Patience is not simply the ability to wait, it's how we behave while we're waiting.
JoelKeys replied to Veeblefetzer's topic in The Town Square
I think it's warranted to an extent. It's okay to criticise, it's the way these people present their arguments that bugs me. Explain the problem, explain what's wrong and explain why you are annoyed. Maybe even include a potential resolve in there as well if you have one. There are many concerns I share with these complainers, I just don't consider myself on 'their side' because instead of discussing concern, people are venting anger. I don't actually think you need to share your concerns respectfully, you can be annoyed and make it clear, but when you are just complaining about having to wait then yes it can get annoying. My issue isn't the wait, it's the process and why it is taking so long. If I was waiting and thought I was getting something worth the wait then it's okay, its what we are getting over such a long time period that annoys me. Once again though, it's how you present your concerns. I think there have been plenty of red flags here to have genuine complaints about, but just venting anger is not okay. I do think there are two ends to this spectrum. There are people who are just diehard fanboys and absolutely refuse to allow any negative comment or implication whatsoever about the devs. You aren't helping anyone by sucking up and refusing to criticise, you are actually making matters worse by making the developers think everything is okay. Everything is not okay, and instead of one side complaining about the same thing over and over when there's no way to solve the issue, and the other side policing what people say about the developers, we should all work together to explain in a productive way why we are annoyed and what could help ease up the frustration that a lot of the fans share. -
I actually disagree. I bought it with no expectations and I am loving it so far. Yes, it can be boring at times but overall there are plenty of POI's, guns aren't extremely hard to find, zombies aren't too easy or too hard, loot seems to be slightly unbalanced though. I find it very hard to locate food. I find more can openers than actual canned food. Overall, decent game, worth the £15 it costed, and I will keep playing it until it bores me. So far, I am enjoying the crafting system and inventory system. I like the combined weight and inventory slots, works really well I think.

The thing that interested me is that when the plagiarism accusations came out the devs were straight on and the moderator locked the topic. Almost like they entered damage control mode. I don't like talking bad about the devs because I am sure some of them read these, but I do stick up for them when I can.

Look, the game looks alright. Don't think it will be anything groundbreaking. I've seen gameplay, and it looks better than your usual zombie survival game, but not by a lot. Will give it a go, but please don't expect much.

And pre-ordering Identity got you certain benefits as well depending on which package you got. These are additional micro transactions, GTA was not selling shark cards before GTA Online was released.

Its literally an exact copy with a redone background. But whatever, now I would like to ask you for some "green flags" so I can see why you are too dismissive of this.

Holy fuck. This is a huge red flag for me. Here is a better one (the one from the reddit post) https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1504-E-Mountain-Dr-Santa-Barbara-CA-93108/15880573_zpid/

Identity vs Project Oasis World vs civil contract vs Nine To Five vs New Life
JoelKeys replied to DanDud88's topic in Arcade
Makes you wonder why all these companies don't pool their funds and all work on the one game. They each clearly have their own distinguishing features, and each project has aspects which the others could clearly benefit from while taking on some improvements itself. -
Fair enough, but the excuse was always that there was huge bugs that spawned more bugs. This mentions that they have all been dealt with, so if we don't have the module in a reasonable amount of time then we know that there is no truth in this post.

Anyone here play poker? I love it, but I am only 17 so a lot of my friends don't have an interest. If anyone would like to play via Tabletop Simulator or some free website I would love to!

I like this so much. It always annoyed me when pistols take 14 shots to the chest to kill someone but an automatic AR-15 does the job in 3.

The last Identity Insider was in video form. We still don't have a dev blog. It is not unreasonable to expect more from this. They put off a dev blog to write a more specific dev blog.

So no video?

Tracker makes no sense? Why is it Taking so long?
JoelKeys replied to TOPGUNGUY123's topic in The Town Square
You are comparing a development task to pregnancy. That is absolutely ludicrous. Of course spreading one task over four people will make it get fixed faster, hence why companies hire more than one developer. -
This about sums up my opinion of the forums. People are complete fanboys. I appreciate the developers, but also understand that they have fucked up. Just because you are admitting the devs have handled this whole project wrong doesn't mean you hate them. These people absolutely refuse to admit any fault on the devs side. It's something I have noticed a certain forum moderator do frequently too, instead of accepting responsibility for their mistakes they blame it on the consumers (us). It isn't the devs fault for missing two deadlines, its our fault for not being patient. It's not the devs fault for taking ages, its our fault for not understanding how developing games works. It's not the devs fault for putting all these micro transactions and overpriced addons, it's our fault for not understanding how expensive development is. It's always our fault, I rarely if ever see an apology, always excuses. I'm not attacking the devs, as I have stated, I am on their side, just stating an observation.

The Elephant In The Room that most backers ignore !
JoelKeys replied to thevopia's topic in The Town Square
I'm not talking about that, I am talking about the previous two release dates where we have been told the module is releasing on a date, then a few days before the date they have delayed it. These dates were fairly recent. How did they not know until days before the dates that they wouldn't be able to release on time when we are here, months later, still waiting? Surely it would have been very apparent, very early on that these dates were unrealistic. -

The thing I am most confused about is if it is taking this long since the tracker was announced, how on Earth did they ever expect to release on their previous two "release dates"? Surely they could have looked before they even set the release dates and said "hmm, we have another 6 months of work to do, maybe we should wait to announce a release date." -
Again I must disagree. In House Flipper, all you can do is place floor and wall tiles. I know because I have played it extensively. You can't control much else except in terms of furniture. In Identity, you can change the walls, skirting boards, ceiling textures etc. To challenge your point, What is the point in anything? What is the point in becoming a police officer. What is the point in making money? Ultimately, everything is meaningless, you don't do it because there is a point, you do it because you enjoy it.

Cashiers are all NPCs as confirmed by devs.

I disagree. The apartment customisation will be a huge part of it, house flipper is an entire game dedicated to decorating apartments and houses, so I think people are underestimating how good that portion of the TS will be.

Doesn't that only hide it for myself? -
Don't quote me but I think in the last gameplay stream it was mentioned that there are a few different kinds to chose from in TS. Again, I am going off of memory so it may be incorrect.

One down, two to go! Let's try and guess the Town Square release date, just for fun.
JoelKeys replied to Aerotactics's topic in The Town Square
To be fair I don't think people's main issue is they don't know how long a game takes, but rather how little seems to be getting done in that time. There hasn't really been any development curve at all. They seem to have been stuck in one place for a very long time. Typically there is a clear and concise development curve when new games are being released with a lot of community interaction etc. etc.
