Hey Guys, I thought I would share with you a little guide I designed a few years ago for businesses in Arma 3 Life. It's a simple business model that worked pretty well. It's more or less an algorithm for any business you choose to make. It allows for your employees to be paid, and will minimize them breaking off for sole profit. It is purposely written so that anyone can understand. --------------- Business Model System This is the business model system for maximum efficiency for any business. This model uses a percentage based pay and is designed to be easily modified and easily implemented. Here is the Key for the following guide: A- Overhead (This is the money you need to cover your expenses) B- Profit (This is the money you make after your initial investment has been covered) C- Employee Payroll (This is the money for you to pay your employees) D- Investors Payroll (This is the money to pay your investors) ----------------- Generally speaking you need to arrange all of your investors payroll and your employee payroll to only come from your profits. It is important to remember what your total investment is, your profit, and your payroll. Be sure that you keep an eye on your finances. This is an example of the business model: Your total Overhead (A) is $1000 You have one investor, who has invested $1000 into your business in exchange for 5% of your profit (B). This places a $20,000 valuation on your company. You have one employee plus yourself. Your employees and investors make 5% of your profits. From 100% of your profit (B), you now owe 10%, which leaves you with 90% of your profit. Your profit is $5000. This means that $250 goes to your investor, $250 goes to your employees. 90% of your profit or $4500 is now left over. You invest $2000 into your Overhead this time. You have the same amount of investors. Your company's valuation is still only $20,000. You have gained another employee plus yourself. You have banked $2500. If your profit from a $1000 investment was $5000, this means you made $6000 from the total investment. In turn you expect to make double because of your investment of $2000. This puts you at a $10,000 profit. 5% of $10,000 is $500. You pay your employees $500 and your investor $500. This leaves you with a total of $9000 profit. This algorithm is a progressive system. You do not have to pay any specific percentage, I was simply explaining the math with the easy percentages. ---------------- Q: Why would someone work for me, if they could make the same amount as me? A: Your employee pays no overhead, he uses your equipment, he uses your services, he uses your resources. He has no risk involved. If he is robbed, it is not his money he is losing. (Or She). Also, your employee will scale with more employees and more profit. Whereas if he were to do it all on his own, he would make the same singular profit without the ability to scale, unless he were to create his own company. (Or She). Not to mention, you could promote the employee to making more of a percentage. Q: Why not split the profits evenly? A: You can do that! Except you do need to take out your next expenses before dividing up the profit. Always cover your next venture. Q: Why bank the money? A: The reason for banking your money is insurance. If you are robbed, or an expensive piece of equipment is lost, stolen, or broken, you need to be able to cover those expenses. You pay yourself, the same amount as you pay your employees. You bank the remainder for upgrades and incidentals. Q: Is this the only system that works? A: Heavens no. There are many different systems that work, this is just an easy one to start with until you get your feet wet. ----------------------- Should you have any questions, or anything you would like to add to this guide (Business Model) please reply and leave a comment.

That is some impressive marketing skills you have. Why not create your own marketing advice company? Or a shares business? I was thinking of investing, and you have helped me greatly. Thank you for this guide

Sounds interesting. I enjoy making systems, rather I enjoy making systems that work and help players. I might look into finalizing this system on a server of my own, then perhaps sharing it with other servers. Ultimately anything I make is free to the community to use, however I cannot manage them all.

@ItsMe No, its good that you are discussing ideas. And you are right, 300 people can't create everything.

I think we are getting side-tracked...

I feel like the devs won't be implementing something as trivial as this. No offence. When you think of the list of excellent ideas to add to the game, changing which had your gun in makes little to no significant difference.

*After driving for several uneventful hours, Kevin directs Ryan down a road just outside of town. After driving down the road for a few minutes, they come up to a driveway with a locked gate, leading to a barn with some old rusted out cars scattered about. Kevin gets out and opens the gate. Once parked outside the barn, Kevin gets out again* "Get the truck turned around, I'll open the doors up" *Kevin walks over to the doors of the barn, and removes the padlock, and slides the doors open so Ryan can reverse inside. Once he is inside he steps out to help unload the pickup truck from the back of the ramp truck. Ryan takes a look around and is surprised at what is inside. The inside of the barn has been converted, so that most of the main floor has been converted into a garage, with a small bit at the far end set up as a living room, with stairs off to the right hand side* "Holy shit man, this place is crazy" "I know, it's where I go when I want to get away. Lets get this unloaded, then I can give you a quick tour" *Once the two of them have the truck unloaded, Kevin takes Ryan to the upstairs area* "A few years ago when I first started to get some money I found this place for cheap, so I bought it and did a renovation. Most of this floor was added onto what I am assuming was a hay loft" *Upstairs there is a small bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The two of them head back downstairs, and as Ryan gets back into the ramp truck to leave, Kevin takes out his wallet and pulls out a wad of cash* "This is a thanks for the help, and to make sure that you don't tell anyone about this place, aside from you no-one else knows about this place. If anyone asks where I am, just tell them I had some business to deal with out of town" "Sounds good boss, see you around" *Ryan takes off out of the converted barn, and Kevin closes the doors behind him. He heads up the stairs into the kitchen, and grabs a beer out of the fridge before heading back down to the main floor. He goes into the living room area and puts on some music. He then walks over to where the truck is parked, and goes over to a covered car. He pulls the cover off revealing a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda 440 Six Pack ((7.2L V8))* "Just a little more work on tuning, and you will be blowing those fucking hot rods out of the water" *Kevin walks over to a work bench with some parts for the Cuda neatly laid out, before turning to the half-ton Chevy. He opens the hood and takes a look at the 350 V8 ((5.7L))* "What the fuck did I just get myself into" *Kevin works for a few hours before flopping on the beat up couch in the living room. He pulls a mason jar out from under the couch. He opens it and deeply inhaling the sent. He quickly rolls a joint before returning the jar to its place. He lights it and begins to smoke while staring at the now mostly disassembled front end of the truck. He walks over to a white board near by and begins to write out a list of things to do, such as rebuilding the engine, and removing some of the dents. Next to this list he looks at a second list, with "'71 'Cuda" written above it. Kevin then walks back over to the couch, ashing into a empty beer can. He lays down and turns on the 60" tv on the wall and watches some movies until he passes out*

This game is not just about descending into anarchy due to criminals. You have to look in depth into criminal organisations as each has its own unique RP aspect. For instance my MC will be running guns, but its not just that. We do way more than just shoot up people in the street. Ridealongs, funerals and other such is the other RP scenarios that my group will be getting involved in with many more. The closest youll get to a family is the ability to marry another player. There is no children in the game which is both a pro and con but thats whats good about RP games, it uses your imagination. Now i dont know about you, but for me, when it comes to RP i have a lot of imagination. For example, yes all the characters in the game are adults but you can always RP a married couple with a teen son or daughter who is about to go to uni or just even RP a small family. Unfortunately you wont get any closer than that, Sorry Herzog

@ChillBilly, thats impressive if you do actually have 10 years irl experience. Do you plan on becoming a police officer? Or a paramedic! I believe the community will make the 'codes' for others, so I agree that we shouldn't do it. But I know little about this topic...

According to the incident command system, and any working government system, the pattern would follow a 1:7 ratio in a server of 300 people. Therefore there would need to be 1 person for every 43 (rounded up) people for a government to work. Let's break down what a local government consists of: 1. Mayor 2. City or County Clerk 3. City or County Commissioner 4. Police Chief 5. Fire Chief 6. Treasury 7. Sanitation This is not all of what makes up a local government, however it will serve the purpose of showing how many players would be needed to complete your request. An ambassador would require foreign policy, a foreign policy would require a country, a country would require a state, a state would require a county, and a county would require a city. 7 people are required to run a city of 300, using the 1:7 ICS system. Using 300 players as a baseline, this means the entire country or server would require 8400 players. Is it plausible? Yes, but the server would need to hold the minimum capacity of 8400 players to actually give the ambassador something to do. In other words, if there isn't a need for an ambassador, there is no ambassador. Without a need, it's a fancy title without a purpose. -------- Someone please check my math (It's Early). 4 states of government equals 28 total government employees, 7 times 300 is 2100, 2100 times 4 states of government equals 8400 players. this is assuming that 300 players stays the same for all 4 governments 300 (City) 300 (County) 300 (State) 300 (Country). Governments should be based from population not from map size.

You want something, you got to earn it. If that's doing all the crap jobs to start with, then that's what they should do.

I get your point about this, but I doubt they will make us suffer because in this game you can rent a server(privately hosted) and so there will always be servers to play on, if the official servers went down for some maintenance or just if a error occurs when joining.

Hello All, I thought it might be good to enter in some tips for those of you that choose to run your own server. Staff interaction is a key interest when running your own server in any type of life experience. From my research into identity, it looks like servers will have a certain about of free reign when choosing rules and regulations for its own server and server management. The Incident Command System is being used in real life for all EMS, Police, and Fire Services. What's great about the ICS system is that you can use it to manage your server! How many of you have visited previous life communities that have 80 million positions most of which are lead positions? I am sure a lot. The ICS system allows for the minimum of active leadership while still providing the most effective amount of communication. In my experience I have developed systems to provide services to many different life servers and life type genres of gameplay. My most successful system has been the Legal System. The Legal System was designed using the Incident Command System from memory of my years in the fire service, and it is actually my job currently to design new developments for the Incident Command System. A typical game system using the ICS used a 1:3 structure. This 1:3 Structure branched one person to three persons. Each one of the three persons had three persons assigned below them. In the Incident Command System, it says one person can handle up to 7 people before they are overwhelmed and communications break down. The potential for your server can go from 1:3 to 1:4 to 1:5 to 1:6 to 1:7 using the Incident Command System. Never should you have 2:3, 2:4, and so on because this will cause a break in your communication. The most successful servers and communities I have seen have used this 1:3 - 1:7 method for maximum amounts of communication. However, most all of them have failed because they sought to expand those ratios to more than 7. I will elaborate further should you have questions, and this is merely a suggestion for those wishing to run a community or a server.

i think this is a really good topic and i love the idea of marriage i like the idea of the hugging, kissing, holding each other but it would also be nice if there where couple friendly places to go for couples only? or even for singles to meet up like a speed date thing and it would be cool with the microphones and hearing the other persons voice

I just came across Identity as I was searching for a new MMORPG and this is exactly the type of game I have been longing for, I just wish I had come across it last year when it started, would of loved to have been here since day one and to have gotten that exclusive Kickstarter hat but I am happy to have backed it now and look forward to getting involved in the community. Mad P.S. Sorry I just noticed the introductions section, if this can be moved please.

The first pledge option gets you a passport which is access to only the full game. All other options are to get in-game rewards as well as access to the beta and modules.
