According to @Paratus, there will be clubhouses for gangs to work out of.

I owned and ran a Serious DarkRP Garry's Mod server back in the day. It was hard to keep the roleplay serious considering most of the Garry's Mod playerbase is aged 8-14, but when we did have good RP it was great. I closed the server a while back and ever since have been looking for something to take it's place. Identity is basically everything I wanted my server to be and more, which is why I'm looking forward to it so much.

How will gangs work?

Awesome, that'd be great. -
Adding kids would be a huge mistake. It would just be another way for trolls to try and ruin the roleplay.

What will you guys look forward to most in Identity?
Vince replied to BigMike's topic in Ideas & Suggestions
Starting as a small time gangster and eventually running the largest crime family in the city. Using my ill-gotten gains to delve into real estate and heaps of other legitimate businesses. Having politicians and policemen in my pocket and having them doing my bidding for me. Executing those who fuck with me. Carrying out epic mafia hits like you see in the movies (and in real life). Ahh, the list goes on. -
That reminds me of my days as a surgeon.. Good times.

Remember that Identity is meant to simulate real life, albeit more simple. People don't go around with grappling hooks. This is something I see becoming an issue, people wanting this game to be like GTA. The first thing to remember is that this is not GTA. It's all about realism. You act out the life of a realistic character with a backstory, emotions, and ambitions. You don't go around shooting people or jumping on top of buildings.

Isn't even worth arguing with this guy tbh, it looks like he's a GTA kid who wants Identity to be a GTA clone...

That'd be a good way to hone your skills for sure. I'm sure the devs have something in mind.

Swearing is part of a mobster's job description. Idk about you guys but I'm gonna be swearing a lot in-game.

From what I've heard, I assume that most guns will be hard to come by, but there will be a fair few handguns in circulation. Among police there will likely be more powerful weaponry, but as a general rule things like an AR-15 will be hard to get your hands on, and rightly so!

My character history is described in detail on my mafia page, but I'll put it here as well. Aside from what is mentioned there, my character is a great thinker and strategist, but when he is backed into a corner he is prone to losing his shit and getting very mad and potentially violent.

Sounds great, a proper RP story with a character and all. Nice!

Well I assume the reason they are leaving out sniper rifles is because they are virtually impossible to get to the average citizen, even in the US, and having one would be overkill. I'm so glad that larger weapons will be a rarity, that's how it should be. Every criminal and his grandmother will have a handgun, but if an assault rifle or something comes into your possession, you will be a force to be reckoned with. I don't think it will crash and burn, they have assured us that they have countermeasures to make sure people can't RDM or anything.

It would be awesome, but terrorism would probably just be a tool for griefers rather than proper roleplayers.

Theoretically a person in real life could carry 5 or 6 large guns, but they would be noticed in a second. Also I don't think larger weaponry will be too common, so it'll be a very very rare sight to see anybody walking around with a handgun, let alone a rifle or shotgun. Maybe you could have 3 handguns at once at a maximum and 1 larger weapon (machine pistol, shotgun, rifle, etc). That said, if you have any more than 2 handguns, the fact that you are carrying becomes more noticeable and liable to be arrested. For example if you have 1 handgun only, it's very hard to be spotted without a pat-down, but if you have 3 handguns it is a lot more likely that you will be found out, and if you are carrying a large weapon like an assault rifle it's basically impossible not to have it seen. To achieve this, each weapon could have a hidden visibility rating, and when you are close to or over 100 visibility and you are seen, the person can easily notice the weapon. For example most pistols could have around 25 visibility (depending on the exact pistol), whereas the smaller rifles have closer to 85 visibility and the larger ones around 125. That way with some larger weapons you literally cannot conceal them, however with others that are slightly smaller, you have a chance of doing so.
