5 pointsIt's been a busy, eventful and productive month for the Identity team at Asylum! Only a few weeks ago we released our first video showing real in-game content, the player housing system, and Identity has gotten a good bit of much-needed exposure! If you haven't seen the video, visit Identity's YouTube channel. Our programmers, especially Henrik Sonesson, have upgraded our inventory mechanics and created two new important gameplay systems these last weeks. The library which you'll have access to in the Town Square module is now in place and functional. Players can both read public domain classic books in-game, or even write their own and submit them to the library for other players to read. In addition, the NPC shop systems are now in place. When you enter most shops you'll be able to find the items you need on racks or displays around the store. Grab what it is you're looking for and then make your way to the cash register to make the purchase. In some places you can preview the items you're holding even before buying; for example, in a clothing store you can go into a change room. This system even allows for shoplifting some items, although player-crafted or very expensive items cannot be shoplifted on official servers. On the art front, we've brought on new artists and are continuing to build the world you'll be exploring. We've also been focusing on the interiors of buildings and characters. We've gotten our first facial hair assets and are approaching a complete character customization system. An overhaul of character skin and hair has Identity's characters looking incredibly life-like in comparison to other MMORPGs. Next on that list for a re-work is the eyes.

1 pointRecently I was on the website for the upcoming game 'Last Year' Which is pretty much the Friday the 13th game. Anyway, I noticed on that site that it had a 'Backer only area' which meant that the people who had backed the game on kickstarter had first hand access to prototypes, screenshots and sneak peeks etc. I think that would be a superb idea here because to be honest the people who helped get this thing off the ground in the first place haven't been put forward of anybody else whatsoever. What do you guys think? @HairyGrenade @Motown @Paratus

Also I for one cannot wait till the new year as it will be only a few months from the 1st Module! I have been waiting so long with most of you, like those who are making it real and well I hope you enjoy the upcoming weeks! So, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! James!

1 pointI'm excited to see all of the jobs they'll offer once everything is official but as of now I'm kind of planning to try to marry a mobster and hope they're successful at their job. And then maybe I'll own a little business myself that they can use to launder money or hide from the cops or whatever.

1 pointOnce again, it's just from my experience as a gamer. Right now the two games most similar to Identity, Arma 3 altis life and Gta V, I have 400+ hours in altis life and I have only once ever encountered a female player, and that was in the police force, which is great. And in GTA V, with 200+, never ever have I ever encountered a female player. I really do hope that Identity does have a large female player base though, as it would really make the game way more realistic and immersive, as well as diversify the game community. I am glad your group has a large female player base, but I am just stating that from my experience, I doubt there will be many women playing this game.

1 pointI think what needs to be considered is, if you have a mic or not, to play Identity. Not consider TTS, so that players without a mic, can play Identity. The focus should be to talk over a mic. If you want to contact someone across the map, message or call x person on your phone or a payphone. I can imagine TTS being abused and be very absurd when trying to have a proper conversation. As well, as the time it takes for someone to text something out, compared to just talking over your mic. A microphone is absolutely necessary, to be playing Identity.

1 pointYeah what James said. I wouldn't want the eating and drinking system to be a hardcore as DayZ or a survival game along those lines. Instead I'd rather it be structured around the food and water being "aid" to your character. Food gives energy, water gives hydration. Supporting stamina, skill progression etc. I'd also like the drugs and alcohol to be an "aid" as well. NARC on play station 2 had an excellent system. Pot mellowed you out, turning the environment in to a kaleidoscope of of colors and textures. Speed such as cocaine and well, speed increased stamina and your running speed. I'm not saying drugs should be implemented as a "power up" but certainly having some sort of character effect and not totally useless. Duration is key too, drug use in GTA is to short and a joke.
-
1 pointYou won't need food or drink desperately but if they are low, you may be affected by stuff like not running as fast, idk about needing a toilet/ restroom. Food and drink will not kill you quickly like a survival game/ this means you will not need to rely on buying food and water all the time.

1 pointThe modules, are small standalone parts of the full game and where as the beta will be the closest thing to the full version of the game which is mainly for testing/ stress testing servers and such! The first module being due "Early 2017" which is up till April as the first quarter of the year.
-
1 pointIf you pledged for beta you will have access to the modules. It's till being determined if the character progress from beta will carry over to release.
-
1 pointThe first module is expected in early 2017, no official dates on anything yet though!
-
1 pointWelcome to the Identity forums @HaZard! What are you most excited about in the game? If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to PM me.
-
1 pointHe means beta, i.e. the testing of the full game.

1 pointHere's the real difference: In life, professional criminals accept that prison time is a part of what they do, they know the risks. In games, more often than not, players are not professional criminals, they're just players that cause trouble, & most of the time they're not even breaking any rules. Identity is going to change that perspective, put simply, 'If you can't do the time, don't do the crime'. I would expect to see some serious prison time on most private servers, but at the moment we're still not sure about what exactly Asylum intend to do here, and there are certain things we need to know: First, and most important, will game mechanics actually enable you to be a professional criminal? I'm talking about crimes other than those involving causing damage to other people here, i.e making money. Secondly, is the amount of time someone spends in jail/prison something that we'll be about to decide upon on private servers? Third, we've all heard that prison is going to be a 'mini world', an awful lot is going to depend on the exact definition of that, so what is it? One thing is clear, time behind bars IS going to play a major role in Identity, players need to be aware of, and accept it, before they embark on a life in crime.

1 pointYour Name: Joe Knight / Cookie (Nickname Cookie) Which Job Are You Interested In?: Chief Of Marketing Why?: I would like to become to become the Chief Of Marketing as I would like to see the business outperform other fashion business's in the marketing aspect of the business. I feel that having good marketing can help any product sell, if you have bad marketing and a good product nobody is going to see it, or know about it. With good marketing people will be able to see the product and want to buy it. Why Should I Hire You Over Someone Else?: I have a good understanding of marketing and know what works and what doesn't. I can also work very well with other people, such as the chief of finance, we can work out what is working financially, and what we could do to improve sales and such. Any Experience In The Fashion Industry?: I haven't had much experience in the fashion industry, but am always looking to learn and improve what I know.

1 pointIf you are wanted, you cannot enter your home and so no need for there to be a way for the police to enter. I'd rather no modding to this game for many reasons as I would rather have all servers similar than be completely fucked with mods and I would rather @Ubbe's system be added also by the devs because I would rather them get money than players having people mod shit for free which takes the devs chances to add such things while being paid to do so. @Ubbe I think your idea is good, but I would only say it can be done on a "House" and not the apartments as I think there should be one Absolutely no way for it to be robbed. Thats what i think would be better.
-
1 pointYeah, I think I'll get on daily just to chat since that's what we'll be doing for the most part.
-
1 pointnormal house far away from any city. good thing about it? if you get on my lawn i'll shoot you down with a shotgun!
-
1 pointI think just having a large medical fee depending on what they did to you and some sort of recovery period from your injuries. That way you could simply just have a lot of close encounters with death rather than actually dieing.
-

-
1 pointYes, this is what I image. The only way to rob someone should be if the player is online and outside of his apartment.
-
1 pointHow many people will be able to afford any of that? Most people will be starting off as citizens with a 30$ package. In any case, police have to respond to robberies considering weapons will be hard to acquire. I hope politicians will make similar guns laws to Canada.
-
1 pointI think you would make an excellent addition to the company. Glad to have someone who can help with shoe design as that isnt my strong side. Welcome to the team.
-
1 pointYour Name: BioHaze Which Job Are You Interested In?: CFO Why?: I like to manage the financial side of businesses and make sure that a company is financially sound in the short and long term. Why Should I Hire You Over Someone Else?: I have the drive to outperform my competitors and have the work ethic to do it. I dress nicely in rl so I appreciate the more artistic side as well. I work at Johnston and Murphy and know a thing or two about shoe design and whatnot. I study finance and economics so I know a few things in that regard as well. Any Experience In The Fashion Industry?: I have my own fashion consulting business in rl and I wear good clothing. That is the extent of my involvement in the fashion industry

1 pointWell I agree and I would like it to be a few hours of jail time depending on what crime it is but also having longer times increases the joyment of trying to escape police chases a such.
-
1 pointIts a game, and the game would be more enjoyable if you have to weight the benefits vs the consequences. You shouldn't look at it as punishment, but as incentive. I also think their should be a criminal record so that employers will be able to tell that you've been to prison and committed various crimes. There could be a phone app to check. Maybe people would have to pay to run background checks on a citizen. That can also help criminal employers find petty thugs to hire for grunt work.
-
1 pointIf time is 45 minutes max: Jailbreaks would almost never be possible with such a short amount of time. It often takes 30+ minutes just to prepare a strategy, gear up, and gather the appropriate intel assuming there are no delays and you're not rushing into things (this is from experience on ArmA 3 Life). This gives us very little time to enjoy the full prison experience, some people want to take it all in not blow through it all and chow down faster than a speeding bullet.. Enjoy your experience. If time is above 45 minutes (3 hour max jail sentence): This makes not getting caught much more thrilling in my opinion, sure a lot of people are like "but then if I do a crime I have to sit in jail and do nothing for hours!" but you do realize that's only if you get caught? Also I imagine you have to do a hell of a lot of crimes to receive a maximum jail sentence. I, personally someone who's more interested in hardcore role-play rather than an arcady GTA experience would prefer a longer jail sentence just for the sake of role-play. I want to be part of the whole role-playing experience, I don't want to run around the streets and just commit constant crime after crime not carring about that 45 minute maximum jail sentence. If you're a real criminal and know what you're doing, you shouldn't get caught. Honestly.. I imagine the official servers want something for everyone so I imagine there will be versions of official servers that are more arcady while there are versions that are much more hardcore with longer jail sentences and such; Regardless of that, I imagine there will be plenty more private servers and something for everyone. It won't all be the same, so if you want that chance at a longer jail sentence then trust me there will be servers out there for you just with that in mind focusing on the hardcore aspects of role-play.
