Let me expand on that a bit so nobody gets the wrong idea. In any city or town there are "shops" set up around which are player ownable. If you lease one of these structures you can make them whatever you like: a clothing store, or a restaurant/bar in your case. If you get a beachfront property to do this then yep, it's possible! They'll be in high demand, I'm sure. You can swim in water and there's beer and other drinks.

Wow, what a month. It's been busy here at Asylum as usual, so let's get down to the interesting stuff! As expected, our current focus is on the Town Square so that we can get it out to you as soon as possible. We're finalising the interior of the library and art gallery (shared within one building) and adding polish to the environment. Once the clothing store interior is complete following that, the Town Square environment is ready to go. We'll continuously be adding more art after release though; specifically for house furnishings, decorations and clothing. In addition to the environment art, Miroslav (character artist) has been creating all sorts of hair assets which allow us to show hair appropriately when wearing a hat or helmet. This is a big task for him as it means making variations to match the hat options for each length of hair, but in the end it'll ensure your hair always looks as you'd expect when wearing headgear. Hair under a hat; work in progress Right next to the clothing shop you'll find a bicycle store where you can get a sneak preview of some of the bikes you'll be able to ride around in the full Identity release. We showed you a bicycle work in progress last blog post and now you can see the finished result of that below. This image will give you a rough idea of the detail level you'll see in Identity's vehicles. Ridable bicycle With more final systems coming online for the Town Square release, we now have functioning phones. Each player will start with a cellphone, although you'll be able to upgrade it with three mobile OS options available. The phone OS' each have a unique and interesting style. Characters also have a designated phone number assigned when they're created; you'll be able to get a custom number for a fee. These phones work just as you'd expect. You're able to dial up another player and speak with voice remotely. Businesses can even get a business line which, when called, will contact a member of that corporation who's online. Shot from an internal system test: advertising While the art of the billboard above isn't final, it gives you a very good idea of what you can expect in Identity for advertising. That's right, you can really publish messages around the world through billboards and other means. Corporations and those running for government office can purchase billboard space to help get their message out. You'll select a graphical template from a large list of options and then attach a brief message or other customization to make it your own. These billboards can also be moderated by the server operators. There are other similar advertising systems, too. For example digital road signs can be made to show custom messages by the current government. We can't wait to show you more of Identity, and we'll soon have that opportunity with the release of an overhauled website. Those current pledge packages are about to go away forever, and some of the rewards won't be available for purchase again after the new website changes. Also, follow us on our Twitch channel if you'd like to stop in and ask questions of the developers. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you'll find a few developers playing a random game from 4pm EST to 5pm EST. Ask any questions and they'll be happy to answer on stream. Catch some of Identity's developers hard at work and see how they make the magic happen: we'll be providing development streaming dates and times on Twitter, soon! -- John VanderZwet

Frankie lived a rough childhood, his mom was nice to him but his dad beat him. He loved them, but hated them at the same time, he began getting in with some bad people at 16, doing drugs, partying, you name it, once he was 17, on his birthday he did something extremely stupid, he got in a fight with several other people, breaking his arm but beating their heads in, he was arrested for assault, a few years later, he got out. After serving his time Frankie decided to change his life around and took every legal stray job he could find. After a few years of saving he finally decided to move away from his old friends and his family. Even though he kept trying to get a stable jobs, with many in the private security sector, he couldn't quite stay away from a life of crime. After moving to Ash Hill he found a made man in the Luprano Family @Andrew811 who needed someone for a job. Although hesitant at first Frankie soon realized that he needed the money. So his life of crime started and his life of loneliness and regularity ended.

I don't know how big Town Square is but one thing I want to do in Identity is to buy an RV and go on a road Trip across the map. Will this be possible.

I'll take a stab at this! 01. We need to do proper play-testing and experimenting before I can answer this one, one way or another. I can say it'll be considered, but it comes down to gameplay and balance more than anything else. 02. Yes, eventually you'll even have access to it for playing around in Town Square. 03. Yes. 04. Not a different headquarters. The way that SWAT works is that when an event occurs which warrants SWAT reaction, SWAT officers will be notified and can report to a nearby HQ. While at the HQ they'll gear up and then deploy together via a SWAT APC/truck. This truck isn't a drivable vehicle, it's an automated system to deploy the SWAT people to the scene. SWAT is limited to the area of the event, as their equipment is very powerful.

Not sure, maybe same HQ but different part of the building.

Official Answer for you guys: 13:57 - James: Motown, can cops be looted when killed? 13:57 - Motown: nope 13:58 - Motown: Cops are issued their equipment, and don't have to pay for it, so allowing other players to just take that free equipment would be incredibly exploitable 13:58 - Motown: Cops would be dying intentionally so their friends could get their firearms

This topic was created so that candidates and citizens could work together and try to find what's best for the policy foundations in Identity. Peace being the key theme, I'd appreciate you approaching with a little more understanding. Due to your comments, it is clear that you are unaware of some things and saying that I don't mean to belittle I simply wish to explain on behalf of myself and other "members of the identity community". Myself, @ThomasHetch , @JoelKeys and @BobbyCruz have invested time and effort into figuring out the government and what our role in government will be. Between questioning the developers, finding quotes from @Motown himself, digging through all the information we have and trying to piece things together, actively answering questions we know the answers to and willing to remain composed us four are the leading political figures. There's no area for boasting in that, it's simply a fact. The policies we make are based off the information we have, which happens to be a lot of information. When we are unclear on something we ask. It's not a hassle, the moderators and/or developers give us our needed information and we adjust based on what they give us. It is necessary we do this, even in the first module there will be a governor. People running for an in-game political office should not be required to have in game experience when those candidates will be elected at the start of the game. Whoever is first will have zero in-game experience. That's why it's necessary we ask and have all questions answered. On top of that it is important we work together to build the foundation policies that way the beginning isn't that harsh of a time. On my own behalf, I talk down and belittle absolutely no one! I question and advise on what I know, that's to be enough said on that fraction of my response. Real world politician have zero need to be discussed unless reference to policy or character is made. With us all surely having different passions and opinions of those in office at every level of government globally let us refrain from our bashing. A custom at a restaurant can complain about long he has to wait for his food and say that the leaders of the establishment are poor, but the customer knows not the shoes all the leaders must fill. We are the people, all of us, even us four are still citizens of Identity. We just try to go above the standard and do more in this area where our passion lies and we are educated. As I stated before, current candidates are necessary. I don't understand as to why you see me as flawed, my only assumption would be that you were just unaware of the things I just previously stated, and there's no fault in that. If I and the others were running campaigns without a clue of the game or the way things will work then that would be foolish of us and therefore, you would be right in your "flawed" adjective. However, that is not the case. We know enough information to state the things we've stated! As I said before, I don't mean to belittle. This is a topic of peace, I just felt you didn't know some things and needed to be informed!

TBH, I'm just gonna make the best with what I got. I'm going to make my own weed shop, try to become a Lawyer at the same time not for the money, but because I believe there will be quite a few cops who just try to arrest people for any small detail, and I want people to be happy in Identity not to decide whether or not to log on because of the chance to be arrested by an annoying ass cop, but now that they know that I will defend them maybe they'll be on 24/7 lol #hopeforthebest

With the current configuration, which also applies to civilian phones, people won't hear what the police are saying in response, but they will hear what the cop standing near them is saying. Just as it is in real life if you're standing beside someone on a phone.

(Ok so i'm pretty much making this to have fun and to get friendships and relationships etc. hashed out before the actual game comes out. Have fun.) Chandler Walker's eyes opened slowly as he groaned at the sound of his alarm clock. As he slams his fist down to turn it off, he jolts up realizing he forgot to do his chemistry homework for class. "ah crap. Mr. Remmington's gonna kill me. Again." He recently started his senior year in his new high school and he was definitely not off to a good start. Things weren't going his way. He wasn't the cool new kid or the athletic new kid. He was the ignored new kid. It was pretty annoying too. He put on his Hawaiian shirt, cargo pants, vans shoes and glasses, he was ready to go. Or not. He forgot his backpack. Now he was ready to go. Chandler grabbed his car keys and drove to school. "Wow day 4. I ponder of what amazing discoveries are headed my way." He said in a very sarcastic tone. The bell rang. He was late to class, again. As he hurried down the hall, the asshole, George Fitzgerald stopped him, pushed him around a little then socked him in the stomach so hard that the air was knocked right out of him. He then walked away laughing. As Chandler sat down on the floor, trying to recover, he talked to himself. "Wow. High school stereotypes become reality in senior year."

There won't be Airlines and Tourism may be tough since there technically won't be any tourists. But there will be banks. Idk about the computer thing but I do know you can upgrade your phone in game. Whether that will be through NPCs or actual business' I am unsure. I would assume through NPCs or Online "Ebay" but you would have to ask the developers.

Okay, perfect! So we settle on free healthcare and doctor salaries through the government! Exactly what should those salaries be? I lean towards $94,000 a year.
  32. 1 point
By doctor fess I mean the bill! You said doctors get salaries and I understand that, but when you go to the hospital there is a hospital bill! Depending on your needs determines the cost! So is government paying doctors and paying these hospital bills?
  33. 1 point
So doctors are given salaries from government and healthcare is paid from government? Where will the money from the doctors fees go? To the doctors? Do the doctors get salaries and payment for fees! I say doctors get a set salary and there is no fee for any type of healthcare! Government well-paid salaries that make it to where health fees are okay being free for doctors!
  34. 1 point
100% free market would be sitting back and not regulating anything! It would be letting doctors have 100% control!

@URSAMAJOR03 And yes I support a free market... that's why I wish for private healthcare!
  36. 1 point
No more than $2000 per needed operation! Insurance will be through doctor offices! No more than $500 monthly! The industry will be stable with further laws! Laws! Lower their rates, it's their plans under the governments laws!

I still find it so amusing that people want to continuously rant about all the things we're not seeing. Again, as I've stated in many of the rebuttals to all the stupid "the game is a scam" comments -- this team HAS developed a released add on before. Now while you're saying, oh it's just an add on, they didn't have to make the assets or anything for the game, just easy development work. No, it proves to us that they get things done. Now any of you can say that the game is a scam, and you never know -- that might be the case, but I highly doubt it. The developers have been really trying to give us what we want without spoiling the game at the same time. We've seen screenshots of in-game models, buildings, areas, vehicles -- and while I understand they're pretty old videos -- in-game footage. Now I think we'll be fine waiting until the supposed "Mid July - Early August" to see if it actually comes out. Now again I know that I'm going to get people sitting here like, "oh they're just gonna delay it again". If you've read the Dev Blog #007, you would have read that they state, they only have to finish the coffee building and clothes store and then they're just doing finishing touches and it's done. Now with a hard working team like Asylum, I doubt that will take much time. Let's just relax and see. TL;DR - Games coming out, we have info, stop your f*cking complaining and just be patient. Sorry if I offended anyone, I kinda don't care. All the complainers are beginning to get very tedious and annoying. Have a wonderful day, ~ SummitsEdge // Mob Mechanix Pres & Founder PS. I know this comment isn't going to stop people from complaining, but it sure does ease my nerves.

Gun Control- I personally believe that every citizen of Identity should have access to firearms (with some exceptions). I think that it is crucial for people to have this right because if the government and cops have all the guns then they can do whatever they want to the civilian population of this island. This would also heavily fuel the illegal weapons trade which would result in more deaths and crime. Another point that I would like to make is that it's not the law-abiding citizens who you have to worry about, it's the criminals who are going to get guns anyway and commit their crime. I want people to be able to defend themselves from these criminals. After all it is every man's inalienable right to bear arms! Now to the exceptions that I was talking about. These would be people who have been convicted of violent crimes or have been hospitalized for mental health issues in the past. They will not be allowed to purchase a firearm. Violent crimes include robbery, murder, illegal affiliated gang involvement, and many more. Legal firearms will include pistols, rifles, and shotguns that are not automatic. You will need to get a special permit to carry an automatic rifle from the governmental office. You will also have to submit to a background check. If you want to purchase a civilian grade weapon (semi-auto) you will need a licence (the licence you can get from the gun store) and have to submit to a background check as well. My last point on this issue is that banning all guns will hurt a crucial legal business and that is gun trading/selling or manufacturing. This would cut jobs and make people poorer in the end. This would also shift the money supposed to be going into law abiding citizen's pockets to gangs and underground dealers thus promoting more crime. Marijuana- I believe that the legalization of marijuana is inevitable. This is going to be important for the citizens of the great island of identity and will help stimulate the economy. You may smoke it freely! The way I would set it up is that you must get a permit and storefront to sell marijuana. You can only sell in those stores to protect the integrity of the businesses that choose to sell. There will be a small tax on the sale of marijuana. Anyone caught trying to undercut the tax and legit businesses by selling the drug will be fined heavily. Although there will be no jail time since this is not considered a violent crime unless involved with a gang known to be violent. You will only get fines starting with 50$ on the first offense then doubling every time you are caught. The reason I wouldn't throw you in jail is because again it's not a violent crime and that would just be a huge governmental waste on your tax dollars. The government would have to pay for your food while in jail, the space you take up in jail, the officers time, and many more factors that would be disadvantageous for the government to pursue that route. Tax rate: 6-10% I feel like the legalization of marijuana would also limit the profits of gangs trying to profit in that area and thus limit crime in that area. Corruption- Corruption is going to be a huge issue especially in the police and government. This topic is going to explain my view on this issue and the way I'm going to combat it. For starters I'm going to make a law that makes all elected officials live by the laws they propose/pass (including myself) through. The next thing I'm going to do is set up districts where the people of those districts vote for representatives to represent them in a congress like set up. The only requirement is that they have to have no prior illegal gang involvement or criminal record, as well as no party affiliation. These people will help uphold a system of checks and balances to make sure no law is too overbearing. This will also assure that the will of the people alone will be met from that district. There will be a lawyer appointed from the reps (of the districts) to look into the governmental spending and cabinet members accounts. He must have no criminal record or party affiliation. This will make sure no money is flowing into criminal accounts. The police will have a strict vetting process and training to hopefully route out any bad eggs. There will be term limits. You can only be governor for 2 terms, each term being 1 year (may change). The governor will then peacefully pass down power to whoever was voted in. We will do this so no one becomes a dictator and will promote fresh ideas. The last thing is that the government will produce a public budget report at the end of each month. This will state where all the money was spent unless that information is classified for whatever reason. Economy- I have a few ideas for how I will help stimulate the economy of identity. The government will by no means get heavily involved but may offer some benefits to businesses on the great island. Firstly I would withhold all taxes from newly formed businesses for 3 months while they get on their feet. The business tax rate would be around 2-3% very low to promote more business. Next I would start a business incentive program that would reward businesses for doing well and thus helping them expand and create more jobs. Something that i'm very excited about is helping businesses in identity thrive. The major way i'm going to do that is by reinvesting most of the tax dollars into businesses to support growth and more jobs. The more jobs people have the more money the government makes thus more money we can invest into businesses around the great Island of Identity. this would benefit everyone a lot. Something that sets me apart from other candidates is that I feel like the government should stay out of healthcare thus decreasing costs to where we can afford these incentives. I will talk about my specific view on healthcare on a later date. I will also work with the FMMB (Fair Market Merchant Bureau) to route out any corruption in the business world. This goes along well with my campaign slogan "flexibility that doesn't break your budget". Healthcare- Healthcare is going to be a hot button issue on the island and I believe that it shouldn't be a government issued thing at all. This is going to be a big point of difference between me and the other candidates running for governor. There are many reasons why I feel this way. The first reason would be that the government has a track record of doing a poor job in the healthcare area. If you look at a real life example in Canada you will find huge waiting lists and people actually coming to America for operations and procedures. Another reason for no governmental healthcare is that I don't want the government to be responsible for your life. This may sound harsh but I don't want to take the blame for lives lost due to a failed healthcare policy. The third reason is the cost, the cost of healthcare to the government would be high and the care provided would most likely be lackluster (very generalized). With limiting the cost of healthcare to the government, the government could spend the money elsewhere like businesses for one example. With no government healthcare and leaving it to the private companies this would promote competition (which would drive down costs), and give you better quality care. There will be some money allocated to help private healthcare companies though. It will be small maybe 5% of the money that the government takes in will be allocated towards that. This money will go towards running costs and possibly training of their staff. Police- I will start off by saying I have the utmost respect for the men and women in uniform. My uncle for whom I'm very close to is a police officer and talks about some of the things he has to do/go through. I know that this is going to be in a game but nevertheless your job will not be easy and I understand that. Here's some of the things that I will propose to hopefully make it easier for the officer's on the line of duty. First I will designate a portion of the tax dollars to go to the police force so you guys can have the best equipment and vehicles etc. Maybe 10-20% in that area. The next thing that I will do is set up a bonus program for officers who are doing good and are on the force for a long time. This will be a thank you for your service type of thing. One policy that I want to make clear is that NO and absolutely NO hate crimes towards cops will be tolerated. These will be met with swift justice and may bring with it the ultimate penalty. The same can be said for you guys (the cops) please don't abuse your power which i'm sure you won't. Cops I'm with you all the way and understand that we need you guys. I will personally not ask for escorts from you guys because let's be honest here, you guys probably have a lot of better things to do. As far as training goes and what not I'm not very experienced in that area but I would like to at some point get together experienced instructors to generate a standard operating procedure and training program. This is a way to better you guys and make you the best police force of all the servers on identity. This will also make training faster and more efficient. Minimum Wage- I think a fair minimum wage will be around 10-12$. This is lower than most people’s proposals for a couple reasons. The first being new companies will be able to hire more people thus creating jobs because of the little bit lower wage. The 3-5$ this saves will add up after a while and businesses will be able to use it to expand more. Tax Bracket- This is a huge issue with a lot of debate over what is too much and what is too little. Here’s how I will look into doing taxes. Very simple! Income: 0-80,000$ 80,001-infinity$ 4% 8-9% (still deciding) Business: 2-3% across the board Sales: 6-10% on legal drugs 3% on goods Death penalty- Yes I believe in the death penalty. This would be for people who do acts of terror or murderers in some cases. The person will be given last words, and read their crimes before killed. Climate/Environment- I don’t believe this will be a huge issue in the game but if there ever was one there would be fines in place for companies and individuals who pollute/litter all over. Optional Welfare- If you're poor and really trying to get by you may apply for welfare. This would mean you would have to do a background check to make sure the money doesn’t go to waste. The money you would receive would only cover some living expenses. This law will only be in place if the Government can spare the money. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Questions? Please ask and I will try to respond to the best of my ability. Note: Since the game isn't out there is no promises due to the possible limitations that we don't know about yet.

It's been a busy, eventful and productive month for the Identity team at Asylum! Only a few weeks ago we released our first video showing real in-game content, the player housing system, and Identity has gotten a good bit of much-needed exposure! If you haven't seen the video, visit Identity's YouTube channel. Our programmers, especially Henrik Sonesson, have upgraded our inventory mechanics and created two new important gameplay systems these last weeks. The library which you'll have access to in the Town Square module is now in place and functional. Players can both read public domain classic books in-game, or even write their own and submit them to the library for other players to read. In addition, the NPC shop systems are now in place. When you enter most shops you'll be able to find the items you need on racks or displays around the store. Grab what it is you're looking for and then make your way to the cash register to make the purchase. In some places you can preview the items you're holding even before buying; for example, in a clothing store you can go into a change room. This system even allows for shoplifting some items, although player-crafted or very expensive items cannot be shoplifted on official servers. On the art front, we've brought on new artists and are continuing to build the world you'll be exploring. We've also been focusing on the interiors of buildings and characters. We've gotten our first facial hair assets and are approaching a complete character customization system. An overhaul of character skin and hair has Identity's characters looking incredibly life-like in comparison to other MMORPGs. Next on that list for a re-work is the eyes.
