    With the release of our highly anticipated Town Square module, comes “The Beginner’s Guide to the Town Square.” Apartment Basics: In order to purchase furniture, speak to the NPC at the desk of the hotel lobby. To successfully enter your apartment, from the elevator menu simply ensure that your character’s name is inputted into the search bar and select “Search.” This will take you to the correct floor of your apartment and load the instance. Once exiting the elevator, the text at the bottom of your screen will assist you in locating the door to your designated apartment. Ex: “Your apartment can be found at number 405.” Keybinds for customization: -Middle Mouse: Initiates editor menu -Left Click: Selects the highlighted area for editing -Right Click: Exits editor menu Placing apartment furniture: -i: Opens player inventory (can be rebinded) -Left click on the item you want to place in your apartment -Select “Place in World” on the bottom left of the screen -Scroll the mouse wheel to rotate the object being placed -Left click: Places the object at the desired location -Del: Removes furniture after it’s picked up Picking up and moving furniture: -Middle mouse: Enter customization menu -Highlight object by looking at it -Left click: Picks object up and allows player to move it Basic Controls: -T (hold): Push to Talk -Enter: Text Chat (instanced based) -Shift: Sprint -C: Crouch -Space: Jump -Tilda/Console key: Emotes -V: First/ Third Person view

    There seems to be two loud audiences in the community: The fanbois who think Identity can do no wrong, and the ragers who melt down at every real or perceived issue. But there is a third group, and I think it's a lot of us, who both acknowledge some issues, feel some disappointment, yet keep things in perspective and remain hopeful. I think I fall into that category. I'm not a game dev expert, but I do work on a software product team and I'm a liaison to the marketing and PR team so I've seen some things. Here's my 2 cents on what I'd do starting right now if I were Asylum: 1. PR move: Apologize. You're Canadians, so you're good at it. You need to acknowledge you misled people as to the playability of the module 1 release and give acknowledgement to the hard feelings in the community right now. 2. Business strategy: Freeze Steam. It is nothing but an open sore of expectation mismatch resulting in negative reviews. 3. Project management: Identify what are the top 3 issues and when they'll be patched (this will be for the benefit of the community later). Create a waterfall roadmap of the next 3-5 weeks internally. 4. Technical move: Form an Alpha or Closed Beta test (CBT) group. Offer the community some full-release swag for participating in what you will clearly frame as a buggy process (this is expectation management). 5. PR/PM move: Announce the top 3 issues and when they'll be fixed. Update daily. (Also expectation management) I've been in Alphas and Betas for other games and the entire tone of the community would be different if expectations were framed up properly. People expect a lot of bugs and limited server windows in Alpha and they feel special being a part of it. Similarly people expect some bugs in a Beta and feel special being a part of it. What happened is something presented as a limited functionality full game was released in an Alpha state, and charged for at that, and everyone is (somewhat understandably) losing their minds. Some companies have even split bets into closed betas (limited audience, limited server windows), and open betas. It all comes back to expectation management and who is really framing the narrative here. Asylum has an opportunity to take the high ground and control the narrative in a positive way. Your move.

    yeah, first fraction of tiny module doesn't even started working yet and big part of core team that started it is already gone, rats running away from sinking ship, probably barely anyone is working on it now (they said about 20 artist work on in so im assuming they are already gone) they enjoyed sweet wages for doing fuck all 4 years and now gonna blame this failure on us, already seen peoples on reddit and steam forum reporting it as a "broken product" unbelievable some peoples here still talking about it hyped for patches...

    This game will be taken down from steam within month, Motown (one of founders) already run away, lucky duck (one of first mods on this forum if not first) left, first community manager (dont remember his name) left too, they will be gone until new year.

    Howdy. Apartment 410 here. I change wallpaper and flooring and when I leave and return it's reset to the original flooring and walls. Plus there doesn't seem to be a consistent way to bring up the menus to modify these things. I end up pressing Mouse 3 to select and then left or right click or double click. Menu seems to come up at random. You'll get there! Just keep tweaking. I think this is the process we should have been allowed to do months ago so on Release date most of this would have been debugged but...... we're where we're at and moving forward. Work hard. Lots of coffee and maybe set up a formal way to turn in defects. Guess the forum is okay but there should be a special section somewhere to just report defects. I see in game that it says to contact Asylum for bugs or issues but don't know where that means to go. Website? Twitch? Facebook? Forums? UPDATE 12/3/18 - apartment stayed modified from last night! So, bought some furniture from the bartender. Successfully placed the couch. The chair I thought I bought was missing from inventory. The coffee machine would not place on counter. I could select it and rotate it but when I clicked to place nothing happened. Then I was kicked from server I guess with a message saying it timed out. You should really update your message saying that it's Saturday and the servers are offline. Make it more generic.

    Hey! We all know Town Square is in a very early state, so here are some things I think are needed to complete it before the SWAT module comes out! Server status in menu, I have no clue why I'm not entering Town Square when the loading screen returns me to the menu (overall just very handy tool) Movement optimization Show ping European server Working interior editor (I couldn't see the UI or place anything) More things to do for players (Barber, Tattoos), people basically don't have anything to do but walk around! FPS and graphics optimization Expansion of Town Square Better UI for the settings Better inventory interface! I don't want to scroll across a thousand items! Order things, make tabs and make it logical! No lag spike when putting something in your shopping cart Yes I know, it's not great for four years of development, but I'd really like to see a better Identity in the future!

    This isn't a hate post, but with the recent disaster with identity what is going through the minds of the people still defending this game? I get that it's the first module but they've also had 4 years for this first module and it's honestly the biggest disappointment this year imo. The assets are pretty i'll give it that, but the core gameplay and just bugs it's not good. Give me a reason to have hope in this game.

    Hey was just wondering if you could change the character customisation so that the person moves less, its as if I am trying to change 5 toddlers clothes at once, they won't stop moving so its difficult to change the model's appearance by having to wait until they're idle for 2 seconds and then proceeding to wait. Also would appreciate it if you would have the lights in a different spot when customising the character because there are a sht ton of shadows so its kinda hard to see what skin tone I am selecting and when just customising. Just wondering if you will be adding the selection of colouring for the bae clothes anytime soon? I don't want my person looking like a rainbow.

    midle clic and when your furniture is purple you can move it, if que press escape while moving you but it back in your inventory

    Job wise I would most likely be paramedic, or rp as a nurse. But I will mostly be doing things like gardening, cooking and the like. I've got guy friends who would rp as my in game husband too!

    so apparently you can connect to all types of the apartments at this time ive walked into a penthouse and etc. also the same room I was provided another player was able to access so it seems like there still working on it

    Well, I kickstarted the game and I knew exactly what I was getting into when I handed over my money. It's always a risk and I was willing to donate to support the project with the amount I put in and also willing to accept the fact that I may lose that investment with little or no gain. The fact that this game can become a great one was and is the reason I still support it. I will continue supporting the game until the end wherever that may be, because it's a great idea. People need to understand the risk of paying for early access or kickstarting a game before they spend their money is the bottom line. If you're worried so much about losing your money, you should not gamble with it. If you are willing to lose that amount you gambled with, then you won't be so upset when you lose it. People are still defending the game because they want it to work out and want to have hope for it is basically what it comes down to. This is a game that a lot of people have wanted to be created. I have done a lot of 3d/2d work in the past and even dabbled into a little bit of programming, sound editing, and project management when I was working on my own game and I can tell you it is NOT an easy task. That is why I continue to support the project and hope for the best.

    That is the thing. This game isn't a beta or an alpha its barely a pre-alpha. when Minecraft first came out all you could do was break and place one block. Now, look at what it is.

    Like @SausageBlaster said but that is at the full game release. you will have the apartment in the module, so that you can play around and customise it. Joining a server is automatic but you will have your apartment when you go into the 1st module Town Square.

    Go to the lobby bartender, purchase furniture, go back to apartment, middle mouse click something and once highlighted blue, left click mouse, that pulls up the options for painting walls and floors, hit I to open inventory and select your furniture, then hit place in world. use mouse scroll to rotate the furniture to your liking

    The studio apartment is just temporary and we all have it just now. It will be changed later down the line once all of the major bugs and such have been worked upon and resolved. I don't have a specific date or time but just stay tuned and know that you will still get your two-bedroom apartment and two-car garage. For the car, however, you will have to wait until the Racing module comes out.

    Hello my fellow citizens and possibly developers. I am someone who is currently concerned with the state of the community and also the state of the game itself. I am going to be honest, I think what the main problem is: This idea for a MMORP game is not really a first game idea, it's a Triple-A Game idea, usually a large production team and a helluva lot of funding, a major company usually is behind it. The Developers, well, we have to understand that they came from modding and scripting a pre-existing game. The first product isn't gonna be perfect, they are mostly used to releasing mods, so of course it's hard to understand the seriousness of a first impression game release "failure" - delay in a mod releasing isn't a big deal, nobody *really* cares.. it's mostly "Oh, well, these mods are delayed? it happens, it's a mod" not "We waited years for a game, they botched it, let's pull funding and give bad reviews". To expect what started as a group of friends that had an idea that began by making mods on ARMA - to then have a great business practice straight away with most likely little corporate business experience, possibly with little to no retail experience.. to expect them to perform what you'd see at a company like Rockstar or E.A. or.. Ubisoft.. obviously there was gonna be a huge problem with that.. to go from being a mod developer group to creating a whole company dedicated to creating a Triple-A style game is a pretty high goal to reach.. it took Rockstar Games 10 years to make GTA 5.. and that was WITH the use of assets from GTA 4... which was a difficult thing to do in it's own right. I do believe they set the bar a bit high for themselves and didn't anticipate the backlash from the community, struggling dealing with said backlash and missed deadlines/release dates. Honestly - in time they might have some great potential.. but they really gotta open the lines of communication, be honest with the community and don't be so vague.. if someone from developing messed up.. then admit there was a mess up and move on, the community would respect them MORE for being open and honest instead of being kept in the dark and being vague and misleading... even if they messed up - we'd rather the truth and being kept up to date, instead of losing faith just because they are worried that admitting they messed up would ruin their reputation.. that sorta thing is corporate suicide.. you gotta come up with a solution and a plan and inform the investing parties as to what you'll do to fix the issues. We as a community should still support them in their idea.. but they HAVE to be open and start TALKING to people, not banning them for even asking what the hell is going on or being negative or potentially worse.. people have A RIGHT TO be mad, a RIGHT to KNOW what exactly is happening.. we're investors in our own rights, we're paying them money for a product.. so yes, we, as a people, will get angry for something that we paid for not being what we expected... I'm sure the investing parties would appreciate not being banned for asking questions or being frustrated or mad about this, this isn't a MOD where you can just ban people you don't like, this is a GAME, this is a BUSINESS now.. you can't just kick out and ban every nay sayer.. it's up to the business to prove the nay sayer wrong. I love this idea, I love the team's idea of creating a completely revolutionized MMORPG, every MMORPG is either medieval fantasy or futuristic.. but it's bad business conduct to ban people for asking questions or being mad at you for failing to deliver what was expected, you gotta be better, apologise for the mistakes and then announce what you will do to fix it... it's good business to keep the buyers in the loop of what's happening, even if it's not sunshine and rainbows.. we prefer honesty, we would trust them more and trust they know what they're doing if they're open and honest instead of misguiding and vagueness. So, with that being said, my associates and I will still wait for Identity's production to continue.. but both the community and the developers NEED to understand BOTH sides.. and to work together to make Identity happen. Come on people.. stand fast, stand strong, stand together.. it's what Commander Shepard would've wanted.     THEY fucked up BIG TIME. Stop coating it anyway you wish..... I disagree with a lot of your comments, its not a fault on both sides at all. Anyone with business sense will stay focussed and NOT release a pile of shit to the WORLD on day one...... A professional outfit would have stay focussed, would have indicated to their followers the holdups along the way, along with a reason of some sort, but to stay silent, and then panic when voices were raised and then release something that does NOT WORK.... thats unprofessional, thats a liability, thats your money down the drain. I don't give a fuck about the money that I have spent, really not interested..... what people NEED to start realising is that NO PROFESSIONAL would put their name to the trash thats been released. NEVER. (put yourself in their place, a game that you have spent years developing and the first time you want to release to the WORLD, you show them this???..... you would hang your head in absolute shame) These boys are amateurs....... stop hanging onto the idea that its a blip, its not.... its a complete FUCKUP. BIG TIME. Release a new "game" to the WORLD, and you release something that has clearly not been tested..... clearly looks like a 12year old has coded it..... clearly without information from the "team"..... its going no further. FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT...... look at the reviews, first impressions from people are AWFUL. They have put their own nails into their own coffins. Its laughable!

    They made many mistakes, and we made many mistakes. There were rumors, misconceptions, and just miscommunication on varying levels. This game means far too much to all parties involved for it to stay like this. Asylum's entire livelihood depends on this game at least satisfying those who've already supported it. They can't fail this. If they do, it's all over for them. They know this. They've delayed and patched and delayed and patched over and over because this needed to go well. Meanwhile, the fanbase is clamoring for a release, getting angry, and really not being in the background. I'm not trying to say Asylum is an innocent victim, and we are their bullies, kicking their body on the curb over and over. Neither party here, us or them, are blameless. People got angry. They have a right to. Asylum panicked, and handled things wonkily. People do that. We were all just being humans, but we forgot that. Asylum had to get this right, so they were already pressured. Combined with repeated errors and constant criticism from their backers, I'm not surprised it seems they've become a bit fearful of our reactions. A lot of people would be. On the other hand, the supporters have a very good reason, actually, many good reasons, to have behaved as such. Do I think it's right? No. Do I want us to keep doing it? Absolutely not, not to this degree. However, do I think we were unjustified? No. Asylum lied, misdirected, and upset a lot of people. They tried to do damage control later on, but with such a large group of people, when someone starts crying out, a lot of people tend to follow. It was easy to berate the Devs. While, of course, there were always a smattering of people trying to quell the masses, we were treated as fools, and that probably drove away that positivity. It was almost like the Devs and the fandom were circling each other, trying to see who was going to strike first, only to trip and impale themselves instead. We waited for the Devs to give us content, then tore it to shreds to see what we liked and didn't like. If we were displeased, they'd learn very quickly. People were getting angry and impatient. Time will do that, but it never justifies attacking people. Meanwhile, the Devs were always watching to see how we reacted. Most of the time, it was just grumbling, and when content came, it became fresh, hot anger at whatever people thought was wrong. That would scare anyone, so they started silencing those they believed they could. Then we got scared. What do you do when you're scared? Run away or fight. This is the internet. Not a lot of people run away, here. There's no real threat. It's so easy to just lash out and fire back when you feel wronged here. Both sides started feeling wronged. I think I'm digressing far too much, so I'm going to come back to my main point here. A lot of mistakes were made. Bad mistakes, small mistakes, you name it. Both parties messed up. Neither is a victim, but neither is an abuser. We put our money into this. There is no going back. We can't change that. We either keep fighting the people who have no choice now but to deliver at least a satisfactory product, or we try to limit ourselves and see if we can work together like we should. We all want this game to come out and be good. We're all people. We're going to be goofs. Let's just be goofs together, and try to pick each other up when we fall. Let the Devs hear some support more often. Devs, please don't silence those who are scared and concerned. Reach out to us first, and if that goes badly, then you can do what you feel needs to be done. Don't be afraid of your own supporters. It's hard to trust where there is no trust.

    I find it hard to believe they just went through the memberlist and picked you for a random ban. That said, you can use this link to follow the instructions for a refund: As far as your expectations vs what was provided in the 3 years of development (not 4)... well that's ultimately your opinion. If you don't feel the game met your expectations, you can try and get a refund. If you can't, you'll want to be more careful with buying/donating in to an Early Access game in the future. That said, I certainly don't think the release went well. The problems they're facing shows the module wasn't ready for release. But I think they knew that already. I think the only reason they released it is because they were damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they didn't, all hell would have broken loose like the last time they pushed the release back.

    Even if you weren't at Comic Con, it might not be till Sunday that we ALL can see Town Square. It's Saturday and I have yet to find a Download link on the main site and Steam is still Greyed out (Hasn't even installed yet). Enjoy Comic Con you'll be having more fun then the rest of us waiting for TS. lol

    We know for sure there will be some kind of Federal agency(ies) in the game. One of the devs speaks about it in the intro video on the Steam store page. So it's reasonable to believe that we'll see the functionality in-game. It's possible you'll need to go through the regular Police Department and "move up/into" the Federal agency.

    We're getting close! You can now connect your Steam account to your Identity game account and obtain your Identity game Steam key. This key will add Identity to your library so that when Identity is released, you can download it and start playing immediately without having to do anything else. To get your key, login on the main site (NOT THESE FORUMS) at www.IdentityRPG.com. You can then go to the Account tab of your profile where you'll see an option to link your Steam account. You must have BETA ACCESS on your account to claim a key! ATTENTION! You can only attach one steam account to one game account, and it's permanent. Be sure you're logged into your game account which has the items you've purchased before attaching a Steam account! While you won't get Identity in your game library just yet, you will very soon. Handing out the keys like this allows us to reduce load on our servers. We currently have 20,000 keys in the system and we'll be adding more.
