6 pointsRamping up It's been busy as usual here at the Asylum office! For the past few weeks, we've had our testers running through all of the systems in the Town Square and a whole lot of progress has been made toward release. They've done an awesome job in finding the remaining bugs, and our team's been doing an equally awesome job in squashing them. As you likely noticed when following the Dev Tracker on our website, we're down to the testing stages on one remaining task. We've been working on this one for a while as there were a couple significant bugs encountered. These bugs were deep in the engine and were show-stoppers. Fortunately, we've recently defeated them and put them behind us. We're now knocking out the remaining minor issues being found by our testers and things are looking great. With the new website online (more on this below) we're soon going to be handing out Steam keys for those with access to the Town Square. This doesn't mean you can play just yet, but we're getting close enough that we're going to be bringing you on board in preperation. If you're wondering how it's going to work, it's really pretty simple. Once we launch this feature shortly, you're going to be able to log into your game account on our website. You'll then see the option to link your existing Steam account. Once you've linked your account, you'll be given a key which, when entered into the Steam client, will add Identity's Town Square to your game library. You won't need to log in to play, as we know who you are based on your Steam account. I'd recommend following us on social media (Twitter and Facebook especially) to watch for this coming announcement. Gangs and Warfare We're changing the Identity Insider format! Instead of larger insiders once in a long while, we're going to be sending out more frequent updates. We're talking a few each month! These Insider updates will paint a detailed picture of Identity's full gameplay experiences. To kick this off, we posted the following update on our new website just yesterday: Identity Drug Cartel Concepts (click image for more) You've made stacks of cash pushing drugs and the odd robbery, but when push comes to shove, you'll find strength in numbers. A gang is a group of ruffians with the goal of obtaining power and infamy through the domination of those around them. Gangs are often at war with one another as they compete for limited resources, whether it's turf, drugs or blood. There's no shortage of criminal activity in the world outside of gangs, but true power belongs to the syndicates and cartels with the strength and fortitude to rule over their rivals. Comradery Identity is all about working together with your friends, and gangs are the social structure geared towards crime. You can belong to only one gang at any time, so choose where your loyalty lies. Your gang has a full rank structure and the leaders can control access levels for each member based on that rank. As your gang grows, it can also unlock additional perks for all members. The gang leadership can designate any home owned in the world as the HQ, giving access to all members of the gang. Hang out with your gangmates and stockpile weapons, drugs and anything else you can get your hands on. Your HQ, like your personal homes, can also be used for respawning on death. This makes it an important rally point when *#!% hits the fan! Cartels Cartels are conflict areas which are controlled by one gang at any time, providing the owners with control over trade and traffiking of their related substance throughout all the land. To the victor goes the spoils. The cartel zone is a functional HQ for the current owners. Turf Identity Turf Neighborhood Concept Take control of city neighborhoods with gang turf zones. While cartels control substances across the world of Identity, the gangs who dominate a neighborhood have direct influence over criminal organizations in that area, such as drug dealers. Lookouts in the area will spot rival gangs in the streets of your turf and text message members of your gang in the area. Controlling gangs get access to a safe house in the area, tightening their hold. Warfare Dominate gangs who cross your path and prove your strength. Declare war on your rivals and hunt them down. Gang members who are at war are completely vulnerable to one another through the stress system, and so you need to be on the lookout at all times. Prey on your enemies until they submit to your demands. When declaring war on another gang, the other gang must accept the spoils set by the agressor. The spoils can include cash, turf, real-estate and more. When one side has had enough and ends the war, they forfeit those spoils to the stronger gang. In Identity, most items people carry can be taken if they're killed. What's theirs, is yours. War is hell. New website is finally here! The Identity website has had an overhaul to prepare for the Town Square release and Steam integrations. The new website brings all kinds of cool new features, mostly for the game account systems and the Identity shop! We're also going to be filling up the About page with all sorts of new information from the Insider releases. Now that the website has a true and proper shop, you can now get your hands on cool new items without having to buy entire packages. The shop now has all kinds of exclusive items, including apartment pets! You'll be able to get your hands on friendly critters for your home in-game as well, although those featured on the shop are only available there. Some of these items are only available for a limited time. Some of the new items include: Custom T-Shirt Graphic - Upload an image which can be placed on T-Shirts you create in-game! Each image can be used on 10 shirts. Vanity License Plate - Show your style with a custom license plate, visible on your in-game vehicle. Vanity Phone Number - Want a number that's easy to remember? Get a vanity phone number for yourself or your business. More Apartment Floorplans - Floor plans which haven't been available since Kickstarter, including the enormous Penthouse. Huge Clothing Packages - Clothing packages including clothes with dozens of original brands. Pets! Cats, dogs and more - Pets currently available include sphynx and tabby cats as well as pugs, maltese and the shiba inu (doge?). Another important note: when the new payment options (aside from PayPal) go live, we'll shortly after be removing all of the old packages. We will at this time never again be selling cash, so there's not much time remaining to get starter cash before Identity goes live. This is not something we plan to sell again in the future, but all who have it in their account will be able to claim that cash once on each server. Visit the New Identity Site Now! The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. We also use that time to answer almost every question that gets asked about Identity's development and gameplay. Now that we've been doing this a while, we've answered a lot of questions. Our awesome community manager, BeachBall, has taken the time to compile a massive list of questions linked to clips where they're answered by a developer. Get comfy and head over to the Twitch Clips Directory forum thread. If you haven't found this already, be prepared to spend a good bit of time listening to all sorts of awesome information. Identity's development is going great thanks to the support of people like you, but systems like these take a lot of manpower and resources to create. Identity has an awesome community behind it, but when more people know about what we're creating and our budget grows from pledges, we can not only work faster but we can do more, too. If you're as excited to play Identity as we are making it, help spread the word. The gaming industry has needed a game like Identity for too long; let's make it great together!

3 pointsI forgot about this game for a while but just received the email stating it’s coming really soon! Unfortunately, I see I never bought a package. My question is what package/items did you buy? I’m tempted to get the luxury apartment (both vanity items and Maltese dog) but I don’t see the point if I’ll just get the same motorcycle as the other packages. Do you think it’s better to buy the basic module/passport package and wait to see in-game first?
-
2 pointsI recently purchased the vanity license plate from the Identity store, expecting a feature that seems to be common: preregistration. I wanted to be able to register my vanity license plate as soon as I bought it, but I was told after asking on the Discord server that this would (probably) be a feature only implemented in the game's release. I know it may sound silly, but the only reason I bought the item was so that I could claim the plate that I wanted before someone else took it. It would really make my purchase seem justified if a system like this was put into place.
-
2 pointsI'm probably going to start with nothing and enjoy earning it all.
-
2 pointsI think it will be more balanced than you think. I know a lot of people who want to be cops. And also a lot of people want to be civilians and work normal business jobs.

2 points@Hatoful Good idea! I never thought about the playstyle a package has for others. Thank youuu!
-
2 pointsIf you're on the fence about what to get I would at least buy the Founder so you have access to the modules and beta. Personally, I bought the Homeowner package so I would have someplace to call home once the game is released! I'm pretty content with it, but I guess it depends on what you want to do in the game. Some people like starting from the bottom and working their way up so they only have the basic package. Others might want to explore the island so they have one with a car in it. Decorating a luxury apartment sounds pretty cool though so if you have spare funds I would definitely go for the apartment! ^.^

2 pointsThanks for the updates and yes, I think we'll benefit from meatier, more concise and frequent updates.
-
2 pointsThis is correct. A game really only gets one first impression, so we have to make sure that it's (for the most part) a positive experience. Even if a game is marked as beta or early access, if the first impression fails people will almost never return. Thus, we're making sure everything is running smoothly. There were a couple pretty significant bugs with this last task which were the result of problems with the engine, quite deep down. We've worked around them now and things are looking good. Your friendly moderators are testing up a storm for us. There are bugs, but nothing major, and they're being squashed.

2 pointsThe finishing touches Greetings, and again thank you, to all of Identity's backers receiving this dev blog. Everyone's been hard at work putting together a game that can change the industry, and you're soon going to be getting your first taste. With the Town Square (Identity's first social gameplay module) nearing release, we're hard at work testing and putting the finishing touches on two of the major features. Everything's been progressing very well and I'm quite proud of the team. These last systems are the art/canvas mechanics and the player housing. Both of these have been functional for a long time, although a couple tweaks need made before we push Town Square out the door. A few minutes of decorating an Ash Hill penthouse We've added a new button in the elevators to allow you to visit a public version of any apartment. You can run around and see them in their default state before committing to buying them for yourself. This will be a very useful way to explore the available options, given that some of the floorplans will be very rare to come across with other players. Above is the penthouse after a few minutes of quick decoration. I'm not exactly a decorator, myself, but you can get a good idea of the way it looks now! It's a huge space with three large bedrooms (which means you and two friends can use it as your home) and tons of storage. We've had to refactor the backend of the housing system a good bit, but the end result you see is everything you saw in the prior Identity Insider apartment video. All features shown then will be ready for you soon in the Town Square! We have lots of other cool features coming for your house parties that you haven't seen yet, too. In case you hadn't seen that video, or you want to see it again, I've linked it below. Identity Insider: Housing - CLICK TO VIEW VIDEO Town Square gameplay live stream With my last developer blog post I included a link to gameplay video from our live stream showing character creation and the exterior environment in the Town Square module. Recently, I joined in on another development live stream to show about 20 minutes of more Town Square gameplay. This time I showed off interior environments as well as a few of the gameplay mechanics you're going to come across in the Town Square. YouTube Town Square preview live stream 2 - CLICK TO VIEW VIDEO The team and I are so very excited to show you guys what we've made in the Town Square and beyond. The Town Square isn't enormous on its own, but it's a very good way to give you an idea of how the world looks and feels. The task master The Task Tracker is a new tool on our website which displays up-to-date data pertaining to how much work is remaining for the Town Square release. If you've been following our progress through the tracker, you'll have seen that just a couple of days ago it progressed to its current point, with only two tasks remaining at the in-testing state (the ones I described above in this blog post). Keep your eye on the tracker to get the best idea of when we're ready to go. You will of course also get notified by email when the Town Square is published on Steam! The future of the Dev Blog This may be one of the last couple developer blogs being sent out in this format as we're planning on soon transitioning to more frequent developer video blogs! In the past, it's always been myself who wrote these blog posts. They've been a great way to reach out and letting everyone who doesn't follow us on social media know what we've been up to. That said, I think I speak for most people when I say video is more interesting and entertaining! Look forward to meeting the team face-to-face in short but frequent videos. Some will be general updates about our work on Identity and some will be focused on certain aspects within the game. Also, on that note, you're going to be getting a very interesting Identity Insider very shortly, covering criminal activity and gameplay. It's a major part of the game and we've surprisingly not been asked many questions about these systems in the past. You'll be getting all kinds of juicy new information and ideas of what you're going to encounter! The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. (eventuell in 1-2 Jahren)

1 pointI keep seeing this being used as a defence but did the developers clearly state this in the kickstarter description? If they did not then they took money for this investment knowing that the investors were essentially being scammed. For example... If I go to buy a vehicle and the owner tells me I should receive the vehicle at the end of the month then I know to expect a potential delay of maybe a week or so which is fine. If that 1 month turned into 2 years I would say I've been scammed even if I eventually got my vehicle. Now... if this owner said to me beforehand "look you will get your vehicle in about 2 years time but I'm only allowed to show a listing delay of 30 days so don't expect it beforehand" Then that is completely fine I knew what to expect. What I'm saying is... if they did not explain the situation during the kickstarter progress KNOWING that the project would take much longer than the maximum time they were allowed to put then what they did was in essence scam people into giving them money which had they known the actual deadline most probably would not have invested / donated. (I'm sure the investment would have come from other people eventually) I love this game I can't wait to play it but you constantly defending something that shouldn't be defended is not helping the situation and doesn't calm people down.
-
1 pointIt really is up to your play style. Personally I have OCD so I plan on purchasing EVERY package there is just so it can say Player Owned on them. Currently I got Penthouse, VIP Package, Pets, Vanity, Clothing, and All vehicles/Motorcycles. Will work on garages and rest of houses later.
-
1 pointI bought the biker package. I thought it would be a nice way to start out. Do a little bit of exploring before settling on a certain area or profession. Also, I wasn't sure how long it would take me to start receiving enough income to pay for all the "pretties" I actually wanted. (i.e. flashy apartment) I'm sure the starting cash on some of these packages would be enough to pay the rent for a bit but I didn't have the numbers to say how long. My only advice about which package to get would be *clear throat* "Don't pledge what you will miss" @AVANAH Love your quote.

1 pointHopefully, most of the players won't be brain-dead idiots. Most of the people on Garry's Mod Dark RP or any other GMod RP server don't take the roleplay aspect seriously, and they ruin the whole RP experience with their stupid shenanigans. On more serious RP servers, especially Military RP (on GMod), I see less of meaningless bullcrap because of the players actually wanting to roleplay, not be idiots. Identity's detailed systems and heavy focus for roleplay should automatically weed out those who are not there for a detailed RP experience.

1 pointI just have the $30 founders pack. I’m thinking of upgrading, but idk. Because I kind of want to start with nothing and get everything on my own.
-
1 pointThere will be servers everywhere possibly but no servers exist yet because the module is not released.
-
1 pointI am overwhelmed with your response. It must have been extremely difficult to do "nothing" but insult someone. However I suppose that's your contribution.
-
1 point3.7 years not 4 or 5. Don't ever pledge to something early if you feel you might ever think it is wasted on that something. Are you in the discord already, maybe come visit the discord. A lot of information, questions get answered also often in there! https://discord.gg/46GvAJk

1 pointProblem is people are salty because of what has been going on with this game or vaporware or whatever it is. I'm going through this right now with Camelot Unchained. Over 3 years backing and delay after delay. The development team here isn't doing ANYTHING to calm it down with transparency. Everyday we come on here and it's the same bullshit and people just get more and more angry. Funny thing is there isn't anything really to do in Town Square honestly. You will run around for 2 hours then be bored and all of this will start all over again until the next module comes out in 2025. I almost put some money down, glad I didn't, been through this with way too many games. I learned my lesson long ago.
-
1 pointIf you convince me to invest into your project, You better believe i will come through and hold you accountable and will like to know the progress. If you're not asking questions then it's you choice. Don't expect everyone else to simply bend over. What have you contributed if you are shouting about contributions? Define your contributions when not being part of dev team? The fact that you probably have no clue or never touched a game engine in your course of life determines the ease of rolling over. I suggest you watch your language, There community also has a lot of youngsters around so have some consideration.
-
1 pointI believe that if they have not yet released it is why they are correcting minor bugs, like those of UI that are a real headache, throwing something incomplete will tarnish the image of the game, which is something that Asylum does not want at the moment.
-
1 pointSo we get some more fairytales about all the fantastic content they are going to put into future module we will most likely never see... They can't get through module 1 without causing a train wreck and pissing the community off - All these new ideas about what is going to be included in the final game is all just fantasy. Unfortunately, this game will sink itself when module 1 is released as 90% of backers out there will be disappointed with what is released. I am guessing they are still getting a few more subscriptions here and there with every day that the module isnt out... They know the moment the module 1 is released, their funding will stop because youtube will be full of people playing module 1, then running out of content to show as no one wants to watch a chess game on repeat - therefore no more investors. By the time the next module is out (say another year to be generous to the speed of development) this game will be long forgotten.
-
1 pointThere are a few bugs and problems with the website but they are working on it.
-
1 pointA dis functional and confused community is the result of poor communication. Even if people can't put there finger on it, they know they been swindled. After all it is just a unfinished game that we all donated to and not bought.
-
1 pointThat is correct. My problem is that they should not have put a tracker up at all - it is inaccurate and does not portray what is actually going on. Had they not put it up to try and appease the community, there would not be so much negativity surrounding this game. They have put it up to give themselves an infinite deadline - it wont be released until all the tasks are complete... So they are there sitting there, no pressure to deliver because the tracker isn't complete... what a nice gig!
-
1 pointMy opinion may not count too well but for what it is worth, here I go. I understand venting your frustration, but a lot of your frustration is what we all passively feel in different ways whether more quietly or as aggressively. We all would like this wonderful concept of an MMORPG (in literal sense of Role-Playing Game) to be released and although many may be upset and many may be frustrated... a game in development is not something that can just be launched because we want it done. Somewhere in this forum, someone mentioned that with every test, there may be a bug, and with every fix on that bug, another bug may appear. When you consider the idea of the game, the coding that had to be done from scratch, and the previous sentence, you have to be considerate to the game's development. Yes, it may suck that the game is not playable as of yet, but in no way/shape/form would I want this game to be launched just to have servers going down every hour to fix this or that. Even when this first module is launched, we will face bugs/glitches that will force us to end our gameplay for a limited time, but I would prefer a much smaller scaled version of patches/updates than servers being constantly worked on due to the Developers giving in and launching the module. Many others including myself have pledged $30 or more towards this game and still remain patient. The only advice I could give you is not to pan out your anger and frustration in this way, as someone above mentioned, the Developers never respond to these things. While staying either optimistic or patient is tough, your best bet is to do what you feel you should. Whether you feel a refund is necessary, or if you have a change in your mindset and decide to ride it out towards launch - these decisions are up to you. Many of us have chosen to wait until the launch and I'm sure some of us including myself stay in the shadows of these forums and check on the progression towards launch every so often. Personally, I keep up to date with not just this game's potential and launch, but a few others as well. Without getting too off-topic, there is one game in particular which is taking 'uber' long to launch and I know it's not coming out anytime soon but I have no problem with it. Developers take their time and info/clue us in when it is needed. Perhaps we should know more. Perhaps. But until then, patience is a virtue.
-
1 pointIn reality all we really need is the basic Arma Asylum RP experience in Unreal engine. THATS IT. We just need a working vehicle a working pistol apple tree market cops Thats it! Just those parameters can recreate the basic ARMA RP scenarios. Just give us that and then work on your grand vision. We don't need apartments, clothing, etc we need working guns, cars, market, cops. Still love you John! Looking forward to the full game.

1 pointThis about sums up my opinion of the forums. People are complete fanboys. I appreciate the developers, but also understand that they have fucked up. Just because you are admitting the devs have handled this whole project wrong doesn't mean you hate them. These people absolutely refuse to admit any fault on the devs side. It's something I have noticed a certain forum moderator do frequently too, instead of accepting responsibility for their mistakes they blame it on the consumers (us). It isn't the devs fault for missing two deadlines, its our fault for not being patient. It's not the devs fault for taking ages, its our fault for not understanding how developing games works. It's not the devs fault for putting all these micro transactions and overpriced addons, it's our fault for not understanding how expensive development is. It's always our fault, I rarely if ever see an apology, always excuses. I'm not attacking the devs, as I have stated, I am on their side, just stating an observation.

1 pointI've been a VIP backer for a year and a half now. . . I know some others have been backing for longer than that. So far what I'm seeing is a major disconnect between the developers and the backers. We've been delayed far too long, and we don't even know what we're backing yet. There's been "small" "game-play" videos, but no actual "fruit." I am now getting to the point where I feel like I've been waiting too long for too little, and considering refunding. I don't necessarily want to go that route, because I am excited, and have been, to see what Asylum has to offer. But, Asylum was supposed to start "sharing" more with us, and I feel as they haven't met that expectation. Yes, there's been videos and streams of development, but I've gotta say it's far too little far too late. We haven't seen ANY of the content that we've been backing for, with the exception of the incredibly small video's which have been released relating to Town Square, and a horribly scripted RP meth lab shootout. Not to mention the TS module tracker that goes days without being updated. . . I don't mean to rant, but what's going on Asylum, what are we waiting for, and how much longer can we expect to be delayed? So far it's been pretty redundant, standby and wait to standby and wait longer, oh and by the way. . . Since we've delayed twice already, we're not gonna inform you (the players and backers) when to expect the NEXT delay. . . Asylum, the least you could do, is show us what our pledge's contain and give us a timeline of when we can expect to see the TS module. And to be clear, I'm not counting "place-holder" assets. Please Asylum, give us something to feed us, I know I'm not the only person who feels this way.

1 point1 Gameplay task 'testing' ? library is not done and the and the coffee shop? Is the fixing broken legs and arms user interface or gameplay??? This task tracker is complete bullshit. About the broken arms. Look in the recent gameplay video and look at the ai where he goes to buy drugs and his arms are missing and legs? these guys are big on the talking but short on the doing Show literaly no gameplay. Talking so much about doing all this shit but dont show it? Why dont they show more stuff you can do. Go to the apartments and customize it? or find some uncopyrighted music and show if the karaoke actually works fully. Maybe go to the tattoo shop and put on a tattoo? oh wait they cant because none of its done. MonkaS. Town Square defo not coming out this summer. They plan doing another video and releasing a website before the TS comes out. It took them another month to do this most recent video. Let me guess another month for the 3rd 'Gameplay' Video and then another month for New website? ARMA 4 will be out before this and just play the new RP on that than this shite. Also that running animation has been the same since the apartment video 2 years ago. in the tracker the entire BUG TRACKER has been completed but in the recent video i still see so many bugs. Also the gameplay video they showed a while ago which was the cars and the gunplay showing to rv van. Remember that?. None of that will be in the town square, Instead of focusing on that stuff why not focus on polishing and releasing the TS???? I could say so much about this but im ending it here.

1 pointIf you mean by a dedicated gross windows server by meaning you are renting/ you own one then you have guessed wrong on how community servers being hosted. You cannot host a server on your own dedicated machine, your PC or such and you must/ can only rent the server from trusted server providers chosen by the developers.
