I want to get into the beta (Buy a pass) But im put off.
Jinx replied to CurtisLee19941's topic in The Town Square
Problem is James, you're not helping. Posting your F.A.Q every time someone ends a sentence with a question mark......not helpful. Leaping to Asylums defence each and every time someone dares to be critical, telling people to leave and go away....not helpful. Like the OP, many people who have already invested have got genuine concerns about the lack of information coming from Asylum concerning this game. Point of fact: The graph for the Town Hall module has been at 66% for months.....DESPITE the fact that, as we now know, they decided to re-build it from the ground up. Not one word was posted about that set-back, no information was forthcoming, not one word. That, my friend, is very poor communication. Another point, you need to stop ramming this ''they have two jobs'' excuse down our throats. We understand they have a small team, we understand they are an Indie company, but so small that nobody can bother with a monthly update? That excuse has, by now, worn too thin I'm afraid. I want, desperately, to support this production, I really do. But during all these weeks of uproar on these forums they've not even had the good grace to offer up much of anything at all, and this has turned out to be a very one sided love affair. Personally I started with the $30 option, as did my wife, but we have friends who invested well over $100 in Identity. We had plans, as a group, to open a server here & I was the one designated to keep watch on progress, but nobody even asks about it anymore, they've all pretty much written off their investments. Point is, if they have, then so have other people, and if that's so, then the ONE reason for that is Asylums dreadful public relations. People want to hear from ASYLUM James, not you, not moderators, the Devs. They want updates, the amount of posts on the subject proves that. A monthly update is not too much to ask, no matter how small the team is. -
I kind of understand what he means. If you look at the forums there are some pretty wild suggestions, & a lot of them are simply not going to be possible. Given that we know so little about the actual game, that's not really surprising however, peoples imaginations will run riot.

First of all, let's try to imagine the pressure. I'm sure by now that some of the 'big fish' have been sniffing around looking to get a piece of this pie, so they've got that to deal with. Identity is a great idea, established companies will be throwing out lures I'm sure, so the temptation to give in and join one of them must be massive. Then there is funding, which lets face it, is not huge, to get this game off the ground more cash is going to have to come from somewhere, and soon, which leads us back to point one. But obviously if they go with an already established developer.....then many of their ideas, their vision, may never be realised. Small budget, small team. As we are well aware, they're each taking on multiple jobs at once. Yes they have made mistakes, in all honesty they probably launched kick starter too soon, their communication leaves much to be desired. But then again, if there is nothing to tell........ The ONLY solution now is patience, from EVERYONE. Identity will either see the light of day or it won't, and yes, it really IS that simple.
-
Actually, you decided to bring up the comparison, not I. It's pretty simple I think but seeing as you don't really seem to understand I'll make it plain. No Mans Sky is the ultimate example of what happens when an indie company has to bow to pressure to get a game out..........the gamer's (that's us in case you don't realise) end up with an unfinished product, that simply is not the game that was advertised, and the company end up with a title that bombs. Nobody wants that for Identity (well apart from you obviously).
-
In theory, it's an idea to add another criminal activity & a certain degree of realism. In reality it's a griefers wet dream.
-
That's not the answer. This is the answer: The truth is that rushing to get Identity out there will not work, this is a small indie company, not Rockstar Games, and they will only get this one chance. The once great bastion of PC gaming, the MMO, is failing rapidly, having devolved into a series of below par games that are largely geared to grabbing as much money as possible with a minimum of effort......the dread Free to Play genre. Identity could change that, or at least help to stop the rot. The team at Asylum HAVE to get it right first time, there will be no second chances for these guys. Of course they will make mistakes along the way, they're new at this, and yes there are problems with communication, but give them time, that's what they need the most.
-
Not a great comparison really, not when you consider that 88% of NMS player base quit in the first week & it's launch and reception have been a total disaster.
-
It's funny isn't it, the amount of ignorance on the internet. Just two minutes looking came up with this........ Dragon Age Origins (2004-09) 5 years to develop Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind (1996-2002) 6 years to develop L.A. Noire (2004-2011) 7 years to develop ............and the list is huge, over 30 games that took five years or more to get out, most of them from huge developers with decades of experience in making games. And yet here you are, like the other self proclaimed experts, telling us 'facts' that in reality, you just made up in your head because you do not have the first clue what you are talking about. As for the rest, you guys REALLY need to stop replying to these posts, open your eyes, see the three themes that run through them all (no video, Motown is a scammer, and the awful english) and work the rest out for yourselves.
-
It depends. If you want to support the project and their vision, then get the founder, if you're just looking to play at release then just get the citizen.

Some questions regarding owning a clothing shop.
Jinx replied to TanzaniteSilver4's topic in The Town Square
I'm fairly certain that they've alluded to making your own clothes & even adding your own brand name to them, but there are no details about how you would do this. -
It's not damage control. Nothing you post has a basis in fact or truth, in fact you yourself have posted outright lies and slander. And while we're on the subject, there IS no freedom of speech here because this is not a public forum. You are here on sufferance and if the Asylum Devs want to ban you. or edit and delete your posts then they are well within their rights to do that.
-
There it is, right there. so lets call a spade a spade shall we Nick? So you did some research and found that two of the Asylum team are scammers, so how about you share the proof of this with the rest of us? I'm going to bet you don't have a thing besides your own opinion and internet rumors. As for locking your posts be thankful I'm not a mod here, I'd have just banned you, because that's just an outright lie. So lets see the proof Nik. Once you resort to these kind of tactics your 'opinion' is no longer valid. Even though some of us are critical about the lack of updates/information we still support this project, which you, quite clearly, do not. Which leads to the question, why are you even here? I think the above quote from you pretty much says it all.
-
Just like you 'clearly' have never been involved in developing anything. If you had, then you would know, that the engine used is always changed by the Devs......it's just a foundation they use for their own work. What is also quite clear, is that one or two of you are just trolls, with NO interest in what happens here beyond annoying people on a forum. I'm not sure where you sprang from, maybe you're disgruntled players from their Altis Life servers...I don't know, but obviously you're exaggerating things out of all proportion.
-
Annnnnnnnnd on the other hand, we get posts like this which, to be frank, are just utter nonsense. So lets see if we can, for once, be clear about something. Most of us are concerned about the lack of news updates. Not the late video, not the progress of the Town Hall, but updates. It may well take hours to make a video, it may well take weeks to make a model, but it takes ten minutes to post on a forum so please stop telling me that they're too busy to do that once a week.
-
Well, first of all, just because people want answers to questions, does not mean they have no respect. A lot of the people asking those questions are actually investors in Identity, which gives them the right I would think. Second, your statement raises the immediate question, if you get to see images from Motown, then why are they not shown to everyone? Every single time someone on these forums raises the question of why is there no information forthcoming then either you, or one of the other self appointed 'Admins' leaps in telling folks to stop asking..........well maybe if someone from the actual Dev team would give an answer then they would stop asking. No matter how much you and you ilk seem to think you speak for the Dev team, you don't, and you thumbing your nose at the rest of the community by telling them you get special privileges really does not help.....at all. Some of you seem to think that the rest of us have never been involved in anything like this before (the OP here being a perfect example) well I'm sorry but this certainly ain't my first rodeo Herzog. If they were nowhere near ready then they most certainly should not have begun a Kick Starter, & people are right to question it because the amount of updates is very poor.
-
This is a great example of a kick starter game https://warofrights.com/default.aspx If you take a look at War of Rights & the amount of information the Devs there put out, it makes you wonder.
-
I hate to say this, but I'm starting to agree with the doubters. They gave eta's for the module's as 2016 and even though we are already halfway through the year, it's not really that which worries me, it's the lack of information. Identity is slated for a 2017 release, so we should be a long way past the '' large amount of boring ground work required in a game of this scale''. Some of our crew have as much as $300 invested in this, and I'm the one from our group who is designated to watch for information, and they're all worried because I never have anything to tell them. They still have five months to make good on the modules, but yes, the lack of information coming from them is more than worrying.
-
Hey Folks I've been around here a while so thought it about time I introduced myself. I'm from the U.K. and I've been around online for quite a long time. I've been involved in a number of communities/games all the way from Ultima Online through to Star Wars the Old Republic. As far as Identity goes a number of us have been looking for an alternative to Second Life (where we are an M.C.) and we think that this could well be it. We will be running our own server, which will be rp orientated, so hopefully I'll get to see some of you in-world
-
Thanks Andrew, and everyone else, for the gracious welcome Once we've had a look at the first module & decided if we'll be migrating or not I'll let you all know some details/plans for the server.

If dead bodies disappear, how will you investigate murders?
Jinx replied to SkinnierSteve's topic in The Precinct
Or......as an alternative, you could allow the victim BE the crime scene. Officers could ask the victim a given number of questions such as time of death etc based on information that they would normally SEE, and as long as the victim (and officers) does not metagame then that would work.- 26 replies

Hi Herzog Just a quick word of advice. I've been in an online MC for years, and what you've posted is for real life, but in our experience does not work for online. Online, your Road Captain will be planning the route so you'll want him leading simply because he will know the way. Also, because of lag, crashing, dis-connecting etc you'll want a full patched member at the very back, so that he can call for a halt & you won't leave anyone behind (We call this guy the Tail Gunner)

dating, engagetment, and marriage...
Jinx replied to jshaw71's question in Tourism (Q&A)
If it's not there to enhance game play, I can't see the point,.What stats would it give us? how would it make our chars' any better? The use of drugs in Identity is a good example of that, they've not just included them for the sake of it, drugs will effect game play, and our chars' via buffs/de-buffs....there is a point to it. Including marriage makes sense for role play, whether or not our chars' will actually benefit from it remains to be seen. Relationship arcs in char' development has not, until recently, played a substantial role in gaming. Identity claims to be changing what it means to be an mmo, and this is one area it could do that for sure. -

LOL, you're funny. But like a number of posters on here you do get a little angsty when someone disagrees with you, fair enough lets go. Because the Devs said it, does NOT make it a fact, that's the Devs opinion, as I stated, The Witcher DOES have sexual content and is NOT banned on either Twitter or YouTube.......fact. Go look up The Witcher on YouTube & Twitter.....go look it up on Steam. There are a number of games with sexual content that appear on both YouTube & Twitter....so what I meant by disagreeing with you, was that I know, for a fact, that neither of those places ban games that have sexually explicit content...........clear enough now? Secondly, just because it's a child avatar, obviously does not mean it's a child at the keyboard. And let me explain something further, this game WILL have drugs & it WILL have crime, both of which COULD (please note the use of the word could here) get the game an adult rating by themselves. I was talking about child AVATARS, not actual children playing the game, which apparently everyone but you understood. I was stating my opinion that while I do not believe that Destiny needs sexual content, I believe that it could benefit from relationship arcs in it's game play. Family life IS a part of a real world is it not, and so, by default, are children (please note I mean child avatars here). Here we go James, just to show you......
