I was extremely doubtful but then Paratus put me on the fence. Yesterdays stream sold it for me.

As I am sure you all know, Identity is coming from Arma 3 Roleplay, which Asylum also created I believe. I currently play on https://arma3liferemastered.com/, which is a customised Arma 3 Life server. It is whitelisted but it is well worth the hassle. Give it a go if you enjoy this kind of thing, its a good server and I love it.

I actually was against the devs, thinking they were scamming us until Paratus responded to my criticisms. Completely changed my opinion of the whole thing. This is an early access game, and while I still think they should have done a lot differently, I am 100% with them now. They didn't give a new release for the TS module, which some people find annoying but I actually praise them for it. It is what they should have done in the first place, don't set yourself unrealistic deadlines. They completely deserved the hate they got for both delays, but they completely deserve some praise for not making the wrong decision again. I am back on the side of the devs.

A while ago, I conducted a test to see who was able to crack my code between the criminals and the police. I liked the idea, so I have decided to try something similar. I have prepared a thorough court case for two law firms to tackle. One side will act as the prosecution, and one side will act as the defence for a (made up) Josh Stanson. I will act as the judge, and if at least 6 third parties are interested then we can have a jury as well. Both sides will be able to enquire to me about additional details, for example you can ask me to "check" credit card records etc. as you are unable to do this yourself in a made up scenario. Please reply to this if you are interested, and if you aren't part of a firm don't worry, I will accept independent lawyers too. First come first served.

Last month, you stated that you were nearly done but needed a little bit longer to finish up, and so gave yourselves an extra month to deliver the TS module. This, was clearly intentional lies. Judging by your dev tracker, you haven't completed UI, UX, gameplay, animations, 2D graphics, character art, environment, props, technical art, or systems. How could you have possibly been 'nearly done' last month when the most basic elements weren't completed. Last delay, you made it out as if you just needed to smoothen out some animations or design a new font, which was intentional deceitfulness. I ask you this, what have you completed 100%? Because it seems to me the most basic elements of a game aren't even close to being done, so what exactly is done?

Thank you. The fact that you responded is enough to restore some confidence. Good luck, and I know many others are complaining about it but I actually appreciate that you didn't put a date on the release.

I can't even refund it since refunds are done through paypal and it's been more than 180 days so I don't have an option

Aww. Thank anyway Lucky

Big downloads (above 20GB) can take a good few hours to download. Will we have the ability to download this game before it comes out, and just have it 'locked' until the 23rd, to enable us to play it ASAP. I have already put up with delays, that extra few hours will be a bummer to have to wait while everyone with fast download speeds can play.

You are reading into what I said too much. You lose more when you die than you lose by being arrested, and considering it won't be as easy to come back from losing lots of items, people will hopefully rather go to jail.
-
The problem is those games don't have a prison system. Sure, a cop can click a button and send you to an allocated "prison" area, but that's not a prison system, that is a teleportation system. The devs for this game have stated that the prison system will be like a whole new game in and of itself. You won't just be standing in an area for 40 minutes, you will be following a timetable, joining prison gangs, working on your escape or playing sports. Yes, you will lose all of your illegal items but you lose everything when you die, legal or not. People rather die in games like GTA and Arma because they can lose all of their cheap stuff and illegal guns but right away get the opportunity to regain them all back with the millions they own. In Identity, you can die and lose everything or get arrested and keep some things. You won't be able to just die and run back to buy your stuff again because money is hard to get in Identity unlike Arma.

advice If You Haven't Made Up Your Mind On Buying This Game Yet..
JoelKeys posted a topic in The Town Square
I am no advocate for the activity of the dev team lately as I am sure some of you know all too well, I have criticised the behaviour over the last few weeks greatly, however I feel the need to say some things for those considering buying the game early but haven't quite made their mind up. Just to get this straight off the bat, I fully recommend buying the Founders Package. It is currently $30, and you get both the game on release and the beta access, and here's why I think you should get it. When I backed this game, I instantly assumed my money was burned. This way no matter what, I won't be too bummed about the loss. I still hold true to this philosophy when backing any project, always assume the worst. Assume the project will be cancelled and you will lose your money. Same thing with cryptocurrencies, don't buy in with more than you are willing to lose. Using this idea, the founders package seems to be the best option to minimise your losses and maximise your gain. If the game completely flops or is cancelled entirely, you are only down $30. It's more than you'd like but hey ho, shit happens. If the game completely takes off and is perfect, you get access to everything and you spend $30 for it, as opposed to the $60 you will pay after town square release. If you buy in now and it fails, you lose $30. If you buy in now and it succeeds, you have saved $30. If you don't buy in now and it fails, you have saved $30. If you don't buy in now and it succeeds so you decide to buy it, you are paying an extra $30. As you can see, there is no reason not to buy in now. In fact, it is less riskier if the only thing stopping you buying in is the chance of the game flopping. Either way you will either lose $30 or save $30, so why not take that risk with the added benefit of getting to play the beta. I know hopes haven't been so high for the game recently, I agree with everyone condemning the development team fully and I think they deserve every bit of criticism coming their way, but this philosophy is why I will never refund the game. To me, my money is already lost and now I am just hoping for something good to come out of it. -

Well I think not only is it fair to criticize the developers - but necessary. No criticism means they could spew out a terrible game and get away with it, the feedback people give, both positive and negative, helps shape the game. -
I can't physically vote on this one for some reason, but I vote Lucious of course.

Why is the Community Devided Right Now ? (after G-Video)
JoelKeys replied to ConnorKastalk's topic in The Town Square
No one thinks we have the right to have all behind the scenes videos, but we have the right to ask about how the project we have backed is going. -
We know how long it takes, some of us have been waiting years for this game. We understand, and we love the dev team, but we aren't under obligation to just 'be glad' that we have new footage. If you don't like something, you speak up about it. That is how problems are solved. You should be thanking everyone criticising this footage because it will only make the game better.

I am starting to get really tired of people who are defending the devs here as if I am attacking them. Please quote me where I stated that they have to listen to us? Let me save you some time; I didn't. Our criticisms of this video are not us hating on the dev team or the game, we are saying we don't like the video. Why is that so taboo to say? I am under no obligation to enjoy everything they put out just because I have pledged early. The dev team do not need to listen to us, but we are absolutely entitled to voice our opinion on something we have paid for. But please, point out to me where I have said that the devs have to do anything other than give us access to the game? Now you have written a much more educated response, but your comprehension of what I am saying is still flawed. I never once stated that we don't have to accept the risks of development. Never. However I do agree with your last point. I hate the C&P video, but I cannot complain about anything else so refunding it would be stupid. I love the game, not the video. Fully agree.

Well no I am sorry but this is not a fair criticism. We have been asked to back a product which is not out yet, we as consumers are obviously going to want to see a snippet of what it is we are donating our money to, and concept art doesn't do that. Not only can we demand to see progress, we should. We have a responsibility to ensure our investment doesn't make us regret our decision, and so we have every right to ask for more videos and updates. We also have every right to criticise a video we didn't like. Just because we asked for a video doesn't mean we have to like it, in fact the whole point of asking for a video is to see if we like it or not so we can give the devs feedback.

I am very sad to say that the latest gameplay video has left me disappointed. I understand that most of that video was placeholders, and I mean no disrespect to the development team when I say this but that is sadly not a good enough excuse in my opinion. The Town Square module is supposed to be released in just over four weeks, and all we can see is a two minute clip of placeholders? I am afraid that doesn't work for me. I understand the people defending the dev team, I really do. I know first hand how difficult game development is, but I feel like you are just defending them because of the work they put in without taking into regard the poor quality of the video. The video wasn't great. It is okay to say that without making it a personal attack on the dev team. It wasn't bad enough for me to ask for a refund, but it did leave me disappointed. We were promised a gameplay video to show us what the game would be like. That is not what we got. If everything we saw, from the lighting to the animation, was a placeholder, how is that showing us what the game will actually be like? I just want to reiterate, my problem is not with the poor video. I understand fully that every game is poor before it is released, that is why is isn't released. My problem is we were told we were getting a demonstration of the game, and that is not what we got. I loved the housing video. Why? Because I wasn't told about it prior. That video is how I discovered Identity. I enjoyed the seamless changing of designs and colours, I enjoyed the extensive customisation options, I loved that we were given a commentary. But I would be incredibly disappointed if the devs turned around tomorrow and said, "Now hang on, everything we showed you in that video was just placeholders and not representative of how it will actually work in the game," I would be let down by that. What did the crime video actually show us if half of the stuff wasn't representative of the real game? Now I will give credit where it is due. I think the shooting scene looked very good. I liked how the meth cook character took the shots to the chest, I liked everything about that whole scene. The animations for that scene were even good in my opinion. I also liked how it appears that the drug manufacturing process will require thought and effort as opposed to being handed to you on a silver spoon. However, the rest of the video left me dissatisfied with more doubt than I am comfortable with. The blue smoke was way too obvious. It shouldn't be that easy to detect whatsoever. I think driving seems a bit tedious, having to put on the handbrake, look at the door to get out, etc. Finally my closing statement. I think the dev team have done a fantastic job with this game judging off of the initial two videos. I loved them both. The crime and punishment one, however, left me disappointed. And that is okay. You are allowed to dislike the content the devs put out now, because the game is not out yet and it can still be moulded. Although I am disappointed, I do not blame the dev team for lack of effort or anything of the sort, I simply don't think that video was for me. I appreciate everything the development team have done over the last few years, and my confidence and trust is still with them. This is just my personal feedback, overall I am still excited for the game, it is just this one video has disappointed me, especially after the long wait.

We still need a prosecution guys.

gameplay video Sad to Admit I Am Dissapointed
JoelKeys replied to JoelKeys's topic in The Town Square
Oh I see where the misunderstanding is. What I am saying is that everything in this video is going to have been polished and made to look nice for the sake of the video. This is not just some random area of the map, it has been specifically chosen because it looks better than anywhere else or they would have recorded this video in the better place, so what I mean is that if this is the best they can offer it worries me. -

I don't think you are listening sir. I have been here for well over a year now, and I have full faith that I will be satisfied with the Town Square Module. This post is merely expressing my disappointment with this one specific video. It was a bad video. I am not saying the Town Square will be bad, I am saying the C&P video was.
