Im talking about any of the TS videos of gameplay that are out on youtube, I wasnt referring to the crime video at all. Yeah that had a lot of placeholders and I get that. But the actual videos of people playing TS etc, it just looks like a poor engine, clunky animations etc. And do not worry, I shall not be investing a single cent more into this game. I got the cheapest possible option to play this epic beta when its out. I almost went for an upgraded package, and thank god I didnt! Anyone who invested in a car is going to be very disappointed, I don't think they will ever make it to the game before it crumbles. I wonder if they will get a refund tho? I would assume so as content promised to them wont have been delivered?

Agreed... I have seen Students final year projects with similar functionality and that was 8 years ago. We have all these people saying 'you have to take your hats off to what this small dev team has done' and let's be honest... So far, they have created a virtual chat room about 500 square meters wide, with chess, karaoke and apartment customization... This isn't really groundbreaking stuff lads... this wouldn't have been groundbreaking stuff 10 years ago... Watch the videos of this game on youtube and tell me honestly that it looks good and on par with other 2018 games? I'm sorry but it does not...

maybe getting slightly ahead of yourselves here... Let's see if they managed to code the chess game properly first huh? There are all these hypothetical idea's coming out which are for the most part bloody awesome... but you have to remember who is coding this game and the resources available to them. If all this stuff was do-able by a tiny company... why hasn't a larger company like rockstar already included it all in GTA? It's not like they won't have thought of it? I used to work at a company that makes a very popular MMORPG. Just to add a single new feature to the game, it took months and months of coding among 6-8 developers, the same amount of time for the 6 VFX artists, then about 2-3 months in Quality Assurance with a team of 6. For one small aspect of the game... All these idea's are just that... really good ideas... but I think if you want to see these ideas come to life... you are in the wrong place.

I am guessing we have about 2 hours until this thread is locked or deleted like many of the other threads that are being created. Just to state... I am asking a question, this is not me giving false information, I am querying something I don't understand. From reading about the steam verification process, I am under the impression that a lot of it is to do with having the store page reviewed to ensure it represents the game it is 'selling' accurately, not use cinematic images etc. We have been told that we will know a release date when the store page goes up... But they have completed and submitted their page... so surely inside that page is the release date? If so... they have already made up their mind about the release date.... so why not just tell us? Why make us all wait even longer for the steam verification process to happen? It's these little things that literally look like Asylum is just fucking with us?
-
Cool, that makes sense.
-
I guess you are right... To be honest, I am just pleased that they did anything at all... I genuinely thought it was just going to be another fake deadline.
-
Fair point. So you are assuming that they haven't actually submitted the game and they are lying? If that'e the case, then they will be outed in 2 weeks then the game still isnt there
-
Does it matter? If it was visible you still wouldn't be able to play it? They have given the files to valve.... it wont be playable until valve have approved it. What could you do with the steam page if it was visible?
-
let's be fair... they said they would publish to steam, and they have. Give credit where it is due, previously they have messed everyone around, but this time they delivered on what they said. for those who are asking 'where is the game', you have clearly not been following whats going on. The game is now with Valve... They need to do checks on it before they release it onto steam. This should be no longer than 2 weeks.

I think you just have the general reputation in the community as being Asylum's No1 fanboy. Well, I guess the only person in this community that still has an ounce of faith in this dated game. Essentially, there isnt any derogatory comment thrown towards asylum that you dont throw yourself infront of and defend with your life. Don't get me wrong, you make a lot of valid points and correct a lot of mis-information which is justified, but it must be getting more and more difficult for you to stick up for them. Surely if this is not published to steam today, you will have to somewhat back down and let people vent without throwing in some loose defense for them?

This release is the biggest joke in gaming history i think... Back in April/May people were taking the piss saying that it wont actually be released until the end of July... as an exaggerated dig at the process... We are approaching the end of October and it still isnt released. I'm literally only still here because it's hilarious and I cant wait to see the result when it is finally released in March next year. NO RULES CHESS AND BODGED KARAOKE FTW!!!! BTW, anyone who would like to come and see my apartment in March (which will probably be identical to yours apart from the floor and wallpaper is more than welcome to! Forgive me if I don't come to see yours... you can just tell me what colours you have)

I this this game is a scam/joke, I really do. I don’t think it started out this way and I don’t think it was ever their intention. Town square will be released at some point without a doubt. but It’s going to be awful, nothing to do and maybe 10 minutes worth of game play. I’ve only been pledging for about 1.5 years and I feel i’ve Waited too long. Those who have pledged for even longer will b very disappointed. The game will lose the tiny bit of momentum it has left and the money will run out for the project. Why am I still pledging? To watch all the fanboys run around an empty time square trying to convince themselves that everything it awesome and amazing... priceless! 😉

its all so dead... real shame as it had such promise! Time to face the truth people, this game is a no-go... genuinely disappointed.
-
it might be delayed....
-
it's been 'soon' for 6 months... Imagine the wait for a 'we're developing it now'! Unfortunately I think they are developing module 2 now unless I am mistaken so in all honesty, 2020?
-
This is amazing... in June I was saying August release date admittedly as a bit of a troll for how long this is taking... we are almost into October. Hilarious...
-
I think its approaching truth time Asylum, April 20th 2018 - No release but only a 'Quite Minor' and 'short lived' delay. - Fair enough, more bugs can be found when fixing/diagnosing initial bugs etc. But with the amount of fixes that was needed before TS module was released, there is no way this could have ever been viewed as a 'short lived' process... A flipping tracker was made to keep track of the list! Not to mention breaking this to the eagerly awaiting community just 4 days shy of the release. You must have know over a month before that this was not going to make that deadline. June 6th 2018 - No release, but we are 'approaching release of the town square' - Most people have realised the initial bugs diagnosed on April 20th were bigger than the devs initially thought, but hey! It's almost here! Thats great! July 10th 2018 - No release, but gameplay is 'nearing release'! - Really? Havn't we heard that one before? August 30th 2018 - No release, but 'We're moving forward quite quickly right now'. - Of course... The main point I am coming to here is that we have been bullshitted for long enough. It's time to shit or get off the pot. Asylum, please be realistic with your community, everyone is completely fed up of hearing 'its almost here!' to the point that these words are entirely meaningless! Every time that phrase or similar is dropped, it is becoming less and less believable. If its going to take another 3 months, just tell us! Be honest! It won't be as bad as you think! If you are confident it is nearing release... think of your date, add 2 weeks to it, 3 to be safer, then announce it! If it arrives early, great!

Can we please have some honesty and transparency?

Oh my bad... Sorry about that mate that sucks... I guess I would imagine because that money had already been spent in wages etc. At least you can be proud to know that you paid for one of the 56 different tables, or one of the 43 pairs of pants -

a few of my mates have requested the refund. you have to escalate it in paypal to actually get it, if you dont, you wont get anything. They both got their refunds in the end, and still got sent the Steam key and have their pledges it appears you can get your money back and still have access to the game - I guess we shall see next year when they release the module. -
I think it's time to say "Thank you" to the Team!
wiebley replied to JohnAllington's topic in The Town Square
Don;t get triggered son I thought there might have been something I had missed that everyone was buzzing for. Turns out, there isn't. Is the fact that we are pledging not a thank you in itself? If I were to commission a painting... I wouldn't thank the artist for telling me that it's almost finished for 6 months with no evidence, or for showing me loads of different paints that could be on my painting, or if my artist was selling a load of other shit before they had finished the original painting. However, upon delivering the painting... even if it wasn't up to scratch, or wasn't as perfect as I had hoped for... Then I would still thank them for the effort. Right now all we have is 'It's almost finished' for the 32nd time in the past 6 months, and some steam keys which mean jack shit. Richard Dawkins once wrote a book called 'The God Delusion'. It was all about how science has proved that god does not exist. It's getting to the stage where he may write another one called 'The Identity Delusion'. It would feature extracts from all the fanboys on this forum against all the people living in the real world. It will be a thrilling read!- 28 replies

With regards to how Module 1 is the most focused and intense module... Whilst I agree that it is probably the hardest/most important one to get right, I don't think that it means that the other modules will be quicker to come to us... Think about the amount of job options that have been promised... the functionality to be able to do any of these jobs to an in-depth extent will require a hell of a lot of planning, coding and animations... Then you have to think about the economy, that will not be an easy thing to implement. I previously worked in QA for a games company, and I know that releasing an economy based piece of functionality takes a LOT of testing and planning. There were around 3-4 coders on that alone for 2-3 months and around 4-5 QA testers on it for around the same time, with the overlap, perhaps 4 months. Asylum have no where near that amount of resources, so that will take longer... and that is JUST for the economy part of things.
-
Im hoping this isnt just another 'it's almost ready guys!' message... Although from experience, it most likely will be... Also... so what if we get a key to something you cant actually download? They could have given these keys out months ago and still be in the same position now. It does not mean a huge amount

Hit the nail on there head there - if there was something the devs need or want to say, it shouldn't require one to trawl through the boring ass streams to get a single nugget of information.
