Wow, what a month. It's been busy here at Asylum as usual, so let's get down to the interesting stuff! As expected, our current focus is on the Town Square so that we can get it out to you as soon as possible. We're finalising the interior of the library and art gallery (shared within one building) and adding polish to the environment. Once the clothing store interior is complete following that, the Town Square environment is ready to go. We'll continuously be adding more art after release though; specifically for house furnishings, decorations and clothing. In addition to the environment art, Miroslav (character artist) has been creating all sorts of hair assets which allow us to show hair appropriately when wearing a hat or helmet. This is a big task for him as it means making variations to match the hat options for each length of hair, but in the end it'll ensure your hair always looks as you'd expect when wearing headgear. Hair under a hat; work in progress Right next to the clothing shop you'll find a bicycle store where you can get a sneak preview of some of the bikes you'll be able to ride around in the full Identity release. We showed you a bicycle work in progress last blog post and now you can see the finished result of that below. This image will give you a rough idea of the detail level you'll see in Identity's vehicles. Ridable bicycle With more final systems coming online for the Town Square release, we now have functioning phones. Each player will start with a cellphone, although you'll be able to upgrade it with three mobile OS options available. The phone OS' each have a unique and interesting style. Characters also have a designated phone number assigned when they're created; you'll be able to get a custom number for a fee. These phones work just as you'd expect. You're able to dial up another player and speak with voice remotely. Businesses can even get a business line which, when called, will contact a member of that corporation who's online. Shot from an internal system test: advertising While the art of the billboard above isn't final, it gives you a very good idea of what you can expect in Identity for advertising. That's right, you can really publish messages around the world through billboards and other means. Corporations and those running for government office can purchase billboard space to help get their message out. You'll select a graphical template from a large list of options and then attach a brief message or other customization to make it your own. These billboards can also be moderated by the server operators. There are other similar advertising systems, too. For example digital road signs can be made to show custom messages by the current government. We can't wait to show you more of Identity, and we'll soon have that opportunity with the release of an overhauled website. Those current pledge packages are about to go away forever, and some of the rewards won't be available for purchase again after the new website changes. Also, follow us on our Twitch channel if you'd like to stop in and ask questions of the developers. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you'll find a few developers playing a random game from 4pm EST to 5pm EST. Ask any questions and they'll be happy to answer on stream. Catch some of Identity's developers hard at work and see how they make the magic happen: we'll be providing development streaming dates and times on Twitter, soon! -- John VanderZwet

Alright, we need a release date, especially the people that bought $30+ packages, I see that the game is being "polished" right now, but without a guarantee, this could just lead to another long ass delay. I understand it doesn't take 2 days to make a perfect game and such, but this game has been in development for ages now. I speak for a lot of others when I say that the wait needs to end, and we need something.

We were also promised photo's and videos regularly, but all we have been getting is some screenshots and no videos...

Hey there, I believe for many reasons why the module was pushed back was that, 2 years is not enough which is the max length you can put for something to be released from kickstarter. They then gave a bad estimate saying March was enough extra time and then in April they made a deal/ partnership with SpartialOS which in turn they needed to make sure it was compatible with that SpartialOS. They also have re-made the Towns Square in the past because the roads were too small and also they had to re-do the city/ map because it was flat and so added variation to it. This year they also re-worked the Towns Square module with better / updated graphics. While all of this was over a year or so, the devs took a year and a half to do the core mechanics of the game in which they under estimated the time originally at kickstarter for how long it would take. I believe this is a great summary to why it is taking so long and also why it was delayed many time; however it is your choice to get a refund or not. Hope this helps! regards, LuckyDuck.

Introduction: What's up identity community!? My real is Jacob, but you guy's can call me that or HAWK (my username). I've been around dozens of role play communities and had the pleasure of meeting so many people. The reason why I'm here, which is most likely the same reason why everyone is here is for the Identity game. This game caught my eyes ages ago back in 2016 and I've watched the game grow through the dev blogs. It took me until now to actually buy the game and make an account on the forums to introduce myself, lol. Gaming: So "what's my experience with role play games?" you may ask. Well, I've spent 1250 hours on Arma 3 (yes a lot of hours, lol) about 900 hours of which was devoted to Arma life and Altis life servers. I belonged to the ANR community which was a very famous one for some time before it disbanded. Since then I've joined tons of other communities mostly playing as a Police Officer. Just last year I had my own server with a great group of people, but had to shut it down due to work and school. As of now I'm planning on opening another server for Identity and bringing the same realistic guidelines that arma has taught me with it. I'm also the creator of one of the biggest Law Enforcement related scenario for Arma 3 called City Cop Life. As well as arma 3 I have 839 hours on G-Mod which about 800 hours were on role play servers too. I've been a Community manager on one of fastest growing role play commmunities for Star Wars RP and Fallout RP servers. So it's safe to say I have plenty of experience with role play. Life: My goal right now is to keep going to school and eventually become a police officer once I graduate college.. I have a lot experience with Law Enforcement and can't wait to share it. Other: I can't wait for the first module to come out so I can join the rest of you and have a bunch of fun. What part of Identity are you guy's craving for them to give more info about?

As I have already stated bud it is sad that they have taken 2 years to push out a single module but hey not saying that aren't working hard, and for the taking the money and running thing, if you actually read that at all and didn't just do your little troll look at it, it says that I am thinking of getting a refund before it turns into one of those early access situations where they steal the money and run, never stated that it will but hey what ever makes you feel tough Btw you see that little button that says Notify me of replies, if you turn it off you don't need to listen to me at all haha Enjoy your day though

All good man and I understand, Yeah i know they hate the steam early access. Guess only time will tell how stable it will be
  17. 1 point
Don't want to wait? Get a refund. Otherwise don't complain, be patient. God some people.

No, you don't need to link your guitar to your PC and in-fact you will use keys likely on your keyboard to play notes etc.

This is becoming very absurd.... this game has been in development for over 2 years, It's taken them this long to put together a single module and even that they have pushed back the release of multiple times, This team needs to work on their abilities and actually release a product instead of wasting away everyones money and saying they are making progress lol It's a single module that should've been done long long ago, just sad honestly. Getting to the point that I may just end up getting a refund while I can before this turns into all the other games that get backed then the devs take the money and run.

Hey there, I am sure you are fine as my communities who have already been made for the game has already done so. regards, LuckyDuck.

Im mainly referring to public servers. And the reason I ask, lets say we have 12 people who reached captain and there is only 3 captains in the department who gets the spot?

After reading up on Identity, I discovered the Altis RPG mod and how it's tied to the upcoming game. So naturally, I decided to buy Arma III (it's on Steam sale right now) and find a random Altis server. I've been playing shooter games since the original Doom game came out in 1993, so of course I'd pick this game pretty easily right? Right? Holy crap. That's what I have to say about vanilla Arma III's learning curve. Reading maps properly, the funky unnatural key layout... it's quite confusing. And I made the mistake of joining an Altis server FIRST, before actually playing any vanilla Arma, which led to some hilariousness on my first go. Moments after joining a server, I was propositioned by a female player who offered to pay me $10,000 to be a sex slave. Seriously. Not knowing the RP terrain, I decided to reject her offer, and because I couldn't figure out the audio controls, that meant I had to run away from her as fast as I possibly could. Running down the road a ways, I ended up at a bank, but I couldn't figure out how to withdraw funds. I asked a bank patron politely for help, and he gruffly insulted me... so, being ever the avid GTA Online aficionado, I decided to steal his pickup truck and drive away. When someone informed me this wasn't cool of me, I tried to return that truck, only to have the man shoot at me. Panicked, I ran him over with his own truck, picked up his pistol, and drove away from town frantically, fearing I'd be arrested for vehicular manslaughter. Five minutes later, a player I assumed was a police officer started following me. His mic was super-quiet so I couldn't hear his commands. But it was nighttime, and the driving was a bit wonky, so I ended up smashing into a telephone pole. From here, I nervously escaped the vehicle and ran into an industrial-looking place, the apparent officer hot on my heels. I hid in the darkness, watching as the man ran around hunting for me. When at last he turned the corner behind which I was hiding, I raised my stolen pistol and unleashed a storm of bullets in the general direction of his face. I was now Matt the Copkiller, or so I thought, and I darted off into the woods hoping I'd never be found. That's when the guy angrily told me he was trying to help me by giving me money, a firearm, and some advice. I had just murdered someone who was trying to give me help. I can't even remember the last time I felt bad for something I did in a multiplayer session, if ever! Feeling bad, I found a new server, and this one has been super helpful. With more than 100 players, the server's denizens helped me get a driver's license, a boating license, and start fishing. I'm set up in a nice quiet town with a low crime rate (I've only been shot at once in the three hours I've played on that server). I can peacefully live out a civilian life of farming, and everyone has been super cool. I'm definitely hooked! My only gripe, one we all know Identity will rectify, is that I can't own and operate a business, at least not on the server I'm playing on (Grand Theft Arma, or perhaps that's the mod they're using? I'm still a total noob here lol). If there are English-speaking servers out there with larger populations where I could start a business of my own (buying property, creating products, and selling them to other players)I'd be game to give it a go. Is this even possible? Do such servers actually exist?

You are not forced into doing anything and Yes the devs confirmed you can record in the early stages e.g. the modules and beta. You don't have to record if you don't want to mate.
  34. 1 point
He is talking about the module, if they are only finishing polishing interiors and stuff they should at least give us a good release date for when this module comes out.

I used to play on GrandTheftArma, was in the police force 4 times, NHS, HATO e.t.c. (About 1 and a half years I spent on there). It's good but main problem is rulebreakers. Have a read of https://grandtheftarma.com/rules so you make sure you don't end up getting banned. From what I've read, when you ran that guy over, that's called Vehicle Death Match, and most servers ban for it. Also when you shot that cop, if you didn't tell him to put his hands up "initiation" then you could be banned for RDM (Random Death Match). I hope you enjoy it but watch out because a lot of people on that server don't give a shit if you're new, they'll have you banned for breaking rules instantly just to get their 10k pistol back.

For me (a 63 year old kid) I will RP the game as best I can. I will interact with all other people as I need to in the game. If someone does not do well or just does not like the game then I will just not see them in the town square coffee shop any more. Age will not matter to me because they will be another person in the square. Age of players is an issue that I do not want to get into so I will deal with whomever I meet in the game and move on. I hope to make some friends to have coffee with no matter their real age. Lets all RP and hope it's a pleasant experience.

The only way of doing it, are to run a private server, and then set up rules of mature players, and if some kid anyway join, then, kick them from the server, its might a bit hard but its fully possible. On public servers they will be there regardless what the game devs do to stop it.

Its been a year and a half almost since the kickstarter was funded and they have released NOTHING. No videos, demos, gameplay or anything whatsoever. Small dev team or not it still shouldn't take that long. People are talking about the lack of gameplay, hell, we haven't even met the hurdle of a pre release demo yet!

Good idea! We'll keep an eye on this thread to try to get an idea of what you guys are looking for. It's important to us that our players be able to fully express their personalities through character customization. Please try to keep ideas grounded in reality though! A lot of our design decisions are based on whether we feel a certain style will break immersion for others.

I think you guys are forgetting that fact that cheaters/hackers don't and won't play by the roleplay rules. So you cannot deal with them using roleplay actions. An admin will have to handle them or they will have to have some kind of anti-cheat program in place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.
