2 pointsHello everyone. I wanted to say something a little more entertaining to read than a bland little "greetings from Ohio", but my dry sense of humor doesn't often translate very well to the written/printed word. Maybe I could spice things up more if I didn't have such an aversion to emoticons? A tiny bit about myself: I'm a military veteran and father of one. I like gaming, but my main passion in life (besides my son) is minerals; I'm studying to be a gemologist. The main games I play are Sacred 2, Wolcen (once I get a better rig), and this once it comes out. I look forward to playing with all of you, especially because this is my first MMO and all of you sound fun. Later, Gilbey

2 pointsToday we publish the first Identity Insider update, bringing you detailed information about key systems in Identity. Our website has expanded with a small page detailing corporations and their classes, also available below: Corporations in Identity You've made a lot of cash working odd jobs, or maybe even the odd less-than-legal task; now that you've had a taste of success, it's time to forge an empire. Corporations will allow the successful with a little extra cash to become driving forces in Identity's dynamic economy. Corporations are organizations similar to, but separate from, gangs and other social structures. They have the added ability of owning assets and issuing work orders to their real-player employees. Some assets, such as the largest cargo trucks, are available only to corporations. Once formed, the corporation is assigned a telephone number for public contact and the director (owner) can build a logo using an in-game design tool. It's then time to hire a staff and get to work. Classes of Corporations Delivery Delivery corporations can buy large vehicles for big hauls, vehicles not available to the general public. While any player can deliver goods in vehicles such as vans, to get the big-bucks you'll need to join a corporation. Legal Let's face it, crimes happen and criminals are going to be arrested. They'll need someone on the outside to convince the jury that they did nothing wrong. This is where legal corporations come into play, and their services aren't always cheap. Transportation People need to get from point A to point B and they don't always have the means to do that themselves. Transportation corporations own special vehicle assets including taxis and more, helping those in need get where they need to be. Manufacturing From the shoes on your feet to the sofa under your seat, almost everything in Identity is built and crafted by other players. Manufacturing corporations give their employees access to a wider variety of constructables and resources, for a cut of the profits. Always Expanding As with most things in Identity, we at Asylum will constantly be expanding this system adding new classes of corporations and building on those already available. Identity's release is only the beginning. If you have any ideas for a well-suited corporation class, let us know on the forums.

1 pointBeing a made man in la cosa nostra is one of the highest honors. For a gangster, being made is what they have been waiting for their entire life, it changes their whole perspective. Being made into a family means that you are trusted and loyal to join the family, and as such, must be respected by any and all people. Being made involves a secret ceremony in which an associate transforms into a man of honor. People who disrespect a made man will face dire consequences because to insult a made man is like insulting the whole cosa nostra. Being part of the mafia, "this thing of ours" isn't just like a job, its a way of life. Members must eat, talk, act, and live our way of life. This also means taking shit from no one, as well as treating others in the family just like how you would treat your brother or your father; with the utmost respect and understanding. You are part of a brotherhood, "una fratellanza." Being a made man means you must treat those around you fairly, regardless of background and social status, but those deemed unworthy turn into the prey, the enemies in which we destroy to become stronger. To be a made man in the Luprano family, you must be a male, strong headed, willing to murder for the family, even the governor of the island if that is what is required. Conservative values are a must to say the least, women that are respectful are respected back and tolerated, disrespectful women are dealt with the same as men; the family always comes before women. You must be of Italian descent (roleplay atleast) and have traditional Italian values. We are old school and are keeping the traditions of the past alive and well, slightly incorporating some new beliefs and motives, but never straying from whats in our hearts. There is no tolerance of cowards or new school gangster culture. If you are chosen to become a made man you must take the oath of omertà , the oath of silence. You must vow to always be loyal to the family and never betray us, until your dying breath. Omertà and our values are what make us what we are. Those privileged and worthy enough to join enter a secret society, one that will never end, never be defiled, never be destroyed. This is La cosa nostra.

1 pointI understand corruption can be found everywhere and greed is something that even our current government bodies can control. I just see a privatization causing further issues with corruption. The entire focus on this society seems to be profit. Profit shouldn't be the main focus of a society, it should sustainability and longevity through being self sufficient and having a stable economy.

1 pointWhile I agree with private parks and schools I think that even though some corruption in police officers is present you shouldn't blame the entire system to throw it out. There are legitimate officers out there who respect the people they protect. There's corruption with everything. The nurse stealing supplies. The laundromat owner skimming some money off the top. It's always present. But with a stable economy you have less to worry about. Instead of buying a whole new billion dollar milita just upgrade the current one with more equipment. Don't take out something that has worked for hundreds of years. Even in a private world corruption will still be present. Corruption isn't something you can escape from. Greed is also something that can't be stopped. If you let people carry around guns they can shoot a cop for pulling them over if they think it's not fair. I want to protect those men and women who serve us. The only people who should be allowed to have weapons are ex military personnel who have gone through mental stability checks, officers and select few clerks. It's a monopoly that can change with specific changes to the system. Instead of abolishing taxation just minimize it. Raise the minimum wage a little bit so spending isn't a problem.

1 pointI don't see how this could be effective because business would become the government standard and citizens freedoms and liberties will in turn be trampled by greed, corruption, and power. Turning all government services to private business, could be effective for some services to the community (parks, sanitation, roads, etc) however many other services could suffer due to privatization and the removal of a public standard of practice. Policing for example could become easily corruptible due to greed, all because society is focus is "how can I get the most out of everyone". With much privatized, if a monopoly or coup happened to the market, there would be no way to restablize, killing any free market you strive for. Allowing all to carry and defend if given the need will also cause may issues with unnecessary murder and fire fights. An armed society is not a polite society, it is a paranoid society. Murder will be an everyday occurrence and your prison system will be overloaded, which could cause further issues to a market that can easily be destabilized by business. Just seems privatized business practices would become government standard and that is dangerous for a free society.

1 pointHello, Andrew There's nothing wrong with clean humor, I like that. With an 18 month old, a variety of areas in my life have become more.... "appropriate for all ages". As far as gemologist, thank you. Ya know, when I came home from the military and started college, I had no idea that my course of study would take such a drastic turn ( I started out in psychology ). Life is kinda funny like that some times. I haven't much experience in Australia, but I did spend a little time in Perth. If you're familiar with that area and like minerals, I highly recommend a store called The Crystal Cavern. Hi, Travis. I'd love it if I could put my passions into the game, as well. I've seen a few pictures of jewelry stores here, maybe I'll be able to have a loose mineral/ fossil store. Geodes, clusters, shark teeth, that type of deal.

1 pointA concierge is a hotel employee. The Italian word 'consigliere' translates roughly into english as 'advisor', so that's probably what you're looking for. Either way, interesting gang. Which server will you be operating on - US, UK, or AU?

1 point@AndrewDonaldson I am a very level headed person and in my line of work (social worker) i get a lot of abuse from people. I know some of the basic american laws, but all will be a learning opportunity.
-
1 pointThank you, @AndrewDonaldson. I would say that having a passion for the police force since i was 4 years old, am now 20, would hopefully make me knowledgeable enough, but in saying that, it is an american based game. I would like to think i am a Mature person and would suit the role of being on the Police force in this game. I will eventually make it through all the thousands of posts and replies in the Precinct Forums, there are a lot! I hope we do meet in game! and hopefully, not with me putting you in the back of my squad car.
-
1 pointHey, @TravisGB, and welcome to the forums! To answer your question, to become a member of the police department, you must apply while in-game. It's a difficult and mature role, so I hope you are up for it! Next, to change from being an immigrant, you must purchase a tier from the shop. It can be the lowest tier if you wish. Also, if you do have a passion for the police force, I would recommend reading 'The Precinct' for more information on police. Finally, I also live in Australia, so I hope to see you in-game! Hope this helps.

1 pointWhen a vehicle is parked in an illegal area, such as in front of a hydrant or without paying a parking meter, their vehicle becomes flagged for fining. What this means is that they won't automatically receive a ticket; however, if an officer notices their vehicle they'll have the ability to give the corresponding ticket.

1 pointHello citizens! It's been too long since our last developer blog entry, so I wanted to take the time today to update all of our backers on Identity's current state of development, as well as give a little more insight into the process behind the scenes. During the first year and a bit of development, most of the time was spent developing key backend systems. Networking modifications, weapon physics, character customization, voice communication and so on. That's all behind us now, and I'm happy to say it's gone as well as we could have hoped. Now and for the past couple of months we've moved on to gameplay development, making those backend features do the fun stuff. This Month in Development In this last month our lead character artist, Miroslav, has finished up everything we need for your characters going into the Town Square release. We're always going to be adding more character customizations over time, but to start you'll have the choice between 4 male and 5 female race options. After selecting your base race you can customize further with skin tones, blemishes, scars, eye color, hair styles, hair colors and tweaks to facial features. Identity is expanding on the usual character customization, though, as some of the options available can only be gotten through achievements. Prison tattoos are an example; if you see someone with such a tattoo you know they've done something to earn it. A lot of work this month has also gone into the player housing systems. In following our previous messages, our home customization system has been in place for some months although we've been expanding the floorplans in preperation for the Town Square module release. Sean, or Motown as you may know him, has prepared the various apartments you will have in the Town Square. If you have made a smaller pledge to Identity and do not have an apartment yet, we're going to be giving you access to a temporary (small) home in the Town Square so that you can play with the cusomization features. If you've pledged for a package containing an apartment, Town Square will show what you'll have in the full Identity game upon release. Just this morning our lead programmer, Henrik (AKA Mathalion), finished up the karaoke systems. It's a minor feature for Identity as a whole, but it's going to be loads of fun in the Town Square module! Just off the lobby of the hotel is a slick little bar, complete with a karaoke stage. You'll be able to queue up your favorite songs on the karaoke machine and see the lyrics on one of the monitors around the stage. The microphone on the stage really works, too, amplifying your voice out of the speakers so that your singing can be heard by everyone there! Most of us are terrible singers, so karaoke is going to have a lot of hilarious moments. If you're just there to watch, the restaurant by the stage is fully functional, too! It's Been Too Long I'll just come right out and say it: we at Asylum Entertainment have really had poor PR these last months, and you guys deserve better. You deserve much more frequent updates, and we're committing to give you that moving forward. We're a relatively small development team today. Currently a core staff of 5 incredibly talented full-time developers, I'm amazed every day with what this team can accomplish. Outside of our core we have a handful of part-time workers, mostly artists, who are also very skilled. Because we're a small team, many of us have to wear several hats. For example, Sean is our community manager but also a 3D artist. I myself am the project manager, a programmer and interface developer. This leads to few resources to dedicate towards PR as there's so much work to be done on the game itself. This is something we knew though, and we're going to set some time aside regularly to keep you in the loop. The Town Square module is coming soon. We're in the final months of 2016 now, and you'll finally be inside the first piece of the Identity world in the first quarter of 2017. It's a little later than we originally hoped since we're dedicated to making sure everything is smooth and stable from the first moments. Identity is an enormous undertaking, but the most difficult bits are behind us and we're drawing near! What to Expect The first stage of game development is always very boring to talk about, and also doesn't give us much to show you. Creating those backend systems that drive the game behind the scenes is one of the most important phases, but it's not very glamorous. It's for this reason that most games aren't announced until they're a couple years into development. Now that we're past that point, we're going to be able to start showing you real Identity gameplay. The first gameplay video you'll see is going to be in November and will show you just how detailed and in-depth Identity is becomming! You'll see a walkthrough of our housing system, showing just how far it can be customized and some of the cool fun features you'll find in there. Following that video we'll give you a glimpse of the Town Square features, leading up to its release. It's been a ton of work and a long time coming, but we're moving forward at a great pace and everything is about to get very exciting over here.
