I didn't know until I joined the discord and asked the members, so for those of you who aren't aware, @Beach_Ball has left Asylum. Here is his message. I removed the emoji's ass they are huge on the forums. What are your thoughts on this? I find it concerning but I am curious to hear your thoughts.

I know I am late, because for anyone not in the Discord this has been unspoken of. Hence why I am making a post, lots of us probably don't know because we aren't in the Discord.

How is that nonsense? We invested in the idea, if we don't like the progress so far or the direction the game is going, obviously we will withdraw our investment.

But it's misleading. It claims there was an update 22 hours ago, when there was not an update 22 hours ago. Updating it is not the same as letting us know it is up to date. For something to update, it requires a change to have been made. If a change was not made, it wasn't updated. All that tracker does is tell us when someone last checked it, not when it was last updated. Why are they doing this? Because saying 'updated 22 hours ago' looks better than 'updated 3 months ago.'

The tracker currently says last updated 22 hours ago. What was changed 22 hours ago to warrant an update?

This is clearly a troll, how can you not tell?

I suppose there is a lot of people who took this is a purchase rather than investment. I appreciate you two actually talking and explaining now, before it seemed like I was just getting shooed off the thread for disagreeing. Not saying it was you two in particular, but it's nice to have a discussion rather than an argument.

Well I kind of agree but also disagree. You might invest in the idea but change your mind once you see where the project is going, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Although I do agree, refunding for a delay is pretty dumb. You seem very sensible and level headed, thanks for your opinion.

You are right. It is our choice to invest, but why do you think that means we can't be annoyed when our expectations aren't met? You have every right to cancel dinner plans with your wife, that doesn't mean she cannot be annoyed at you for it. This is what you need to get into your head, no one is saying Asylum have committed any crimes. No one is saying that Asylum HAVE to listen to us. We chose to invest in a project, and if we aren't happy with the way that project is going, we can be annoyed at that. You are ignorant to blatant facts, which is that the developers of this game have failed on many levels, and while we understood this could happen coming in, that doesn't mean we have to just bend over and take it. We can voice that we are incredibly frustrated. The developers agree with me! Here is a quote directly from beachball to me in private messages. Look, I am not getting into another debate here. I'm not attacking the developers, I am not personally attacking you, I am just tired of the people who think that because we were aware of the risks coming in and chose to back anyway, that automatically means we cannot be annoyed when expectations aren't met.

This shows you have a basic understanding of how the law works. I am involved with law in real life, and if you knew how many people online think that failure to mirandize your suspect automatically results in the entire case being thrown out, you'd laugh.
-
You guys are the ones implying you have inside knowledge, I'm saying we don't know so don't be frustrated at people who don't praise the devs
-
We don't know that. We have been told that. Just like we have been told many things.
-
It doesn't mean that. That's what you think it means. This could take god knows how long, stop being a brown noser. They could have handed these keys out 5 months ago, it doesn't make a difference.
-
You're preaching to the converted. I am personally very happy with the progress, but I understand why some people may not be.
-
I appreciate the steam keys but so what? It's literally nothing, doesn't even show up in your library. Just because we are moving doesn't mean we are going somewhere. I can fully understand why he is still frustrated

Can we please have some honesty and transparency?
JoelKeys replied to wiebley's topic in The Town Square
Fair enough, my problem isn't with you though, it's with the community members. I admit you guys could have handled this better, but I am not annoyed at you for it. I am annoyed at the few die hard fans who aren't willing to admit any fault on your behalf. -

Fair enough. I apologise. I believe what I said but should have worded it better, I am just fed up of people wondering why everyone is so annoyed. I am not going to retract my statement about brainwashed people. I am not talking about people who disagree with me, because I actually agree with both sides. I am referring to the people who absolutely refuse to admit any fault on Asylums part and draw every lie and suspicious action down to us 'not being patient' or 'game development takes time'. No one is saying you just make a game and people play it, but after 3 years we expect a little bit more than what we seem to be getting. -
Guys come on. We were told apartment customisation was going to be a thing in the TS module, I know for a fact we were because it was the feature I was most excited about. I have talked about it before. Now we are being told you won't be able to customise anything in your apartment but you can explore the base standard apartments? This is just going back on your word AGAIN. Come on!
-
How on earth do you know what he means? Do you have some information none of us do? You need to climb out of their asses. I am taking it at face value. He specifically says Why would there be user placed furniture when buying an apartment anyway? You have absolutely no idea what he meant, and if he comes out and says that I am right you will come up with another excuse instead of apologising. You developer fanboys are really getting annoying.

I sure well hope so.

Patience is not simply the ability to wait, it's how we behave while we're waiting.
JoelKeys replied to Veeblefetzer's topic in The Town Square
So again, instead of addressing any points you spin it round by shifting the blame onto me. I know what I am in for, I haven't refunded and wouldn't consider doing so. I am personally okay with the waiting, but I can't stand the people like yourself who just brown nose the developers. I know the developers work hard and I respect them and appreciate that they are a small company on their first project. However I also know that the developers have messed up a lot on this project, and while I am fine to forgive to an extent and I am perfectly fine continuing to back them financially, I appreciate that the mistakes and mess ups on the developers behalf are negatively effecting their fan base, and that is not the fault of the community. You can support something while still admitting fault in it. Look I have difficulty putting my thoughts into words so in short, I am being patient and I am okay with waiting and supporting the developers, but supporting the developers isn't mutually exclusive with calling them out when they mess up. I am sticking up for the people complaining because I understand why they are annoyed and upset, and in my opinion, while I am not going to just straight up attack the developers, I think the amount of whining is a result of their own doing and it is completely warranted. I do not like posts like this calling out the ones complaining because 'they are kids' or 'they have no idea how game development works'. We have game developers on these forums and most (if not all) agree that Asylum have handled this whole thing horribly. It's immature people like you who resort to ad hominem to try and boost yourselves above those complaining by acting like you have this next level of patience and experience. You don't. You can admit that the developers aren't handling this well, and continue to support them. -

JoelKeys replied to Veeblefetzer's topic in The Town Square
I'm done with this superiority complex that some of you have. Being patient is one thing, but you cannot just abuse the patience of your customers. We have been patient, but you can only be patient for so long before you are just a push over. Most people understood the first delay. A lot of people understood the second delay. Some people understood the third. Every time you fail to deliver on a promise, you lose peoples respect and you lose peoples patience. If the developers stuck to their word, we wouldn't have all these people complaining. We have waited. We have been patient, and the developers took advantage of our patience and now what we have are people who can put two and two together and see something fishy is going on. I can give you a list of dodgy things that seem to be happening here, but you will continue giving excuses on behalf of the developers and you will continue blaming my criticisms on me being a 'kid' when you have no idea how old I am. You ever hear the saying 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me'? People (for the most part) are not complaining about the wait, if we were waiting three years for something worthwhile then there wouldn't be an issue. We have been waiting for three years for a tiny portion of a very large game. You can pretend you know more than everyone else or you have this next level of patience, the truth is you are being a push over. You are the immature one here, not the people complaining. You can disagree with the impatience, but any person with any level of competence should at least understand why people are getting annoyed. The developers for this game have continued to give out false promises/blatant lies, they have been caught plagiarising, they banned a member of the forums who shared their concerns, they have a community manager who (with all due respect) only actually replies to the threads requesting a refund, and they heavily moderate threads which call them out on all of this shit. Have we ever even had an apology for any of it? Have they ever compensated us for any of it? Maybe a 'Sorry we have to delay again, here is a short video showcasing what we have so far so hopefully you aren't too disappointed'? Or is that too much to ask? What have we actually received for the three year wait? Two game play videos and a couple of glorified teaser trailers? I have presented you with a real case here. Do yourself a favour and get off your high horse and actually address this with a response that doesn't spurt the same phrases that all of the cultists on the forums use. Don't come off with shit excuses like 'Game development takes time', or 'You just need more patience'. Give me a real response. Address my points. I am going to do my due diligence. I am going to message plenty of professionals to provide statements which back up the fact that the work these developers are doing is sub-par at best. I know Asylum work hard. But unfortunately they aren't listening. They only actually reply to the threads which call them out, which means that people feel the need to call them out if they want a response. Admit for once that none of this is as a result of a bad community, but horrible community management. -

I agree with you here and you have made a genuine criticism, but a lot of the people here are brainwashed and won't see this as a genuine criticism.
