Maybe I will just stick to the official for a while.. private would be if enough people from the guild want to play really.

@kriller509had the right idea about owning or renting an apartment/house on the server. Another idea may be a public register where you must enter your details and then are allowed to vote after a week of play time. The biggest downside to this though would be that we would need to be able to see that the registered party is actually playing and didn't just join the server to get their friend into the role.

I get the feeling this will be similar to the "drug dealers" in the game. In a Q&A that I watched recently, it was stated that players making drugs can sell them to an NPC "drug dealer" to make money. I think the same thing would happen when it comes to fishing/hunting/wood etc.. Don't take that as confirmation as I may be wrong but it would make sense for it to be like this in game.

One thing we need to keep in mind with this sort of thing is the capability of the internet access the player has. As an example, I recently moved from an area that only had slow ADSL (8mb down with 1.5mb up) which means that when myself and my housemate were both playing an online game with a lot of data (we will both be playing this game as well), we would encounter major problems with game rendering. I can see the T.V's in game being a possible problem for people in those sort of situations since it is playing a stream from youtube/twitch (can't remember exactly what one they said) as well as transmitting data for what is happening around you in real time.

From what I've seen so far, the island state in Identity is led by a governor so that would be the role you are getting when elected for the term (several real days iirc). I'm not sure what you are referring to with the comment about USA. Can you please clarify for me. It's still early here in Australia so I'm probably missing something (wouldn't be the first time lol).

I can see a lot of potential with this in terms of making money in the game. We already know that we can decide what to stock in a store if we own one as well as the price of that item. If we had the ability to create our own merchandise (like custom clothes, paintings etc..), we could have a truly independent store that contains items that aren't available anywhere else!

I actually think you may have brought up a very important point here. I assume you mean freedom of speech as in talking about real life issues/politics etc..? If so, I think there should be a limit to what you can say politically/racially in game as it can cause quite a big rift in the player base and make the game fail if people are abused because of their real life political view, race, religion etc.. Personally, I think this should be kept to in game politics only while any racial or religious slurs/negativity should be banned. It's a game after all and the main point is to put all the negativity of the real world away while we all have fun. The reason I say in game politics should be allowed is because of the fact that there is the political "career" you can have in game and when campaigning, opponents will usually try and make the other candidates look bad I the eyes of the public while making themselves look like the best option for the job. Us gamers need to stick together and create a universe of tolerance and understanding to show the real world how it's done Does anyone else have thoughts on this? It would be interesting to hear them (whether they are for OR against doesn't matter).

I would definitely start on the official server(s) and use them until such time as it becomes a bore and then maybe look at private servers for variety in the setup. I wonder if it's possible to have both official and private going at the same time...

I don't believe it matters if you have an accent or if you don't speak English fluently. You should never be embarrassed by these things. Not everyone is from an English speaking country. The main thing is to play the game and have fun while you do!

I can see a lot of us wandering around aimlessly at first while we explore everything the first module has to offer. No doubt we will find bugs and areas that can be improved but that's why we are here isn't it? All I know is that I'm excited to get in and see what activities are possible within the game
