A GTX 970 would definitely do the trick as far as your graphics card, but like Corn said, I would run 8 GB ram at the very minimum. What I would do, if this is an option for you, is save up about $600-700 and custom build a desktop (don't worry, it's not overly complicated if you do some research on google). It'll be worth it in the long run. Even if you're reaching minimum specs, it's gonna be slow and it will take a while to render the game world, especially if you're on a server with over 200 players.

What games are you currently playing while waiting?

I can help you if you want. Feel free to PM me. I've been using it for years. Callout mods, police radio and toolbox mods, VocalDispatch mod to talk to dispatch with a mic, spikestrips, modded cruisers and uniforms, you name it. -

I used to play a lot of the truck sims. I think I'm even still part of a company on American Truck Sim. I play GTA V mostly for LSPDFR but its loaded with mods to support it for immersive feel. -
In-Game Name Format

That was my hope. I'll feel right at home after my many years on the SAMP servers. -
Ah okay, I misunderstood. Thank you for clarifying.

An interesting concept I thought of that could be up to the discretion of the police chief/sheriff. Depending on where you are, certain areas have different colored emergency lights on the police cruisers. For example, Los Angeles uses blue + red colored emergency lights where as here in Vermont, we have all blue lights on all of our city, sheriff and state cruisers. Would it be possible to have the choice to customize either by having the head of police outfit all cruisers with their choice of light setup or have the officer be able to choose by entering a police garage? Just a thought.

Any word on houses with both attached and detached garages? Or what the maximum number of garage bays confirmed is?

I have a One, but the only games I really play for it are Mortal Kombat XL, WWE 2K16 and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 with the fiance. XBL: xKing Squirrelx -
Sounds great to me already. As long as theres a decent variety of different types of housing, I'm pretty satisfied.
-
That's good to know. Has there been any confirmation on the variety of housing? i.e. trailers, condos, larger houses or even mansions eventually if you end up doing really well.
-
At this point, I'd wait and let @Motown or @Paratus shine in on this. It's really a matter of how much Asylum's hardware can handle.
-
Now, is that to say we can only own a home in one of the 3 major cities? Or will there also be houses, apartments, condos, ect spread out in the countryside too?
-
They have stated that they want it to be clear of who's a cop and who's not so even any kind of "off-duty patrolling" most likely would be prohibited. It's a nice idea though.
-
Houses and property is also instanced basically in another dimension from the rest of the game world. I believe that's another reason it wouldn't work. I really do like the suggestions for increased immersion and roleplay, but as far as beta and release is concerned, it's not likely unfortunately.

Quoted from the official Identity Twitter; Identity @Identityrpg Aug 9 @chico_lorota The only way anyone can enter your house is if you invite them. It's a necessary evil to maintain good performance. Maybe in the future when they are able to upgrade hardware and equipment but for now, this is the plan for housing.
-
The reason they have houses instanced with invite only is for performance reasons. They want to keep the game performing well, especially with the anticipated max slot of 300 players on a server.

Radio Stations

To be honest, I'd rather see them put more time into development right now than answering all our questions, especially since Motown is also a 3D artist for the game. -
Will player owned vehicles save where they were last parked? Such as parking lots or say you bought a commercial truck and parked in on your property like in your driveway or side of the house (not in a garage), will the server save those until next time you login or will they end up respawning to a garage and be limited to garage bays?
-
It'd be pretty nifty if we had take-home cruisers.
-
I apologize for the necro, but I felt it was better than creating a new topic about the same thing. Any current Rust players around? Would be nice to have a community server for us all to play on together, even if it does involve raiding and looting.
-
Highly considering it, just not sure if I want to remove all my mods, haha. I play a looooot of LSPDFR.

What fields of police are you looking forward to?
Vyndictus replied to AmberH's topic in The Precinct
If there will be State Troopers, that will be my preferred field of policing. If not, I will be okay with City police. I will be taking the role of your every day officer. Patrolling, protecting and serving our community. -
I have RP'd as an officer of the law in many servers in SA-MP, Arma 2 and spent a LOT of time in realistic patrols on LCPDFR (SP and MP) as well as LSPDFR. And not that it really counts for anything but I made it through part of the entrance exams in my local police academy. I aced the written but failed the flexibility.

As long as we have Ford Crown Victoria's, I will be perfectly satisfied.
