to some level. Otherwise, given that you can't leave stuff around, how can evidences be collected? Will a detective be able to just set a wanted status over someone because they think they are guilty?
  19. Recap Vote: What you want to be?

Mainly civilian. But the game offers some possibilities too interesting to just ignore them. For the most part I prefer an easy life, but how not to try how's life in prison for a while? How would I do as a homeless (despite I plan having a studio apartment)? etc.
  20. Corrupt police

I think it's quite an easy mechanic to implement that one to avoid corrupt police. Opinion follows: Pretty much as JAMESLUCK01 said, removing your police status when commiting crime is enough. Not only that, you well might get a wanted status and, if I was to implement it, I would give a higher wanted status, since using your police status to make it easier for you to commit crime, that crime would be higher.
  21. Greetings from Denmark!

Hi @Immoxb Yes it will soon enough. Ok, maybe not the game itself, but at least the first module should be coming within a couple of months, so will see you in Town Square. Welcome!
  22. Hello from Saudi Arabia !

Hi @Weed How nice to see people from all around the world. Welcome!
  23. Hello From Philippines Question??

Hi @Gpool First of all, welcome to the forums. Maybe you want to introduce yourself in the introductions forum and let us know a bit about yourself. Most of the questions of the newcommers are already answered somewhere, please check my signature and you'll find resources to answer these and give you much more information about the game Yes, it will eventually make it to Steam. About the prices, I'm not a dev and cannot say, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be lowered. In fact the current price for the whole game is dirty cheap compared to the actual price of many games and probably to the price it will finally be on launch. Prices will only grow overtime when the game goes beta or actual launch. Not that you have to do it now, prices are not going to change in the next days, but if you really plan on getting it, better now than later when prices go up!
  24. Making your own house?

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. The existing cities have been described (check here for more input), and the randomness of players building their own stuff would would rapidly break the work the theam has done to create the feeling for each city, landscape etc. Next is, I don't see an easy way to replicate those accross the different servers without impacting the whole thing. I'm fine with the ability to customize the interior of my own apartment and actually prefer the world to be like it was designed by the developers.
