The past months here at the studio have been hectic, but our labors are paying off. It is with regret that I must make the decision to push back the public release of the Town Square module from April 23; however, the delay will be quite minor. Because this is now the second delay to an official firm release date, and because we expect this delay to be short-lived, we are as of this announcement releasing the Asylum Task Tracker. The new task tracker, visible on the Town Square section of the official website (here's a link for you), offers the Identity community and fans absolute transparency in our development progress. You can now see the tasks we have to complete before we're ready for the module to be publicly available. It will be updated each and every day. The list is not long, and displays all tasks since the tracker was created only a day ago. When all of the tasks are completed, of which none are major, Town Square will be released on Steam and available for play. Furthermore, the new Identity website is on schedule for a release just next week! The new website will come with all sorts of cool new features and we'll be building on it constantly as we move forward, too. With the release of the new website, I'm also going to begin regular Identity Insider releases. These Insider publications will add a ton of very detailed information on key systems within Identity. Delays are unfortunately a reality of all game development, whether a game is being produced by a large studio with hundreds of developers or a small team, such as ours, with only dozens. We faced unforeseeable technical issues recently; however, all of the issues we had have been fully resolved and, as you can see with the new tracker, release is extremely close. As soon as we get some final bits of art in place, we're going to compile a Town Square trailer video and begin showing off the game and environments on our development streams. So to sum it all up, keep an eye on the new tracker (see that link above) and follow our progress. The tracker will be updated once per day as it has to be done manually. Once we get our production software updated so that it can be automated, it'll be a live display. I also want to say that you to our loyal community and fan-base. Delays are never a fun thing to experience with any game, so everyone here in the studio is working overtime like crazy to get you into our world. You'll be in the Town Square very soon and this is going to make the game a much better experience. I'm really excited for our first module release as it's shaping up to be a really fun and beautiful experience. In fact, the Town Square is much more than I even though it would have been early on; I'm extremely happy with what we've put together. I hope you enjoy the peak behind the scenes with the new task tracker and we'll be seeing you in the square soon!

Announcement I will no longer be updating this post because of full-time work. I simply don't have enough time to do it every morning. I know i said i would be updating this post daily but i just cant anymore. Thank you to everyone who has been positive in the comments, I'll see you in town square Hello and welcome In this post ill be keeping everyone updated with the tasks that are completed everyday from day 1 until we have a release date. Ill try my best to go into detail and give my open minded opinion on the tasks Day 1 When looking at day one you see all these tasks that need to be completed, It does seem scary to think that we could be waiting a while. Day 2 Now comparing day two with day one you begin to see some decent changes, not much but it's still progress non the less! Environment: As seen in the picture developers have taken one more task on board and are working hard to get them done. Props: We can see that all the props are now finished for Town Square. Technical Art: We see here that the developers have taken one task on board to work on. UI & UX: Big step forward here, you can see within a day one of the tasks has been completed and the rest are in the works. User Interface: We see one task being taken on board today. Day 3 Day 3 is looking to be a nice step forward in development on the tasks, Looks like all 2D graphics are done and dusted. 2D Graphics: All the tasks have been completed and we can see some more help with other tasks. Technical Art: We see developers have taken one more task on board to work on. UI & UX: One of the tasks has been completed and only one more remains until UI & UX are all done. Gameplay: One of the tasks has been done and the developers have taken one more on board to work on. User Interface: We see one has been completed and developers have taken one more task on board as a result. Day 4 Day 4 is looking to be a little bit slow in terms of progress, this just means more work can be done tomorrow! Animation: All the animation work has been finished and we can expect more people working on other tasks. Character Art: Seems like the developers have taken this task on board and hopefully we can see this finished by tomorrow! Systems: Nice progress there today, 2 tasks done and a nice step towards completion. Day 5 Day 5 overall looks like a nice day for development, doesn't seem like we have encountered any setbacks. Environment: Developers have completed one more task here, and as a result we can see they have taken one more task on board to work with. Technical Art: We see here that the developers have completed one task and taken another one on board. Gameplay: Here we see that developers have completed one task and have taken one on board as well as testing another gameplay aspect. Day 6 Day 6 is looking like another nice step forward in the development process. Technical Art: We can see developers have completed one task and have taken another one on board to work with. Bug Tracker: As shown above we are seeing some nice movement in terms of bug fixing, we see that two bugs have been fixed. Gameplay: Developers have taken one more task on board to work with here. Day 7 Day 7 looks like a little bit of a slow day today, maybe because its Friday? Technical Art: We can see one task has been completed here and another one has been taken on board to work on. Bug Tracker: Developers have completed one more task on the list in terms of bug fixes. User Interface: We can see that developers have completed two tasks today and haven taken another one on board to work with. Day 8 Day 8 looking like a lot of progress has happened, especially for a Monday. Environment: We can see here that developers have brought two of the tasks into testing stages. We can see everything here is now finished for the release. Systems: We see that developers have taken one new task on board to work with here. User interface: We can see that developers are now testing on of the features here, hopefully done tomorrow. Day 9 Day 9 overall is setting up to be a nice start to the week in development. Environment: We can see here that developers have completed two more tasks, with one more in progress and one in revision. Gameplay: In terms of gameplay we can see one more task completed, another in testing and one more taken on board. User Interface: We can see that one more task is now being thrown in the works and tested. Day 10 Day 10 looks like a one step forward and two steps back kinda day. Environment: We can see that there is one more task completed and one still in the works. Bug Tracker: We can see one new bug has been added to the list. Gameplay: As seen in the picture above, we can see one more task complete along with one more in the works. In addition we have one more added to the list. Systems: As seen in the picture, one task has been completed with one more in testing. User Interface: We have one task being put into the works for developers to work on. Day 12 Day 12 looks to be a bit of a weird day. Character Art: Seems as though developers have taken it out of the task tracker, Maybe it's no longer needed? Bug Tracker: One more bug has been completed here. I have no idea whats going on, maybe Friday is a lazy day? Notice: From this day onward until day 19 i was away due to a sudden family tragedy, that's why you see a sudden jump in the days Day 19 Day 20 Day 20 looks like a rather slow day, considering we are getting into the coding aspect we can begin to see these slow days occur more often. Gameplay: We see that developers have taken two more tasks on board to work on here. User Interface: We can see that developers have added another task on the pile to complete. Day 21 Day 21 looks to be at a slow pace compared to last week. Technical Art: We can see one task has been completed here. User Interface: Looks like one task has been put into testing phase. Day 22 Day 22 is your typical Friday work pace Systems: We can see that all systems tasks have been completed. Day 23 Day 23 Is a bummer in terms of progress. No progress was made today. Progression Pictures Days 1-5 Side By Side (Click) Days 5-10 Side By Side (Click) Days 1-10 Side By Side (Click) Days 10-20 Side By Side (Click) Days 1-20 Side By Side (Click) Summary Looking at the images above you can sort of see the development pan out at a decent pase so far, keep in mind that the more tasks that are ticked off means more man power for the rest of the tasks. With the data above 54 total tasks with an average of 5 being completed a day, i can assume the game COULD be ready for launch in 14-20 days. taking into account the extra man power when tasks are done. This is also assuming developers dont run into any major setbacks. I will try to keep this post up to date with daily updates on the tasks, Also giving my opinion on the day. In the mean time i want to know what everyone else thinks about all these tasks? Will there be more put in? Will the pase of the development speed up? Let me know what you think down below! Hello community, for the first sorry for my bad english im from austria. So i dont understand why the devs do that to us. After 3 new release dates they now give us a task bar. The devs know at march that they dont can give us the game in april but they set the new release month to that. You can say "hey sorry community but the game is still have some troubles and we give you more information in the next dev-message." Now im waiting longer than one year for that, in the last 3 months i call a lot of friends about the game and they all are hyped and "buy"/pledge for it. Afther they see that the game is not released in march they ask me why, i tell them wait for the april, now im not know what to say to that. Im really pissed on the devs, we are all normal people and can understand that you need more time, but than dont give us so much dates and in the end only a dev-bar that is littery on maybe 60% of the finish. You know that all in the march too. Again sorry for the bad english and have a nice day. Peace.

I share your feelings, but even though I respect the fact that the developers are working as hard as they can and there's always problems along the way, they shouldn't put out a solid release date with a countdown timer if there's no guarantee. They should have released the task tracker earlier and given a more broad release time. Like, Q1 - Q2 2018 or something. There's always issues with giving out exact dates because people just get antsy when it's pushed back because the date couldn't be met - but that's to be expected. I guess we're just gonna have to wait and see what happens.

@lamona I agree with you. To do this again after delaying the modules overall, the video, then delaying this Town Square Module twice in a row is just sad. @killerkate888 You came off swinging, lol. Just try to smoothly go into it. We're all friends here. We all want the same thing, Identity to be released. But like @lamona said we all have been nonstop supportive and positive, some of us been here for years. So to get yet another delay and in the manner they did it was like they disregarded all of us. There comes to a point where we all waited long enough and the least we deserve is a gosh dang valid release date. Thanks, you have a nice day too.

The tasks on the tracker, as it states in top, are only those remaining for the town square release as of last Thursday night. We're talking two full business days. I think the progress has been quite decent, considering. If we were displaying all tasks completed it would be in the thousands.

I totally agree! i made my friends buy this too and they are all asking my why the game isn't coming I understandt the time thing but agian as you say they knew that in march too

I’m still behind this game 100%.

They've crossed the Rubicon for me, so to speak. To not only delay it a second time, but doing it at the last minute and scrapping a release date with a resigned "what more do you want?!" shows a complete disregard. Baseless positivity hasn't worked so far. Why do people think it's going to be different now they're not even giving us a date? lol

While this is a suggestion, given by the location in which it is posted, I would like to just inform by saying that there are no plans for nudity or sex in the game. There will be strip clubs! But as to how those work in detail I am afraid I do not know fully. Now, like every game in development things are subject to change. I’m not going to say how likely it is, but just wanting to inform on the current plans for the game. Suggestions are meant to show player interests anyways, so it’s good to get the communities opinions on it.

Committed to the Asylum Wow, what a month. This has been the busiest, craziest month we've ever had at Asylum Entertainment and the hard work is really showing. Most of the guys here at the office have been putting in a lot of overtime hours to get the Town Square module ready as soon as possible. I myself have been working half my time as a programmer, tossing some cool new systems together. I really, really can't wait for everyone to see what we're putting together! For the past few days my personal pet project has been a total overhaul of the character control and animation system. We're working on getting new animations entirely, but it's amazing how much nicer character movement looks right now after some extra TLC. In the past Identity videos, you'll notice the camera is always locked behind your character and you rotate the character with the mouse. Now, movement is a little more like games such as Grand Theft Auto in which you can run toward the screen or parallel to it, too. If you're holding your forward run key/stick, it'll play like before. It really adds a much better sense of control. Alternatively, when you're in combat mode (weapons or melee), the view is again locked behind your shoulders. None of this applies to first-person view, of course. We've been putting a lot of time into polishing and enhancing character creation and customization in preperation for the Town Square launch. I wanted to share a screenshot to give you an idea of the extensive customization options available. You can control your gender, race, blemishes, hair and a ton of facial modifiers. You can select from a couple dozen pieces of clothing to start in, too, but most will have to be purchased at a shop. Character creation work in progress I've been waiting a very long time to see Identity in the state it is right now. We have a powerful new server making nightly builds for testing on Steam and everything is beginning to have that good polished feel you expect in a real, released game. There's still work to be done but it's an incredibly exciting time for us here. Sooner rather than later There are all sorts of features we want for the Town Square which were always planned to be added months after release. With art development moving at a faster pace than I ever anticipated it would, given the relatively tiny size of our team, it seems that we might be able to include some of these features sooner than I expected. Some of these features, which should be ready somewhat soon after Town Square is available, include tattoos, haircuts and even the shooting range. Tattoo shop (WIP) Tattoo design and development progress (WIP) A look inside the Asylum In keeping with our committment to transparency and open communication with the community, our new website will soon be launching (even before the Town Square). The new website will have all sorts of shop options for you to check out, but one of the more interesting aspects will be our development tracker. We're going to be showing you exactly where our development stands in regards to each milestone, such as the Town Square release. You're going to see live data showing what we're working on and how long we expect each element to take. Then, following the Town Square release we'll keep this going for each future development milestone. It'll sort of be like looking over our shoulders in the office yourself. The Twitch Clips If you've been following Identity's development closely, you probably already know that developers stream their work live on the Identity Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday. We also use that time to answer almost every question that gets asked about Identity's development and gameplay. Now that we've been doing this a while, we've answered a lot of questions. Our awesome community manager, BeachBall, has taken the time to compile a massive list of questions linked to clips where they're answered by a developer. Get comfy and head over to the Twitch Clips Directory forum thread. If you haven't found this already, be prepared to spend a good bit of time listening to all sorts of awesome information. This is the best place to get to know the fine details Identity! -- John VanderZwet

Here we all meet again. It's been some time, but I kept with the media. So, let's get to it then. This is my opinion, you don't have to share it, but at least respect it. Here we are again. Town Square module gets delayed AGAIN with no good reasons why. There has to be a point where even the die hard fans of this game have to admit that this is just bad. When they released an alright video that really didn't show much and what it did show was old and unfinished work the community went crazy. When the devs pushed back the release date of the module people were not happy, but willing to wait for a fully completed module. Now, months later than the original release date the module is being pushed back even further. The devs shouldn't be even thinking about an "official release date" if they can't even release a solid good video. Mentioning videos, weren't the devs supposed to drop a new video that shows the Town Square Module? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they said in the last dev blog they'll release a video to compensate for the first delay. Which still hasn't even came out yet. So what's the deal? Here comes my opinion, the devs got too excited and gave out an "official release date" which they could never provide evidence that it could be done within that time frame. They realize they were not gonna come close to getting it done for that launch date so they pushed it back a month. Why would they push it back only a month if the game needed so much more work? The answer is this: They wanted to keep the positivity going with the fans so they pushed it back just a month because everyone can deal with a month. Now if they came out and said "Hey guys, the module still needs a lot more work and we underestimated it. So to assure the module gets completed with no problems were delaying the launch for a few months". That sounds a lot better until the last sentence, " a few months". I don't know about you, but one months sounds a lot better than a few months and I wouldn't oppose it. So here we are again. The devs said they can get the module ready in a month, but in reality they knew very well it couldn't be done. So they pushed it back another month. You're probably wondering "Where's the evidence?". So here it is: http://www.identityrpg.com/info/modules/townsquare/ Depending on the date you look at this it might be different than the one I'm talking about. If you scroll all the way down to the Asylum Task Tracker. I'm skipping the Bug Tracker info. Art The 2D graphics is finished. Animations: 1 in progress and 2 completed. Character Art: 1 New. Environment: 5 In progress and only 1 completed. Props: 1 finished. Technical Art: 8 new and 5 finished. UI and UX: 1 in progress and 2 completed. Programming Gameplay: 8 new, 1 finished, 1 in testing, and 1 in progress. Systems: 4 new and 1 in testing. User Interface: 6 new, 5 in progress, and 3 completed. So after first looking at it I was very shocked. I mean look at it. The devs had the beginning of the announcement date for the Town Square Module (back in 2017) to the first delay. They were never ready for the first Official Launch Date even if they wanted to be. Facts speak for themselves and what I see here is a lot of "New" and "In Progress" tasks that yes are based off of April 19, 2018, but still shouldn't outnumber the completed tasks at this point like they do. Having just got clarification these tasks are the ones remaining since April 19, 2018. So they made a lot more progress than displayed (they really should show the tasks completed since the first delay, since that is what we want to know. How much work needed to be done and how much did they finish from then to now). But, like I said before there is absolutely no way this module could have been finished a month ago or even today. With proper organization the devs should of been able to see that there's no way they could get this done with the original and first delay timeline. Therefore, they should of delayed it for the CORRECT amount of time needed to get this module out for everyone and not say "It'll be done in a month" when they know very well it wouldn't be. So there it is. I wanted to give my opinion. Now please correct me if I'm wrong in any of this. I didn't create this thread to cause hatred towards the devs. I created this to broaden people's perspectives on this whole situation. To give them all of the details. So once again if I made a mistake in this let me know. I will be glad to make changes if needed. I truly want this game to come out and I still support it. Yes, I support it though I just gave reasons that may say the opposite. Those reasons were to help others. Knowing that already hasn't made me hate the game or the devs, but I want to see proper treatment that we all deserve.

I hate social justice warriors. Not what they stand for but how they act. They are bullies. They should help people and bring peace to the world. But they just humiliate people they don't agree whit. I learned that aspies and SJW dont mix wel. Of course 4chan is bad. Harassing women is bad. Using drugs is bad. But bulling is just not the key. They need to talk whit there victim on the subject. Tell them its bad and there are better ways. Not shout at them. Of course if you talk to a bully and tell them its bad to bully you should be angry. But is it necessary to traumatize them. The only thing they under stand is the social part. there is no justice. Once they act they become monsters.

Yeah it's been so long I can't even remember when I pledged lol. I think it would be a nice idea from the devs if they upgraded people's pledge packages to account for all the delays....

For intercourse there is no place for it in the game, It would be a waste of time for the devs to spend doing that. Basically if Grand Theft Auto does not have it Identity will not have it.

@killerkate888You talking to me? It feels like you're talking to me so I'll say you're talking to me. lol. You honestly don't know what a pledge means do you? lol. Just because you pledged for something doesn't mean you can't give your opinion about the progress of the game. Especially if it's positive or negative. Like I said you don't have to like it but that's my opinion. Now let's depict your message. Who said being positive is difficult for me? I literally said numerous times that I support the game and hope that it's as good as the devs say it will be. I simply stated what came to mind after looking at the blog about the 2nd delay. Like it or not there's no reason the devs couldn't give themselves 2 months instead of missing yet another deadline. Also you must be new here (account created this year that's why I said that) but delays is nothing new to this game. But after backing it and keeping positive for years it starts getting old. Wait a while and you'll catch the drift. Lastly, gosh excuse me I need to take a breather after writing all of this, just because myself or anyone voices their opinion whether it's negative or not doesn't mean they shouldn't express it. Also you must of got lost when looking up the definition of "pledge" since it's " a solemn promise or undertaking" and no where does it say "to stay positive".

Most systems are done. Few are not. Having a task for a system doesn't mean it's not complete, it means we need to enhance it or correct some things. You see a few tasks listed, you don't see the thousands that are already completed before the tracker went live.

In certain areas, especially a place with a lot of businesses or venues, I think that paid parking would be a great way to allow players to make money. So paid parking could be run in a select number of ways. The default way would be to have the parking service be owned by the town's government on an automated system, with a fixed price. The money earned would go to fund the local government. However I think that paid parking could be privatized. If a player with enough money wanted to buy the parking lot/parking garage, they could do so and profit from it. And of course if the owner chose to, they could allow player employment, just like any other business. A customer would drive up to a ticket dispenser, pay a price, and receive a parking ticket/receipt in their inventory (maybe you put the receipt in your window). This would allow people to break the law and illegally park if they chose to. Just by driving past the ticket dispenser, you could still park. Allowing illegal parking would also give the police another task they could carry out, and earn bonuses for. Please tell me what you think of this idea, and if you agree that there should be paid parking. EDIT: Thanks for all the replies, I'm glad I see my ideas are not totally idiotic

So I plan to go into politics with my character as an emergency paramedic and by the way. First I'll probably be able to deliver packages to get a driver's license and maybe a car. I don't want to become a criminal and I want to try to live out the cliché of Germans. That means: It is 3 o'clock in the morning, no car far and wide and I stop at the red traffic light and I will try to make my German accent clearer when speaking English and try to be so friendly in almost every situation that everyone else would already have a choleric fit.

TBH you say they are trying their hardest i think that is bull lol, how long has it been pledged and they have barely anything to show for it. at the rate they are going, other devs that mod GTA5 will be able to replicate the identity concept lmao so then it will be obsolete

They delayed it on Friday... And they streamed on Thursday and said how the TS was ready and how '' our servers are waiting for you to explore them ''

Hey guys, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Motown in the discord has just confirmed another delay with no upcoming ETA. All information about the release will be through the Dev Tracker.
