The past months here at the studio have been hectic, but our labors are paying off. It is with regret that I must make the decision to push back the public release of the Town Square module from April 23; however, the delay will be quite minor. Because this is now the second delay to an official firm release date, and because we expect this delay to be short-lived, we are as of this announcement releasing the Asylum Task Tracker. The new task tracker, visible on the Town Square section of the official website (here's a link for you), offers the Identity community and fans absolute transparency in our development progress. You can now see the tasks we have to complete before we're ready for the module to be publicly available. It will be updated each and every day. The list is not long, and displays all tasks since the tracker was created only a day ago. When all of the tasks are completed, of which none are major, Town Square will be released on Steam and available for play. Furthermore, the new Identity website is on schedule for a release just next week! The new website will come with all sorts of cool new features and we'll be building on it constantly as we move forward, too. With the release of the new website, I'm also going to begin regular Identity Insider releases. These Insider publications will add a ton of very detailed information on key systems within Identity. Delays are unfortunately a reality of all game development, whether a game is being produced by a large studio with hundreds of developers or a small team, such as ours, with only dozens. We faced unforeseeable technical issues recently; however, all of the issues we had have been fully resolved and, as you can see with the new tracker, release is extremely close. As soon as we get some final bits of art in place, we're going to compile a Town Square trailer video and begin showing off the game and environments on our development streams. So to sum it all up, keep an eye on the new tracker (see that link above) and follow our progress. The tracker will be updated once per day as it has to be done manually. Once we get our production software updated so that it can be automated, it'll be a live display. I also want to say that you to our loyal community and fan-base. Delays are never a fun thing to experience with any game, so everyone here in the studio is working overtime like crazy to get you into our world. You'll be in the Town Square very soon and this is going to make the game a much better experience. I'm really excited for our first module release as it's shaping up to be a really fun and beautiful experience. Last month, you stated that you were nearly done but needed a little bit longer to finish up, and so gave yourselves an extra month to deliver the TS module. This, was clearly intentional lies. Judging by your dev tracker, you haven't completed UI, UX, gameplay, animations, 2D graphics, character art, environment, props, technical art, or systems. How could you have possibly been 'nearly done' last month when the most basic elements weren't completed. Last delay, you made it out as if you just needed to smoothen out some animations or design a new font, which was intentional deceitfulness. I ask you this, what have you completed 100%? Because it seems to me the most basic elements of a game aren't even close to being done, so what exactly is done?

Here's a tip, don't give a date if you're going to keep delaying. Can you really blame people for being pissed at this point? I sure as hell don't. We all knew this would happen anyway because it seems to be a recurring theme. You guys make a big announcement that things are going great to get everyone's hopes up and then when it comes close to release date oh look conveniently there's a setback like always. Hate to say it paratus but I can't be surprised if people start to think we're being strung along. Twice you guys have said this is being released on such and such date and twice you've retracted it less than 5 days before expected date arrives. To all of us that seems like you guys are just throwing dates out there and then extending it. The last time you delayed this you said everything was almost done and that you only needed an extra month yet now you've delayed this once again and this time there isn't even a valid reason. Suspicious is the first thing we're all thinking sorry but it's a fair and valid statement

I am at the same position..I will not give up to this game now which is at its edge of release as I haven't done for the past 2 years..lets hope the devs will come out from the dark from now on

Unfortunately threads like this put doubts in people's minds, someone like me who has had full faith from day one now doesn't know where to stand because my mind is pondering on whether it is a scam. Deep down I believe this is genuine but the lack of communication from the devs doesn't help anyone and only makes it worse when the delays happen

The module is simultaneously an alpha and a very small (incomplete) portion of the actual game. What people are getting at is there's all this talk about polishing and making it 100%, but it's well understood to be a very early look into the game, something that's supposed to ensure us that they're actually doing something. It is well understood that the game will still be in development and subject to massive changes. It's naive to think that they're going to achieve something that's 100% by any reasonable stretch of the imagination, especially for a module. The problem is we still haven't seen anything that suggests they've actually got a game. April 23rd was a moment of truth, and it's been a pretty damning blow -- I cannot depend on anything these people say. It's so unfortunate that what could have been an exciting weekend for the community has turned out to be another disappointment.

Don't really know how to start this so Ill just get right into my opinion. I have been waiting for a game like this for so long, the idea of a standalone version of Role-playing in a GTA like environment (No I'm not comparing them). Now obviously there is the GTA mod for role-playing like the old SAMP, but this is a game thats notion is role-playing elements at the core. I have little hope for official/public servers (at this point) but I do not know how they will be handled rules wise, but private servers with a white-listing process I believe will be the healthy option. The issue for so many games these days is hype, the moment we hear an announcement, see a trailer and/or see game play, we start forming our opinions with what we're presented. This leads to the expectation of receiving what we feel we are promised but It seems over the last several years we have forgotten what ALPHA testing is, what BETA testing is and in the case of INDENTITY, modules. Before you jump to the conclusion and say 'but we've been waiting for years' let me ask 'would you prefer they release the game with bugs and every-one cries that the TESTING phase of the game has bugs'? because thats what happens when you rush a game. GTA 4 releasing in 2008 and GTA 5 releasing in 2013... That's 5 years. Now the first announcement for GTA 5 was in late 2011 so from announcement to release is 2 years, 2 years (if not more for full development) for a well funded, popular and talented company with more then 1000 people working on GTA 5. But people expect a brand new company Asylum Entertainment Inc to release a fully working game with minimal bugs/issues in roughly the same time?. (Yes GTA 5 is a bigger game but they also had 1000+ people working on it and it took 3 years for an announcement) Now I haven't been following INDENTITY that closely, So from a quick glance at the forums due to the upcoming town square release Iv seen a number of people complaining about the wait time which from what I gathered is about 3 years. In 3 years a brand new company has released some game play and trailers of a brand new game. I guarantee Asylum Entertainment Inc doesn't have over 1000 people working on this game, let alone experienced people (This is NOT meant as an insult to the devs) so in my opinion, they've done pretty well for 3 years (again the average time I see mentioned in the complaints). The other complaint I had noticed is the communication from the devs is rather poor, now please remember they are humans, they have a life outside of developing this game. They probably have full-time jobs since they need to support themselves/and their families not to mention time off. However I can understand the frustration of poor communication from devs, I understand we all want to play this game, we want to know whats going on and when this and that is happening and we don't like having information being dropped on us when its delays or other issues because we have paid money for a product and expect some sort of service and product for that. It seems some people (NOT ALL) feel entitled because they willingly pay for a product regardless of knowing it is still in development and by a new small team company. I feel like I need to mention as well that this is module 1 that is being delayed... Module 1 is the core aspect of the game, they need it to function properly, where as module 2 and 3 are the extra content so they need module 1 to work as intended, which I would like them to be able to achieve. Better that then a buggy nu-optimized release. Please remain realistic about the devs, please remain optimistic about the game itself, please express concerns (in a reasonable manner). BUT PLEASE DO NOT BITCH ON THE FORUMS WHEN YOU PAID MONEY FOR A PRODUCT YOU KNEW FULL WELL WAS STILL BEING DEVELOPED BY A NEW COMPANY. I find it funny how people get so aggravated over a delay. It happens, bitching like a bunch of pussies isn't going to help anything. I've been following the game's development with a friend of mine since before this website was even up, the only thing you can do to not go stir crazy waiting for the game is to merely check in every month or so, check any updates, and if the game isn't out, go on with your fucking life for another month, and check in again. Don't bother responding to me about how the Asylum team has lost your trust because I couldn't care less and I'm sure there are plenty of others who don't want to hear your gripes either, even some who've been following the game since day one. They're working with a million dollar budget, I'd rather them take another two years to make a fantastic game rather than release an unfinished product that I've spent sixty dollars on.

They shouldn't be announcing a f*****g release date in the first place. If they can't get their shit done on time then don't get people's hopes up thinking it'll come out, they've had more than enough chances and time and they've had nothing to show for it except a two minute clip that's taken nearly 3 years to give us. Highly unprofessional frankly. Anyone can post rendered pictures but we want to see actual game play footage so we know this ain't bullshit, yet we can't even get a simple trailer, why you ask? Because at this stage I'm starting to think they've not actually got anything and have just been taking us for mugs, sure as hell feels like it

Not the video that they told us some dev blogs ago. and i dont know why the devs just dont show us anything to prove us wrong. If they start closing threads because they are negative towards the game, it shows to potential buyers that the devs are not to be trusted, and are against free speech. If you take your fanboyism glasses off and put on your critical thinking hat, you'd understand. understandable , yes. i too would rather have a polished game than some trash. especially after putting that kind of money into it. but, the further we go into this it seems the less we are told. i have watched streams and what not i have no doubt in my mind the game is in progress but theres nothing keeping me here minus false deadlines. its just like mastahakill said its cartman telling us how great it is yet we cant see it or use it.

Yeah well I was thinking that today, it only took so long for the Town Square module cause its a brand new game, once thats out with the core game being in play, I don't believe cars and weapon will take to much time since the core game will already be there.

The fact that they have consistently provided factual DATES, not to mention not "approximates" but ACTUAL DOWN TO EXACT DATES of release and then pushes it back makes me FURIOUS. If you're gonna be inefficient in your work just state it instead of making up lies and providing fake dates. I had backed this game before the release of the town square in hopes that they actually complete their job but sadly I was in false hope, once again like everyone else. Few months now it's delayed again and again.... i really would like to know what's the real reason to do that again and again, and don't tell me "bugs blabla.... " it's a beta and then anyway there will be bugs. Never seen a game in beta without bugs, never... it's not a good reason. So why just don't let us see what is the level of the actual version.

Can anyone tell me how to do a refund? Dont get me wrong, i wont say anything negative about the game itself, but those devs are a laugh. One delay after another, they have delayed this game for years now. So no, i would like to receive my money back, and wait till the game has been released, to see what the reviews be like. i really wanted to back you guys up, as this game could be a game changer. But this has gone to far.

Two years still is an absurd guess. Any guess above two months is absurd, they only need to complete 58 more tasks, they have 6 so far today, and literally thousands since 2015. In fact if they continue at this current pace of 5 or 6 tasks per day, it will be ready in only 10 days time. So there is no need to be dramatic.

Going from a date back to a progress bar is clearly regressive. Dealing with missed deadlines by dropping the deadlines isn't transparent, it's more obtuse than giving another date. I knew it would be delayed, but I had my doubts it would actually be quite this bad.
