Hello citizens! It's been too long since our last developer blog entry, so I wanted to take the time today to update all of our backers on Identity's current state of development, as well as give a little more insight into the process behind the scenes. During the first year and a bit of development, most of the time was spent developing key backend systems. Networking modifications, weapon physics, character customization, voice communication and so on. That's all behind us now, and I'm happy to say it's gone as well as we could have hoped. Now and for the past couple of months we've moved on to gameplay development, making those backend features do the fun stuff. This Month in Development In this last month our lead character artist, Miroslav, has finished up everything we need for your characters going into the Town Square release. We're always going to be adding more character customizations over time, but to start you'll have the choice between 4 male and 5 female race options. After selecting your base race you can customize further with skin tones, blemishes, scars, eye color, hair styles, hair colors and tweaks to facial features. Identity is expanding on the usual character customization, though, as some of the options available can only be gotten through achievements. Prison tattoos are an example; if you see someone with such a tattoo you know they've done something to earn it. A lot of work this month has also gone into the player housing systems. In following our previous messages, our home customization system has been in place for some months although we've been expanding the floorplans in preperation for the Town Square module release. Sean, or Motown as you may know him, has prepared the various apartments you will have in the Town Square. If you have made a smaller pledge to Identity and do not have an apartment yet, we're going to be giving you access to a temporary (small) home in the Town Square so that you can play with the cusomization features. If you've pledged for a package containing an apartment, Town Square will show what you'll have in the full Identity game upon release. Just this morning our lead programmer, Henrik (AKA Mathalion), finished up the karaoke systems. It's a minor feature for Identity as a whole, but it's going to be loads of fun in the Town Square module! Just off the lobby of the hotel is a slick little bar, complete with a karaoke stage. You'll be able to queue up your favorite songs on the karaoke machine and see the lyrics on one of the monitors around the stage. The microphone on the stage really works, too, amplifying your voice out of the speakers so that your singing can be heard by everyone there! Most of us are terrible singers, so karaoke is going to have a lot of hilarious moments. If you're just there to watch, the restaurant by the stage is fully functional, too! It's Been Too Long I'll just come right out and say it: we at Asylum Entertainment have really had poor PR these last months, and you guys deserve better. You deserve much more frequent updates, and we're committing to give you that moving forward. We're a relatively small development team today. Currently a core staff of 5 incredibly talented full-time developers, I'm amazed every day with what this team can accomplish. Outside of our core we have a handful of part-time workers, mostly artists, who are also very skilled. Because we're a small team, many of us have to wear several hats. For example, Sean is our community manager but also a 3D artist. I myself am the project manager, a programmer and interface developer. This leads to few resources to dedicate towards PR as there's so much work to be done on the game itself. This is something we knew though, and we're going to set some time aside regularly to keep you in the loop. The Town Square module is coming soon. We're in the final months of 2016 now, and you'll finally be inside the first piece of the Identity world in the first quarter of 2017. It's a little later than we originally hoped since we're dedicated to making sure everything is smooth and stable from the first moments. Identity is an enormous undertaking, but the most difficult bits are behind us and we're drawing near! What to Expect The first stage of game development is always very boring to talk about, and also doesn't give us much to show you. Creating those backend systems that drive the game behind the scenes is one of the most important phases, but it's not very glamorous. It's for this reason that most games aren't announced until they're a couple years into development. Now that we're past that point, we're going to be able to start showing you real Identity gameplay. The first gameplay video you'll see is going to be in November and will show you just how detailed and in-depth Identity is becomming! You'll see a walkthrough of our housing system, showing just how far it can be customized and some of the cool fun features you'll find in there. Following that video we'll give you a glimpse of the Town Square features, leading up to its release. It's been a ton of work and a long time coming, but we're moving forward at a great pace and everything is about to get very exciting over here.

You know what, I'm happy with this response. As someone who was very skeptical the team was trying to pull a fast one, it's given me renewed hope in the team and the game. They're able to admit their mistakes and finally be honest about the release date. Good on them. I'm looking forward to seeing the video. I'm sure it will be exactly what we all expect it to be. What are your thoughts? P.S. I will once again be visiting the forums daily and attempting to contribute meaningful content to pass the time.

To @Paratus, @Motown and the Asylum team. i know that their might be a few members that have become irritated by the lack of updates but I for one just want to say a big thank you for the update you released to us. Me being an aspiring games designer myself know how hard it can be, especially when it comes to funds and manpower but I still believe that this is doable and eagerly await it's release. It's getting really exciting now that most of the difficult stuff is out of the way and I just hope that you can live up to your promise of more regular updates from you. Thank you to the team and keep up the good work, Herzog

Hello people of Identity. My name is Gene Smith and I'm running for Governor of The Island. I know that the game currently isn't out and nothing is set in stone but I wanted to set out my campaign. I've taken my time to carefully think about different answers for popular questions. What will you do about Property Taxes? What will you do about Gun Control? What will you do about regulating taxes? What are your thoughts about Health Care? What you can do for the working man, and what will you do about the crime? ------------ Property Taxes are Taxes you pay to keep your business running or your home from being taken away. Property taxes are unnecessary and unneeded. Property Taxes need to be removed completely and focusing on taxing other things. You should not have to pay for something you helped build just to live in fear of it being taken away. ----- Gun Control is something that everybody talks about when somebody gets shot. Well the hard truth is, guns don't kill people. People kill people. A person has to load the gun, aim the gun and pull the trigger. We don't need control on guns. We need control on the people who have the guns. If you have a criminal record and you have been known to kill you will have to run a background check before you're able to get your guns. ------ Regulating Taxes on working people will not only bring more jobs but also putting more people in those jobs. A person who makes 8$ an hour gets taxed 5%,10% and even 15% and sometimes even up to but not limited to 35%. You take a middle class man who works 10 hours a day and makes 10 dollars an hour. He gets taxed 15% for his week of pay. He takes home 425$ or somewhere around there. That money could be going towards his house payments. His food. His utilities or even buying clothes for his children. Regulating taxes is the number one thing we need to work on. I want to lower the tax rate to at least 3% to give the lower/middle class man or woman that extra incentive to work harder for those promotions. A happy worker is a hard worker. ------- Health Care is the most important thing. Canada-while their government isn't the best- they do have free health care. Free health care is the most important thing that we need to work on. While Canadians have to pay higher taxes for free health care we will not. Regulating taxes is what needs to happens. --------- The working man is the best type of man. A man who isn't afraid of trying to support his family and trying to make his household happy. The working man is the backbone of our community. I've seen plenty working men and woman that have started their own companies based on the fact to grow more and create more jobs. They make more money for our homes and government. I want to work on. Not taxing the working person not because they're special but because they deserve what they worked for. Why take that away? And crime is something that I will talk about later if necessary. Thank you for your time.

So my question is, how will we/you/us role play? Personally I have always text role played, even in Second Life everyone, in a character setting, role plays using text. Usually with paragraphs of detail. Will that be the community standard in game? Will we instead use voice and rely on the animations and emotes of our avatars/characters for other people to see and react to? What are you thoughts?

ABOUT ME Hello,my name is Logan Wolf,I am 16.I enjoy Serious Role-play and when I say Serious I mean serious. You may be wondering what makes me a 16 year old English guy can do with a server? Well even if you wasn't I'll answer it now,I have owned a Serious Role-play server in the past along with my co-owner Jim Wolf,We amassed around 24 players constantly, that may not seem like much but they all seriously role played. I have role played for around 3 years. I have enjoyed different types such as Altis Life and DarkRP(although this cannot exactly be the best I made it the best I could.) I also am currently doing Computing/Game/Software Development which means I do in fact know a decent amount about coding and programming. HOW THE SERVER WILL BE The server will be ran to an amount very strictly and we will deal with any rule breaks very quickly and professionally. The rules will be like a lot of Serious servers, although certain things such as RDM and other rules will have to be edited when the server is finally able to be up and running and we get a feel of what the game is like. The server will have minimal staff and only have as much as needed. It will be white listed but if we do not hit enough players by the time it is opening then it will not be whitelisted until we have enough people returning which could take 1-4 weeks. I took this idea from @JamesLuck01 I hope you don't mind To get white-listed go to our forums and look at the applications. Restrictions: Police Force: There is no limit on this but there is a limit on how many we can have on at once. I would like the limit to be 30 on at once. Fire Department: There is no limit on how many can be firemen/women but there is a limit on how many can be on at once. The limit is 15. Paramedics: There is no limit on how many can be paramedics but there is a limit on how many can be on at once. The limit is 20. Other: This is your criminals/citizens. There is no limit. We are currently accepting donations but this will go into a paypal and will be used for website hosting currently and server hosting when the game is released. You will receive only a few things for donating such as: A special tag on our forums. A personal Discord Channel. More in the future as long as it does not equal a pay to win function. Donate here A few words from my co-owner Jim Wolf: Check out @JamesLuck01 server post: LINKS Radio Station This is more so you can talk to each other and listen to music at the same time, this is just a lot of fun from experiences. Discord This is for talking to other people such as me or Jim. Steam Group Use this to see announcements and also to add people on steam. Website Use this to get white-listed and set up your profile and show us your support. My Steam Profile Use this to talk to me directly. Police White-list Fire Department White-list Paramedic White-list Citizen White-list Rules For Everything Use this to get to grips with our rules.

Im impressed that the team admitted that their PR sucks. I rarely see a dev team to admit that(or anything in general) and i think thats pretty brave of them.

Facepunch studies (The rust team) is composed of 25 full time workers. From (Dec 2013–2014) they made 55 million USD. Not really a fair comparison. I think we should be satisfied with he fact the devs posted a reasonable explanation as to why they haven't really been updating us, and told us exactly what they were working on.

It's not set in stone, but the plan is to allow you to choose which town the apartment will be in. Later we'll be selling specific locations, so the universal pledge right now is sort of a limited thing. Different towns will have different floorplans. Ash Hill apartments are large for the price while Roseport are more in line with those you'd have in a city like New York.

Here is what I find very unfortunate. While yes, a new blog was long overdue and I read it at least twice just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.. We don't know if we'll have to wait almost another year for a new one. While I hope they release a new one very soon. I'm just worried everybody is on a euphoric high because they got exactly what they wanted. But we seem to neglect the fact we may not get another for a while.

You could also always just buy the $30 pledge, and once you have more faith in it, you just upgrade it to the $500. Also welcome!

Hello and Welcome to the Identity community! Great to have you join us here in the wait and please use the FAQ and search bar to find answers that you need. If you need to just quote me and I will reply to your questions. I can't decide for you and same with everyone else. I personally have already pledged $250 for this game and so I can't really support it to be a scam and I am definately on the side that the game is in progress and will release early 2017 but could have unexpected delays like all games do and I know the game has a very small team. (Just my opinion) Now if you feel that you think its a scam then don't pledge that $500 but if you want to help the devs out and / trust in them to deliver this wonderful game then go ahead but remember its your choice and no one can / should change your mind for you. You decide as its YOUR money!
