Can we please have some honesty and transparency?
wiebley replied to wiebley's topic in The Town Square
If you are referring to my use of the term 'deludeds' what else would you refer to them as? apologies if this offended you but call a spade a spade... Some who believes in something against any evidence and just because someone said to I would say was deluded. And before you say what is my proof to believe in my view is this development is the absence. The absence of any true proof of solid development (aside from the 500 different wardrobe and jacket designs) and the absence of any actual belief from the devs. No one has the bottle to come forward and say 'this is what we are doing, this is how long it's going to take, and this is when we will release module 1. And before you point me over to a bloody discord channel or twitch stream... Why is all this 'information' hidden in streams and on discord channels? If they have anything concrete to say, you can bet your ass it would be plastered all over every page on this website which it is not. -

Completely agree. Although I think any sane person who is not deluded by their faith in the devs know that even when released there is nothing to do. Let's put the deludeds to one side as there isn't really a place for them in reality. Im surprised but reassured that this original post has had so much chat, either side of the argument. It does show there is a desire for some actual honesty about where the game is in terms of progression and any Dev reading this must either know it's so far away it isn't worth mentioning, or is wondering why on earth they arnt telling anyone an eta of the release? Can you not even give a month? If not, that is seriously worrying. It does make me wonder if anyone actually knows what if going on, what the time frame is or how many more tasks need to be complete. And as the quoted post mentions... This is an alpha!!! Deliver an alpha! Not a single person on these forums will be expecting the finished product when you release ts. No one!! Would anyone care if there were bugs in it? Not really, but the longer you drag it out, the more player would care. -
I would get a psyc evaluation from a doctor before going ahead with this upgrade... no one in their right mind would put more money into this game, especially where cars are concerned. There is a very high chance cars may never be released if the game does not pick up.

It is 9 to 5 RPG. Basically a more developed identity but with worse graphics. I say worse but I think it's stylised that way. Looks decent though and will probably release before identity.

It's already happened. A game called something along the line of 24/7 (can't remember the exact name) looks brilliant. Exact same concept, a bit more cartoony looking but from what I can see they are further along development than asylum and this other company has only been going for 3 months. Seems a bit too good to be true, so taken with a pinch of salt but they have picked up on asylums weakness and use it in their promo videos -

Btw sorry for the multiple responses, trying to edit on a phone is going crazy! its a shame that a team who by the looks of things are very able, very talented and have a great game concept are in my opinion cannot schedule and now if you are correct are afraid to schedule for the fear of failing. What does that say about the game's future? Remember, despite me being here having a winge about my thoughts that they should be honest about the games actual progression towards release, I am here for the same reason as you - I love the idea of the game, I have pledged towards the game and want it to succeed. In my opinion, if they were to be very open about an ETA no matter when it was it would put me and I think many others at ease and give us all a bit of confidence. -

When November rolls around and you have had 2-3 more "we're almost there" messages you may start to see the bigger picture. You say they tell us what they are working on yet no one seems able to give an ETA... In my book that's odd... It's either so far away they are scared to announce it for fear of uproar or they literally don't have a clue, I'm unsure which is worse... please let me know if there is another reason? Also underestimated... A few weeks is an underestimation... We are 4 months past their original release... That is a catastrophic under estimation! -

You don't think I have a point? You have been getting excited to get into this game in October last year mate judging from your posts? Are you telling me you wouldn't like to have an honest update? -
Yeah... that is probably his house... a small company wouldn't always have a proper office. If i were you I would take that link down to be honest... I was expecting from your description that it was literally just uninhabited fields...

This is amazing, please link us up!!!

This is currently my favourite comment I have read on this forum... Bravo!

I guess that could be taken as me stating a fact, it is my opinion. I tell you what, wait until they release the TS module, then u can call my bullshit. I would genuinely be happy to be called out upon it because we all win in that instance. I just can't see anything else happening.
-
We could play chess... but unfortunately the game hasn't catered for the taking of an opponents pieces and it dosnt know the rules... We could move the pieces around randomly and make out to everyone watching that it works perfectly though?
-
I am pissed off, mostly with myself for fooling for all of this! One can dream though! What is this false information of which you speak?
-
Fair point, well I guess its just as well - we certainly wont be getting what we had hoped! I'll have a karaoke sing off with you to decide this discussion because that will be the only way we can battle when they release Town Square next summer
-
Having worked in game development for a number of years and still in Software Dev and QA... I believe I have a fairly good understanding of this process
-
It does not have a hope to be honest. I do believe they will release Town Square, no doubt. Why havnt they released it yet? Because once they do, everyone will see what 3 years of dev has done and get a serious reality check. I havnt refunded - mostly because I really cant be bothered, but also because $30 is well worth going into the TS module and watching everyone rant in game about how there is nothing to do. The actual reality check will be pure entertainment!

Whilst this is true, it does not change the fact you are pledging FOR something... whether its a pre-order or not, you have pledged real money with promise of something at the end - so essentially both are the same thing. Shagwrath not only has a peng name, he also makes a good point and those who are still living in the dreamworld have far too much trust in these devsā¦ Other companies have now recognised that this is a great idea for a game and are already further through with development after a few months of work. I admire the effort Asylum have put in, but in terms of product, it is non existant. The best we can say at this stage is thanks for sharing your idea - someone else with more ability will make it happen if you cant - and right now, that is what's happening

Tracker makes no sense? Why is it Taking so long?
wiebley replied to TOPGUNGUY123's topic in The Town Square
Agree completely - I am glad someone else has understood how they are treating this bloody tracker... it is purely used as a tool to keep the community quiet and give themselves an infinite deadline that they can complete when they like, or let it run indefinitely. Essentially just a way to avoid giving a deadline... I mean come on... wasnt this module supposed to be released April 24th or something? The fact that they let it get to 2 days prior to the release date before announcing that it was delayed.... I'd forgive them if it was a week extension or something... but here we are 4 months later... thats a third of a year! They must have full well know it wasnt going to deliver weeks if not months before that deadline, yet they said nothing... absolute bunch of jokers... Just be honest with people and it might not be so bad - hiding behind a tracker and not committing to anything it just making them look incompetent and verging on a bunch of scam artists. and if I see another f**king cupboard... -
It looks a hell of a lot more organised than Identity I have to say - They are already more transparent with development. Definitely one to keep an eye on! I find is kinda hard to believe they have done all this in 2 months though to be honest... I hope its true - They have obviously seen Identity, recognised that it is a great idea, saw that they were making a complete mess of implementation and have somehow pulled level with them in terms of development in 2 months... Only something good can come from this - Identity gets a boost because its being overtaken by a smaller dev in a fraction of the timeframe, or this new game takes the lead and we all get the game we have been hoping for! their trailer audio at 2:40 definitely rings a bell for some reason...
-
The latest update just confirmed I was right - And the good thing is, they have found a positive solution - Releasing bi-weekly updates will keep the community engaged rather than waiting the year or so for the second module. I think they have done the right thing which is great! I want the game to be a success, I just couldnt see how it was going to happen with such a large timeframe between modules which would have lost the community momentum - hopefully this will solve that problem (this is as long as I have not misunderstood the dev post)
-
So we get some more fairytales about all the fantastic content they are going to put into future module we will most likely never see... They can't get through module 1 without causing a train wreck and pissing the community off - All these new ideas about what is going to be included in the final game is all just fantasy. Unfortunately, this game will sink itself when module 1 is released as 90% of backers out there will be disappointed with what is released. I am guessing they are still getting a few more subscriptions here and there with every day that the module isnt out... They know the moment the module 1 is released, their funding will stop because youtube will be full of people playing module 1, then running out of content to show as no one wants to watch a chess game on repeat - therefore no more investors. By the time the next module is out (say another year to be generous to the speed of development) this game will be long forgotten.

so all furnishings and customisation inside the apartments is free? Is that only until the full game is released right? Otherwise, what's the point in earning money? Surely a large draw to earning money is to deck out your pad etc? I guess there are clothes and cars, but I would have thought earning your way to a pimp house would be one of the draws for many?
-
what about on your apartment? I havnt even got an apartment so this really dosnt bother me, but whats the point in people buying these apartments when you cant do anything with them? Let's face it, this game won't get past module 1 due to funding so buying these apartments is entirely pointless?
-
That is correct. My problem is that they should not have put a tracker up at all - it is inaccurate and does not portray what is actually going on. Had they not put it up to try and appease the community, there would not be so much negativity surrounding this game. They have put it up to give themselves an infinite deadline - it wont be released until all the tasks are complete... So they are there sitting there, no pressure to deliver because the tracker isn't complete... what a nice gig!
