  1. Furry Walls - House customization

god damn hippies! jk love you <3
  2. Forum Filter

If possible, implement a filter that prevents newer less involved members from submitting links in either their thread title or overall thread in general. I'm getting tired of all the spam, it's degrading the credibility of Identity which I am personally afraid will deter potential and current backers.
  3. I feel like this suggestion, if implemented, will not only tremendously add to character development but promote diversity characterized by the individuals that play and how we portray ourselves as individuals in the provided environment, which is something the dev team has emphasized as being one of their utmost prominent goals. In short, it would be a shame if this feature is not met by the first module release. @cole97 Although you're considering withdrawing from your initial donation, it is probably fair to mention we are talking about a very small dev team with a rather restricted budget. Games like GTA, Battlefield, and other significant brands cost tens of millions if not more than a hundred million to make! It's insane this tiny team of highly skilled devs have been able to accomplish so much in such a little amount of time and on their arguably rather feeble budget! However don't let me get in your way, if you're comfortable waiting for the initial module release to support the game then it's definitely understandable.
  4. Police vs Rebels

It's not necessarily about how well being a villainous scumbag pays off, neither is it necessarily the sheer amount of cops or other vigilante organizations roaming about. What's often forgotten in the realm of role-play is the fact you're actually supposed to play a ROLE. Often I've found people play to well, play the game. People tend to limit their realm of possible pursuits to a life solely devoted to riches and fame and often the most profitable solution is illegal so they pursue a life of crime. Later if they're caught up in some trouble or have their skull splattered all over the street well.. it's either some time they complain about because it's simply a "game" or they simply just "died" and respawned and have to rebuy their shit. Now they're bored, they still have all their money, they've died 10 times already and been to jail a handful (and I am being modest), they have cars and maybe a house, and now they're bored and don't know what to do.. so they bait the cops, rob the bank randomly, and in the end they're right back where they started! Bored, loaded, and zero fulfillment. I also don't think everyone should be CAPABLE of pursuing a life of crime straight off the bat, as in your should have to work towards the ability (or skill) to know how to brew/grow/process an illegal substance. The locations of all of these illegal spots shouldn't be splattered all over the map either IMO. Here's how I see it, there is rarely any real character development and there's especially nothing emphasizing the value and importance that is your character's life. In most RP circumstances on an ArmA Life server, you do a few hours jail MAYBE for a major crime (if it's a more "serious" server) and death is merely a minor inconvenience at most. There is no real price to pay, no real loss. If you throw your life away in a life of crime (if you don't play it smart of course and get caught) or end up dead in some ditch somewhere, well there should probably be something for you to look forward to avoiding.. and that's REAL consequence. That is how you create real immersion, that is how you give people those real feelings and value of their character's life.. because they put time into developing their specific person into who they wanted them to be, and maybe they've grown attached to their little guy quite a bit and don't want them to go to waste. Sure, I'd probably still be involved in minor crime myself because that's just the way I am.. but I won't be running up on someone right next to the police station stripping them of their wallet! I won't be honking at the cops baiting them to come chase me because I'm "bored"! I would be focusing on my character's life, and that in my opinion would be.. AWESOME! Because it's real, thrilling, has depth, and overall truly builds on what RP is all about; I mean.. right? Here's another problem.. People don't know what to do. Maybe you're lost, looking for some divine purpose or some shit. Well newsflash! Life is a rollercoaster of ups, downs, swirls and vomit in your socks! Fortunately for you, this is a lighter version of that where you can pursue careers you could've never possible imagined! Run a Radio Station; News Service; Firefighter; Sheriff; DEA; FBI; State Trooper; Lawyer; Judge; EMT; Nurse; Doctor; Create Films or Art; Run or Work at a Convenience Store; Start your own Business; Run a Car Dealership; Be a Advertiser for other people's Businesses; Brew your own Moonshine and complain about the Locals; Sit around all day demanding more entitlement while smoking it up; Join or Start a Mob; Join or Start a Gang; Live in a Trailer Park and start a series called The Trailer Park Boys; THE LIST GOES ON! Point is.. There's endless possibility out there for character development and all you need is a name and a face to get started. This isn't a game of cops and robbers where it's about being the "best" or getting all the kills.. In fact, if there was real consequence and your friend died.. they'd really be gone.. imagine that pain of your friend getting shot and killed.. I mean sure, maybe you can play it out like their "cousin" came to town after the incident and decided to stay and you two just so happen to hit it up, but that other guy.. his character as you knew him is dead. Or here's another scenario.. maybe you got a life sentence.. you could play it out, live a life behind bars.. maybe someone will break you out.. and you might be like "that's fucking lame!" sure, but first of all JAIL SUCKS! It's life, so get used to it! If you become a criminal be smart, then again most people actually value their lives and don't fucking go around shooting and robbing random pedestrians and cops. In this case however, perhaps you'll have the option to "reset" your character. You will lose all stats, your name, your character's assets and traits/flaws and face.. you would be a new person. - Under most circumstances however, you should be forced to go at what life throws at you because THAT'S WHAT LIFE IS and THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ROLEPLAYING. Point is.. I want to play a hardcore roleplay server with hardcore consequences.. and if a serious community does things right.. they can have a pretty sweet setup. I've heard about GTA life communities with these types of consequences.. and tell you what despite how scary it sounds to those who don't give a shit about RP.. people love it! It makes the experience SOOO much more real, immersive, and overall it makes your time invested feel more valuable and devoted towards something real.. because behind these pixels are real people making a real impact, a real effort to create something real.. and that's RP. Ehh.. I'm rambling, I apologize. As if anyone will read this anyway
  5. How do you perceive it? What do you expect? Personally, I'm looking forward to something like this: Farming drugs will take time, whether inside your home or somewhere in the forest you can work towards a product to sell. Then you'll have to process your product, maybe it's a station back at home, a friends, or a discrete but public place. Using drugs should provide useful benefits I.E. increased stamina, lighter recoil, decreased weapon sway; increased exp gain, etc. Overall benefits = demand, demand = market, market = profit .. from there things can then take a direction of your choosing. Perhaps you should be able to "brand" your product, it should show in the items "description" in a color of your choosing; Mr. Happy; Hobbit's Produce; Etc. Enforce your territory, keep out of sight of cops, establish a brand/name for yourself, rule the streets! But idk what it'll actually be like. Thoughts?
  6. June 1st...

the only reason I still check back is because I have no life .. and arma 3 life communities are pure aids .. maybe we should just start our own private community, after all I am an experienced map dev and that combined with a few decent scripters could spell something half decent they've niether been active on Twitter and usually they are, which I find.. concerning. I also noticed in the last month and a half they've raised more than $300,000.. I just hope they didn't take the money and run, after all almost everything has been vague snippets here and there. http://imgur.com/a/zV0oS
  7. What will you RP in identity?

Save the trees MAAAANNNNN!!! We gotta go out and stop all these hunters from killing innocent animals MAAAAAANNNNN!!!!! A CAUSE WORTH FIGHTING FOR!!..... .. MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
  8. In the Meantime

Just curious. What's everyone doing while they wait for Identity to release? Personally, I've been working on my fitness. Jogging, squatting, push-ups, etc; So far I'd say it's going well. Occasionally I try to play on Life Studios or Project Life. I just find it hard to get in the right mood, especially when I don't know anyone around and I'm too much of an introverted loser to overcome my general anxiety and socialize with anyone. Maybe we can form like a gang? Not like an actual gang, but a group of hardcore role-players who might maybe get together on a ArmA 3 role-play server and show them how it's done? I mean, that's what I'd like to do and what better place than to reach out to an enthusiastic role-play community anxious to be a part of some serious shit. I mean, that's just me. What about you? Also is anyone interested in forming this "gang" per say?
  9. Food and Drink

I know two other guy's basically said the same thing, so I thought "Why Not Zoidberg?" and decided to join in on the attention. Yes! You can eat food you dummy! #derp
  10. Call Of Duty WW2

Honestly, rather than just anyone being able to call in a random supply drop in just any random place, perhaps it should be a team drop (as in it drops on the teams active side or maybe in the center of the map when the team "earns" a drop (whatever way that may be); Which of course the drop supports the whole team, in some way. Whether it be vests, a turret, an attack helicopter or whatever. Maybe the losing team will get these support packages, after all that is why someone receives support.. because they need it.
  11. Identity MENU SCREEN | Concept

Neat little concept you've made there, I like it. Personally, I think a "Play" which toggles a drop-box with option's including but not limited to "Browse; Recent; Favorites; Friends" in that order would be interesting. Of course, that's just my idea to make it a bit more compact while also providing you with a fair selection to choose from. I also hope there's a kind of sandbox to screw around with vehicles, guns, home designs and more with or without friends.
  12. Basically, the suggestion is there's a written DMV driver's test before being permitted to move on to your driver's course, of which the course itself is either automated or handled through DMV associates. I could probably settle as a DMV driver course instructor for those who have sat down and passed the test. Overall, it would both be educational and improve role-play. As referenced here.
  13. NEED TO KNOW!!! NOW

I kind of found the OP's argument a bit silly. So let's say you did rob a bank, sure. Now what are the odd's you're going to get away? Well, imaginably quite low without at least careful and professional planning. Now let's say you do get away like in your analogy, why would your getaway vehicle consist of an old slow crap-mobile as described? Sounds like you basically want to jump in and straight up get a crap ton of people together to pull off one of the most unorganized heists of all time only lucky to get away and only because there were so many of you. Being able to shoot from your vehicle or not, there are good points both ways. If you can shoot from your vehicle you can have all the advantage both with additional cover, mobility, and the element of surprise seeing as you can light someone up with little to no warning. If you can't shoot from a vehicle people can light you up and disable your vehicle with little to no ability to retaliate, especially in the case your vehicle is disabled in the process. Ultimately, your best course of action would either be to flee and hope for the best or position your vehicle just right so you can jump out to cover; Ultimately, this makes people seriously consider their options before shit hits the fan. Now the only way I can see this function working fairly is if it was purely suppressive fire, as in there is little to no accuracy when firing from a vehicle BUT of course still with a chance to hit your target giving them all the reason to get out of the way. Anyway, I imagine the function will be capable of being toggled on or off for private server's who have a seriously enforced role-play community. You have to remember, the official server's aren't meant for serious role-play. In the end, your planning is horrible. Basically it entirely consists of shooting your way out of every situation and hoping for all the advantage, when that's not how things work. Oh well, all the power to you I guess. In the end, just know who you are.
  14. To all future First Responders

I kind of hope there's a written DMV driver's test before being permitted to move on to your driver's course, either automated or handled through DMV associates. I could probably settle as a DMV driver course instructor for those who have sat down and passed the test. It would both be educational and improve role-play.
  15. Modding ! :D

With the amount of people speculated to be playing on the official Identity server's, in order to promote and sustain a diversity and lively-hood to the overall population of Identity, it's likely there will be a fairly wide variety of vehicle's - or at least an in-depth customization system via mod shop's. I might be wrong, but I think I saw somewhere early in the day's of Identity a developer say they were hoping to provide a variety of 100 - 200 different vehicles - that alongside the proposed in-depth customization and driving mechanics probably won't be very easy. In this case however, I imagine modding server's to include extra content might not be necessary. Regardless, developer's have stated modding Identity would be fairly difficult, but supposedly could be done. Personally, as said before, I would prefer all content be officially provided by the Identity team themselves; Who better to implement new content than the one's behind the very game itself?
  16. Can I be a serial killer?

I'm pretty sure he was joking around, regardless there won't be any "children" in Identity. Being a serial killer is a bit of a touchy subject because your very soul purpose for killing innocent Citizen's would be as simple as it just being what you do; In that case, anyone can kill anyone randomly for little to no reason and claim to just be a "serial killer". Generally speaking, it'll easily be met with a lot of controversy. This might however be an interesting "community event" under special circumstances, people could be notified of the serial killer and his motives providing a state wide bounty hunt for the alleged killers capture. It would indeed provide interesting role-play for detectives to play out, I'd personally like to see that happening under special circumstances. This however likely won't be an "event" on any of the official Identity server's. In my opinion, it's poor character development and likely will not be permitted on just any community. Maybe however you'll find a community that's okay with this, to a degree. Maybe. In that case however, don't expect good overall role-play.
  17. Drive-Bys

I can see why they don't do a drug animation, they don't want to "teach" anyone how to make a drug and be held liable if someone's stupid enough to try and do it IRL.. Imagine the report "man busted for cooking Meth, says he learned how to make it from a video game (Identity)" - Regarding drive-by's, personally I think this should be a feature server's can toggle on/off whereas stricter more enforced server's can have this function permitted under specific situations I.E. reasonable drive-by, car chase, etc. Then again, personally I don't really mind having this feature disabled. I feel like a lot of people might try and abuse this feature, shooting up other people while they're within the safety of their own vehicle only to have the ability to flee at a moments notice. Sure, this IS possible IRL.. BUT a considerable amount of people than usual may likely try to pursue a "career" in crime. Then again like TURAXIS said you're kind of in an unfair advantage if someone's shooting your vehicle up so MAYBE you should be able to shoot from your vehicle.. just with low accuracy. I just hope people care more about their character development than "winning" every fight where as to bend the rules to an unreasonable definition just to do so, it's not about winning, you know.. but enjoying the experience alongside building an honest character for you and countless other's to enjoy whether you're a Politician, EMT, Law Enforcement, Criminal, a Talk Show Host or whatever; Oh and by "honest", I mean within the fair grasp of what makes sense for your character to pursue and the actions they take alongside their endeavors while being within the very definition of that communities guidelines. If everyone tried just a little harder, there won't be need for some unnecessary rules.. I mean.. isn't that why we're all here? Hell, if it's within reasonable definition.. you can be the next Tuco from Breaking Bad if you tried. Some people think when someone says their "RP" isn't realistic or fair, they think it's targeted at them only because they're doing crime. No, if you're in crime so long you make it reasonably fair and realistic in terms of what you would expect out of someone in your shoes in real life, then there shouldn't be any problem! That's not to say someone won't try to complain if they "lose", just know who YOU are and build a great character everyone can enjoy one way, or another. Oh, also don't start up a small drug cartel and act like you straight up "own" the streets all of a sudden.. sure, you can try.. but it'd only make you look stupid. I've seen countless people try and fail this way, straight up acting like the best the second they started with random people they just met off the street the other day. Just thought I'd point some things out.. I'm not trying to lecture everyone on "proper role-play" but just thought I'd point a few things out that I've come across through personal experience.
  18. What is YOUR Goal in Identity?

Wow, you've made quite the plan for yourself. You've got it all laid out, front n' center. Personally, I'm not one to plan out my whole life. I like to live day by day, week by week; It's about the journey, ya know? I'm no thief, or at least that's what I tell myself just so I can sleep at night. I might think I'm justified because of the circumstances that lead up to whatever predicament I caught myself up in, but deep down I know who I am; At least, I think I do. Generally speaking, I'm just another one of your friendly neighborhood conspirator's. I've always had what I like to call an open mind, though not everyone's always open to my cup of tea. I'm a deep thinker, often you might find me lost in thought contemplating something entirely irrelevant to the current situation at hand; So to speak, I turn to narcotics to try and numb the pain.. It.. helps me focus. I'm going to try and hold a job some place hopefully, my goal's to get an RV; I've always liked the idea of living on the go, and what better way to do that than with an RV? It'll allow me to pursue my hobby, to more efficiently seek out the truths of what's lurking on the island. I only hope people are ready for what I have to show them, whatever that may be. Of course, I will always confront my proclamations with some form of proof so to speak.
  19. Hi everyone!

Hey there, Fractal. I don't normally welcome newcomers, but I was "in the neighborhood" and thought I'd greet ya', welcome to Identity!
  20. Dying in Identity

I agree with everything you said above, thought I'd cut a chunk of it out to save space as I really just wanted to continue the conversation with you without making my response too much. I am highly on board with a skill/trait system. The idea of having to apply yourself to a particular routine I.E. exercise, shooting range, swimming, lock-picking, driving, and etc to determine your characters attribute's is quite interesting and would give player's personal goal's to chase after giving the island a breath of life - as in people will have something to work towards rather than sitting around waiting for something interesting to happen. heh I also hope you can take classes to acquire extra skill's, like CPR.
  21. Create new drugs

I can only imagine drug's like "Ebola" and "Aids" and so many more would come into play by people as a joke, in that case people would begin to take its associated role-play less seriously. I've made some observations and I can contest once people begin to take something less seriously it will begin to degrade everyone's overall expectations of what's expected in role-play until the official Identity server's are being treated like any Altis Life server; Hence conformity. We want to sustain a high standard of role-play as everyone's expectation when they join Identity for the first time, which will most likely be the case. However, people will begin to push boundaries until eventually they cross a line, the only question is how will the enforcing staff handle these situations. You can not be too lenient otherwise people will undermine the risk's of poor role-play, eventually other's will conform to their standards in role-play until it finally becomes the "norm". Of which, anyone who tries to raise the overall standard's of role-play are criticized often with the argument that "this is just a game", but that's not what this "game" was made for. This game was made to be a life simulator, not another game of Grand Theft Auto. If someone doesn't get that, they should find a server with fewer standard's, however most people openly state it's not "fun" when you're on a role-play server with low standard's; At least 5 separate people have specified that to me. It's the dilemma I've been trying to overcome for a while now, often it deters me from wanting to even get on because everyone has their unique perspective of how role-play should be. It's especially off-putting when someone argues your role-play is "too serious" when I don't find it fun any other way than to treat my character as if I were in their shoes at that moment. *sigh* I guess that's what I'm mostly concerned about, I suppose we'll have to wait and see. There will of course be white-listed "hardcore" role-play communities, in that case I may join one of them depending on how the official server's work out.
  22. Dying in Identity

Personally, I'd like the "timer" to be your "blood loss" so only when you "bleed out" can you respawn; This will allow a friend to attempt to slow or even stop the bleeding, giving you more time before you die. I'd like there to be an experience system though, whereas the more experience you have the better you can slow/stop the bleeding. It's experience systems like this that truly define your character, allowing you to work your character towards certain specialties (or skills) truly creating a diversity of individuality on the island.
  23. Robbery

If proper repercussions are put into place for such cases (I.E. death), then hopefully it will be enough to deter most individuals from expressing little to no value in their life; Basically, when you die the game needs to target something valuable that makes the risk all that much more a risk of your very livelihood than it is a simple gamble for your possessions. Here's how I see it: An individual spends several hours acquiring something of value or just happens to have a considerable amount of cash on them, their first thought is "I'm going to lose it anyway, might as well try to get away" completely forgetting to value something that above all else should be considered exponentially imperative to their well being, thus following their first instinct: flee. - Now if they think they're going to die either way, this would be understandable. The reason "real world scenarios" are brought into play here is because Identity is essentially a role-play simulator based in our real world society. In the end though it's hard to ask whether you can do so n' such this early in Identity because so many other privately hosted communities will come into play after Identity releases, each server with their own separate rules and regulations; Basically, asking these questions now is completely futile and a waste of time, but I understand your anxiousness to debate. Everyone has different views when it comes to their vision of what they expect from Identity: Is it a game, a simulator, or both? Do you prefer a GTA-like experience, a more in depth casual experience, or a hardcore no exceptions type experience? Will you be a business man, a hippie/freeloader/bum, criminal, low-life druggy, conspiracy junky, local officer of the law, medical professional, fire fighter, politician, conman, the leader of a secret society, problematic family man, local drunky, etc.. etc.... etc; The list goes on. The real question is, what will your story be?
