2 pointsMalka Biographical Information Name Malka Meaning Queen Gender Male Species Lion Familial Information Family Unnamed mother Mufasa (adoptive father; briefly) Sarabi (adoptive mother; briefly) Simba (adoptive brother; briefly) Media Information Appears Simba's New Brother “ Everyone thinks I'm clever and brave, but I always get lost. {So I stay humble and do my best.} —Malka to Simba ” Malka is a lion who makes his first and only appearance in Simba's New Brother. He is a friend and brief stepbrother of Simba. Contents Appearance Malka has pale orange fur, red eyes, and brown ear rims. His most distinguishing feature is the unique black ear tufts that sprout from his ears, as well as the brown tuft of his tail in contrast to the black tuft on his head. Personality “ I have lost my pride so many times and every time I get scared. Then, I thought I'd lost you as well! —Malka to Simba ” Malka is a fun-loving and curious cub. Though he attempts to be brave, he often gets scared and lost. He is outgoing in terms of making friends, as he openly expresses his opinion and doesn't hesitate to ask strange cubs to play with him. He is a bit of a show-off in the respect that he will fake bravery in order to receive praise. This often leads to him being boastful and proud of his accomplishments. This changes, however, when he reveals his true feelings to Simba; after the truth is out, Malka is relieved. By the end of the story, he is less prideful and more confident in his own skin, even with his faults. Causing him to develop the greatest of leadership skills. Information Backstory “ Mufasa: That little cub is very brave, whoever he is! Simba: Pah, he only saved a couple of half-eaten bones! —Mufasa and Simba about Malka ” Malka is introduced as a cub from another pride who lived during Mufasa's reign. His mother appears briefly at the end of the comic but is not named. Simba's New Brother “ Mufasa: In the meantime, he is welcome to stay with our pride. Will you keep an eye on him, Simba? Simba: B-b-but what if we never find his pride? Mufasa: Well, then he'll stay with us forever. Sarabi: And you will have a new brother! —Mufasa, Sarabi, and Simba about Malka ” Simba and Nala are play-fighting near Pride Rock when Malka approaches them. A lioness sitting nearby asks her companion if she's ever seen Malka before, but the other lioness denies this, assuming that the cub has lost his pride. As Malka draws nearer, he is impressed by Nala's skills and the fact that "a girl lion" can knock Simba over. He tells Simba that he didn't even stand a chance against her. Simba stiffly replies that he had only been playing-fighting with Nala, and Malka compliments Nala on her "beautiful name." He then introduces himself and asks if he can play with her. Simba is disgusted and calls Malka a "slimeball" behind his back. Malka scares off two hyenas As they are about to play, Malka spots two hyenas stealing food from the lionesses. He rushes at them, growling, and alerts the two lionesses sitting nearby. The lionesses praise him for his bravery and chase away the hyenas. Mufasa is impressed with Malka's behavior, but Simba protests that he'd just saved a couple of half-eaten bones. Sarabi comes up to Mufasa and tells him the cub's name. She then reports that Malka had told her how he had lost his pride and that he had been searching for them for days. Mufasa tells Zazu to keep a look out for the cub's pride. He then announces that, in the meantime, Malka was welcome to stay with their pride. He asks Simba to keep an eye on him and Simba asks what would happen if they never found his pride. Mufasa replies that Malka would stay forever, and Sarabi adds that Simba would have a new brother. Simba is disgusted and inwardly resents Malka for sharing his position as prince. As he has these thoughts, Malka approaches him and tells him that Nala had left with Sarafina. He then asks Simba if he wanted to play with him. Simba, wanting to get rid of Malka, decides to take him to his favorite hiding place. As they run off, Malka tells Simba that Mufasa wouldn't regret taking him in, and that the king now had two brave lion sons. Simba thinks to himself that it hopefully wouldn't last for long. As they venture deeper into the gorge where Simba is taking them, Malka asks Simba how they would find their way back. Simba tells him that it wasn't a problem, and thinks to himself, "At least not for me!" He then tells Malka that they were going to play hide-and-seek. He tells Malka to count while he goes to hide. Malka hesitantly agrees to this. As Simba runs away, he laughs at Malka, convinced that he would never find his pride now. But then Malka cries out after Simba, begging him to come back. At last, Simba complies, afraid that Malka could really be in trouble. But when he reaches Malka, the cub is in no danger. Simba asks why he's crying, and Malka admits that he's scared. Simba asks him what he's scared of, and Malka admits that everyone thought he was brave and clever, but he was really always getting lost. He tells Simba that he'd lost his pride so many times and was always frightened of being alone. He was afraid that he had lost Simba, too. Simba leaves Malka on his own Simba tells Malka that he would never leave him; he had promised to look after him. Malka is moved by how nice Simba has been, but admits that he misses his mother. Simba understands, and decides to lead Malka back to Pride Rock to see if Mufasa had news about Malka's pride. The two cubs start walking back to Pride Rock. On the way, Malka expresses his relief that Simba now knows the truth. Simba is kind about it and tells Malka that he had been brave to scare off those hyenas. Just as the words are out of his mouth, Simba spots the hyenas approaching them from behind. The hyenas give chase, eager now that the cubs are no longer defended by Mufasa and his pride. But Malka formulates a plan and leads Simba under a tree root. The hyenas can't fit through the small opening and the cubs get away. Upon reaching Pride Rock, Simba sees that Zazu has brought a visitor. Malka immediately recognizes the strange lioness as his mother. The two unite, and his mother asks him how many times she'd told him not to run off on his own. Meanwhile, Zazu explains to Mufasa that Malka's pride lives on the other side of the mountains, not far from Pride Rock. Nala, who has joined the group, tells Malka that it was nice meeting him. Simba then invites him to come back and visit again. Malka accepts their offer, but suggests that Zazu come pick him up next time, so he wouldn't get lost. This is the last time Malka is either seen or mentioned. Until now as he rises to the political forefronts of Identity under a new name - Lucious Times.

2 pointsHey @aikabwee, as soon as there is a release date for the town square module you know when the prives will rise. Yes, you can buy the 15$ package and upgrade for another 15$ to the second package. Just visit the shop site again while logged in and the shop will show you the upgrade possibilities.

2 pointsI agree, but I also think that if you look at it from another perspective; perhaps they haven't made another Dev blog in a while because of how hard they are working on the game itself right now so they are more focused on that. If they have to keep stopping to make Dev Blogs, which, of course are very nice and help keep the community informed, they won't get very far if they keep stopping or slowing down to make them. I definitely agree with you that it'd be good to see another Dev Blog shortly, but with such a tiny Dev Team (in comparison to larger game development companies) it must be difficult to find the time to make them. Please Quote me in any replies regarding my post.

1 pointGreetings everyone, Today I'd like to update you guys on some progress for Identity. Below, you will find new pictures that haven't been shown to the public eye yet. We know you are waiting so eagerly to play, but please remember everything takes time. Thanks to everyone who has shown the developers support thus far!

1 pointThis is just an idea that i think it would be cool to implement in the future to create more diverse characters. The basic concept is to provide the players with a set of front/back/sides hair pieces they can combine to create their own hairstyle. I will add some pictures to illustrate the concept. Please take into account i used already made art (females:Pichichama // males: PrinceOfRedRoses) so your ideal hairstyle could not be represented.

1 pointI can see this religious discussion getting very out of hand, very quickly. Anyway, I think it's still important to have it in the game. Why restrict people's rights to roleplay as themselves in another world just because of their religion? I understand there will be conflict but there's already conflict in the real world, this is just a video game. They are allowing same-sex marriage within the game (huge props to the Devs for that <3) so why can't we allow a few simple pieces of religious clothing?

1 pointHello @EmmaSolstice Welcome to the community! I can tell you that it is purely your choice depending on how much you want to help the developers out in funding this game. I do also recommend the founder package or above like @monokoi said, you'll have access to the 3 modules and Beta before the full game release and well it just means you won't have to wait as long to enjoy the game. have a nice day! - LuckyDuck.
-
1 pointThe game isn't out yet. Neither is the beta. Neither is any of the modules. When the town square module is released it will be from some sort of first party launcher and it will be on PC. At final release it will be on Steam. They have thought about console but nothing is final and certain.
-
1 pointMoin, moin Emma! I'd recommend getting the founders pledge or above. This way you'll get acces to the early version of the game. Paramedics / EMT is an option, have a look at this thread to hook up with other medics,

1 pointIt was just to give you some ideas. Wouldn't you want to do a screening first before you pick a "pocket EMS"? I would be willing but I have no idea how good or not I will be at it. Sometimes I would also think having the "pocket EMS" on call would be better. That way if everyone goes down the "pocket EMS'' could come after everything cools down a bit. All would depend on how the death system/bleed out system works in the end of course. Since anything in idea faze could end up changing once implemented. Could even have it where the "pocket EMS" stays a bit in the back out of sight but still close enough to fix up when it goes down. Since you would not want your "pocket EMS" to be targeted. I know it will be fairly new at EMS work since I have so far not really done any of that in games before.(I have in fantasy games tried being a healer.) Hopefully this game is a bit more centered around reality when it comes to EMS work. I understand how it still needs to be fun and all of that. Just would like a bit more then how fantasy games normally do healers.

1 pointDev blog should be out in the end of this month. (Source is them telling me on live stream) It could be very soon.
-
1 pointall a dev blog really needs to be is a "- (insert what they have finished, or started)" - finished interior of x building - finished modeling y - started interior of z building Dev blogs do a lot to both help the dev's, and keep people interested/updated. They could also throw in a checklist so they know what else there is that should be done, etc etc. That's my opinion on them, at least.

1 pointThe Hamilton Party is in the worse phase possible, the phase all parties had to go through. That stage is the start up phase! Where everyone is asking questions cause they don't know you or what you stand for! They have to figure if they like your character or not! After this phase passes we'll get to see how much potential and influence the party has!
-
1 pointEasy to say that when you are the leader of the Hamilton Party.. Maybe so, but the top candidates in the poll have been here for months or even years, so I really doubt they'd be the ones to just drop out.

1 pointFor private server you will 99% have to. For public servers if there is a slot open for you then you will go through a academy (tutorial) teaching you the basics and then you start off your career! There will be no FBI but there will be detective and SWAT. You will probably have to get a certain amount of hours in and a slot to do those on public servers.
-
1 pointThat is exactly right mate, upon full release the game will cost $45 USD on steam, but after the first module, most if not all the packages will either be gone or raised in price. @Fain It is entirely up to you but if it makes you feel better, I have put $250 in the game while I have also pledged a further $90 for my friend and so I will lose out a lot but I am certain and will never doubt these devs as my personal Opinion. My Moderator opinion says, if you doubt the game because of lack in content shown, hold off until you are confident about pledging as I personally think it will be annoying/ hard for the devs when they take the money into the budget before you decide you want your refund. Choose wisely, but there is a video on its way soon.
-
1 pointOnly you can answer that my friend. It would be safer to keep your money and wait for more gameplay/features to be released so you know it's the game you want. Then again, buying in now assures you early access and possible items that would benefit your experience if you do end up liking the game. It's $30 to get the modules, beta access and full game or only $15 for the full game. Is $30 worth playing the game in it's early forms or would you rather just pay the $15 and then watch Let's Plays of those modules and beta? I can almost assure you that the game will be more then $15 upon release (and possibly go up in price after Town Square) so you might just want to buy in now which may save you money later.

1 pointWow, what a month. It's been busy here at Asylum as usual, so let's get down to the interesting stuff! As expected, our current focus is on the Town Square so that we can get it out to you as soon as possible. We're finalising the interior of the library and art gallery (shared within one building) and adding polish to the environment. Once the clothing store interior is complete following that, the Town Square environment is ready to go. We'll continuously be adding more art after release though; specifically for house furnishings, decorations and clothing. In addition to the environment art, Miroslav (character artist) has been creating all sorts of hair assets which allow us to show hair appropriately when wearing a hat or helmet. This is a big task for him as it means making variations to match the hat options for each length of hair, but in the end it'll ensure your hair always looks as you'd expect when wearing headgear. Hair under a hat; work in progress Right next to the clothing shop you'll find a bicycle store where you can get a sneak preview of some of the bikes you'll be able to ride around in the full Identity release. We showed you a bicycle work in progress last blog post and now you can see the finished result of that below. This image will give you a rough idea of the detail level you'll see in Identity's vehicles. Ridable bicycle With more final systems coming online for the Town Square release, we now have functioning phones. Each player will start with a cellphone, although you'll be able to upgrade it with three mobile OS options available. The phone OS' each have a unique and interesting style. Characters also have a designated phone number assigned when they're created; you'll be able to get a custom number for a fee. These phones work just as you'd expect. You're able to dial up another player and speak with voice remotely. Businesses can even get a business line which, when called, will contact a member of that corporation who's online. Shot from an internal system test: advertising While the art of the billboard above isn't final, it gives you a very good idea of what you can expect in Identity for advertising. That's right, you can really publish messages around the world through billboards and other means. Corporations and those running for government office can purchase billboard space to help get their message out. You'll select a graphical template from a large list of options and then attach a brief message or other customization to make it your own. These billboards can also be moderated by the server operators. There are other similar advertising systems, too. For example digital road signs can be made to show custom messages by the current government. We can't wait to show you more of Identity, and we'll soon have that opportunity with the release of an overhauled website. Those current pledge packages are about to go away forever, and some of the rewards won't be available for purchase again after the new website changes. Also, follow us on our Twitch channel if you'd like to stop in and ask questions of the developers. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you'll find a few developers playing a random game from 4pm EST to 5pm EST. Ask any questions and they'll be happy to answer on stream. Catch some of Identity's developers hard at work and see how they make the magic happen: we'll be providing development streaming dates and times on Twitter, soon! -- John VanderZwet

1 pointThe majority of businesses are banks I see in this game. This also is ridiculous as there isn't an FDIC insurance fallback. With a vast majority of people playing criminals or that will have a criminal tendency (ie. bankers siphoning funds) the ability to protect money is limited. Unless the game designers have some sort of insurance against loss this banking institute is a mute point in this game. Unless these factors come into play: Death is permanent Jail is based on court rulings (ie real life 1 year, 6 month, 3 months of game time) Otherwise, this game will just be about making drugs, selling drugs, hookers, murder and everything else second life is now.

1 pointFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.
