9 pointsThis is very much the case. When it comes to the SWAT module, the mechanics are actually quite simple to create in comparison to the back-end that is the Town Square. The Town Square is just a social module but there's a LOT going on behind the scenes. It is our foundation. Even with my own position, I understand the discontent completely. People are looking for some depth and words only go so far. The reason we haven't shown off a lot is two-fold: first, the majority of the work going into the Town Square is back-end and foundation work. It's grueling work which unfortunately isn't fun to look at. It's the first bit we need to take care of, but it's not something we can show in a visual sense. Furthermore, giving detailed information on the inner-workings of our foundation code can actually do harm when that information falls into the laps of the wrong people. The second issue is one of psychology. Anyone who's been following games for much time can attest to the fact that first impressions are the only ones which matter for most people. This doesn't apply to everyone, but it does for the VAST majority of people; even if people understand something is a work-in-progress when they get their hands on it, the impression they get from that experience will persist. Fortunately, we're coming to the end of the worst wait in this. I know you've heard something like this before, so it's likely taken lightly, but it's looking quite up right now. In fact, we're not far from handing out the Steam keys to prepare for a Steam launch. Our earlier estimates were well off the mark because we ran into some pretty significant issues with the engine. Keep in mind we have a HEAVILY modified version of Unreal Engine 4. We've done some pretty large changes to accommodate a real MMORPG. I wish it hasn't taken this long, but we're committed to doing this right. We're not going to take shortcuts and release a product which isn't up to our standards. The wait is almost over and you're going to be getting some fun updates quite soon.

3 pointsI think its approaching truth time Asylum, April 20th 2018 - No release but only a 'Quite Minor' and 'short lived' delay. - Fair enough, more bugs can be found when fixing/diagnosing initial bugs etc. But with the amount of fixes that was needed before TS module was released, there is no way this could have ever been viewed as a 'short lived' process... A flipping tracker was made to keep track of the list! Not to mention breaking this to the eagerly awaiting community just 4 days shy of the release. You must have know over a month before that this was not going to make that deadline. June 6th 2018 - No release, but we are 'approaching release of the town square' - Most people have realised the initial bugs diagnosed on April 20th were bigger than the devs initially thought, but hey! It's almost here! Thats great! July 10th 2018 - No release, but gameplay is 'nearing release'! - Really? Havn't we heard that one before? August 30th 2018 - No release, but 'We're moving forward quite quickly right now'. - Of course... The main point I am coming to here is that we have been bullshitted for long enough. It's time to shit or get off the pot. Asylum, please be realistic with your community, everyone is completely fed up of hearing 'its almost here!' to the point that these words are entirely meaningless! Every time that phrase or similar is dropped, it is becoming less and less believable. If its going to take another 3 months, just tell us! Be honest! It won't be as bad as you think! If you are confident it is nearing release... think of your date, add 2 weeks to it, 3 to be safer, then announce it! If it arrives early, great!

2 pointsDon't place your bets on it, just look at how long this last task is taking. I wouldn't be surprised if the tracker finally gets completed then a part 2 comes.

2 pointsThe issues which are taking time are not directly UI related. The task which lead to these issues was one with the UI, but each task can lead to problems which need to be solved and dealt with. I did mention this (in parts) with the last developer blog I sent out. The main issues with the task have been solved. There are a couple medium level tasks remaining and they're just being finished up this week. We're moving forward quite quickly right now.

1 pointIn Dev Blog #19 it highlighted a Town Square game play live stream. I honestly loved what I saw, but what caught my eye was something probably others thought was small. During the video on the Blog at around the 3:50 mark he (still learning names) states "the governors can control the messages that are on these however other players can hack them" then goes on to explain the duration of the hack and that you can put messages on there and such and then immediately goes to something else. To me hacking can be a whole different job on the side. Like we should be able to hack lets say someones phone where they cant call or text someone for like 5 or 10 mins and obviously it has a cool down or cost a lot to do. The main reason for hacking a phone is getting an upper hand in a gang war as stated in Dev blog #20 What this could allow for is more of a surprise attack at the cost of hiring someone on the side. Obviously hacking could be implemented more into the game as in hacking TVs to show messages or terrorize someone. Computers to get information on someone like a cop or rival. In my eyes if hacking was implemented even more so than stated in Dev Blog #19 I bet you someone would form a hacking group kinda famous like Anonymous. This could already be an idea or it could be broken in some way so its just a thought but I love the idea of having a career and then being a hacker on the side.

1 pointThis has nothing to do with asking kindly or not talking to me, you were spreading false information by calling the creator of this topic a liar... you should know by now that the date upon someone joined the forum says nothing about when he pledged or for how long he has been waiting... maybe if you remember that I wont need to quote you anymore. I am not quoting you over some nonsense or anything of the nature, I am quoting you because you were wrong.
-
1 pointHonestly speaking, I have faith that by the end of this month it'll be up & ready. If I'm wrong, then, well.. honestly, I'll still wait patiently, I just prefer having my own mini-dates and a very small expectation to keep myself in this game as long as I've got 0 access to it. Lol, but that's just me.

1 pointScrolling through the forums for more than five minutes guarantees you numerous posts about how, "Identity will never happen," or questions like "the Town Square module has taken too long, does that mean the other modules will too?" Now I will admit these questions and concerns sometimes come with viable grounds yet a majority of them are wrongfully stated being only based off of personal opinion or rumors. HOWEVER, many people tend to overthink the reasoning behind the potential delays and INSTANTLY jump to this being a hoax and a way to steal peoples money. Now, I believe these developers are rightfully delaying the game and although it does bring up questions, it has good reasoning behind the delay. Many of you are just consumers: buy a game, play it, rate it, get bored of it and buy another, but there are also games out there that you tend to revert back to when nothing on the market is interesting and those are the games that when you picked them up and played them the first time, your expectations were not only met, but exceeded. What does that have to do with anything, you might ask? Simple. The developers know that in our largely online world, first impressions are key. With all the, "first look," and the "Review" YouTube videos, they know that the first impression of their game is going to be a deciding factor on whether they get 1,000 dedicated players, or 100,000. Many people largely rely upon the opinion of some YouTubers on whether or not they purchase games and these people would never even consider Identity if the YouTubers go on and on about the bugs and issues with the game if it were to be released too early, or even complain that the game itself wasn't even ready to be released and thus criticize the dev's as money craving individuals. That being said, I believe the developers of this game are rightfully delaying the release so that our initial experience is positive, and memorable rather than getting into a game and ripping into countless hours of work because we can't even take the elevator to the correct room. NOW ON THE CONTRARY to what I have said above, I do believe the developers owe us some sort of apology to giving us dates, and then pulling them right out of our grasp and letting us down. I have followed this game for a while now, and made an account just over a year ago (I believe, maybe it is just under? but either way that's beside the point.) and the one thing the dev's have been consistent in is telling us a release date, and then extending said date. That being said, I do believe they owe us at least something and should own up to their mistakes in planting high hopes only to remove them and tell us to wait longer. In conclusion, however, I do believe they are doing good work and that this game is going to be one hell of a game given the people behind it, and the potential of exploring a, more or less, new idea for a game. On paper, this game is no doubt going to be one of the best games upon full release, and the dev's I believe are doing their best to see to it and have a game that competes with even the top game developing companies. So in the end, they are doing the best we can and as a community we should at least credit them that instead of bashing the work they wake up to do daily. But going with that, they do owe us some sort of an apology or explanation that furthers what they've said instead of vague terms used to tell us the game is, "close." Thanks for reading this, It only took me about ten minutes to type but it's what I more or less believe. They're doing what they can with what they have, and being such a small team they're doing really well.

1 pointYou are only able to create 3 characters. If you want to join a different server you have to choose one of the characters you already created to join that server.

1 pointThe developers that appear on the Asylum Development Streams are exclusively tailored to work on the visual aspects of Identity. It would be great to have them help out with the programming! But it's unfortunately not something they're specialized in. The programmers are working throughout for the duration of the streams, and they'll sometimes listen in or comment in the twitch chat while their work is compiling. Regarding showing things off in Town Square, we've had 2 streams in the past where we got to see John run around the Module's environment. The stream on May 29th showed off the character creator and general environment of Town Square, where the stream on June 28th demonstrated a few of the interactions players can partake in. The CEO mentioned at the end of a recent development stream that the next piece of gameplay media we want to present will be a feature video of sorts. As John put it, "we need to have a video that represents the Town Square" for when our Steam page goes public. Here's the excerpt if you'd like to hear it: Misc (Any word on the next gameplay video? Media for Steam page?) https://clips.twitch.tv/StormyAcceptableHerdDBstyle (I'm unsure if we'll see another gameplay stream before the launch of the Module, but I have been pitching the idea to the devs so they definitely know there's interest.) We're going to try to include everything you've seen in the streams into the Day 1 build of Town Square where possible. Should the final UI task on the tracker become completed while we're still importing furniture/clothing/hairstyles etc. then we'll include the rest later. The art assets integral to Town Square's launch have been completed and we won't hold up its launch to import a recently modeled/designed item or graphic. The task tracker has indeed looked the same for quite a while. While the final "In Testing" task denotes the integration between the UI and the Housing System, the team discovered some serious bugs at a deeper level of the game during its testing phase. This was mentioned briefly in Dev Blog 20, where the CEO states that the significant bugs the team encountered "were deep in the engine and were show-stoppers". They needed to be addressed immediately, which explains the slow progress time for the final testing task. The major issues the devs ran into have since been rectified, and we're now focused on eliminating the minor problems still present with the UI + Housing System integration. Regarding PR, we do have plans to reach out to the community more frequently in the future through the release of more Identity Insiders and a change to the Dev Blog format. In Dev Blog 19, John mentions users will be able to look forward to "more frequent developer video blogs", with the idea that the transition to a video format will be both more entertaining and engaging for the community. In Dev Blog 20, he also states that we'll be sending out more frequent Identity Insiders soon ("We're talking a few each month!"). For the present moment, however, we do realize news has been slow. The entire team has been heavily invested in finishing this final task (apart from the artists as mentioned above of course), making it difficult to get out consistent updates. It would be great to compile a list of weekly updates from each specific developer, or sit down with the guys in the office at the end of each week on stream to discuss current progress! But this would come at the cost of making Town Square release later, and getting the Module out right now is our #1 priority. This is why the recent Dev Blog released later than usual, as John needed to focus more on Town Square's programming (as well as help the web dev out with some website tweaks). Even I've been tasked with helping test Town Square, so I apologize for not being as active on the forums (I'm definitely making an effort to appear here when I can though). In the future we'll definitely discuss updates more frequently with the Insiders and video Dev Blogs, but right now we need to devote as much time as we can into getting the Module completed. I hope this post helps address some of your concerns FuzzyDoesMedia (and I apologize for the wall of text).

1 pointWhat the game Nine to Five RPG has accomplished in 2 months means they are well on track to surpassing identity... Imagine how fast things will speed up if they manage to receive their goal on Kickstarter Have you seen the way their car moves. looks like it steers from the middle of the car. I don't think its anywhere as good as Identity. and I don't think they have enough money to keep going. if you feel that Nine to Five is better, Go pledge to them and stop moaning about Identity.
-
1 pointBut its not invalid as i already pointed out. You cant just assume someones pledge date using the date he joined the forums.
-
1 pointI love the weird logical fallacies some people come up with "you joined this year; therefore your opinion is invalid" yeah... okay...
-
1 pointIt's not that people are brainwashed. It's that some people have more patience than others. Because some people don't agree with you, they are brainwashed? Perhaps some people are brainwashed here because they've had everything handed to them on a silver platter via the larger gaming companies, so when it comes to times like these, they whine and complain about a nail being broken or something. However, I'm sure you'd rather not be considered brainwashed either, so why not just understand that people have different opinions? Anyway, I think what's really happening here is that some people don't understand the development process. You don't just simply create a game and people play it. The development process is long and tedious. I do think they could use a little more transparency; however, it's also a small company and that transparency would likely be really REALLY boring, especially if there's not much new to report.

1 pointNine to five isn’t on Kickstarter anymore they moved to indiegogo, so that even if they don’t meet their goal they get all the money pledged. Also look at identity’s first vid, it has way more with way better graphics, and they had only been working on identity for a few months at that time.
-
1 pointWhat the game Nine to Five RPG has accomplished in 2 months means they are well on track to surpassing identity... Imagine how fast things will speed up if they manage to receive their goal on kickstarter. Everyone received an email off Identity about a month ago stating how we're all going to receive multiple emails every month now... Did we?? No... Why? Because it was just a quick attempt to gain a bunch of extra cash from potential new customers. They hyped up some mafia territory thing and some new pets to peak peoples interest again. We will probably receive a similar email in a few months time with some convenient new cash shop items... again promising lots of emails every month only to go dead after that single one. Wonder what the next news thing will be.... "Introducing planes to travel around the world... Buy your plane now for a limited time before it's gone forever"

1 pointTown square will probably be released sometime next year. But the town square itself is unlikely to offer much entertainment. It would be more about walking around and not doing much other than socializing with other people. People will get bored of that very fast. And it's took them this many year just to sort that out.
-
1 pointI agree with you here and you have made a genuine criticism, but a lot of the people here are brainwashed and won't see this as a genuine criticism.

1 pointThey won't stop, there will always be someone who's not satisfied and will not hesitate to show it, whether it's on the forum or on the Discord. I will not blame anyone for being upset about a single module that haven't released after over three years of development. I do encourage to ask questions, to get informed. It's okay to also give opinions, based on facts. But some people do get angry or overly dramatic, and will make pessimist remarks. I just find those useless as they bring nothing good to the development.
