Identity Module character creation transfer idea
Paratus replied to TeejayPlayYa's topic in Ideas & Suggestions
This is something we've considered although it could run into some difficulties going forward as we'll likely have many more customization options between the time of Town Square and Identity's release. But we would really like to have some elements from the Town Square carry over.- 3 replies

Identity is an online game and can only be played online. The social interaction is a huge part of what makes it great.
-
Yep, exactly this. You'll be able to repair your own tires or call for a tow truck if you don't have a spare.
-
The former.

Furniture won't be lost. It's stored in a sort of special storage system to make placing it in homes more convenient. You'll get a glimpse of this pretty soon, I think.
-
Anti cheat systems are one of our absolute highest priorities. It doesn't matter how good a game is if cheaters ruin it for you.
-
Homes can be either owned or rented. The tax Motown speaks of is for ownership and is minimal (controlled to an extent by the governor). If you own a home you can put it on the rental market and someone will pay a rental fee which you set and to which they agree. You can be a real estate mogal or rent to start until you build wealth enough to buy a home outright. We expect that homes will be inexpensive to start but as demand grows rental prices will naturally increase.

Yep, this is possible. What I meant by them being technically the same is that we add them to the character automatically based on the clothing (or lack there of) being worn. Most games simply make them a part of the base character model and then add clothes over them, but we didn't want that since there may be times where more revealing clothes, which cover the private areas on their own, don't want that underwear sticking out. For example, imagine wearing a bathing suit with your underwear coming out underneath it. The system we're using provides us all sorts of flexibility and we can layer clothing.

Yes, we will! High fidelity control is the cornerstone of our vehicle design.

Correct. Official servers won't be too dark that you can't see only because it can impede gameplay. Nobody wants to sit still waiting for light when they have limited playtime. It will be dark, but not blindingly so. That said, this is something we can give server owners the ability to control.
-
Right now we have one set of underwear for each gender but they function technically like normal clothes. This means it would be very easy for us to add new varieties.
-
You can always demand their clothing at gun-point!
-
You will have access to radar speed guns!

This is one of the primary reasons we decided to go the route we did with Identity's servers. Each server is immensely configurable. The gameplay on an official server may be far different from that on a community server. Community servers can control just about everything, including disabling entire features of the game. It's our intention and hope that "hardcore" role-playing server communities pop up. I'd love to see community servers with more popularity than our official ones, should the right people get behind its control.

The new shop on this website which will come in the new future will work on a per-item basis. You won't have all the same options available to purchase as now but you will be able to get a passport and beta access. The good news is that we'll accept many more forms of payment at that time, including commonly used systems in local areas.
-
On official servers, yes, otherwise griefing would be out of control. This may not be the case for community servers though. That said we still need courts. They know a crime happened but not the reason out story behind it. Some of the most hilarious moments I've had in Altis Life were on a jury listening to crazy stories.

Flag is a term for a toggle. It's not meant in a literal sense. This means only that the police now have the ability to charge or arrest you for that crime. Also note that private servers can disable this to give full freedom to the police.

Most jobs don't have a structure attached to them, but careers do. That said, player-run corporations can set "ranks" within that corporation and can give each any title they like.

Looks like I need to do more testing in Safari!

Some minor things in the environment will be destructible, although most of these things won't be network objects. This means when you crash into it and break it only the people present will see the damage and those who come later might not.

While you can't own one of the banks in the world itself (which may be prone to being robbed), there's nothing stopping people from forming a corporation and advertising loans. In fact I imagine you could get incredibly wealthy doing just that if you had enough capital to invest and get started. Given that people are unpredictable, I'd say the hardest part would not be degenerating into a loan-shark and threatening people.

That progress bar is for the module itself. That said, while we're working on getting the Town Square released work is also being done for features outside of it on the full game. Development is going surprisingly well given our budget.

We have five people working full-time directly for Asylum, although quite a few more (which I can't give an accurate number on) in studios. We outsource development studios to handle some tasks to keep costs down. In fact, the majority of the art work you saw in the trailer was outsourced to an external studio who we're still working with now.

The art system, including a functional gallery, will exist even as early as the town square.

The introduction of cars will come with the third module, racing.
