There will be a LOT of open space on Identity's island too. Believe me. There's only 3 big cities, and a bunch more smaller towns. I can imagine paintball grounds and such will be somewhere in the outdoors too. But I expect a lot of backroads. And yes, as far as their estimates go, the island should be around 225 km² in size. Altis in Arma 3 is somewhere between 270 and 280 km². When you take into account the playable water and underwater environments on Altis, there are actually almost 1,000 square kilometers to navigate on the map. So perhaps it's time to start asking the devs if they have included the explore-able waters in their calculations or not.

Interview with the developers
Genesai replied to TheNerdyChef's question in Tourism (Q&A)
Could you ask them when they finally plan on releasing pledge previews? I know they said they would, but they never gave an idea as to when. Screenshots would suffice for starters, I'm sure. Later we'll see more with the modules and all. But adding screenshots on the pledge website, or at the very least concept art would help convince more people to pledge. Or pledge a higher tier. Even for the people who pledged now, like us, our rewards are kinda mysterious now. What's the difference between the one-bedroom apartment and the luxury one-bedroom apartment for example? Do we get a screenshot? A sneak preview of a floor-plan maybe? I've pledged $250 for the sports car (well, I pledged mainly to support this awesome game), so I kinda do wish to see what I'll be getting for that kind of money. And I'm very curious of the lower tiers as well, what did I skip? Show me that dirt bike, and that used motorcycle. Show me that studio, and those apartments. Either way: - It could help convince more people to pledge (higher). - It would show us some love for our continuous support and patience. I don't think I'm asking something impossible, like a release date. -

S.W.A.T. vehicles will be automated. That I can tell you with certainty. The "AI" will drive the truck with your team to the scene automatically. You'll never be able to get the truck/van out manually. This has been confirmed. But I suppose it's all in balancing the game. I do understand that. -
In all fairness I think the question that was asked if he could play his music for a portable speaker so others could hear it. If that's the question indeed, then I have no idea how limited you'd be with for example a boombox. You'll be able to stream music on it, but I'm unsure if others in your surroundings can hear that. That's a gameplay choice that even I'd have to think about if I were a developer. Is it worth the possible annoyance? If you have a YouTube channel you like which streams, or a favorite Twitch channel that streams, those you'll be able to indeed stream in-game on in-game radio/tv etc. Or if you own either of those yourself, that's one way to get your own music in there for example. But no copyright infringements of course! Only legit sources that are cleared by YouTube itself. Twitch won't have that problem either way. I'm sure if you have music on YouTube that you've made (for example), and you are able to set your channel to a stream mode, you'd be able to get into other players televisions. Just an idea.

So basically how the game is set up by default? That's easy. You won't have to change a thing and can make people believe you did a lot of work. Ingenious.

They have 4 servers. Altis Life Asylum #1 to 4. http://www.gaming-asylum.com/servers/

What I've seen you spread around the board, I wouldn't call it politics so far. But I agree the language bashing should stop. Other attacks on your integrity as a politician is just part of the job you've chosen to take. If you cannot deal with those levels of pressure, imagine what it would be like if you actually got into office?
-
I'm not saying you're in the wrong. You can't help that. But it does kinda burn your chances of being elected. And that's a harsh just reality. Private servers will only be available with the full release of Identity. And even then someone will have the rent one and designate it as a German spoken server.

S.W.A.T. won't even be allowed to drive their truck around manually. It will be automatically driven to the scene of action. Source: livestream

This is hard to write down without making it coming across worse than I mean it. But I'll give it a go. This is in no way intended as an insult. First of all: I'll never rant about people making grammatical mistakes. Worst case scenario: I correct them and that's that. So this is no way an insult at @MauriceClinton's grammar and spelling. I understand if a language isn't your main one, things aren't as easy for you. Then again, I speak Dutch and French as main languages. Secondly: I cannot take any politician serious who cannot write, read and speak proper English (or the language he represents). It comes across childlike, unprofessional and undedicated. I've had the same with my previous boss. Whenever he mailed an internal communique, it was riddled with mistakes. It made me look down at him, while he made three times my paycheck. It's silly maybe, but I felt that someone who cannot grasp his OWN basic language even, unfit to handle my paycheck. I felt like it had to be the other way around. Thirdly: I'm not trying to push @MauriceClinton away from English language public servers. But perhaps there will be a private German server you'd feel more at home. It's just a suggestion. Lastly: It's cool you're interested in politics. If I were you however, and this is a strong suggestion, I'd open a book about politics first. The things you are saying are more than unethical in my and the general public's eyes. And everyone you speaks to you of any criticism gets called a liar. Very mature. You are indeed by far the worst candidate out there right now.

I'm sure they appreciate the offer. The cop cruiser and SUV should be about ready now though. There won't be K9 units, as pets cannot leave the interior of housing yet. Wildlife is the exception though. But maybe in the future. I'm hoping as well.

There are no set dates. Not officially anyway. There are only community estimates. Guessing when the beta will start, even before we have had any of the three modules released is just a crazy man's job. It's an impossible task. Edit: No there will be gameplay from module 1, Town Square. Read around a bit, read the FAQs all over the forums please. I have two of them linked in my signature, and there's more per sub forum.
-
Nothing has been released yet. The first module (Town Square) should come out pretty soon. The other two modules will follow in quicker succession though. Then it'll go into a full closed beta period before release.

What guns would you want in the game
Genesai replied to NyanRadscorpion's topic in Ideas & Suggestions
It's been said on various occasions on live stream during their gaming hours, and on the forums as well. Try this: http://www.identityrpg.com/community/search/?&q="no sniper"&sortby=relevancy It's common knowledge by now that there will be no sniper rifles. It's been called on multiple times. As well as that max scope will be a 2x on the hunting rifle. We'll have to see post release if anything will change. Edit: also THIS is your ultimate proof: -
The items you receive are items for the finished servers. The Town Square module is just a preview module. The level of studio or apartment you've pledged for will be available during the Town Square module, so you can try to customize that one. If you've pledged for a studio, one bedroom apartment, or a luxery one bedroom apartment, you'll get try that one out! If your pledge holds a vehicle as a bonus, you'll have to wait to try your car/motor. There won't be vehicles in the Town Square module. As for refunds, as far as I see they refund before the module gets released. I'm uncertain of what happens after that point. If I were them I'd close the refunds after the first module, or at least before the beta starts. But it's up to them. @LuckyDuck should be able to provide more info on this. There are other camera modes. The game defaults to third person even! But first person is accessible as well, as you've seen. You will be able to trade yes! And there's banking, so there's that. Getting murdered is not possible in safe zones (your own place, malls, or anything with metal detectors at the doors. And even outside, RDM'ing is harder because of an implemented stress system. The less stress your character has, the less damage it will take. It will work more complicated as this I'm sure. We'll see in time. The age I'm unsure of, but seeing kids are not in game, it's safe to say 18 or 21 as a minimum. Anything adult, just unsure which law they'll follow for this. I believe you can make an elder character, just unsure what the maximum age will be. You CAN eat and drink, but not doing so won't kill you. It will give you negative effects such as decreased stamina, to sum one up. There will be no monthly pay. Buy once, play forever. And the only planned micro-transactions are apartments, cars, clothing. Nothing to unbalance gameplay. And nothing you really need to play the game fair. About the being billed part. Yes you get billed for services like that. Police for example get passive pay, but most of their income still comes from arrests and other jobs they do. Safe to say EMT's will get the same treatment, or any government provided service. I don't know about a healthcare plan. I hope this suffices a bit. Also read the FAQ's. There's plenty (per subfora even!)

Tents appear to be fixed at camping sites. When I first heard this, I was kinda saddened by it. So as an alternative I hope we'll be able to set up camping chairs/tables next to our RV. We can drive that one to where we want, so I hope outside of city limits, we'll be able to set up items on free ground.
-
I suppose questioning people, perhaps there's a way to check ballistics and match guns with bullets, etc. We'll see how and what they'll implement for this system. Also I've never seen a police detective go undercover. One reason for that would be the safety of their families. Usually there are trained covert ops, for such situations. And a regular street officer does just the following: patrol, ticket, arrest and other smaller BUT necessary tasks. They don't check murder cases, or find out who robbed the bank.

Will there be any careers that involve music making or anything like that?
Genesai replied to Breezy121's topic in Other Careers
But making it into a career... good luck with that though. You'd have to be very skilled on the in-game instruments. Then again, we don't know if external input will be available. If MIDI input works for example, I could play an entire show on piano alone, for example. But as I see it now, musicians in Identity (whether it be in a bar, concert hall, etc.) will be kind of like street musicians in real life. Sure it's fun if someone drops you a few pennies, but it won't pay your rent. Unless they are very organised and bring something unique. And even then this would be one of the few exceptions to the rule. So I see it as a paid hobby in game, but not so much as a full fledged career. If I'm mistaken, and if people do pay you enough so you can get around in Identity, I'll be happy for you. But as I imagine it's going it to be, with the info we have, I doubt you'll have much luck making it into a career. Just my two cents. -
Let's hope not. There's memes enough outside of Identity. Memes would stop the immersion for me big time. A few easter eggs, sure.

Servers options
Genesai replied to TraxxasBoy520's question in Tourism (Q&A)
You won't be able to add money to accounts no. The whole point of Identity is to have a career. Making you instant rich defeats the purpose of the game, even on private servers. Anything game breaking won't be customizable. No one of us has exact details on this of course. But that's the general consensus at the moment. -
Question: Will the people who have enlisted as police officer be able to take their cruiser home when they get off work? What I'm asking is, will we be able to park our cop car in our garage? Or leave it in our driveway in case we're living in a house? Or does it stay at the station at the end of our shifts?

I feel for you. I made it my sole career in Arma 3 mods to be a paramedic. Sadly I couldn't do civilian jobs as a paramedic, and I refused to switch over due to implemented timers. Yuk. Just to state I ONLY played as a paramedic to date. So I feel your pain. Besides getting shouted at for not reaching a place 10 KM away in the time they wanted me there, there are a lot of other issues. One of them is getting shot at too many times by criminals lurking around. Who the hell shoots a paramedic? Or when it doesn't come to that, but I do get a warning not to heal, splint, or revive. What kind of RP world is that? Or when I do get allowed to treat them, or revive, they simply kill him/her again. Oh joy. Sure I get paid for the revive, but in RP sympathy I've had to RP a hysterical medic trying to enforce the Hippocratic Oath more times than I wish. And the sad part of killing a medic there? It's utterly senseless. I lose nothing. I simply respawn. But it's annoying. I do sincerely hope people will have a lot more respect for this roleplayer group. Same towards the Fire Department and any form of law enforcement. Personally, in Identity I will play a police officer. It's time for a chance. But I'm sure in time, after a good and healthy career as a cop, I will switch over to EMT / Fire Department for sure. I do hope the Fire Department will be called on with vehicular accidents and such as well. Not just EMTs yanking people out of mangled vehicles. Not very realistic.
