I pledged one of the smaller amounts. Every single pledge is based on trust for the developer to actually make a game at the end of it. Some people who back games lose their money when it falls through and the game doesnt get made so its always been my ethos to never pledge more than you can afford to lose.

Hopefully this week, the new website is finished. They are just waiting on the payment people to get back to them so that the site will be able to accept credit cards.

@Olio @LuckyDuck @LightBringer @Cayn @Budbringer @HairyGrenade Just wanted to thank you for being here and keeping an eye on the forums you deserve a lot more thank you's than you get. You help out where necessary, you welcome everybody regardless where they come from, you keep the forums clean, you try to inform us in every situation as best as you can, you keep us believe and hope in this project, you motivate others. I know you do not have an easy task but you all do your job voluntary as much as I know of and you earned my gratitude and respect because this is not a job I would like to do. This is just a small list of many other things you do for us. And you deserve a lot more thank you's. Just my 2 cent

You are right as should you. Also I do care a lot about my money but I am aware that when I invest in to a project or stocks I also might lose. Most of the time I win and that is why I am not poor and can purchase, Invest into whatever I like to. You need to understand that this project could easily go down the drain and all of us lose everything. That's why I only pledge into projects if I can afford it and does nut hurt me if I lose.

You backed / invested a project you did not buy anything. I backed many games over this years. Many of them never got made for example The Mandate also lost 500 bucks there, and many more it does not matter. Thing is you are a investor nothing else and you might lose money. Look at my signature.

Exactly as @Cstove have said, I'll quote the moderator who quoted Beach_Ball about it: Cayn-Yesterday at 6:32 PM "we're still waiting on our payment service provider. We've left them several messages and voicemail yet no response, it would appear that they are the current bottleneck. We can't launch the new shop without it as we've been promising credit card payments forever with the new site." - Beach, today

There will still be things to do like: customize character, customize apartment, go to the bar and order drinks with friends, karaoke bar, play chess with Someone, paint pictures, meet new people. John said shortly after the release of TS they want to add in the gun range and tattoo parlor.

I am really not sure when it will get more features, even if it does. Don't loose interest, however. The other two modules and the beta will be here before you know it.

I actually was against the devs, thinking they were scamming us until Paratus responded to my criticisms. Completely changed my opinion of the whole thing. This is an early access game, and while I still think they should have done a lot differently, I am 100% with them now. They didn't give a new release for the TS module, which some people find annoying but I actually praise them for it. It is what they should have done in the first place, don't set yourself unrealistic deadlines. They completely deserved the hate they got for both delays, but they completely deserve some praise for not making the wrong decision again. I am back on the side of the devs.

Committed to the Asylum Wow, what a month. This has been the busiest, craziest month we've ever had at Asylum Entertainment and the hard work is really showing. Most of the guys here at the office have been putting in a lot of overtime hours to get the Town Square module ready as soon as possible. I myself have been working half my time as a programmer, tossing some cool new systems together. I really, really can't wait for everyone to see what we're putting together! For the past few days my personal pet project has been a total overhaul of the character control and animation system. We're working on getting new animations entirely, but it's amazing how much nicer character movement looks right now after some extra TLC. In the past Identity videos, you'll notice the camera is always locked behind your character and you rotate the character with the mouse. Now, movement is a little more like games such as Grand Theft Auto in which you can run toward the screen or parallel to it, too. If you're holding your forward run key/stick, it'll play like before. It really adds a much better sense of control. Alternatively, when you're in combat mode (weapons or melee), the view is again locked behind your shoulders. None of this applies to first-person view, of course. We've been putting a lot of time into polishing and enhancing character creation and customization in preperation for the Town Square launch. I wanted to share a screenshot to give you an idea of the extensive customization options available. You can control your gender, race, blemishes, hair and a ton of facial modifiers. You can select from a couple dozen pieces of clothing to start in, too, but most will have to be purchased at a shop. Character creation work in progress I've been waiting a very long time to see Identity in the state it is right now. We have a powerful new server making nightly builds for testing on Steam and everything is beginning to have that good polished feel you expect in a real, released game. There's still work to be done but it's an incredibly exciting time for us here. Sooner rather than later There are all sorts of features we want for the Town Square which were always planned to be added months after release. With art development moving at a faster pace than I ever anticipated it would, given the relatively tiny size of our team, it seems that we might be able to include some of these features sooner than I expected. Some of these features, which should be ready somewhat soon after Town Square is available, include tattoos, haircuts and even the shooting range. Tattoo shop (WIP) Tattoo design and development progress (WIP) A look inside the Asylum In keeping with our committment to transparency and open communication with the community, our new website will soon be launching (even before the Town Square). The new website will have all sorts of shop options for you to check out, but one of the more interesting aspects will be our development tracker. We're going to be showing you exactly where our development stands in regards to each milestone, such as the Town Square release. You're going to see live data showing what we're working on and how long we expect each element to take. Then, following the Town Square release we'll keep this going for each future development milestone. It'll sort of be like looking over our shoulders in the office yourself. The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. We also use that time to answer almost every question that gets asked about Identity's development and gameplay. Now that we've been doing this a while, we've answered a lot of questions. Our awesome community manager, BeachBall, has taken the time to compile a massive list of questions linked to clips where they're answered by a developer. Get comfy and head over to the Twitch Clips Directory forum thread. If you haven't found this already, be prepared to spend a good bit of time listening to all sorts of awesome information. This is the best place to get to know the fine details Identity! -- John VanderZwet

100% in. The same as every game I back. You back the idea and the project the idea spawns. If you don't want to back a project, you wait until it is released to buy it.

Noo, you can not be an animal lol. And you can't be a kid, all the characters are "adults". Now nothing is stopping you from RPing as a 15 year old however, but your character will look like all others.

As much as I dislike the delays and the hype I have for this game is so insane it's unreal and as much as the combination of the two does NOT go well together, I am 100% with them and the fact they don't repeat the same mistake and actually learn from past experiences of setting unrealistic deadlines like @JoelKeys said, actually makes me happy. In regards of the "grow the community", I'm sure I have done quite enough for the community as of right now, as there isn't much other than "so there's this future game...".

I'm exactly where I was when I first came across this game early last year, although that's not to say I'm 100% expecting this game to release and I never have been! I know how crowd funding works and that will be the same after the release of TS and up until full release. I however am not particularly worried about delays or the regression from release date to task bar (if I'm honest, I think that's probably the best thing the Dev's could have done IMO). I've backed and followed games which haven't had delays and failed dramatically. I've backed and followed games which have been plagued with issues and delays and been successful we all like to speculate but ultimately it comes down to the motivation of the Dev's and all this nonsense, second guessing and repition on the forums won't help. Will wait and see, but a good few of the community fail to understand is that there's an inherent risk in backing early and if it's not money you can afford to loose (or simply don't want to) don't pledge...just hold out and wait for the full release.

Im sure you will complain, but Im guessing you complain about a lot. If you pledge money then you must be prepared to lose it in the eventuality of it not working out. Its a gamble, so never afford to gamble more than you can afford to lose. In this case I think the devs are going to finish it. Its just taking a bit longer.
  19. 1 point
Yes there is money involved and yes I know it has been a long time but have you ever thought that perhaps the devs are new at this too. Its reasonable to assume that their deadline dates wouldnt be accurate if its their first bash at releasing a game. My personal opinion is if you pledge money for a company to develop a game then you should be prepared for this type of thing, especially delays. If you dont like it then perhaps you should have waited for the game to be fully finished and then purchased it. If you see your pledge as 'throwing money away' then maybe you shouldnt have pledged. What did you want? Did you want them to release it now? Ok they release it now then what? The very same people will be moaning about how buggy it is and how this dont work. People constantly moaning about it wont change the timeframe.

What your saying is true but if they’re going to promise something (regardless of their hours) they should get it done, I doubt it takes much work to update the tracke, but I don’t expect them to work 24/7.
  22. 1 point
It’s nice how active the community gets even with so few people. We should all hit a quota of one new person a week.

I didn't even realize that until a few hours ago

And what is your goal here? Dev’s will update however they like you can not change that. The only thing you have to accept is that you have no control over how they work and deliver us Square Town.

I know you've mentioned features that'll only be available in the full game. But worry not, Town Square will still have plenty of features to explore. You'll be able to visit some buildings, watch movies, sing at karaoke bar, throw popcorn at others, and some of the stuff that has been already mentioned. Also there will be more stuff as they will update Town Square daily.
  31. 1 point
There are no cars, countryside, or narcotics production. The Town Square is what it is, the Town Square. There could be more added later on after the release of the Town Square, but at launch day, expect just a literal Town Square. So yes, just walk around gameplay and testing some features.

I'm 100% with the game, always have been. I feel like if people are getting so worked up over the delays, they should just take a break and come back in a few months or so if it's really upsetting them that much. I was disappointed in the delays too and all, but I feel like constantly being negative and yelling isn't really being productive, nor is it going to change the fact that the TS has been delayed. I check the site every day and if the module is out that's great, but if it's not that's fine too. I just think people are making a mountain out of a molehill. To the people who think they should get some sort of extra item since the module hasn't come out yet, I feel like that's a bit of an entitlement issue. In my opinion, buying the pack that I did was more of a donation rather than an actual purchase. If people can't afford the game or are unsure about the legitimacy of this game, they should just wait until either it comes out or they have enough money where if this game doesn't come to light it's no big deal. I'd imagine it would be a lot less stressful buying a pack when you're 100% this is a real game and would prevent people from constantly pledging and then refunding. Just my two cents! I don't mean to offend anyone or anything this is all just my opinion. Can't wait for the module to come out!

For the modules, there won't be a server browser/menu. You will join a random server when you hit play or you join friends through steam.

Brilliant idea. If you need an in game photo-journalist I'm down, just hmu! Will happily cover gory crime scenes and tense shootouts!! Hope they have 'press' hat in game ??
  38. 1 point
Like I said before in another post, whoever "bought" a package simply made a donation, and they should have had prior knowledge to the fact that this is a game in-development, ergo there will be delays. You were not promised a release date, just given one. The devs and staff want you to enjoy this game, but would you rather get an unfinished program now, or wait a few months and then get a finished program? So no, this isn't just a way to keep the people going and giving them false hope. This is the game-development wagon, and delays are simply part of it.

I don't have any guns atm because I am too young. When I am older I do want to get my license for open carry and carry a colt .45. I shot a gun before and it was awesome but I don't see myself spending a whole lot of money on guns in the future.

You can purchase houses and rent them out, but plazas I believe no for renting out. Yes, you can start a and mass produce certain items, like clothing for example. Yes, you can have up to 3 characters. No, players can not make cars.

If the career is state-owned, for example, police or emergency services... there is no activity limit. When you do work, you get paid. However, if you are going to work in the private area of business, make sure your employees are aware of your activity limits and nothing should go wrong.

That would be interesting, but keeping your identity hidden as a hit-man would be problematic. Maybe a signature outfit comes into play that hides your personal identity but makes your criminal personality know to many. All sounds fun, but i wanna see the punishment if one were to be caught

It would be cool if you you sell things like graphics cards, cpu’s, and other things to upgrade and build a pc. Just like BestBuy you could sell things like phones, speakers , lamps, and other tech things. I would also like to be able to build a pc on the game like a pc builder simulator then sell them on a website. Maybe even add some really cool many games such as Mario cart.

Going around stabbing/shooting people isn't really "RP" unless someone kidnaps them, tortures them, and executes them, it's not RP. Just murder.

The past months here at the studio have been hectic, but our labors are paying off. It is with regret that I must make the decision to push back the public release of the Town Square module from April 23; however, the delay will be quite minor. Because this is now the second delay to an official firm release date, and because we expect this delay to be short-lived, we are as of this announcement releasing the Asylum Task Tracker. The new task tracker, visible on the Town Square section of the official website (here's a link for you), offers the Identity community and fans absolute transparency in our development progress. You can now see the tasks we have to complete before we're ready for the module to be publicly available. It will be updated each and every day. The list is not long, and displays all tasks since the tracker was created only a day ago. When all of the tasks are completed, of which none are major, Town Square will be released on Steam and available for play. Furthermore, the new Identity website is on schedule for a release just next week! The new website will come with all sorts of cool new features and we'll be building on it constantly as we move forward, too. With the release of the new website, I'm also going to begin regular Identity Insider releases. These Insider publications will add a ton of very detailed information on key systems within Identity. Delays are unfortunately a reality of all game development, whether a game is being produced by a large studio with hundreds of developers or a small team, such as ours, with only dozens. We faced unforeseeable technical issues recently; however, all of the issues we had have been fully resolved and, as you can see with the new tracker, release is extremely close. As soon as we get some final bits of art in place, we're going to compile a Town Square trailer video and begin showing off the game and environments on our development streams. So to sum it all up, keep an eye on the new tracker (see that link above) and follow our progress. The tracker will be updated once per day as it has to be done manually. Once we get our production software updated so that it can be automated, it'll be a live display. I also want to say that you to our loyal community and fan-base. Delays are never a fun thing to experience with any game, so everyone here in the studio is working overtime like crazy to get you into our world. You'll be in the Town Square very soon and this is going to make the game a much better experience. I'm really excited for our first module release as it's shaping up to be a really fun and beautiful experience. In fact, the Town Square is much more than I even though it would have been early on; I'm extremely happy with what we've put together. I hope you enjoy the peak behind the scenes with the new task tracker and we'll be seeing you in the square soon!

im in the oil and gas industry, i work on my days off most times and we work 12 hours a day. 24/7 we don't rest we get the job done. if the devs wanted to be specific with when this would be updated, they should have been. with the constant delays, the always in the dark, never meeting targets or goals, people will start holding them accountable to everything they say including the wording of how they say it. i get they may not work weekends , however the tracker is on the website and i can only assume they can hit update anywhere in the world, even if there was no significant change.
