Hello, hello! I go by InsomniaDoodles pretty much everywhere on the internet, but my name is Sunny. I’m an artist, more of a hobbyist than anything really, but I am looking forward to applying my skills(?) to this game somehow. I’m hoping that they will allow custom clothing and environment aspect designs, because I would definitely jump on the chance to make some in-game money doing just that. Custom commissions, original work, etc. Anyway, here is my intro. I’m just a 27 year-old housewife who has a ton of free time thanks to some pain-in-the-ass health conditions that keep me stuck at home. I don’t care to say much more about that, however. I’m here to escape reality, after all. I’m eager for the devs to announce the release date! I’ll be buying my passport as soon as that announcement comes. (No rush, devs. Take all the time you need to get everything ready!) -Insomnia (Sunny)

Beginning of a new era Wow, what a month; busy and exciting and full of promise! While the developers have been hard at work getting the Town Square module ready to go, I've been preparing our new office space and interviewing potential Asylum developers. We've raised almost $800,000, allowing us to expand in a big way and bring on loads of new talent. Asylum Entertainment's new home If you read my last dev blog you'll remember that we had just scouted out office space and had narrowed our search to one. Now we have the keys and I've been working hard to get it operational. I never want to see another hex key again! It's almost hard to imagine that we've been working on Identity with a team spread out around the world. The talent of our small team has astonished me. It's exciting to consider how finally working in a formal setting is going to boost productivity. Not only is working in an office such as this going to make it easier to work together, but we've been on a hiring craze. Having sifted through hundreds of applications over the past few weeks and interviewing dozens of skilled individuals, we've selected most new developers to join our team. Our programming manpower is now three times stronger. Finally, after all this time we're now able to afford a full-time community manager. Joining our team at the new office location next week is Identity's community manager, Brandon! You'll be hearing from him very regulary. We're committing to keeping you in constant contact with the development team. Keep an eye on our website as well as social media! Town Square on the horizon! With our new studio starting up next week and the new programming talent coming on-board, our goal of the Town Square release is getting nearer. It's big news: the official Town Square release date will be announced in the month of October. With all of the changes affecting our productivity in such a positive way, we need to see how everyone works together over the next few weeks. This will allow us to give our fans a date with which we can be confident. We've got the Twitch We wanted to give you a glimpse of the game development process and have been streaming on Twitch to show you how it's done. Four hour (or more) long streams have gone live since my last dev blog; keep an eye on Identity's Twitter for future stream announcements. We try to have at least one development stream per week. As a fan of Identity, one of the things you're going to enjoy most is the flurry of videos which will be coming soon showing off the social features of the Town Square. For a simple social module, there's a good bit of fun things to do! New in the Town Square Our lead programmer, Henrik, has been hard at work these last couple of weeks refactoring our housing system to make it more stable and better performing for the Town Square module release. Everything's looking great at this point and he's very excited to get a bunch of new help over the next couple of weeks. With more great talent joining our art team, we're producing assets and new environments at an astonishing pace. Interiors we only hoped to have in Town Square by its release have gone from concept to reality very quickly. Last dev blog I showed you the concept art pieces produced for the police station. The police station was something we didn't expect to be available in the initial Town Square release, but with our art team hard at work we're getting a lot done. Below you'll find the lobby as it is in-game. The police station in Town Square will be a place for you to learn about the policing career, but it will also eventually feature a shooting range for you to test the weapon systems in Identity. Police station lobby in Town Square Our character and clothing team has also been adding a large variety of things to wear in the Town Square. Both clothing and accessories are being added all the time. Note the attention to detail and excellent quality of the clothing pieces in Identity. New sweater clothing What's to come In summary, we've been moving along with Identity's development at a great pace considering the size of our team; however, our team is growing in a big way right now. New developers are selected and some are starting at the new office as early as this coming week. Once the new guys have been oriented and we get an understanding of their work, we're going to be able to analyze the tasks remaining and give you a release date for Town Square. This is a big deal; Town Square isn't all that far off now and we're already preparing and planning for the next module: SWAT. I hoped to release a video showing combat systems already, but most the remaining work for that falls on myself as the other developers are busy with the real systems for Town Square. I've not had much time over these weeks from preparing the office, so that's on hold a bit; my priority is getting the Town Square module into your hands as soon as possible. Because we're getting further along now, and with the added manpower, we're going to soon start releasing small gameplay videos showing off the different aspects of Town Square. Finally, Brandon is joining Asylum as a dedicated full-time community manager! Brandon will be keeping you up to date constantly. Our silent days are soon to be over! -- John VanderZwet Deja Vu! (I've just been in the place before...) Salutations again! This time it's Brandon talking. John's been too busy to update the site, so I'm here to finally add the 10th Developer Blog to the corresponding section of the forums! You've most likely seen this update if you've been active in "The Town Square" section of the site, so I apologize for not having anything new to share in terms of screenshots or stuff like that. D: No need to get the pitchforks out though! I might have a few things to tide you guys over! (Please don't poke me aaa.) Charles (the game developer sitting beside me in the office) is currently in a skype call with another programmer on the team getting the 411 on the current build of Identity. They're walking through some stuff in regards to the Unreal Engine and talking about all sorts of things that are t o t a l l y beyond me. I took some java and C programming courses as electives when I was in University and MAN, I've had a newfound appreciation for coders ever since. I'll see if I can get some tangible information about the specifics of what Charles is working on after the call, because all I see is a mixture of math and player models! In other news, I've been hanging around in the discord, answering questions where I can and seeking advice from the higher-ups when I'm stumped. It's been going quite well actually! There seem to be a lot of fans enthusiastic about seeing more of the office, so I'm going to try and get a picture or two up on the @Identityrpg twitter. Charles has a 3 monitor setup that looks pretty sick, the lucky dog... Oh! Have I mentioned that there's a channel dedicated to posting small WIP models and other treats in the discord? It's #new_media! Check it out when you get a chance! The fiber internet for the office has also finally been installed! Like, completely! No more router issues or anything, I'm typing this up from a wired connection right now! With this, I should be able to join the stream later today so I can finally speak with the other developers. I'm very excited, and I hope to see some of you there! I don't think I'll actually be playing a game (I'm absolutely trash at most shooters but I swear I'm gunna train up for module two), but I'm very interested in getting my voice out there and meeting some of the developers that I haven't had a chance to speak with yet! Thanks for sticking around everyone! I'll get more information to you ASAP! Have a good one! -B

So I heard that delivery vans were going to be part of the game, but heres the real question for me - what about truck driving? I'm aware there's an emphasis on the driving in the game and also the realism of this, so surely truck driving should be a part of this game? Especially if the map is going to be roughly the same size as Altis

I don't know about the gas pumps and restaurants too much but I do know you have own a restaurant I believe. There will not be a stock market as of right now. A ton of people have asked for it but they have a very small dev team and it would be a pain to add it right now. They did mention that they might add it later. The combat/wounds will be very realistic but I don't know to what extent.

I just hope it goes smoothly for them with this release date.(I say this release date because they did at one time have a vague release date/window before.) This is because in development something unexpected can happen. Like a big bug you thought that was simple ends up going deeper then you first thought. So it ends up delaying and holding back development. Then after you finely fix said bug you find that there was more bugs hidden behind that big one and so on. It should be noted as well It can also go the other way too. Finding one big fixing it then it fixes lots of other bugs.

There won't be any digging or fossil-hunting in the game so I'm afraid that this won't be possible. You could always suggest it as an idea but I'm very much certain it would just get shot down and rejected as it wouldn't be fun. Nobody really wants to be walking around digging for fossils. Plus, that would be an absolute nightmare to code; randomly digging up the ground in an open-world multiplayer game. It wouldn't work and would be too much effort for something that nobody really wants. Sorry.

good idea! it would be cool to design your own company vehicle aswell
  22. 1 point
I believe current vehicles will be awesome with their being motorbikes and cars with some being emergency vehicles. However, I was thinking of something else that could be added to cars. This is when I came up with the idea of allowing companies to own custom vehicle decals for their specific company, a bit like a company vehicle. This is like trucks that are already going to be in the game that works for companies. I believe allowing people that own a company should have this extra ability. This would allow them to advertise their company to people and make companies become more well-known as in real life. For example: I obviously don't expect British Gas to be in the game but as an example of being able to add custom decals to a company car, allowing workers for your company to drive them to their certain tasks or to and fro work thus advertising their company. This is just a little touch that I think would be quite interesting in the game and I think it is quite unique; I haven't seen one person suggest this. Anyway, I don't think it would be the most amazing thing in the game but a fairly interesting touch. Thanks in advance.

I would like to have my own garage to do custom work. Take an ordinary car/truck and pimp it up. Not sure the car thing is happening any time soon though.

If you're reffering to like Collect/Sale old fashioned and also newer ones , then yes count me in.
  25. 1 point
I can say indeed it will be a great thing, but I also can say that there will be company vehicles for sure I would assume but I don't know to what limit. I will get back on this one to be sure I have not got it wrong. EDIT: So depending on the type of vehicle, your corporation logo will appear on it, but not all vehicles since not all vehicles can be used for delivery jobs. But as far as custom sprays/decals outside of the corporation logo, you can't paint on it as if it were a canvas.

White Mask looks over at Marco...and then the one who offers his a pop. "You know what guys.." He stands up walking over to the bag of money. He bends down picking it up and then setting it on the desk in front of Marco. He unzips the bag and reaches in pulling out a twenty dollar bill. "Im just going to take this for some gas money. But you know what Marco next time you want my help we go fifty fifty and you can split it up between your cut with your crew." White mask pockets the twenty and then pulls out a zippo. With a flick of the wrist the zippo pops open. His thumbs strikes the wheel to light the zippo. He leans forward into light from the flame. "Just so you know Im not messing around with you anymore, If you ever want me to tag along I want to make sure you know that im worth every penny of my service." He drops the zippo right into the bag of money as it lights up on Marco's desk, a evil laugh is heard coming from White Mask. He steps back and walks away. "Toodaloo Marco call me when you want to do business." With that White Mask left Marco's safe house. Night has fallen over the island. We find ourselves at the only place on the island for crazies, murders, and the insane. That's right we are at the Island Asylum. Dr. Allen who is their warden? their doctor? I dunno he is their keeper of the asylum I would say he owns it. Its his way or the highway so to speak. Lighting cracked over the skies of the island and a thunder storm was rolling in. Dr Allen was in his office doing some paper work like doctors do in their office. The lights flicker and soon goes out due to the storm. The generator kicks on as Dr. Allen looks around. White Mask stands behind Dr. Allen and grabs him by the hair slamming his face into his desk, and leans down hold him down. "Hiya Doc, how the hell are you? Im doing great thanks for ask." He pushes him down harder into the desk and lets go walking around the desk to takes a seat in front Dr. Allen. White Mask plops down and leans back placing his feet up on the table. Dr. Allen sits up fixing his glasses and looks over at him. "You know one of these days you will be in here with these guys that I help, you do know that right?" Dr. Allen says picking up his pen and fixes his paperwork. "Oh Doc come on." He holds his hands out to his side "Everyone loves a good Villain." He laughs and claps his hands together and then rest them arm rest. "What do you want White Mask...All's I have to do is call the cops and they will be here in the matter of seconds. Because my guards are cops and you will be locked into this asylum and you will have to do what I say, when I say." He smiles. "Whoa whoa whoa calm down Dr. Jekyll I am only here for business, that is all." White Mask reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out and envelope. He tosses it on the desk in front of the Dr. Allen. "Inside there is 200,000 dollars..I know right that is more than you make in year..or even years right! Its all yours to do whatever you want with. you just have to do one maybe two three four five things for me..its really simple." Dr. Allen looks at the envelope and then pushes his glasses up on his nose. "What is your demands?" "Great!" He removes his feet from the desk and scoots his chair closer to the desk and places his elbows on the desk and rest his head in his hands. "I want you to release your people inside this asylum." "your kidding me right? I have over 125 patience and 50 employees here in the asylum. If I let them out they will kill everyone inside here god knows what they will do to this city. I can't do that." Dr. Allen says tapping his pen on the desk. "Doc, Doc, Doc its 200,000 dollars you can get more patience. Just say that the power went out and their cells door open and bam boom now they are all on the loose in the city." Tilts his head. "Hmmmm?" "No get out and take your dirty money.." Dr. Allen grabs he envelope and tosses it right at White Mask hitting him in the mask. White Mask laughs and stands up grabbing the envelope and tosses it back at on his desk. "You are making things not so good in my favor here Doc." White Mask walks over to Dr. Allen's side and quickly grabs him by the head again slamming his face into the desk once again. "Im trying to be nice here and give you money but you still say no?" Dr. Allen winches "Fuck no you Psycho!" White mask twitches pressing his head down harder into the desk. "Psycho? did you call me a psycho? you want to see a psycho? Because I will show you a psycho!" White Mask makes a fist with his other hand and hold his head down.White Mask starts to punch down on his Dr. Allen's face. Yeah he would hit his nose and check but he would also hit desk at the same time making a nice cool blood splatter on the desk and his fist. After about five punches and broken glasses he stops "Deal?" White Mask says. Dr. Allen spits up blood. "NO PSYCHO!" White Mask twitches once again. He lets go of Dr. Allen and grabs his collar of his shirt lifting his head from the table up. He spins Doc around and picks him up slamming his body on the desk. White Mask put all his weight on him and covers his mouth up with the blood hand, grabbing the pen that he was tapping on the desk. "You want to see a psycho, how about a lunatic?" *click* White Mask clicks the pen and slams the pen into Dr. Allen's right eye. Dr. Allen screams in pain but he holds his bloody hand over his mouth to muff the sound and on top of that the thunder and lighting has rolled over top of the asylum and started to rain. Blood, and white stuff popped and oozed out of Dr. Allen's eye as White Mask twisted, turned and dug deeper inside the eye socket, until he pulled the whole eye out. White Mask lets go of Dr. Allen as he holds his well where his eye use to be. White Mask takes a seat up on desk and looks at Dr. Allen eye turning it around on the pen. "Do we have a deal now?" He laughs patting Dr. Allen on the leg. Dr. Allen slides into his chair breathing heavy and in rage, holding his eye. "FINE!" He grabs the envelope open his desk draw and tosses the envelope inside. He reaches over to his computer and presses a couple buttons. White Mask looks over at the security cams seeing doors open. "Wonderful!" White Mask hops off the desk and tosses the pen eye into the trash. "See you around Doc.." He laughs and is heard talking to himself as he walks out of the office "See you around...haha..hes only got one eye to see out of..." A creepy laugh is heard down the hall and then a gun shots and screaming, people calling for help is heard. Dr. Allen would grab his gun from the desk, and walk over to the door closing it and locking it. He is still holding his eye and looks out the window. White Mask is seen sitting on top of what looks to be a bread truck with the back doors open. He would point to the truck for the crazies, murders and lunatics to get in. White Mask looks up and waves to Dr. Allen. Doc flicks off White Mask and then closes the blinds.

Simms and Sanchez are outside of the police station. Simms reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of smokes. "Hey man its cool we will get him don't worry there is no where to run on this island." Sanchez said as Simms lit up a cig. "I don't know Sanchez this guy is different. This guy has a purpose on this island." Simms says blowing out the smoke from his nose. He looks around and looks over at his 1969 Pontiac GTO jet black. He looks over at Sanchez and takes another hit from his cig. "Sanchez you want to go for a ride?" Simms says looking over at him and then flicks his cig away. "Dude you know we can't go after White Mask I know that is what you are thinking." Simms smiles. Another officer walks outside towards them and stop. Officer: " He got away." Simms: " I told you guys that he is always one step ahead of you guys. Thanks Frank." Frank nods and walks away to his squad car. Simms raises his eyebrow and looks at Sanchez. "Soooo want to go for a ride?" He smiles as he pats Sanchez on the shoulder and they make their way over to the 1969 Pontiac GTO. Sanchez and Simms take off to the streets. "We have to think where he is going to be next" Simms says. Sanchez turns on the police scanner to see if there is anything going on. He turns it down just a little and then grabs his cell phone. "I will make some calls someone should have seen him by now." Simms nods "Good Idea." Just then Simms phone starts to ring. Simms reaches into his pocket and places it by his ear. "Simms here." He looks over at Sanchez and mouths "My Daughter" and points to his phone. "Hey how are you and mum doing?" "Good good" "Yep, I will be there" "Yes I will bring you a cake" "With barbie on it yes." "Alright love you too, tell my mum I will call her later ok love you" Simms hangs up his phone and tosses it into cup holder. Sanchez gets off the phone. "Alright check this out they ditched the red car and got a new one in a parking garage. Of course the cops didn't see them leave but they must of left because there is no trace of them. But good news is that I have an informant on the streets that saw White Mask stopped and got a hot dog and then took off. after that he stopped at the bank, and then they pulled into a warehouse where there was a shoot out. There was a black SUV that left but thats all I know let me make a few more calls and we will find him." Sanchez gets back on his phone as Simms smiles and grips the steering wheel. "Your going down White Mask."

Name: Mike L Smith Appearance: 6' 0", brown eyes, short black hair, Race/ethnicity/nationality: African-American From: Los Angeles, CA Personality: silent (unable to talk) Education: none Misc Facts: gang-banger Background: Was born and raised in Los Angeles and is unable to talk. His dad was a drug dealer and taught him how to grow weed to make money. When he was 16, one night at 1:00 AM. LAPD showed up while his father was doing drug dealing, while he was with his father. Another guy was armed and shot one of the officers. He and his father were running away as the guy tried to shoot the officers. The friend was shot and killed. His father tried to get into his sedan, but his father was shot. As the son watched his father dying. his father told him "son, go. I will see you when I get home." Police were chasing him until he crashed in the forest near his house. He ran off into the deep forest and police never found him. He went to his house. The day before his 17th birthday he was on the news. LAPD searched their wanted list and found Mike Smith. The mother discovered this from the news. She called her friend to take her son and his r34. Her friend came to their house. His Mother was crying in the living room. He wishes his mother would come with him, but his mother refused. Her friend took him and r34 and took him to the ship. He was on the ship for a total of 4 days, getting very little sleep. Once he was on land and he got into his r34. He stayed at the hotel. He texted his mother and asked her how she is doing. She texted back saying "I love you son. I'll try to get my flight tickets tomorrow". His mother never arrived. He tried to text her the day after she was to arrive, but there was no response. He watched the news after his last text to her. He received no response He turned to the news. The reporter told a story about his mother being shot and killed by an unknown criminal. He ran outside of his hotel room, crouched down and cried. He wished that his mother would have left with him at same time so this would not have happened.

I agree. The whole reason I want to be a police officer is to maintain order so everyone can enjoy their Identity in peace. It would be cool to have respectable people serve together so we can have civilians look up to us and know that we will protect them, not troll them or take advantage of them. I'd like to take this role very seriously.

We've had a lot of questions about sex in Identity, and we don't really have many reservations against it, other than the possibility that Identity could be banned from sites like Twitch, Youtube, and potentially from Steam. Sex in Identity could add an intimate element to the game, but it just isn't worth the risk of losing exposure over this single feature.

Hello there. It has come to our attention that there has been some confusion in regards to claiming Kickstarter pledges and which pledge you actually will receive due to different Shop pledge amounts. All Kickstarter backers will receive the original Kickstarter pledge rewards, regardless of the pledged amount that shows up in the My Account page. Meaning that if you (in example) pledged for the $30 Kickstarter pledge you will receive the $50 Shop pledge, as this is the shop equivalent of the Kickstarter pledge. I hope this clears up some confusion and if there are any more questions feel free to contact one of the Staff members through the use of private messages. Kind regards, DJScias, on behalf of the Identity Staff Team
