3 pointsI mean I agree with most things you say but I don't think your comment on people asking for refunds is very fair. It's not that they "threw money blind without thinking," it's that they chose to back a game which has failed to meet up to it's own deadlines (which none of us set), and has failed to deliver on really any promise. When they chose to back the game they had an expectation that the game would come out at some point and had trust on the devs. With not a single promise being delivered on, they no longer have trust in the development team and therefor no longer wish to back the product. As much as I am on the devs team, that is entirely their own fault and I am sure even the project leaders would agree that they have made these mistakes. Let's take a real product. Imagine you are pitching a real product to an investor. You mention how you will have a working prototype, you give them milestones and deadlines for the release of your product, you have an amazing pitch and based on that the investor chooses to invest. If that investor later finds that none of your deadlines have been met, you are months behind schedule and while you had a great pitch, that is really the only thing you had and everything else was just false promises, they will likely chose to withdraw their investment. This is what crowdfunding is. It is a two-way exchange. It's not just we throw money at someone and say "you do whatever you want and take however long you need", you are investing into a product for which you have expectations. If your expectations aren't met, you may no longer wish to invest. I feel that there is some confusion on here about all of this. I did not 'donate' to this games development. I invested in it. I am willing to accept the failed deadlines and allow the developers the time and space they need, however some people are not, and I don't think it's fair to say those people just randomly threw money at a product without thinking. There is blame on both sides here.
-
2 pointsbut up until now the only thing that was available was a concept... once an actual product is available, people will get lured in
-
2 pointsThe two question pages were posted years ago, and things have changed since then, ergo the delayed release. Video-game-development isn't instant, and when creating a game this massive, a small team will have a long and bumpy road creating it.

2 pointsNot to be that guy but, read the rules: Please don’t 1. Troll. Trolling does not contribute to meaningful discussion. 2. Spam. Spamming clutters the forum and makes it difficult to find original content. 3. Flame, or attack others. Insults do not contribute to discussion, and will be removed. 4. Repost Deleted Content. Content that was deleted was removed for a reason, even if the reason is unclear. 5. Advertise, websites or services unrelated to Identity. We do not sell advertising space on the Identity forums. 6. Cross Post. Cross-posting makes it difficult for users using the search function to find relevant information, and may be considered spam. 7. Ask for Likes. Likes are given to those for contributing useful information in a discussion. 8. Abuse reports. Reporting content because you do not like a specific user adds extra work for moderators. 9. Engage rule violators. You may accidentally violate these rules yourself by responding to others that you feel aren’t following these guidelines. 10. Make low-effort posts. Contribute useful information to the discussion, and avoid going off-topic. 11. Discuss Politics/Religion. These subjects are sensitive and may offend others. I'm particularly talking about rule #11. This is why it is a rule as this sort of crap happens.

1 pointAnd that is the exact reason they will not rush out any unplayable broken alpha module. They have to nail it first time, even if they lose a few impatients backers along the way.
-
1 pointHa, don't place your bets on it. The game has been on Kickstarter give or take 3 years iirc, and it's only raised 1.2m.
-
1 pointWhat is your favorite fast food place? (if you like another place that i haven't mentioned then just type it in the deception) -Johannes
-
1 point$1.2m isn't funding just for TS, it's the funding for the entire game. Wake up, obviously GTA V is a triple A so therefore would have more funding but 200x more? This game is a lost cause, drastic lack of funding.
-
1 pointWell fair enough, I don't think I can really add much more to the conversation since for the most part I do agree with you so we'll leave it there. Thank you again, you are always up for friendly discussion and I love it
-
1 pointYes indeed people, have genuine reasons. I totally agree but not most of them. the majority are the ones who blindly pledge. I am very sure the ones who genuinely have asked for a refund because they have lost hope for it are likely including the reason, that they now need the money back. People do consider most of those questions but not all I am sure. Also even if you put $30 in, you should consider the questions, because at the end of the day when you pledge, the devs add it to the budget. If you refund after the money is in that budget, it screws them around with recalculating.
-
1 pointBut GTA V is a triple A game, with crazy levels of detail. This is a town square with very limited features and things to do.
-
1 pointFor a large investment, I would 100% agree with you. But most people are donating less than $80 (I am assuming here correct me if I'm wrong). Me personally I donated $30 I think. For an amount that low we just look at the general idea, see that we will be able to play early 2017, and the couple of gameplay videos really sealed the deal. But when the delays start coming in we start to think to ourselves that that $30 is better spent on another game I can play now, so we refund. Again, I am on your side and agree people should understand where their money is going, however I absolutely understand why people are losing trust and refunding, and I don't think it is out of ignorance.

1 pointGod its so annoying to see everyday another post about how long this takes. Does anybody these days know how long it takes to develop a game in this size with a small team?
-
1 pointA long while ago i got excited hearing about this game. I been around Arma 2/3 Life Mods or RP communities and that is where Asylum is coming from as well. I haven't said that much throughout the course of the time, I think once i finally asked questions regarding some sort of an update what is going on the development side. Asylum needs to start getting their stuff together and be more in sync with the community. I seen tons of posts with responses such as "Development takes time", "They have a small team" And even then i still waited patiently. However after watching few videos witch character creation and game play or rather so-called game play i realized for a term of 3 years, including some hicups they had not that match has been done. I mean they do have dedicated artists and coders. Now before someone shouts back and says that i have no idea what i am talking about let me share this with you. I started screwing around with Unreal Engine and Unity, And honestly in a month of time you can get a similar content they have been showing us. Sure you can get a nice working map, invest into few assets such us day/night cycle with full weather, You can't even get a AAA Locomotion System for Unreal Enginethat is truly amazing for character movement and tons better of what we seen in the recent game play streams. Let's be serious, the content shown to use is definitely not something that would take years to develop, We are seeing character movement, character creation and buildings that are decorated and almost no functionality introduced. You can search on you tube and find people decorating a map in 4 hours with stunning results... See this Speed Level Design done all in Unreal 4. The real question is are we being told the truth because i am starting to feel like i am not being told the whole truth. I rather hear the painful truth than sweet lies and that everything is pronto.

1 pointI don't know if it's a priority but since there will be hunting in the game, I would like to have hunting trophies for my collecting/trophy room. I would like to have a deer head on the wall with... I don't know a bear skin rug all that jazz. - Maybe even other trophies other than hunting. Chess Tournament, Paintball, Shooting, the list goes on - I would like a thing where we could put flags in our room(B.D.T.R. represent), and be able to put like cuts or jerseys in frames aswell to add onto it.
-
1 pointNo. There are three modules, a beta, then the final game. If you make a donation that is $30+, you will receive access to the game, the module, and the beta, plus other bonuses depending on your donation level. The first module is Town Square, which will focus on player housing and other minor interactions. The next one is the SWAT module, which will focus on combat. The next is the racing module, which will focus on driving mechanics. Then the beta, then the game. Expect the Town Square module in the next couple of months. Some links below will provide you with some more information, and feel free to contact me for any info!

1 pointyeah but he also suggested they should just include the beta access to the cheapest package so I was making clear to him that if that would happen the price for the cheapest option would go up

1 pointWelcome to the community, nice to see someone as excited as me despite the long wait.

1 pointSeemed really unique business idea, sad to see that it might not be a thing, if you ever need any help with business ideas throw me a PM my brain is always available. Good luck with future endeavours.
-
1 pointYup I talked to beach more about it, for now I am just going to leave this business aside and sort of abandon it, I'm assuming it's going to be very user friendly which means it's close to impossible to make a business like this. For now though I am hoping to wait until the game is launched and take a look a closer look at exactly how players can make websites, so for now, its back to brainstorming

1 pointFull agreement. I've been saying this stuff for awhile now - as a fellow indie developer, I think dev to playerbase communication is imperative! Organization is important as well. Consistency. And transparency.

1 pointThe missing arms and legs was a product of using our development client and isn't a bug to fix. The cafe isn't planned to open at release, nor is the tattoo shop. They'll be shortly after. We've shown the apartments in depth, so that wasn't a focus. You can find that video on YouTube. As for the combat video we showed, keep in mind that we're developing Identity in full. Some core features aren't in the Town Square, and it's not usually the same people working on those areas. You'll notice that area had less polish than the soon-to-be-released Town Square because it had less focus at this time
-
1 pointThey are a new company, they are learning as they go. This is their first game as a team. If that scares you, then don't pledge. But if you believe in this game, and these Devs then show them some support!
-
1 pointIf this is supposed to be based off of the United States, and revolve around the USD, so I don't see them implementing uniforms from other countries purely for the sake of looking different. Even though the uniforms of PD/FD/EMS look very similar, they're usually easily distinguishable, so I don't see this as being a problem. I am also not a huge fan of the jumpsuit look, too much to get in the way - tac pants and a polo shirt are plenty, plus the vehicles and equipment will look far different.
