Well, the Town Square Module is almost done. There are only four things needed to be put into the module, and all 4 of them are in testing. All I can say is...we did it. We have almost finally survived our long wait of one day being able to get a in person look at this very promising game. Hopefully, our expectations are met, and maybe, they might be broken beyond them. Who knows? The time is coming upon us to get a much further glimpse of what this game is to come. And weather you are new to this forum, or were here from the kickstarter… Thank you, for helping make this game the best it can be. The glory days have almost come.

As of 30 minutes ago all tasks have been completed and are now in testing. How long do you guys think? Hopefully the wait is finally over this weekend, because how long can it take to test right? OMEGALUL.

Doesn't matter, I prefer that they are taking their time so everything is going to work perfect or as intended.

I think it would really benefit the forum community if a thread was created solely for all the "this game is a scam" "Not working on the game" "Waste of time" topics and haters, so they can all congregate and circle jerk on each other instead of filling up the rest of the community with their pathetic pessimism and lack of realistic understanding of how shit works.

It's been two days, things are still getting worked on. It's not that big of a deal, it will be ready when it's ready.

I don't see why people have to complain. I know 30$ might seem like a lot of money to some people. The thing is if this game at the slimmest chance is a scam because it isn't then you only lose 30$ if you donated more but want to complain that's a you problem and no one wants to hear it. For the active ones on the forum we see this stuff a lot if not every time we attempt to browse the forums. Can people like this stop posting stuff and get a forum suspension? Cause i'm sick of these posts its obnoxious.

There's never been a more exicting time for the Identity development team than right now. We're growing from a small team of passionate and skilled developers into a true studio with real development horsepower. Asylum Entertainment's New Home Identity is being produced by a very small team, although with our new office (see above) we're on a hiring craze and expanding in a big way. In fact, our programming team is going to be three times larger by the end of September. That's only the tip, too, as we're also bringing in a full-time dedicated community manager so that you get the regular updates from the team which you deserve. Our art team is also expanding with some of the most incredible talent in the industry. It pains us that Identity has seen delays; we truly want the game in your hands as soon as possible. With our modest team it's been a difficult road but, with the great help of yourself and other backers, it's full-steam ahead. Once we're situated in our new office (we get the keys in one week) and your new community manager is ready to go, it's our intention keep this great community in constant contact with the team! New in the Town Square If you've been watching closely on the IdentityRPG Twitch Channel, which is live for a Q&A with the developers every Tueday through Thursday, you've seen a lot of art these last few weeks. From concept art to screenshots and clothing, below are just a few of the pieces we've shown, plus something new for good measure. We're really pushing the development streams now, too. You'll be able to watch environment artist Antoine at work Wednesday, August 30 at 1PM EST. Moving forward, we're going to try to give you at least one development stream every single week. Watch Twitter for announcements. Town Square Clothing Store Remember the clothing store concept art we showed last month? This in-game screenshot shows how concept translates to reality (minus the actual clothing). Another new addition, ambiant radio, brings this scene to life. When you walk into this clothing store you'll notice music playing from the speakers. It's not just music in our game, either, it's real streaming radio playing songs you know. Different stores can now play ambiant music that matches their style and enhances immersive atmosphere. Ash Hill Police HQ Concept The Ash Hill police station will open it's doors in the Town Square module shortly after its release. Seen above is the concept for the lobby, locker room (where players "sign in" as an officer) and the shooting range. The shooting range will be available in the Town Square to give you a feel for weapons in Identity before you get your hands on the SWAT module. Ash Hill Barber Concept While a large variety of player customizations will be available during your initial character creation, some options are reserved for locations in the world. Barber shops, like the Ash Hill Barber you'll find in the Town Square shown above, will have additional hair options; other shops around the land will present different styles. Some rarer character customization options may be unlocked through gameplay achievements. A peak at pledge rewards Below are concept pieces of the pledge rewards you may already own. Our new website, almost ready to go, will bring new options while some of the existing will no longer be available. Pledge Reward Concepts -- John VanderZwet

Born in the late 70s in the Heartland of England to a normal family a mother who stopped work when her kids were born. A father who worked hard in a dead end job to Support and bring up his family. A older brother who studied and worked went to a good school and did well entered a job that pays and raised a family of his own. Des was always different the black sheep struggled at school always a social outcast quick to anger but controlled enough to never lose it and attack others. He attained his Basic education not really doing great at anything but not doing poorly either. He found school difficult hard to mix with others and not understanding why they were taught that way. He was not stupid but the education system failed him. He always had a respect and admiration for the armed forces growing up watching films of Vietnam, TV shows of soldiers and documentaries all this had shown him that these were men to be admired and to aspire to. As well as this from somewhere he felt a need to pay back what he felt he owed to the Country for raising him, he enlisted as soon as he was able. Wanting to push and prove himself worthy he joined the famous Parachute Regiment completing tours of Kosovo and Iraq before pushing himself to his limits applying and successfully complicating training to join Special forces he did two tours of Afghanistan. Fighting taliban and insurgents. Having lost brothers and friends he decided it was time to leave. On discharge Des was disheartened with the calls the government had made the way they had used and abandoned the forces. He took some jobs trying to find his place in society but always finding the same thing incompetence and selfishness in the management. For the the first time ever Des lost it, nearly beating to death, a manager who had chosen his words poorly about the army. Decision forced upon him he packed up got a boat out of Liverpool and headed to find the American dream With a few thousand in cash and nothing else, Des brought a bike and some leathers and took of searching for somewhere to call home. Traveling the country meeting with other people, Des tried to find something to quiet the anger the betrayal of all he fought for, a brotherhood, all he found was a society broken selfish, no brotherhood just people out for themselves. Arriving in a bar outside of Roseport, Des saw some bikes parked outside as he stepped inside and his eyes adjusted as he saw some rough looking guys with skulls sown on the back of their leather cut offs. The bar was a typical off road bar smelling of stale beer and cigarette smoke ,the gloom of the bar felt almost welcoming. Des sat down and bought a beer whilst looking around, he noticed outside the window, a van roll up several guys jumped out and started heading for the bar with bats, wrenches and pipes. The hairs on the back of his neck started standing up, Des had that familiar burst of adrenaline and a little fear something was about to happen. The guys with the skulls noticed the others as they walked in, before the blink of a eye, a brawl started beer glasses and fists flying. As Des sat drinking his beer watching the fight the newcomers started to take the upper hand. He saw the guys wearing skull cuts, doing their best to defend and protect each other but losing ground. Without really knowing why, yet seeing something in that group fighting for each other, Des stood before one of the newcomers, a quick punch to the throat crushed the newcomers trachea dropping him, and quickly putting down a one of the other newcomers with well placed bottles and fists, the skulls patched group soon rallied and cleared the rest. As Des returned to the bar to grab a fresh beer one of the skulls approached him. Thanking him for the assistance he told him of a bar he should follow them to and have a drink at. As the skull patched group left, Des noticed the wording above the patch “Apaches” and decided to follow them to the new bar for a drink. (its been along time since I wrote a history. I’m dyslexic so please excuse the spelling and grammar mistakes. FYI I am ex British airborne forces the service is very close to my own. )

Hey Guys, I thought I would share with you a little guide I designed a few years ago for businesses in Arma 3 Life. It's a simple business model that worked pretty well. It's more or less an algorithm for any business you choose to make. It allows for your employees to be paid, and will minimize them breaking off for sole profit. It is purposely written so that anyone can understand. --------------- Business Model System This is the business model system for maximum efficiency for any business. This model uses a percentage based pay and is designed to be easily modified and easily implemented. Here is the Key for the following guide: A- Overhead (This is the money you need to cover your expenses) B- Profit (This is the money you make after your initial investment has been covered) C- Employee Payroll (This is the money for you to pay your employees) D- Investors Payroll (This is the money to pay your investors) ----------------- Generally speaking you need to arrange all of your investors payroll and your employee payroll to only come from your profits. It is important to remember what your total investment is, your profit, and your payroll. Be sure that you keep an eye on your finances. This is an example of the business model: Your total Overhead (A) is $1000 You have one investor, who has invested $1000 into your business in exchange for 5% of your profit (B). This places a $20,000 valuation on your company. You have one employee plus yourself. Your employees and investors make 5% of your profits. From 100% of your profit (B), you now owe 10%, which leaves you with 90% of your profit. Your profit is $5000. This means that $250 goes to your investor, $250 goes to your employees. 90% of your profit or $4500 is now left over. You invest $2000 into your Overhead this time. You have the same amount of investors. Your company's valuation is still only $20,000. You have gained another employee plus yourself. You have banked $2500. If your profit from a $1000 investment was $5000, this means you made $6000 from the total investment. In turn you expect to make double because of your investment of $2000. This puts you at a $10,000 profit. 5% of $10,000 is $500. You pay your employees $500 and your investor $500. This leaves you with a total of $9000 profit. This algorithm is a progressive system. You do not have to pay any specific percentage, I was simply explaining the math with the easy percentages. ---------------- Q: Why would someone work for me, if they could make the same amount as me? A: Your employee pays no overhead, he uses your equipment, he uses your services, he uses your resources. He has no risk involved. If he is robbed, it is not his money he is losing. (Or She). Also, your employee will scale with more employees and more profit. Whereas if he were to do it all on his own, he would make the same singular profit without the ability to scale, unless he were to create his own company. (Or She). Not to mention, you could promote the employee to making more of a percentage. Q: Why not split the profits evenly? A: You can do that! Except you do need to take out your next expenses before dividing up the profit. Always cover your next venture. Q: Why bank the money? A: The reason for banking your money is insurance. If you are robbed, or an expensive piece of equipment is lost, stolen, or broken, you need to be able to cover those expenses. You pay yourself, the same amount as you pay your employees. You bank the remainder for upgrades and incidentals. Q: Is this the only system that works? A: Heavens no. There are many different systems that work, this is just an easy one to start with until you get your feet wet. ----------------------- Should you have any questions, or anything you would like to add to this guide (Business Model) please reply and leave a comment.

Right this post needs locking, I'm fed up to high hell of getting email notifications about this thread, right we get it there are plenty of whinging little b******s complaining about a game they've been pledged to for a few months. Get the f**k over it and grow a pair of balls, game development takes a long time and this game will be out when it is so stop whining and get a life. If these posts keep coming up I'll be requesting the mods to step in because I'm fed up of every other post being some whining little t**t going on about the same thing the other 100+ posts do. I have a big passion for this game as much as most of us here do but my f*****g god I'm bored to death of whining little kids going on and on about it.

I shall be devising a poll regarding the type of businesses that one intends to produce within Identity Island. The poll shall be divided into three different categories: 1. Raw Materials 2. Manufactured Goods 3. Services A "Raw-Material"-oriented company focuses on producing the raw materials that shall be sold to a manufacturing company. For example: 1. Oil 2. Gold 3. Diamonds 4. Animal Hides 5. Crops (Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers etc...) 6. Unprocessed raw meat (land animals or sea creatures) 7. Iron or Steel etc... A "Manufactured Goods"-oriented company focuses on producing manufactured items from raw materials. For example: 1. Fuel/Gasoline 2. Gold jewelry 3. Diamond jewelry 4. Leather jackets 5. Hamburgers, hot-dogs, fish-fillet, tacos etc... 6. Vehicles 7. Furniture etc... A "Services"-oriented company focuses on selling services to the public. For example: 1. Security Firm 2. Law Firm 3. Telephone Service Provider etc.... If 2 out of 3 of these markets do not apply to you, then select "Does not Apply" within the poll. One should also disclose the business within this topic considering that I currently cannot even fathom the countless amount of innovative and creative ideas that individuals possess for a business. Thank you very much for your assistance.

We have something in common. I'm very sick of it. Sick of the dev lies and keeping everyone in the dark. Nothing like being 4 months past the original ts release and not even having an ETA. Pretty annoying and obnoxious.

Jesus what is it with people being whiny little weiners? I'm going to straight up tell you to either quit being a little bitch or go get a refund because you're a little bitch. Funny how it's always the same formula, some whining asshat wants to complain about something that's got 1000+ posts where people complain about the same things everyday ?? If people really have a massive problem then walk away it's not hard, but alas they'll use the same line of " but I want this game to succeed" well if you want it to succeed then shut the f**k up and stop giving us ear ache

The Module got delayed from the release date, it is a delay. it happened, it happens in games, they are unavoiable unless you want to release a unfinished buggy mess. In testing includes different methods of testing the things, Recreating a bug , then adding code / fixing the bug, then testing again to see if it happens anymore, also fixing 1 bug could create more bugs.

okay so what you are saying is you would rather have the first module ASAP and then wait ages again for the next module? By putting people on other tasks the modules will release closer to each other. and they never 'promised' anything, they gave an estimated release date, not an official one. This argument is not silly, its factual and factual arguments are the only good ones... where are your arguments if mine are so bad? and lastly there are a lot of people who have been waiting since 2014 and are still patiently waiting, take an example to them and wait.
  22. 1 point
Are u serious? They are months out of the clock for release and "- The last couple tasks obviously take longer since there are fewer people working on these, most of the developers have been assigned other tasks having to do with the other modules."? Seems like best idea ever, let's make stuff for later and leave module that we promise months ago. Never heard more silly argument than this one. They should have crunch now, sweating in the studio to finish town square ASAP, yet I can see "final" 6 tasks for about month now.

When you do start hiring, will you take your drivers through a training process in order for them to know the layout of the city and drive safely? Because I don't want to hop on a bu and than be taken on a joyride through the city to my destination. It would make me feel very unsafe.

A visual feast! As we approach the release of the Town Square, it's time to start showing off! Identity's gameplay is unique; there's no game in the world which accomplishes what we've set out to create and as a result, this will be one of the most immersive gaming experiences available. In some senses, graphics weigh heavily on environmental immersion and we've really started to show Identity's beauty in this last week. Last week, we did a short live stream on Twitch to show off the Town Square in motion. If you weren't there for the stream, check out the details below. Ash Hill Cinema ticket booth In addition to Identity's artistic beauty, we also want to show you what the base gameplay will be like in the Town Square. We do plan on doing another stream shortly where we'll move on into the interiors and interact with some of the features you'll find when you log into the Town Square. We'll have to mute the karaoke and streaming radio elements for Twitch and YouTube, though. I really do wish we had more time in our last stream but we were an hour late getting the stream started and what was meant to be a 10 minute display ended up being half an hour long. Half of that time was spent in character creation, so if that's of any interest to you be sure to check out the stream. I'll leave the video below. Ash Hill's Town Square in early morning Ash Hill's Town Square at night With our next gameplay stream, I'd really like to show off the Town Square at night. Check out the screenshot above to see why I feel that night in Identity has an incredible atmosphere. Night will be useful in Identity too; for example, some animals will be more active when the sun goes down. Just imagine running from (or with) the cops in the dark of night! A beautiful and well-designed environment makes great gameplay even better. Ash Hill's fruit and vegetable market As you can tell by now, I went a bit overboard taking screenshots of the Town Square environment. I'm so proud with what our art team has accomplished, so you're getting a handfull with this developer blog! The market seen here is in the Town Square, although it won't be the only food market in Ash Hill. Markets play a fairly important role, and not only for your own access to food. Gathering and growing food will be a safe and reliable way to make some money in Identity. It doesn't require any sort of investment, so it's one of your options for making a living the moment you step foot in the world. It will get much easier with a vehicle, though. RIDE bicycle shop The screenshot above is from the interior of the bicycle store you'll find in the Town Square. You won't be able to buy them right away, but once we start implementing our final vehicles we'll likely unlock the bikes in the Town Square, too. Bicycles will be an important tool in Identity. If you can't afford a vehicle (they're not cheap) then they're your best option for getting around town without dishing out cash for a cab. Ash Hill Tattoo interior My final screenshot today was the interior of the tattoo shop you'll find in the center of Ash Hill, and thus the Town Square. Hidden in the back of the parking lot behind the DMV, this parlor will be opening shortly after the Town Square release. Tattoos in Identity are either paid for or earned; some tattoos are only unlocked with achivements, most of which being for less than legal actions. Tattoos aren't available during character creation and must be gotten through a shop such as this. Town Square gameplay live stream YouTube Town Square preview stream If you missed our live stream of Town Square gameplay last week, click on that big image above to check it out now. If your email client is afraid and you don't see the images, you can always click here. I spent the first while creating a character and then took a quick look around the exterior of the Town Square environment. I can't wait to show more! The tasks at hand Our new task tracker has been one of the most well received additions we've ever released, and it's very easy to see why. As the Asylum developers continue to knock out tasks daily, we're getting very, very close to allowing you all into the Town Square. As of my writing this, only 3 primary tasks remain and are already in progress. The tracker is showing only Town Square tasks, although many of those in our team (who don't have anything left for the Town Square release) are already hard at work producing SWAT module content. It won't be long before you start seeing a lot of our SWAT efforts appearing, and I'm extremely excited to give you more information on how it'll play. Keep your eyes on the tracker, as it will continue (even after Town Square release) to be the best indicator of when you can get your taste. A quick thank you to our supporters We've been working hard to create the game that can, quite seriously, affect the entire MMORPG industry. Nothing like Identity has been done before, mostly because a game of this scale is a risky project for any established studio. It is because of you receiving this update, our pledgers and supporters, that our dreams and ambitions are becoming a reality. The ultimate RPG is on the horizon, and I'm so very grateful to the wonderful community around me. Again, I just want to say thank you as I sincerely appreciate your support. You're helping to create a game which thousands, who don't even know we're here yet, will come to enjoy. You're here on the ground floor. The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. We also use that time to answer almost every question that gets asked about Identity's development and gameplay. Now that we've been doing this a while, we've answered a lot of questions. Our awesome community manager, BeachBall, has taken the time to compile a massive list of questions linked to clips where they're answered by a developer. Get comfy and head over to the Twitch Clips Directory forum thread. If you haven't found this already, be prepared to spend a good bit of time listening to all sorts of awesome information. This is the best place to get to know the fine details Identity! -- John VanderZwet
