It's a choice the developers made for those reasons and perhaps other reasons they haven't mentioned. So this is how it's going to be. Having a training is not the issue here. The things you propose @mjrekich could work, for sure, but it still doesn't change the fact the island is just too small for it. I've noticed the users are about 50/50 on this, if you'd check previous (older) polls. I do like helicopters and airplanes myself. I really do. But I'd prefer not to see them in Identity. They wouldn't feel right here. And if I really wanted to fly, I'd pick and play any other game with the ability to do so.

Esoterica- Recruiting, Professional, Assassins! (Also Accepting Ally Request's!)

Go ahead, you know you'll be flagged for arrest automatically when you do that, right? Good luck taking on the entire force. I have a feeling certain things will be like in real life. Shoot a cop? Having the entire precinct coming after you. And that's the first time you kill a cop ... let's see what happens if you guys make a sport out of it.- 13 replies

Sad to see you go. As others have said, real life should always come first. Let's hope then they release before the end of the month, but as we both know, that's a long shot. But I do hope so myself. Hope you'll be back in time for the full game then!

You can edit the quote all you want, the point remains. There is NO FBI, you will still not be recognized as a task force, and you WILL get arrested for interfering with police business. I wonder how much clearer I can make this? Being FBI might be one of your wet dreams for all I know, the fact remains: you won't be indulging in FBI matters in Identity. It's better for you to accept this now.
-
There is no president, and the FBI is not the chief of police. You are probably the 10th person with the grand delusion you will be able to be FBI. NO YOU WON'T! You will not get recognized as a real force. You will get warrants on YOUR name and you WILL get arrested.

Just add the option "I voted NO" on the second question/poll.
-
Needless poll. People will be able to own all kinds of shops, with a few exceptions. So voting for something that's already there, is pointless. I do strongly recommend you start by reading the various FAQs around there forums first. Before starting random polls as you have been doing so far.
-
I cannot vote on this because the second question ONLY works if you voted YES. I want to vote NO and keep it at that, which is impossible without voting on question number 2. So my answer is NO, without voting. I agree on the developers point of view on this. Adding anything that can fly (besides perhaps a recreational hang glider) will reduce immersion when traveling the island. You wouldn't run into encounters you'd otherwise have when driving or walking from point A to B. The island would feel rather small. Helicopters is what ruined Life mods. There's a 99% chance this won't happen. And I'm more than happy with that.

Vigilantes will get arrested over and over again. Even more, I'll take them as a priority over most crimes.

There is an entire NEW website in production. Kinda pointless updating the current one when the new one is arriving very soon. It will have (some) updated pledge rewards too.

@Xander It would have been great if you actually read http://www.identityrpg.com/community/topic/5815-faq-police-department/. SWAT won't be a full time job. It will be police officers who have unlocked the ability (perk) to get called into the station to switch into SWAT tactical gear when the need arises. Just as the number of LEOs in general will be limited to how much is required (based on the number of online players), the same will be applied to the number of needed SWAT members on a scene. On a side note: SWAT members won't be able to drive the SWAT armored truck. There will be an automated system in place. It will drive the members to the scene. The system is in place to prevent people having a distinct advantage over other people.

Will there be any military?
Genesai replied to AdmiralFire's question in Tourism (Q&A)
There's no military, so it's safe to say there won't be uniforms. Perhaps maybe user designed in due time, but it won't hold any legal grounds if you wear them. I have also no knowledge of a base or even an abandoned base. -
Welcome! LuckyDuck said all there is to say.

Has anyone got a recording of the Identity live-stream?
Genesai replied to FLAiR_X's topic in The Town Square
No they do get removed over time I've seen. We did ask them to either put them on YouTube or at the very least turn the audio in some sort of podcast afterwards. The didn't dislike the idea at all, so we'll see in the near future what they'll do. -
Makeshift weapons?
Genesai replied to YaLocalOreo's question in Tourism (Q&A)
It would be nice if some minor things were included like a knife made from a rock and things alike. As long as you wouldn't have the option to make a rocket launcher from some PVC / PE tubing, an air-compressor, and a circuit-board. That would just turn things silly. -
True, but you could still use the name. E.g. Ford Sportswear, or Nike's Food Distro. It would still have company names in there... But yeah, car companies are a no go, all the rest is allowed. Until they get that cease and desist order as I mentioned in the beginning. Which is the legal term for it.

Welcome! The developers play games on Twitch an hour a day from Tuesday till Thursday. Mostly PUBG and Rocket League. During that gaming hour they do reply to most questions asked in the chat. All but released dates for the modules and such, of course. You can get a lot of first hand information that way. That's how most of us get screenshots, concept art, and "inside" information posted on the forums. To quote them: "Gaming Hour will now be on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday @ 4:00 PM EST to 5:00 PM EST. Monday's and Friday's Gaming Hours will be spent hard at work on Identity, as we get closer to Town Square release!" https://www.twitch.tv/identityrpg Also, there will be a new video soon. It will show gunplay mechanics and a few more things. It should be due before the next dev blog (Dev Blog #009); but I wouldn't hold it against them if it gets delayed as everything here does.

Beside the two main FAQs, there are also even FAQs on the sub-fora. The Precinct has it's own police FAQ per example. And there's plenty more.
-
So basically what I said. I just used the official terms.

Surely Identity is ambitious, but it does NOT have too many managers and it DOES talk to the community. The real issue here is that the community (in general) is never happy with the information they get. They always want more. Also, comparing APB and APB:R with Identity is so so soooo wrong. Both the game, and the development process are way different. Yes you do compare them when you say "LET IDENTITY LEARN FROM APB?". It's like saying "let Stalin learn from Caesar's mistakes", or "let Hitler learn from Napoleon's mistakes". Sure, both were high placed military officials, but besides that the comparison makes no sense at all.

If this is the way to speak to people without provocation... seek help or keep it to yourself. Until you learn how to speak as an adult.

I'm not sure if this has been answered anywhere but I have a question
Genesai replied to Kenny's question in Tourism (Q&A)
The software they'll be using has the potential of a 1000 players even and more. They did say: "The more we'd be willing to pay, the more players we could have. This software is incredible." (along those lines) Also it's some sort of cluster network designed for MMO type gaming. So basically the number of players could be too high it's not even playable anymore, in my perception anyway. Imagine all houses being sold or rented out. Only apartment (studios) left over on a server. But indeed they'll be trying 300 and see where things go. The number of players on a server impacts a lot of things besides the usual (potential) lag. The economy, immersion, tax rates, etc. All are affected by this. It will take some experimentation for sure. -
Loose modules. Not a crazy Japanese toilet setup. (edit: yes the toilet paper is rolled the right way AND please add the option to freely change the direction at other people's apartments when visiting, just for the lulz)
