I think a week sounds perfect. Open up the polls between Friday and Sunday. So people have the full weekends to vote. Then whoever wins will start Monday, and get to reign till Sunday. That way, most people will be able to vote. As I'm guessing most people can play the most during the weekends. And there's no complicated schedule people need to remember. Let's say you're hanging out with your friends, and you're all bored. And you remember it's the weekend. Then why not go and vote! And there's no chance of it being closed to discourage people from finding out if it's closed or not. So they won't go and vote. Because it would suck if you went there, and you found it was closed. If it's open every weekend, you won't have that problem to the same extent. There isn't that much you can do about players who thinks every day of the week are the weekend. And mistakes does happen. But it's not gonna discourage anyone the same way. If you want people to participate, it should be fast, simple, and easy. And readily available. Otherwise, if it's bi-weekly or even monthly... We should be allowed to vote from anywhere, trough some menu options. Like when you log in, a window will pop-up displaying you all the latest news and deals. Which is pretty standard in most MMO's these days. If it's a voting weekend, that pop-up should inform you. And let you vote with a few simple clicks. In my opinion, anyway.

Would be cool to see a parole or probation system. Something peace officers could grant to criminals instead of taking them to jail for petty misdemeanor crimes. Maybe the player stays on probation for a day or two which grants peace officers unlimited search terms? In the real world depending on if an arrest is made you are subject to consent before you can conduct a search of a person otherwise your in violation of their 4th amendment rights (excluding a search incident to arrest or probable cause). I think it would be cool to have a search function as a peace officer on a person and to be able to run people on your MDC to see if they are on parole or probation. I know in the state of California if a subject is on formal probation or parole we have absolute rights to search their person, vehicle, and residence. What are you guys' ideas?

Excuse me for laughing, but that's NOT a lot of officers! A few more would even work! Your previous comments led up to believe you wanted 50 or so cops walking around ready to stop all crime!
  7. 2 points
Okay, now we're critiquing and that's good! Yes, we want citizens to feel safe at night...we all do! Now an officer on every corner is not appropriate. You're mainly working with US, Canada, and UK players and that doesn't appeal very well! So...are you simply suggesting that more officers are out at night?

It definitely would make an uneasy feeling and it's not needed! However, he makes a good point!
  10. 2 points
Your point is clear, but it can't be carried out! We will not be spending majority of our taxes on patrol, I don't want people uneasy, and it'd be horrible for the economy! Yes, we could argue it makes people feel safer! But we could also fight to say it doesn't! You have to poll these types of things and that's what I suggest! In Identity people will be focused on few things, but the primary ones are making money and staying out of jail! Having all these officers limits our money and will cause more people to be in jail! We'd be kissing government healthcare goodbye after paying the officers and then caring for prisoners! Like I said, your point is clear and what your doing is honorable, it just won't work. If your top priority is safety then you can always look into security products just as many other citizens have.

This month in development Another month and another dev blog to keep you updated! I want to start this one by giving a thank you to everyone who's receiving this blog post by email, our backers who are making Identity a reality. It's an exciting time as our team is growing and our pace quickening as a result. Identity's beginning to get more exposure and every pledge we receive helps us produce content faster. It's been slower than we'd like in the past because our team has been tiny, but this growth we're seeing as of late has been opening doors and propelling us forward. As of this month we've now raised over $700,000 USD; a large amount of money and what we've needed to bring on more talent. Talent we've lost to other studios and existing contracts in the past, some of our absolute best, is now returning to Asylum Entertainment to work on Identity full-time. We're really looking forward to the work from those being added to our roster, which will result in more clothing options as well as much prettier environments. We're also looking to pick up another programmer and a new community manager very shortly, to improve our PR situation and give you guys a more transparent view into development. Case variations for one of three phones in Identity With our art team growing with top industry talent, we're also making some good progress in content programming. Our elevator system has been finalized after being re-hashed. This elevator system is used in the Town Square, and throughout Identity where apartments exist, to bring players up to their lofted homes. The interesting part is these function like real elevators, and you'll see other players in them going to and from their floors. They act as loading zones, so instead breaking your immersion with a loading screen we load the apartment and it's customizations in the background while you ride the elevator. By the time the door opens everything's in place and you don't even notice that you've moved into a special instance of the world. Art of the Town Square When creating new environments, we first have our concept artist draw up a layout and artistic design. From there, environment artists create the 3D assets from that piece and a level designer places them in the world you inhabit. We're pleased to have our incredibly talented concept artist, Alexander, back in full-swing as we prepare the final pieces of environment necessary for the Town Square. Clothing store concept; hotel and art gallery in rear The clothing store is interesting in Town Square because it's operating on a system we've created for many computer-controlled shops in Identity. It has a fully functioning shoplifting mechanic. In most games you walk up to an NPC (non-player character) and interact to purchase items. You then simply walk away with your items. Stores in Identity are a different story, and are unique in the gaming world. You'll add items from racks and shelves to your cart. You can then walk into the dressing room to preview those items (assuming it's clothing) or walk up to the register to pay. What if you don't pay and simply walk out the door with your cart? Shoplifting is a reality in Identity, although it's often not recommended. If you're not skilled, and most people won't be, you'll set off alarms and have a hard time getting away. You'll likely spend time in jail for the attempt. Expensive items can also not be shoplifted for game balance purposes. Even something so simple as using a shop gives freedom and oppportunity not found in any game before. Last month we showed you a bicycle which will be ridable in Identity. Below you'll see the bicycle shop concepts for the Town Square. While you won't be able to ride them in Town Square, you'll be able to browse many options which will be available to you. Bicycle shop concept for the Ash Hill town square These final two interiors are being created by our artists as we speak, and are the last environments required for Town Square's release, along with some minor systems programming and polish. Art gallery/library concept art, previously shown Art gallery and library in-game, without player art The near future One of our top priorities right now is to give all of you who have been waiting a glimpse of real gameplay in a video. Identity's funding and progress has exploded since we showed you the workings of the housing and apartment systems on YouTube, and now we want you to see vehicles, drug production and weapon systems. I can't promise any dates on this video, but it'll be soon. In fact, I expect you to watch this video before you receive the next dev blog. This coming video is sort of a catalyst, and I can't wait to show you what's in store after it. The Town Square is also getting near the point where we're going to be able to start showing off videos of the gameplay elements you'll find within it, leading up to the public release of the module. These videos will be coming after the previously mentioned video. We do regret how little we've been able to show you thus far. We're a tiny team stretching a small budget to its limits, so things take some time. Now that much of the core exists and other supporting pieces are falling into place, I'm excited that we're now really making progress that can be witnessed. -- John VanderZwet Let's Make Identity Great! Identity's development is going great thanks to the support of people like you, but systems like these take a lot of manpower and resources to create. Identity has an awesome community behind it, but when more people know about what we're creating and our budget grows from pledges, we can not only work faster but we can do more, too. If you're as excited to play Identity as we are making it, help spread the word. The gaming industry has needed a game like Identity for too long; let's make it great together!

Just because you paid them doesn't mean you get to dictate their schedule. You knew that you were purchasing a pre-alpha game, don't complain if you already knew what you were buying into. You are welcome to return it. The first module will be out in late August or September. The full game will be out mid-late 2018. They aren't trying to sell something, they are trying to make something. If they were just interested in the money then they wouldn't offer refunds.

Just because it's the most suggested thing, that does not mean they'll HAVE to add it. Again, they'll maybe add it in the future, but for now, no. Agree Agree. Identity is a kinda a real life simulator, as the developers said themselves. Zombies is definitely not realistic. They have already stated they are going to do something like they do in GTA Online, and as you mentioned. They are planning to do events such as decorating Identity in the winter season up to christmas, and such things like this.

I do not know at all. I suppose you get paid after working, depending on the number of hours you've done, or action. And I think so, it would be logical that the player decides to stop when he want .. I do not see the game to force you to stay connected and play, it would not make sense.

It's coming along nicely guys! Thank you devs for all the hard work, know that the community appreciates it. I know some people are getting a bit impatient with the time its taking but I've come to realize that no matter how much we bicker it isn't going to speed things up at all, so the only thing to do is keep encouraging the devs to keep pushing.

It would take soo much time. Usually the person who gets on parole has to go to prison for a while till he gets his case presented in court. It would be a nice system, but it's too much. It's a feature that isn't really needed.

We've replied to this countless of times before. Please use the search function. It's a useful tool. But to answer, this game will be on Steam once it gets released. And Steam might very well be the only platform it gets released on. If you buy the game here, as a pledge, you will get a Steam key upon release of the game. So no worries, you will not have to re-buy it.

You clearly don't live in so much as a suburban town let alone a country town then. as someone who does let me educate you on the subject for a second time. -clears throat- yes they do. Because there's a lot less crime in rural and suburban areas, and it's a lot cheaper they can justify it. And they do daily.

I'd stated that previously, that only pistols for protection should be allowed. They have to have something though , because the criminals definitely will! What are LEO'S?

Military won't exist, and I sure criminals will find access to guns. If police and criminals are the only ones with gus that's not good for the citizens! Also, the police organization chart has been established, but recommend your idea to @Motown or @HairyGrenade

This topic was created so that candidates and citizens could work together and try to find what's best for the policy foundations in Identity. Peace being the key theme, I'd appreciate you approaching with a little more understanding. Due to your comments, it is clear that you are unaware of some things and saying that I don't mean to belittle I simply wish to explain on behalf of myself and other "members of the identity community". Myself, @ThomasHetch , @JoelKeys and @BobbyCruz have invested time and effort into figuring out the government and what our role in government will be. Between questioning the developers, finding quotes from @Motown himself, digging through all the information we have and trying to piece things together, actively answering questions we know the answers to and willing to remain composed us four are the leading political figures. There's no area for boasting in that, it's simply a fact. The policies we make are based off the information we have, which happens to be a lot of information. When we are unclear on something we ask. It's not a hassle, the moderators and/or developers give us our needed information and we adjust based on what they give us. It is necessary we do this, even in the first module there will be a governor. People running for an in-game political office should not be required to have in game experience when those candidates will be elected at the start of the game. Whoever is first will have zero in-game experience. That's why it's necessary we ask and have all questions answered. On top of that it is important we work together to build the foundation policies that way the beginning isn't that harsh of a time. On my own behalf, I talk down and belittle absolutely no one! I question and advise on what I know, that's to be enough said on that fraction of my response. Real world politician have zero need to be discussed unless reference to policy or character is made. With us all surely having different passions and opinions of those in office at every level of government globally let us refrain from our bashing. A custom at a restaurant can complain about long he has to wait for his food and say that the leaders of the establishment are poor, but the customer knows not the shoes all the leaders must fill. We are the people, all of us, even us four are still citizens of Identity. We just try to go above the standard and do more in this area where our passion lies and we are educated. As I stated before, current candidates are necessary. I don't understand as to why you see me as flawed, my only assumption would be that you were just unaware of the things I just previously stated, and there's no fault in that. If I and the others were running campaigns without a clue of the game or the way things will work then that would be foolish of us and therefore, you would be right in your "flawed" adjective. However, that is not the case. We know enough information to state the things we've stated! As I said before, I don't mean to belittle. This is a topic of peace, I just felt you didn't know some things and needed to be informed!
