Initially a struggling portrait artist, D. Marlboro began his career capturing the character of Ash Hill’s most lively citizens. Rarely getting paid for the pleasure however, he reluctantly turned his hand to forging fine art. His attention to detail and undeniable natural ability quickly made him successful and with this success came money, more money than he had ever dreamed of making as an artist. With the money however came pressure, pressure to churn out forgeries, pressure to perform, pressure to undertake more lucrative cons like counterfeiting…his small cosy studio quickly became more and more like a sweatshop with deadlines, backlogs, angry (and dangerous) customers. Coping poorly, and as many of the creatively inclined do, he turned to the bottle, and then, to various other…substances. This dependency quickly overtook him, driving him further from the artistic expression he cherished and pursued initially and culminated in a severe case of writer’s block. Unable to summon the energy to meticulously scour over and reproduce the more popular workings of the grand masters, his debt began to mount exponentially and it quickly became obvious something needed to be done. Being all too aware of the value of art (real and fake)and with his contacts in both the artistic community and black-market he figured he could flip an original painting or two for a tidy profit, pay off his debt and escape the criminals he had inadvertently fallen in with. The challenge however was doing this without any capital. A cheap plastic party mask and an old, rusted unreliable shotgun later he had pulled off what the press described as a ‘strong arm robbery’ but in reality was much more like a hectic smash and grab. Regardless, a new bug had bitten; he no longer craved the chemical highs but the massive and natural adrenaline rush which comes post heist. The arm full of paintings he had secured from his first job where enough to cover his debt and buy his freedom. Finally free but with only a couple thousand dollars to his name he retired the old shotgun replacing it with a much more manageable and reliable .45 pistol, replaced his plastic party mask with a non-descript black ski mask and began planning his next hit. It wasn’t long before the target of his heists became irrelevant and he branched out from galleries into local shops and businesses and eventually into the realm of banks and the ever more challenging stash houses of drug dealers and criminals who had harassed and threatened him in the not so distant past… Thoughts, feedback appriciated!

To draw in millions of players in the USA, cut a deal with the Power 5 NCAA broadcast partners to live stream games at a special town theater screen. Players will pay $10 (real cash via a pay now button) to enter, half goes to Identity, half to the broadcasters. A search for "Ohio State "will tell you when to show up to see the game with other Ohio State fans!!! A search for "Alabama" will do the same etc. It will be like a virtual tail gate party!! All fans must agree that if they enter as a troll it only takes three votes by others in the theater to evict you with no refund. Eventually you can build stadiums and sell out a 300 person section at the 50 yard line or half court line. The game can be time delayed and virtually recreated in 3D!

Opinions are opinions. They’re not facts, and they’re definitely not right or wrong. In this community, I see a lot of support in different ways. You have those who are 100% positive and those who criticize but nevertheless back the game up. Both of these forms are pefectly fine. Support is support, just like opinions are opinions. At the end of the day, we both have the same goal. We all want this game to succeed and we all have supported and most of us pledged to help the devs. We’re all on the same team. I’d like to thank both sidees of this support, especially the critics because I feel they have recieved a little less love and a little more heat. Critics are important, they help you see your mistakes so you can fix them, even if they don’t sound the kindest, they still have the best intentions.

Well said !!! Critiques and opinions, bad or good are necessary for every company as long as they stay constructive and healthy. There where a lot of topics which are absolutely understandable but also where not constructive at all. A lot of pledgers / backers feeld cheated or betrayed because of various reasons. The thing is this happens all the time not only with Asylum. Investing carries always risks and everybody investing should be aware of this. Investing does not entitle you to anything, only to what you or everybody pledged for nothing else. As long as progress is made and the project not officially canceled us pledgers should be supporting them in every way. Critiques and opinions are absolutely necessary, but they should always be constructive and healthy. Everything else does not help and hurts the community. I also would never go so far and say turns out some people were wrong, because this are also backers / and pledgers like anybody else and they are also allowed to express their opinions, critiques and feelings like anybody whom pledged / backed.

You summed up my whole mindset. I totally support and am extremely hyped for the game, but I have criticized it before and been told i was “wrong”. Criticism is a part of everyday life, it helps push us to greater heights. While it may seem annoying or bothersome, it helps analyze your flaws and tune them. I think thats why its called constructive criticism. If you spot a troll, just don’t reply, but if you tell someone they’re wrong because you disagreee with their point of view, you’re not getting anywhere. Critics are a huge aspect of games, they inform the devs on their areas of improvement. While it may not always seem they’re trying to help the game, you shouln’t shut them down because they’re doing it in a different way than you. Just my two cents! All love.

Thanks for that mate I love how you guys answer all questions its refreshing, since money will be realistic and prices of things etc will be as well, I'm trying to figure out if its worth it doing the $100 pledge and having the studio apartment etc with the motorbike since an apartment will be very expensive, also with these pledge bonuses are they always with your account no matter what public server you go to? I assume in a private server you won't obviously have the pledge items? Cheers

    1. Yes it will be connected to steam. 2. You will get a steam key via email when the either the 1st Module releases or when the full game comes out. This depends whether you pledged $15 or $30+ If you pledged $30 or more then you will get the steam key when the 1st Module is available, otherwise if you only pledged $15 then you will get the game at full release. Also when the steam key is sent to you via email, you will also see the key in your store account's profile. Hope this helps, Best Regards, LuckyDuck.

I think it is important to keep in mind, that while some people were just trolling, there were people (including me), who have criticized the game but still support it. I don't understand why people think that someone who says something bad about a game means they hate it, don't support it, or want it to fail. I played Altis for years, I was a part of the Blackwing community, and I have missed it for so long, so I am extremely hyped for Identity, but I am still going to give my opinions, good or bad, on what is being done, in the hope to help the devs and give them feedback. The devs were very bad at communicating, I don't think anyone was or is wrong with this criticism, and guess what, the devs listened and put out a tracker. That possibly would have never happened if people did not give the devs feedback on their bad communication with the community. I am excited for the game, and while I will be waiting until full launch to play, I really hope the devs can make something amazing, but if half of the community gets flamed or told they are "wrong" because they have criticisms or problems with the game, development may not be as good as what it could be. An artist who is told he is the best day one will never stride for better achievements, the artist who was told he was nothing will fight and work until the day he has achieved better than the best. In the end, I think it is important to allow criticism, don't call people "wrong" because they gave feedback and now the devs are listening and changing things. If anything, these are the people you should thank for getting a tracker, or better communication, or more features in game, along with the devs. With all that being said, there are of course trolls and I am not including them, criticism is fine, but it has to be legit, not just saying this game sucks, but explaining why you think that is and how it can be fixed.

How about that for starters? Their reasons are totally valid. And sure, while it may be your opinion. When you're putting it online for everyone to read. You're also putting it out there for criticism. With the example above, you could say those reasons are your personal opinion. But you know, in the end, there are people bound to not realize that, and that's when you start spreading misinformation and, in the end, only hurting the game more than helping it. I'm sorry if somehow you had a hard time reading my message, but NO WHERE DID I SAY THAT. lol. I literally said they had a lot of time and money. That's seriously a plain fact that you can't argue. Let's look at what you actually said: Here, you state, "They must pf REALLY overestimated their capability of getting things done.". In other words, you're presenting something you don't know about, as if you do. "For a small team with such a big budget there's no reason they couldn't expand themselves even more (hiring more people that is).", and here, you assume you know their budget. Sure, we know how much they've raises so far. That's nowhere near to knowing their budget, as in all the income, and expenses. "By the last month/month and a half they got $100,000 more donations that could hire two or one very experienced dev.", and here you're stating they could just hire one or two 'experienced' developer. You may not have said "I'm suggesting I know better.", but you certainly implied it. So wow. Where to start? Let start with: Any developer can predict how long a task can take. He or she should know from prior experience how long it takes to get a task done. For example, an animator knows how long it takes himself/herself to get one animation done. Due to unexpected errors which has happened a lot lately, it would make sense to add a few days or a week to that time frame to prepare for it. For the rest of the stuff, short term job? What are you even talking about? lol. Little pay? Still what are you talking about? Also the last part still . . . what are you talking about? "A task done.", yes. Totally agree. Makes sense. If they know from experience. But now we're talking about thousands of tasks, over a long period of time since even before they announced the first release date. For such a small team, with as @Xzothi pointed out, with varying degree of experiences. And I'm assuming a short term job, with little pay. You have to think, and plan long-term. You can't spend all your money on bringing on more expensive developers right away. I'm by no means an accountant, or good with money on my personal use. But even I see the long-term implications. Yeah they got even more money. lol. I honestly don't know where you're going with that. Relativity speaking, it's not that much. Again, you have to think long term. A couple of thousands each month, won't get you that long. Let's say, for sake of argument. That money stopped coming in, right now. And, their monthly expense was 8,000$ USD, for example. Their current amount would only last for about 24 months, 2 years. Dude seriously. Websites do cost a good amount of money, but they don't hundreds of thousands of dollars. Software can cost up to $10,000, and even more, but some of which doesn't need to be bought or has cheaper alternatives. Yep office space does cost money. I would hope they get paid. I'm sure there is. See my previous point. The website was just an example. And one that I had looked into personally, because I was interested in the forum software. In conclusion, the only thing I have no idea about is some of the things you said. So some more explaining can help. I hope this clears some things up for you? A survey I did expresses that a good majority of the community (at least from those who voted which was a lot) believe the game devs are not telling the truth with what they're doing and the majority expects them to at least give a lot more detailed explanations for the delays. So I'm not the only one that thinks this and you saying so makes your whole argument invalid. Ever played FarCry 4? It's like that. It's a cult that's starting to form on the forum, because people don't know any better. And because of threads like these. Sure, there's a lot the devs could do to get more information out there. But there's also a lot the people could do to just research a little on their own, and find more information. And not just the misinformation and slander that's spreading in the General topic. Which is what people are seeing. Which literally and clearly shows just how many tasks that had to be done that the game devs would of never been able to complete on original release date and the first delay. You pretty much countered this point yourself earlier: They had a list of items that needed to be done. They thought they could get it in within the time frame. They didn't on both account, and are now using a different system. Keeping us in the loop of what is going on from a day to day basis. Then by all means, come up with a better idea. I for one, think the Dev Tracker is a better idea than an arbitrary release date.

Ok so i've sat and read the entire 10 pages on this thread this afternoon (secretly at work) so as not to ask repeated questions that have been answered over and over. I read that in the Town Sq Beta you wouldn't be able to earn money is that correct, if so how would you quire in game funds etc?
  34. 1 point
There won't be any jobs or currency for Module 1 Town Square. These will all come either in the Beta or Full Release. I believe recreation drugs will be added in later updates but not on day 1, but don't quote me on that. The Town Square though is really just.. well, a town square. You can walk around and interact with players as well as do activities such as painting, singing in the karaoke bar, book writing, watching movies, customizing your apartment, etc. The outsides of the Town Square will be closed off with construction equipment to keep everyone inside while still looking nice and pretty. You don't just see the map cut off all goofy looking. As for murder, the police will know right away when you kill a player. But they will have to catch you to actually arrest you. Of course, nothing like this will be in the Town Square though.
