Why would they want to refund it after you have claimed it? By doing it through Steam it gives them a sales portal, deployment method and change control, but its not free. Under normal circumstances with sales via Steam, they pay a percentage to Valve. By giving us our keys through Steam, it is likely they have to put a value to that product and give Valve a cut. Blocking you and refunding you even though you didn't follow Steam's terms means a loss for them, as Steam aren't going to give their cut back if a refund is given outside of their terms. Whether the game suceeds of not, we will see. I am happy to leave the money I pledged in the project and see what happens, because I didn't buy a game. I bought in to an idea, and I have to wait to see if it pays off. I can understand people getting impatient and don't blame them for getting frustrated. When it comes to the refund side, its up to you to understand the policies. It's not out yet. There was no reason to rush to add the key to Steam. If anyone is unsure and thinking of asking for a refund, don't carry on trying to get access to the product. Why add it, knowing its not finished yet, and then cry refund a few days later? People doing that and calling it a scam is the BS.

Here's a step by step guide to claiming your Steam key in preparation for Town Square! Step 1: Head over to https://www.identityrpg.com/account/view/profile to view your items. You'll need to have the "Beta Access" item in order to gain access to the Modules. Step 2: Click the "Account" tab on the side and navigate to the "Click To Link" button beside the Steam logo. You'll be given a warning that linking your Identity Account with your Steam Account is a one-time procedure. When you're ready to make the link, click the button to proceed. Step 3: You'll be brought to Steam's website. Log in with the Steam Account you wish to associate with your Identity Account here. Step 4: After logging in with your Steam, return back to your profile page on the Identity website. You should now see a Steam key beside the "Steam Product Key" heading. (Clicking the "Linked" button beside the Steam logo will now bring you to your Steam profile.) Step 5: Take your product key and register it using Steam's "Product Activation" feature. You can find this by launching the Steam client, clicking the "Games" dropdown menu button on the top left corner of your screen, and then by selecting the "Activate a Product on Steam..." option. Step 6: You should then be greeted to an "Activation Successful!" screen, stating that "Identity: Town Square" has been associated with your Steam Account. Please note that Town Square won't appear in your Steam Games Library until we finish making the final few adjustments required to release the Module. Once we complete the final task on our Task Tracker, we'll then be able to make the Module visible.

ok this is like the 2nd or third time asking about this but this time its different. I still have high hopes for this game but now this is becoming a joke. this 1 task which is apparently the only thing standing in the way of release was something to do with a elevator and something with designing houses. why is this 1 task taking so long compared to the others? the longest we had to wait before this one was only like a day or 2 with no updates but this 1 task has been in (testing) for almost 3 months now, the devs say they are wanting the first look to be the best experience possible but the longer it takes the future becomes for cloudy for this game. what if they need a investor or deal with a service or something in the future and then that company does research and see how long it took them for 1 task to be completed? at this point I think they need to just say forget the elevator and whatever is broken, release the game and fix it while we play. every day more rants are popping up and more youtubers (big ones with over 50k subs) are dising the game causing more rants., im not just wanting them to release a game anymore so I can play it but because every day makes the future look more bleak now. don't believe me? ok if asylum said in a month they were releasing mod tools available for preorder? or a new concept? or something who at this point would really expect that update to be on time. again im not dissing the game and have talked quite a few people into getting this game but im starting to get really worried for the future. again cant wait for identity

You still didn't answer shit, keep saying the same thing over and over. It is not getting you anywhere. I'm not spreading rumors, I am voicing legit concerns. Your wasting your time dude, give up. You cannot seem to wrap your little brain around the fact that the timer should start the last time something was changed. There should be note of what was changed, what was added, what was finished, etc. What the fuck good is a timer if it is manually set?

No need to panic or rush. We have quite a wait for this to come out. By the time they are ready to release anything it will be fixed. We are still waiting on an Identity Insider to come out and then more time to pass before we see the Town Module. Town Module will just be an RP forums too so don't get too excited.. You aren't missing much.

Just to note: There is no application for joining the police force once Identity is launched. There may be one for private servers at the discretion of the server owner.

I could have sworn it was on kickstarter, maybe I am wrong, but that doesn't matter. Of course I know game development takes time, but as I stated clearly already, it has gotten to the point that I no longer see the project being remotely successful. At this point we have one single town block that still has not been released because of one single user interface bug, and no real information on what it is or what is taking so long to fix it. Also, don't forget the fact that back then it was supposed to be a playable game by now. It is already known that they have ran into problems previously and started completely over again. This tells me they are not planning ahead correctly and the further they get into the project, and the more stuff they try to integrate and tie together the more likely they are to run into similar issues. We are also expected to believe they are handing out steam keys early and at different times to reduce the load on their servers. If that is going to cause an issue for the servers, then how are these servers ever going to power a game like this? Honestly, it just looks shadier and shadier every day. Another thread was started where OP brought up the fact that if you activate your steam key you will no longer be able to ask for a refund. The thread was locked, (why? That in itself looks bad.) and a good point was being made. It is not out of the realm of possibilities that they have hit yet another roadblock and are hoping that everyone will redeem their keys so they don't have to give every one refunds when they come clean about it, is it? Meanwhile, every other game on steam is capable of refunds. Also, the trollish meme comments aren't helping anything either. You make it look like this is a community full of children who wouldn't be capable of any real role play anyways. Even if it does become an playable game at some point, it is only going to be enjoyable on whitelisted servers.
