    So basically a lot of people said this game was gonna flop right after the failed April 23rd release of the Town Square and the community was going to die. I am here to say those people were wrong. I have never seen the community more active. I love how we are all fighting for the devs and we are loving every time the tasks get updated. Thanks Community. You guy are what helps the game live on!!

    Step inside my office! We're in the home stretch, now. The Town Square module is almost ready to go, and now you can follow the Asylum developers as we approach the release. Exactly two weeks ago we launched the new Identity Task Tracker; check out that link, or click the big green button on the Identity website. The task tracker shows you our progress from the point of release a couple of weeks ago until now, and we update every weekday. This tracker displays the data right out of our own project management software that we use to drive and organize the developers inside the studio. All tasks on the tracker are those that remained as of two weeks ago up to the point we consider the Town Square module to be ready for release. These are not all of the tasks we've done (there've been thousands), but just the ones remaining. I'm pretty proud of the progress our guys are making each day. It's only been a couple of weeks but you'll see the majority of those tasks are marked completed! It's really amazing what a team of this size can do when it has such talent. Keep your eye on the tracker; when our important tasks there are done it's time for a Steam release! We're all extremely excited over here. Town Square barber shop interior, work in progress The World Wide Wait An all new Identity website is very, very close to release. In fact, it's so close that we're only waiting on a technology partner to finalize their end of things. Our new website enhances the style of our existing site but is focused far more on improved functionality. A very robust new account system is in place to help you get in the game, and our new shop has some other big requested features! Finally, you'll be able to pay with dozens of methods (PayPal, credit cards, PaySafe and more) and even gift purchases to your friends. With the release of the new website also comes the return of the Identity Insider. The Insider will be a monthly detailed addition to the website, containing all sorts of information you may not have heard before and diving deep into a specific Identity gameplay topic. Our current pledge packages will remain on the website for only one week after the new website launches. After that, many of those rewards will never be sold again and those which are will be a bit more expensive as we prepare for retail pricing. Now's the time to join in the support of Identity's development if you have been on the fence! A look inside the Asylum Everyone at Asylum has been working like crazy. The poor guys are in overdrive and won't be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, just this last week we hired four new programmers to join the team, more than doubling the programmer team size, to ensure that we can get content to you faster. I've myself continued to put a lot of development hours in when I'm not busy with business stuff. I've added some interesting things in the last weeks including substance use and effects. You won't need to spend your time in the Town Square digitally sober! Mark, our graphic designer, has been taking his excellent art into the game engine with the creation of wallpapers for homes as well as a bunch of clothing options. I hoped to have a couple dozen cool wall options available to start with the Town Square release. When I looked over his shoulder today it was somewhere around 300. Wow, I can't even imagine the options when crafting decorations is introduced on top of that. We're pretty much ready to go on the art side of things. Those who follow us on Twitch will have seen Jade/Lee has finished will all of the housing floorplans and the final touches are being done to integrate them into the game today. A lot of our floorplans are based on pop-culture; see if you can identify them. You'll have the chance to walk through them in the Town Square to help with your home-buying decisions. Keep an eye on our Twitch streams! We're going to be showing some cool stuff quite soon. It's been a long wait for the Town Square release, but the wait is almost over. The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. We also use that time to answer almost every question that gets asked about Identity's development and gameplay. Now that we've been doing this a while, we've answered a lot of questions. Our awesome community manager, BeachBall, has taken the time to compile a massive list of questions linked to clips where they're answered by a developer. Get comfy and head over to the Twitch Clips Directory forum thread. If you haven't found this already, be prepared to spend a good bit of time listening to all sorts of awesome information.     I think it is important to keep in mind, that while some people were just trolling, there were people (including me), who have criticized the game but still support it. I don't understand why people think that someone who says something bad about a game means they hate it, don't support it, or want it to fail. I played Altis for years, I was a part of the Blackwing community, and I have missed it for so long, so I am extremely hyped for Identity, but I am still going to give my opinions, good or bad, on what is being done, in the hope to help the devs and give them feedback. The devs were very bad at communicating, I don't think anyone was or is wrong with this criticism, and guess what, the devs listened and put out a tracker. That possibly would have never happened if people did not give the devs feedback on their bad communication with the community. I am excited for the game, and while I will be waiting until full launch to play, I really hope the devs can make something amazing, but if half of the community gets flamed or told they are "wrong" because they have criticisms or problems with the game, development may not be as good as what it could be. An artist who is told he is the best day one will never stride for better achievements, the artist who was told he was nothing will fight and work until the day he has achieved better than the best. In the end, I think it is important to allow criticism, don't call people "wrong" because they gave feedback and now the devs are listening and changing things. If anything, these are the people you should thank for getting a tracker, or better communication, or more features in game, along with the devs. With all that being said, there are of course trolls and I am not including them, criticism is fine, but it has to be legit, not just saying this game sucks, but explaining why you think that is and how it can be fixed.

    Isnt a bug essentially something you don't understand or didn't intend on happening? It's very hard explain something you cant understand or never intended to do until you've figured ot out and resolved it. I also don't think the Dev's want to take time out of their day to post about temporarily broken features when they could be focusing on the issue and resolving it so we can all get our hands on TS. I don't think this is about transparency I just think IMO that talking about bugs all day would be soul destroying. Who honestly (outside of constructive critisim) wants to focus on the negative aspects of their job when there's so much positive...

    Javascript HTML5 web applications would be pretty easy to support being loaded into the in-game web-browser and it's one of the most common / easy to pickup languages making it a perfect option for creating rich and fun new software apps that could be sold on an in-game App Store. This creates the opportunity for players with that kind of background to build out new features into the game that would otherwise take a long time for the dev team to get around to and also gives them a way to earn in game currency. Expansions - API to interact with other in game systems like the stock market, bank, shops, factories, phone GPS, security systems etc. - Live linking to real externally hosted (Approved) web applications further increasing immersion and crossing the bridge between in game and reality. Essentially I would think it'd be neat to have an in-game editor for building these, but lets face it, if people are allowed to create applications like this, most are going to use an external setup and just spit out a minified javascript bundle, copy the code and paste into the in game editor to spin up their web applications... which isn't a bad thing really as it saves the hassle of building a fancy IDE in game.

    Can you the devs tell us what is in Programming and Bugs, that are in the sections that need to be done and are in progress. You told us what was in Art, why can't you tell us whats in that. You guys said you were going to be transparent. Not Hating just wondering why you haven't or cant.

    Hi peeps! I've known of the game for some time (found it just a little after the kickstarter ended so I couldn't back it as a kickstarter. bummer!) and I lurked (yes, lurked. Without an account or anything...I just....lurked)....in the forums for some odd years (i can't remember the number of years now!). Finally bought a package after much rolling around (I'm one of those peeps that waits to the last minute to do everything). Posted some time in 2017 to ask about deadline for buying a package. Fast forward to May 2018, I've finally bought a package. Not too sure what I want to do in this game or what it holds for me, but I'm very excited to find out...or at least figure out what I want to do. I do know that I want to enjoy a peaceful, natureish life (question: which makes me wonder if I can become a homeowner with little chickens running around but moving on from that). Although, the fast life of crime and detective work does fascinate me (clearly, I've watched too much of the Blacklist, NCIS, etc...). Okay enough rambling from me. Just posting that I've come aboard and I'm excited to try it out (once it comes out). Ah yes and I'm a quite shy person in real life (seeing as I lurked for a long time...) so if we ever meet in game...I'm one awkward and shy potato.

    No. Town Square wont have guns or driving. But when the game comes out people need to understand there is a bit of an RP aspect to he game it self. If you shoot people the cops will come after you. Thats the thing that is great about the game. It is people with common sense who have the jobs. Cops will be smart and have to follow code. Also Identity is going to be wayyyy more free than gta believe. You can get a job and much much more!!!

    That's a missed opportunity I think, doesn't encourage players to paint anything other than phalles tbh! With a slightly more robust system you could have some serious competition among the artists and actually make it a viable profession and very unique aspect of the game. People will want to decorate their businesses and homes and fine art and portraits are a great way to do that aswel as expressing wealth, support and appriciation. No import means all artworks will be custom which is a big plus IMO. Maybe it'll develop over time but I think its best suited to TS as painting and stockpiling artworks would be a great and productive way of killing time while we wait for the other modules. Anyways thanks for the info @subway244much appriciated.

    The point I was making is that the devs are doing the work and getting on with the job, sure some people may think programing and bug fixing is easy to explain, some people get it some people don't, we'll just have to agree to disagree etc. As long as the job is done I don't think it matters either.

    Actually most of the tasks could likely be explained in just a couple of sentences for each one. In fact, they most likely already have the tasks in a system like Trello with explanations of what the tasks are. Even if only a few people in the community would actually understand those brief descriptions (this is actually pretty unlikely as programming honestly isn't all that complicated to explain) those people would be able to explain to those that wouldn't understand. There is no reason to act like you're acting either. All the person that created the thread is doing is asking for more transparency, which the devs should be more than happy to provide.

    It is actually less detailed than MS Paint. Just basic sizes and colors. No image import for paintings. There will be galleries, and you can sell them. I am unsure about owning galleries. I paintings can not be stolen or reproduced by anyone else besides the creator, but if you were really wanted to reproduce a painting you didn't own you could attempt to re-draw it. Artworks will have the person's name, and it could be signed onto it. It will also be listed if the painting was in a list. You could attempt to make a living as a painter, but they would have to be pretty good drawings to make a profit if you were ONLY a painter, and had no other job.

    here's an idea, go give a presentation on something you know nothing about to an audience of 1000 people and see what happens. that's why the devs haven't said anything about programming and bugs because it's far easier to explain art than it is programming and bug fixing, and guarantee 95% of people here don't have experience in bug fixing and programming, it's not something you can explain in a few words. and rather than sitting here explaining every little detail the devs could be getting on with the work like they are now.

    The thing with me is, I get bored too quickly. I need variety of stuff to do, and I hope Identity will give me this. What I mean by it, I can't just be a criminal or police officer all the time. I need to switch between it from time to time or I'll just won't have fun. Do any of you guys feel like it too? Also, I can't wait to meet new people and cooperate with them to have the biggest fun in a videogame ever. This and opportunity to be a cop or a bandit in a massive world are two main reasons why I care about this game so much.
