Hey Guys, I thought I would share with you a little guide I designed a few years ago for businesses in Arma 3 Life. It's a simple business model that worked pretty well. It's more or less an algorithm for any business you choose to make. It allows for your employees to be paid, and will minimize them breaking off for sole profit. It is purposely written so that anyone can understand. --------------- Business Model System This is the business model system for maximum efficiency for any business. This model uses a percentage based pay and is designed to be easily modified and easily implemented. Here is the Key for the following guide: A- Overhead (This is the money you need to cover your expenses) B- Profit (This is the money you make after your initial investment has been covered) C- Employee Payroll (This is the money for you to pay your employees) D- Investors Payroll (This is the money to pay your investors) ----------------- Generally speaking you need to arrange all of your investors payroll and your employee payroll to only come from your profits. It is important to remember what your total investment is, your profit, and your payroll. Be sure that you keep an eye on your finances. This is an example of the business model: Your total Overhead (A) is $1000 You have one investor, who has invested $1000 into your business in exchange for 5% of your profit (B). This places a $20,000 valuation on your company. You have one employee plus yourself. Your employees and investors make 5% of your profits. From 100% of your profit (B), you now owe 10%, which leaves you with 90% of your profit. Your profit is $5000. This means that $250 goes to your investor, $250 goes to your employees. 90% of your profit or $4500 is now left over. You invest $2000 into your Overhead this time. You have the same amount of investors. Your company's valuation is still only $20,000. You have gained another employee plus yourself. You have banked $2500. If your profit from a $1000 investment was $5000, this means you made $6000 from the total investment. In turn you expect to make double because of your investment of $2000. This puts you at a $10,000 profit. 5% of $10,000 is $500. You pay your employees $500 and your investor $500. This leaves you with a total of $9000 profit. This algorithm is a progressive system. You do not have to pay any specific percentage, I was simply explaining the math with the easy percentages. ---------------- Q: Why would someone work for me, if they could make the same amount as me? A: Your employee pays no overhead, he uses your equipment, he uses your services, he uses your resources. He has no risk involved. If he is robbed, it is not his money he is losing. (Or She). Also, your employee will scale with more employees and more profit. Whereas if he were to do it all on his own, he would make the same singular profit without the ability to scale, unless he were to create his own company. (Or She). Not to mention, you could promote the employee to making more of a percentage. Q: Why not split the profits evenly? A: You can do that! Except you do need to take out your next expenses before dividing up the profit. Always cover your next venture. Q: Why bank the money? A: The reason for banking your money is insurance. If you are robbed, or an expensive piece of equipment is lost, stolen, or broken, you need to be able to cover those expenses. You pay yourself, the same amount as you pay your employees. You bank the remainder for upgrades and incidentals. Q: Is this the only system that works? A: Heavens no. There are many different systems that work, this is just an easy one to start with until you get your feet wet. ----------------------- Should you have any questions, or anything you would like to add to this guide (Business Model) please reply and leave a comment.

Hey Guys, Here are a few tips for you if you are looking to create political parties. First start with something you know and adapt game knowledge to it. Usually you can do this by watching movies and a youtube series on politics. Politics for Dummies is a great place to start. Second, Do NOT over expand. A lot of people that try to create political parties want to expand wider and wider. This is a bad thing to do. Start Small. Keep in the back of your mind that politics in games never work out for the best interest of everyone. Not to mention they often fail and fall apart before they can do any good. Third, choose something easy to work with. Do not worry with cabinet members, or secretaries. Keep it small to a number of 3 or less people at the start. Fourth, Do NOT give up. The first moment you let someone else take the reigns of your creation, you have lost the war. Your dream will be gone, and there will be no resurrection of your dead political party. ---------- Q: What political parties work? A: Dictatorships. Explanation: Dictatorships work because they do not rely on other people who can often times be unreliable. Q: Should we attempt an American Congress (American Politics)? A: No. Not only will you fail miserably, you will establish hate for your character. Q: What about any other country's government? A: The only government system I have known to work was a British Parliament. It worked for about 8 months on an Altis Server (It has since shutdown, ie, could not find the name) Essentially they built a voting system for law changes in the game. It worked for a long time considering the nature of servers. Q: Where have you seen a Dictatorship work? A: I've seen Staff on many servers become dictators, or were already dictators. Dictatorship establishes discipline and respect. It's only when you shy back from the dictatorship and allow for more democracy when it fails, and your community fails. Pick something and stick with it. Q: From where do you have your knowledge? A: Come on guys.. Let's face it, we're all Arma 3 life aficionados. All of my knowledge comes from failed systems and servers.

Hello, I offer you ideas: 1) how to become a rapper realties, to create their own group or to become a rock star. 2) Enchant Weapon. 3) Ability to travel across continents or islands. 4) Ability to create a virus or illness (as a computer virus) Let's character became a scientist and made a new virus. 4) The ability to join a secret organization realties (military or gang) 5) This idea is likely to be too fantastic but suddenly, the opportunity to make a cybernetic arm or leg it well, and so on. 6) add to the game a variety of sensitive buildings or bunkers. That is that these are my ideas, if something else come up with the write.

Hi all, I had the idea that boards can be placed around in certain locations in the game which could be called "Community Boards". The idea of Community Boards would be so that players can interact with these boards and see the latest news and announcements which are made (especially useful for private RP servers). Moderators/Admins can submit articles to be placed on community boards and the boards can be split into IC and OOC sections. OOC sections would contain updates to the server for example and IC sections could be latest news that has happened in-game such as: "Male killed in car crash outside City Hall" (for example). Community Boards could also have extended sections for example: In the IC section, their could be Job Advert section and a general advert section so that people who are employing can advertise their job or people who are offering their job service to the community can advertise there. They might or might not need to pay for this (up to admins). Let me know what you think of the idea!

My vote still stands for you. Good luck I hope when you say 'Criminals' you dont mean me?? Dont want any beef between us...I mean, im just the leader of a 'humble' MC

This game is not just about descending into anarchy due to criminals. You have to look in depth into criminal organisations as each has its own unique RP aspect. For instance my MC will be running guns, but its not just that. We do way more than just shoot up people in the street. Ridealongs, funerals and other such is the other RP scenarios that my group will be getting involved in with many more. The closest youll get to a family is the ability to marry another player. There is no children in the game which is both a pro and con but thats whats good about RP games, it uses your imagination. Now i dont know about you, but for me, when it comes to RP i have a lot of imagination. For example, yes all the characters in the game are adults but you can always RP a married couple with a teen son or daughter who is about to go to uni or just even RP a small family. Unfortunately you wont get any closer than that, Sorry Herzog

I haven't really made any plans as of yet. I am actually deciding if I want to carry on as a lawyer as in previous characters or if I want to just space out from it all. I definitely do not want anything to do with the medical side of things. My years as a paramedic were shorted by a life altering event which made me lose a long term partner and friend. Not to mention inaccuracies in medical science kind of piss me off. If I were to do a public service it very well might be the police, or maybe even sanitation or a tow truck driver. Allen Camel Towing has a nice ring to it. Thanks for agreeing with me!

Don't go play the sims as suggested. You are about to embark on a journey. I think, if you aren't already involved in hard core role play servers in Arma 3, you are going to be surprised. Not all families are "mafia types" You will see tons of families spring up, sons, fathers, mothers, daughters, brothers and sisters. You will forget that NPC families even held a place in your heart. The friends you are going to gain are going to astound you. It's not fair for anyone to tell you to go play something else, so don't listen to them, you are welcome here and I think you will be very surprised! Glad to have you!

According to the incident command system, and any working government system, the pattern would follow a 1:7 ratio in a server of 300 people. Therefore there would need to be 1 person for every 43 (rounded up) people for a government to work. Let's break down what a local government consists of: 1. Mayor 2. City or County Clerk 3. City or County Commissioner 4. Police Chief 5. Fire Chief 6. Treasury 7. Sanitation This is not all of what makes up a local government, however it will serve the purpose of showing how many players would be needed to complete your request. An ambassador would require foreign policy, a foreign policy would require a country, a country would require a state, a state would require a county, and a county would require a city. 7 people are required to run a city of 300, using the 1:7 ICS system. Using 300 players as a baseline, this means the entire country or server would require 8400 players. Is it plausible? Yes, but the server would need to hold the minimum capacity of 8400 players to actually give the ambassador something to do. In other words, if there isn't a need for an ambassador, there is no ambassador. Without a need, it's a fancy title without a purpose. -------- Someone please check my math (It's Early). 4 states of government equals 28 total government employees, 7 times 300 is 2100, 2100 times 4 states of government equals 8400 players. this is assuming that 300 players stays the same for all 4 governments 300 (City) 300 (County) 300 (State) 300 (Country). Governments should be based from population not from map size.

You want something, you got to earn it. If that's doing all the crap jobs to start with, then that's what they should do.

@Budbringer True, but someone has to do the boring jobs. Why not let the rookies do it?

Haha, same. I tried to take it slightly seriously, but my friend crashed into me multiple times. I got so annoyed I killed him with my mining tools then quit. Good times.

identity is still in development, dumdum. either you wait for the modules release (don't ask for it's release, use the search function) or you don't do anything. crying to play it won't help you to play it now

I suggest you wait until I finish the business stock market system. It will allow all business owners to sell and trade stock in an open stock market. Which means you can invest in businesses and own a piece of their profits. ----------- I have updated and finished a draft for the investment system. http://www.identityrpg.com/community/topic/1761-investment-system-that-works/

identity is a game in the reallife setting. no khajiit, no super mutants, no wizards, no females with underwear as ultimate legendary upgraded pay to win armor. got it? oh and if you want a cops and robbers shooter you should start playing battlefield hardline

i'll quote the same sentence now (x99999999): use the search function in the right corner. this question has been asked more than you know. don't argue or anything, just use the search function.

The whole 'family' thin g you keep seing people talking about.. its not a 'mommy and daddy lets take our son to the park' kind of things.. its a Mafia thing... Mafias usually called eachother a family because they were all close to one another and would treat everyone like they would treat there own family members. so if you want an NPC family go play the sims....

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. How are Kickstarter backers different from website backers? There is only one difference between backer rewards for the Kickstarter and website. Kickstarter backers will receive a unique in-game hat with the Kickstarter logo. Website backers receive a hat with the Identity logo. No new content in the future will ever display either of these logos. 2. Many people are confused on what the game is about. Would you mind telling us what your vision for the game is? Is the game more about Cops vs Robbers, or a balance between all the available paths? Identity is a cops and robbers game at heart, but it is a life simulator in so many other ways. We’re catering to role-play in a way that is possibly the first of its kind. Players have the freedom to pursue careers that will impact the player economy in their own unique way. Become a taxi driver, deliver goods to player-owned businesses, fight fires, save lives, argue a case in criminal court, or just hold out your hand and beg for money. Find, or steal your ‘identity’! 3. What can you tell us about the world? World size? Player limit? We anticipate that the playable world size will be 200 square kilometers, or 77 square miles in comparison. This means that the whole map is 14 km wide, and would take about an hour and a half to walk across. We hope to support up to 300 players (or more!) per server. 4. Can you expand on the professions? We know there will be cops, but what types of jobs will be available for civilians? Will they be able to create their own businesses? Create their own items? etc. Also, Medics and Firefighters? Players can choose from a wide range of professions, including the ability to become a Firefighter, EMT, Taxi Driver, Farmer, Bounty Hunter, Fisherman, Logger, Miner, Delivery Driver and even a business entrepreneur. The options available to you as a player get more specific than this even, but we aren’t yet ready to expand on the full list. The direction of development is prone to change, and we don’t want to promise anything that might change down the pipeline. Business ownership allows players to own factories and small business, giving them control over what items are manufactured and sold. Items created by a factory must be delivered to their destination city where store owners in that area can decide what quantity and type (formal wear, casual, punk outfits, weapons, etc.) they wish to list in their business. Some default items are always available in all stores for when market demand is not met. 5. How will death be handled? When a player dies, some items such as the money the player is carrying at that time, will be dropped on the ground and will become accessible to anyone in the area that wishes to take it. Clothing items will never be dropped. We have decided that a player’s character appearance in a social game like Identity is important. You will always look the way you decide your character to look. If the player is not resusitated by an EMT or teammate, the player is then prompted to respawn at the location of their last sync (house, apartment, city) Private servers have some control over what types of items players will drop on death, if any at all. 6. Can you expand on how the housing system will work? Size and availability of apartments and houses? Players can choose to own or rent housing in Identity, while apartments can also be shared with a friend or roommate depending on the size of the property. For instance, two friends, or a married couple can choose to purchase a 2 bedroom apartment where they both can live comfortably with each other. Apartments and houses are fully customizable, allowing players to place furniture and objects anywhere in the room. Home-owners can invite other players into their apartment or house at any time. Players cannot access another players home without an invitation. 7. Will there be any specific safe areas where people can go AFK or sit and socialize without being killed or robbed? There are safe zones within certain types of buildings in Identity. Metal detectors serve to preserve immersion, and will temporarily remove any weapons upon entry, allowing all players in the area to safely relax, socialize and meet new friends. These safe zones are known to us as “Sub-Hubs” or social gathering points that reflect on the lifestyle theme of their environment (Biker Bar, Business club, Bum alley, etc.). While many of these areas can only be accessed by law-abiding citizens, some Sub-Hubs are neutral and can be entered by any player on the map. Few areas are designated gathering points for active criminals looking for the right crime of opportunity, or new friends to help them plan their next heist. 8. How will player identification work in game? Will names appear above players heads? If so, at what distances will they be seen? As our design stands right now, the official servers do display names over heads within certain ranges. Some things like masks and balaclavas can affect this. Moreover, private servers have an option where they can hide names from all players unless greeted. By this I mean you won’t see the name over another player until they perform an emote action, after which you’ll always see their name.
