Same here! I've always been into the law enforcement field, but since I'm majoring in game design, I think this will be close enough

3D modeling can be difficult to get into, especially when you go into programs like Maya or 3DS Max, the UI is insanely intimidating. Check out some of my stuff! https://brendan3d.com/portfolio/

I think it would be a neat idea to use holding spaces like Storage Units to house goods you simply do not want to see anymore. Perhaps some old clothes you wish to no longer have to rummage through in your closet, or some large pieces of furniture you no longer wish to see in your building interface, or maybe even a small vehicle if you feel like you just can't give it up (and have the storage space). With that there would be added fees of course for owning these units. You must pay the bills or suffer the loss if you don't. This could open up the possibility for actually selling units of goods if the owner can't keep up with the bills. A cubical of goods and junk for someone else to own and possibly put to use.

While I love the idea of storage units, I am not thrilled with paying real money in the auctions. Dont get me wrong, I love the idea of the auctions (I thought of the idea myself when reading the original post), but I would vote to pay with in-game currency. I dont disagree with you that Asylum should have some sort of way to generate revenue, but I personally wouldnt want to pay real cash for someone's left over plaid couch or box of nudie mags lol. Just my opinion.

Adding to the concept of storage units, I was thinking about this today on a drive. My thought was Storage Units could be a revenue stream for Asylum. Disclosure: I don't think they are going for a sleazy cash grab by any means, but it hurts none to think of ways to help them make a return on the teams enormous investment of time and money, in a ethical way that they can continue to generate revenue to fund the studio and continued development. Potential Requirements: -Player must have a residence(to avoid people only using storage units-would negatively impact social experiences near apartments/homes)-you need a address when you sign up for a storage unit in most reputable places IRL. -Perhaps limiting the # of units that can be rented at a time per character Idea: -Storage units could only be purchased with real cash. -Rental period of X amount of days -If the unit is not paid for by its due date, or returned the unit is put up for auction(again real money auction) -The auction includes any contents left by the previous owner, sight unseen. Instead of people bidding a lot of money for nothing(or let them), maybe they give the bidders a short description, ex: items in storage 0/50-empty, 10-20-small, 20-35-medium, 35-50-packed to the gills! All of the proceeds from the rental, and auction go to Asylum. For the convenience of having a space away from your personal apartment or home to store stuff, take a friend to get kitted, store extra stuff. This would all need to be a balanced in inventory size/capacity compared with whatever is available in apartments and houses, as to not push the need for a storage unit, but as a 'nice to have', Perhaps when you don't want to show the new join to your gang where you live, but want to have a place for them to store stuff, whatever. Theres also opportunity here for delivery missions for drivers to bring peoples goods from home to storage, as well as the market pricing of the units themselves, rent near the city $X.99/month rent out by the farms something else a month. These could be instanced units and after expiry if not sold at auction, the contents could be removed from the server database. Lootcrates, except a crate for YOUR loot.

As a PC game they'll still be careful in order not to make it a Postal 3, but I think consoles aren't planned and won't ever be a thing (I might be wrong, but this looks like it)

You'll be able to drive to your residence, but the house/apartment will be in its own instance. Luckily you'll be loading while going up the elevator! The reason there will be instances is because of the customization, basically to reduce lag in the actual world. Your friends will be able to join you in your apartment, and you can add them as a roommate who will be allowed to help you build!

I believe they said there will be a way to report players! Since Official servers will be less moderated due to the amount of Official servers they will have, this seems like a great way to deal with that!

I think it would be cool to have an app like meetup.com on the phones where players on any server; could organize events, post dates and times, server #, and get notifications in game that an event they subscribed to is starting. Maybe this is already planned but I haven't seen or recognized it(In the phone or laptop, might be blind), and would be pretty immersive and a way to socialize with new people in game.

A Death sentence does sound like a good solution, although, I feel that would need to be decided by a trial, just to remove any trolls from inside the PD. Of course, they did say the 45 minute max time might be changed at a later date, but I personally feel as if 45 minutes is a good start. Its long enough for it to really inconvenience you, but not long enough to make you have to stop RP, and leave your PC on with Identity running while you're off at the Grocery store for 2-3 hours. Although, custom servers may have the ability to lower/raise that timer.

Planet Coaster, i LOVE micromanagement games, and its super casual as well. Along with that I just picked up a game called Voxel Turf, its kind of like Saints Row, GTA San Andreas, Minecraft and Sid Miers: Civ all mixed together, its less casual than Planet Coaster, but its quite fun!

I would say at least a minimum of 45 minutes to a maximum of 2 or 3 hours maybe? or Perhaps a "death sentence" is a point where you start over again so if you are trolling and that is what is identified then you will have to restart all over with your character so this way trolls would be found out and get tired of being restarted over and over :D. (also just realised without reading your second paragraph we both thought the same thing XD).

I agree with HairyGrenade: 3D modeling it's hard if you want to create good models... working in this platform. You need to create a good mesh with the right balance of quality-look and weight (poly number). You need to create and put the textures, then set reflections, bumps and other details. After that, in a dynamic platform like this one, you need to work on physique and collision... matching with the Platform World settings. So the work is hard also after the mesh-model ready.

You can't design your own, but you can repair your car if you are a mechanic, or but tuning upgrades and customize it.

Yes! Maybe these could only be played at, on certain surfaces like some boxes in an alley or whatever bringing some risk to being caught. (Tier 1) With how I've heard stores can't be physically designed/upgraded too much/at all (at least in the beginning), it would be cool if it were done in some general purpose rental space, that in someway the police or detectives found out, they could raid it. (Tier 2 - illegal gambling)
  32. 1 point
Good suggestion, it would be cool if players recruited people to go out and advertise a "secret gambling bunker" which could be brought in an ally way or something, then players can upgrade and buy more items to be placed inside! including other gambling.

If this is a thing, I'd quite like to see the game with three cups and a ball (I forgot the name... Bonneteau?) on the streets

you're a copy cat. i'm shooting you for that.

I will probably do the same. It just depends on how fast the private servers ramp up.

Love the idea! Brings a lot of immersion into the game, but I do agree with @Valtorix it does seem like something that IF they did decide to add it, I feel it would be at a way later date, maybe even after the official launch. Now - Some games RP is all about imagination as well, so depending on what types of vehicles they plan to add in the vehicle module, you might be able to run your Waste Management company just fine, minus the actual interaction of course. Great idea nonetheless!

Yes, they said it a while ago and to my knowledge haven't gone back on it.

I remember asking this a while ago, I was curious to see if they were thinking of adding like trash piles and litter; but I believe the general consensus was "No". If they did add such a thing, certainly would add to the game even if in a minor capacity, but it's isn't a necessity big enough for them to include it in the game... unless they've very recently changed their minds about the subject. Sorry! I like your idea though.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.
